Definitely my favorite of the 4 novels, not just because we got some resolution but also because of richly imagined scenes. It was lovely to read and I blew through it.

When we left Lively he was meeting family back in 1981, Minerva was doing her best to figure out how to get her twin back.

While Minerva works to find out more about The Sinclair she begins to consider that The Sinclair has become sentient and if true will do all that it can to survive. That survival centers around the ebony box that sits in a miniature version of the Sinclair. Which has some very interesting guardians Minerva does get some help with the arrival of Amanda Jansen and John Harder, both of whom are still seeking answers to the events that happened that night in 1981

As Lively works to survive in 1981 and figure out how to return home to his twin and bring the missing back he finds his Mother, Selene to be very much alive and that his father is the heir of the Sinclair legacy. He does get a bit of a generational family reunion.

We meet new players in this game, Ricky Rosenstein, Simon Wright and Vincent DaCosta turn out to be a big help, Max Schreck along with Kandi prove to be a challenge. I so want to tell you more, but nope, not going to as you are just going to have to make a reservation. I will tell you that this installment is well done and you will enjoy this adventure as once more Katie Berry does not dissappoint. I look forward to more adventures with Lively and Minerva, and hope to be able to reserve a room once more at the Sinclair.
One last thing for those of you who liked Charlie, he is doing just fine.

An exceptional adventure

Miss Barry, I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful adventure. I truly enjoyed your characters, and some of them touched my heart, the villains I disliked. The twists and turns were delightful. I loved all the unique surprises, and I really and truly liked the ending. Miss Barry, I am following all of your books now. What a great talent you have. Thank you

Too Long!

I had a hard time with picturing what the hotel looked like inside - it seemed like a continuous maze, with people disappearing and reappearing in a different. I found myself glancing at pages instead of reading them. The book(s) was too long! Jumping back and forth to 1981, sometimes to 1963, and then back to 2021, then the descriptions of all these machines and what they do or don,t do and, oh yeah - what year were they in, left me very confused. The two main characters, the twins, were sometimes "corny" - "sis" & "bro"? Best character was the food-glutton/tech whiz. I felt his emotions, he was real. 3 stars because of the length, my confusion - who's on first again?

WOW..Unique storyline and characters

From the first book I was hooked. Katie wove all the threads together seamlessly. It was great to have the two main characters not romantically involved, although it was a love story spanning time. Their 8 legged friend was just so right, the stuffed animals were so scary and the painting was awesome. Of course we have the villans, so unexpected. The hotel it's self was the wonder of the story. I look forward to hearing more from it. Worth the wait for the 4th book and definitely something I will read again.

Surprise around every corner

Couldn't wait to start the next book. So many surprises and mysteries. Was sorry to see it end. But look forward to other Lively books.

Not sure if it's because I listened to the audiobook but I felt myself drifting many times and was confused about who did what, when, and why. Overall, the concept was neat and reminded me of Lost x Jumanji x The Shining. Like I've said in my reviews of the previous books in the series, these were fast reads that sought out to entertain and they did just that. A perfect series to read over a winter break or the New Years season.

EXCELLENT SERIES

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I read the first three books in a week. It took a couple months before I read the fourth one. The only thing I came close to disliking about it IS the fact that there are 4 books. It was a little much for me to finish in one binge. However, anyone who likes paranormal, mystery, thriller, just good books in general,or any combination thereof should enjoy these books. Am about to try Katie Berry’s other books now.

I loved the story line it put me in mind of the Shining. Great characters I couldn't put the 4 series down but the last book I read slow cause I didn't want it to end .

A perfect end to a great series. All the little sub-plots and open storylines from previous novels are answered right here. With a little mystery/what if for the Deadmarsh twins. The scenery depictions and detail really put the reader in the moment. The suspense and tension ratchet up the further the reader gets into the novel. This author has a great touch of grabbing the readers' attention and not letting go until the very last page. The characters' progression and backstory came full circle right to the end. This author has a lot of potentials to carry on a lot more novels and spinoff series.

I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Most Things Are Wrapped Up...

So I must admit I have been quite distracted by other things while I was reading this. And since by the time you reach book #4 a lot of the secrets are already revealed. So in a way lots of the mystery has already been explained. And its the mystery that was making me read this.
So the relentless drive to read this was a lot less with this book than it was with the first three. Granted, yes I had problems with other things, but the interest in reading this story was definitely lagging.

So did I find the end satisfying? Sort of. The thing is the end had neatly explained or tied up most things BUT the one thing I really wanted to know. Which I actually found kind of annoying. Why explain everything but that? Of course other readers may not care about that at all.

I do free I am ready to read something else now.

I did enjoy the characters in here. And there certainly was lots of action and surprises in this last book.. Of course Lively will be back in another book (no surprise really and I am sure his sister Minerva will be back too).

Gripping all the way through! I've read paranormal books before, but nothing like this. This series gave me Rose Red/Tower of Terror/The Shining vibes. The first book kind of dragged on it seemed. As the series progressed, it got so good! I didn't think I was gonna enjoy the series, but I really did. All the surprises and the final conclusion were fantastic. I actually ended up liking Charlie. Even though I'm terrified of spiders 😂 Hes the only question I really had once the book ended. Was he a spirit? One of the vanished? Or just your friendly paranormal spider? I'm looking forward to reading Livelys next adventure!

