This American History is a short and fast journey, an encyclopedic look at USA’s prehistory and 225 years through 1998. It’s a reasonable introduction to specific topics, but doesn’t begin to satisfy any of them.
The editing is clearly lacking in places (Rutherford Hayes defeated Samuel Tillman?), and the publisher did not secure the rights to enough different photos, as evidenced by the cover of the book. Opinions become more prominent towards the end, and presidents get more attention later in the book than they do at the beginning.
Overall, a good try.
Includes category-specific timelines, the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, brief descriptions of each president and state, and a glossary of terms.
