Davy is counting the days until his birthday. It seems like such a long wait! He is so excited, he can hardly sit still when Father Rabbit tells a story about a lucky little rabbit who had three wishes that all came true. Davy decides that if he had three wishes, he'd wish for someone who would tell him stories whenever he wanted, someone who would teach him new games, and someone who always had plenty of time to spend with him. Davy's birthday finally arrives and with it comes a big surprise present--too big to be wrapped -- that makes all of Davy's wishes come true and his birthday the happiest one ever. This new adventure featuring Davy and the Rabbit family shows that love is the best gift of all.

While Davy is anxiously waiting for his birthday, he wishes for the three most important things to him: someone who always had time to tell stories, someone to teach him more games, and someone who had lots of time to play with him. Grandma and grandpa will come to be his present, and make all his wishes come true in his special day. Davy has the best birthday ever!

This story is VERY sweet. Davy and his siblings really enjoy the time they spend with their grandparents. The best thing is get together, love and enjoy each other. Davy is so happy and grateful at the end of the day, he offers himself to be his grandparents present in their birthdays, and give them the best he can think of: his love.

Davy asking hundreds of times how many more days until his birthday made me laugh. This is such a familiar situation at my house ! We actually do countdowns for birthdays!

The book is also beautifully illustrated. These are illustrations you feel like hugging!

The pictures in this were cute, but the kindle version had no words, so my four-year-old was quite disappointed.

My kids and I absolutely adored this book. It sounded so much like us that we all had a good laugh about it. Not only do we give it five stars, we give it a plus five in golden sunshine stars.

Davy is full of anticipation for his birthday, but when his grandparents surprise him, he learns the big day is worth the wait. A cute story with nice illustrations, though a little text-heavy for a preschool bedtime read.

Davy is counting the days until his birthday. As it approaches he is lamenting the fact that everyone is too busy getting ready for his party that he has no one to play with. He wishes for someone with time to play with him, someone to read to him and someone to teach him new games. His parents listen and on his birthday, Grandma and Grandpa are his present. They bring him a big book full of stories, teach him all the games they played as children and spend a lot of time with him. He also receives some other gifts but Grandma and Grandpa are the best ones. He has a wonderful day. What a great story teaching children about enjoying time with your family, the best gifts do not cost a lot of money and that love is the best gift of all. The illustrations were adorable and I think young children who do not quite understand the meaning of the story will love the pictures. Older children will get the message. A great book for many ages.

Thank you to netgalley for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I want to begin by saying the illustrations in this book are amazing. They seem classic, like older story books like the Velveteen Rabbit etc and I loved loved loved that.

I thought they were amazing.

I want to also say that this was a great story about loving your family and appreciating the things around you which I think it a great theme for a children's book.

I could see parents or teachers bringing this out and reading close to a birthday and saying that it isn't really things that matter but the people around you who love and care about you.

Definitely would suggest for young children. I really found it enjoyable.

A truly terrific children's picture book with beautiful illustrations and an even better message behind the story. Davy is a rabbit who can't wait for his birthday, and easily gets bored - he wishes for people who have time for him, to play games with him, and to read stories with him. When his birthday finally arrives he gets a terrific surprise. It's a lovely tale, made even better by it's underlying message of the importance of being present, spending time with people, sharing fun and games and stories. How those things matter most. While your little one may not grasp all of those things, they'll certainly love the pictures and the story of Davy the Rabbit. A beautiful book.

A charmingly illustrated picture book that tells of the invaluable contribution grandparents make to the lives of young children.

When Davy the rabbit is excitedly waiting for his birthday to arrive he makes three wishes:
“If I had a wish, I would ask for someone who always had time to tell stories”.
“If I had a wish, I would ask for someone to teach us more games”.
“If I had a wish, I would ask for someone who had lots of time to spend with me”.
The arrival of his grandparents on his birthday ensure that all of his wishes are fulfilled.

This book would make an excellent gift to a favored grandchild from grandparents.
Highly recommended!

I (Kendra) have seen this book go out over and over again, both within our own library users and through our partner library lending system. The illustrations are gorgeous, and manage to walk the line between attractive to kids and attractive to adults. There's quite a lot of text on each page, at least for the really little littlies, so it's not the easiest book to incorporate into StoryTime or to read aloud at home; the kids' attention will wander, almost guaranteed. I would say the images are appealing to all, but the reading level put it somewhere in the 6 to 8 demographic.

A simple tale of learning about patience and what is important. Wonderful illustrations that go hand in hand with the storyline, and a clear message about anticipation and getting what is most important out of life. Naturally, if you are four, those messages aren't crystal clear, so this is great for discussion with your little ones! We also loved that it said you can always read a story all over again!

This book was so adorable. The pictures had my one year old engaged, even if it was a little long for her (definitely a book to try again in a year or so) The story had me interested and wanting to give little Davy a hug as he walked around just wanting someone to play with and stories to read.
This is a great book to be read out loud or by yourself on a classroom or library floor. If this book is going to be shared by many children and enjoyed as a group story time read, I'd definitely get it. But for a single family with an only child? 15 dollars and change is a bit steep.

How cute! I loved the pictures. All of the rabbits were adorable, and I loved seeing them as many siblings. What can I say--I have a thing for large families! I love that his wishes come true and that they do so through loved ones. Very sweet. I'll have to see how it might fit in for Book Time, though.

Cute book about a rabbit who is hanging out for his birthday. Prior to his birthday Davy makes three wishes, including someone who has enough time to retell stories and jokes and other similar wishes ... and then on his birthday his wishes are realised. This is a aaagh ... feel good story.

This is a cute little book it relates to any little kid that is waiting on their birthday. Its a cute little story and has good pictures. This book is for younger children and it doesn't have to much of a meaning but is fun to read to younger children.
