The style of this book is like a journal. The author develops a relatable character from a historical setting that has monsters thrown in to make it an interesting read. Kudos Jade Griffin for this fun and unique book.

I love the style of this book. As the title suggests, the adventures of Lacy are told through her journals, a wonderful stylistic choice in that it allows the reader to get a firm sense of her voice and inner thoughts while giving a personal touch to each scenario. She isn’t perfect, makes mistakes and has to cope with her own inner demons.
The adventures are a treat, with each one being a unique one yet with some draw and connection to the previous, we follow Lacy on her journey bit by bit, allowing us to share in her frustrations as well as her successes. And we ponder the mysteries along with her.
If you’re in the mood for adventure with a compelling heroine and a unique writing style that will catch your attention, add these journals to your shelf.