**Spoilers**

I feel like there are still so many unanswered questions. Can anyone explain or answer??

Who were the father and son that John witnessed in the turret with bowler hat man and Edward? And how did Danny die? And also, what happened to the officer guy who disappeared and became a zombie? What or who was "thumper?"
And... Are Danny and Amanda ghosts now? Why didn't they go to heaven and instead stay at the resort? And how the fuck did Helen get trapped in the ballroom when the event happened 2 days before she disappeared?

This was such a fun series! Filled with creepy moments, humor, likeable characters and lots of action, it was the perfect series to read during spooky season. I did feel like book four went on a bit long and I'm not sure I quite understand how everything worked, but I still enjoyed it overall. The ending was bittersweet and made me tear up a bit. I have to say I've been wondering what happened on Lively's cruise since book one, so I'm thrilled to see we get to find out in an upcoming book! I recommend this series, and I will definitely be reading more by Katie Berry!

a satisfying wrap up

I don’t know how Ms. Berry got me to stop hating Lively and Minerva, but after two books of finding myself annoyed at every word they said and longing for the “adult” characters to resume the narrative, I actually like the twins now. I’ll definitely be reading their further adventures and everything else the author writes. I love that this ties into the Claw series and that we will see the hotel again.

Excellent

The countdown is on. As it's getting closer and closer to midnight, Minerva and Lively are doing their best to make a return happen, while being in completely different years! This book was crazy good with so much info packed in. Not a moment of boredom to be had! Can they do it? Can they really bring all those people that disappeared 40 years ago back to the present day? And what about Edward Sinclair? Hold on tight! It's a fast ride to the end! Highly recommend!

Staying home on New Year's Eve!

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Book 4's ending was sort of a given. But I won't reveal it. Minerva is one tough lady!
I wish Amanda and Danny an eternity of happiness. Guess her sister now has a cat.
Looking forward to "Besieged"

If you're a fan of Katie Berry's ABANDONED series, you will love her fourth instalment, "Deception and Deliverance". Her incredible storytelling is a fantastic smorgasbord of adventure. Katie has truly outdone herself with this one, delivering a rollercoaster of emotions, unexpected twists, and heart-pounding action that will keep you eagerly flipping through the pages.
I remember reading the first two books right when they came out, and back then, I had some strong criticisms about them. My main concerns were how short they were (each around 6 hours), which made it hard to fully engage with the story as we did with her previous novel, Claw. Plus, every book left us hanging on a major cliffhanger, and it was frustrating to lose track of the details before the next book arrived months later. So, I made the choice to hold off until all four books were released.
When the fourth book finally hit Audible, I decided to start the series all over again from the beginning. Reading them one after the other made such a difference! I ended up absolutely adoring the story, and the final instalment tied up all the loose ends perfectly.
Would I recommend the series? Without a doubt! But here's a friendly tip: make sure you have all four books ready to go and read them in close succession. That way, you can fully immerse yourself in this eerie time-traveling adventure. That is over 30 hours of spookiness! I'm eagerly counting down to the next Katie Berry book!

Overall it was good

As with my previous reviews in the series, this story was entirely too drawn out. It could have been edited down substantially and not lost the plot, but lost 2 books at least.

While a lot of questions were answered, frankly top many weren't. I didn't need so much of the how things were happening, but some more why's could have been. What was the painting? Who was the little boy? Who was Charlie? Who or what were the stuffed animals? What actually happened to Eggleston?

Decent mystery/horror/suspense story. I'm not likely to persue other works by this author, but I see why people find their work appealing, but let's be honest, i prefer my books with a bit of smut. 😉

It feels like there was still some unexplainable stuff. Were the stuffies a byproduct of all the stuff Edward Sinclair put into motion? Were they part of the supernatural things tied to the former castle? What was up with the tapestry creatures? While I still don't quite get it, this whole series was a pretty fun and quick read. I liked the ragtag band of supporting characters that aided Lively and Minerva. Honestly going into this book I thought it was going to be more about ghosts than anything else. I guess there was still some of that, but a whole lot of other things as well!

Abandoned

WHAT. A. RIDE! I was astonished, confused, impatient and hungry for more. I found myself reading early in the morning and late into the night.
And a few times, I was so positive I knew what was coming next……and…..I was wrong!
Would I recommend this series? Well, if you like science, the paranormal, the unpredictable, a sprinkling of humour, possibly missing an appointment or two, you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you, Katie Berry! This was fun!

ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!!

This is very imaginative and delightful series, it is very well thought out, details are spot on,and believable. Well believable as possible. But the story grabs hold real quick and never lets go!!! I can't wait for more from this author. She is the most talented storyteller i have read yet, The next Stephen King? Let's wait and see. 🙂🙃

What a fantastic end to the 4 book series. The technical jargon got me a little lost but I really enjoyed it. Sad to end the series, Lively and Minerva were fantastic. I love that to me it was a perfect end. I enjoyed how Lively and Minerva have their ending up. I hope we see the duo in another series.
