The rich bad boy found out that I write smut!

When the popular skateboarding punk at my high school discovers that I write dirty romance books, he promises to tell the entire school and ruin my life if I don’t do everything he wants of me. Desperate to make it through the rest of senior year unseen, I reluctantly go along with it.

I skip class to meet him in the back hallways and show up at the skatepark to satisfy his every last need. I tell myself that I’m only doing this because of the blackmail he’s holding over me, but I can’t help the jealousy that boils inside me when he begins hanging out with the school slut.

Blaise Harleen might think that I’m his good girl, but he’s mine. All mine.

The Bad Boy is a steamy new adult romance and the third book in the Bad Boys of Redwood Academy series of standalones. This series does not have to be read in order.

(Descriptions found at end of my review)

Should I read in order?
This is the third book in Rose’s Bad Boys of Redwood series and I found it readable alone. I think there’s mention of the prior characters but nothing extensive – this book really focuses on these mains.

Basic plot:
Blaise is extra curious about Vera when he finds some of her naughty scenes from the book she’s writing – and luckily they’ve just been partnered up in one of their classes.

Give this a try if you want:
- contemporary romance
- some dark elements
- high school setting – Redwood Academy
- skateboard loving hero
- aspiring romance author heroine
- animosity to lovers – she despises him
- he pursues – he blackmails her to be his fuck toy
- some unrequited longing from the hero that’s hidden
- higher steam – at least 11 scenes, maybe more - with some exhibitionism/risk of getting caught elements, some degradation

Ages:
- hero is 18, didn’t catch heroine but I’m going to say 18. They are in high school.

First line:
After buckling the play collar snug around my neck, Aiden clasped a leather leash around the d-ring.

My thoughts:
Oof I struggled with this one. I did have a small issue with the male narration. But honestly I couldn’t tell if I was getting annoyed with actually him, or the words he was saying. Because mostly the writing in this book wasn’t for me.

And maybe part of it was the high school setting, which I can usually get past. But it just felt a bit...immature to me. I love bad language in my romance, especially the f word but it was like every third word in the dialogue and thoughts and it just sounded like a….petulant middle schooler to me and I couldn’t get past it.

And Vera hated him, but kept talking about her ‘body betraying syndrome’. Ugh I despise that trope/tool – it’s why I struggled with connecting with a lot of old school authors like Johanna Lindsey. But if you like body betrayed me (I hate you but my body is saying yes even though my brain is saying no, oh oopsie, we fucked again but now I hate you again!) then you will enjoy this more than I did.

I will say the book got better for me as I got into it. But towards the end when the whole murder mystery happened I started to lose it again. I liked the spicy scenes but Blaise just seemed like an angry and petty human, one who is going to be punching walls and maybe Vera later on in life. He was SO angry over everything but just sounded rather whiny and unlikeable when I was in his POV.

I also wasn’t convinced of his unrequited longing for Vera. Things came out as the story went on but I felt like they just didn’t match the actions of them in the first part of the book – so it felt false when all of a sudden I’m told they’ve both loved from afar. I didn’t feel that at all in the beginning.

So this one didn’t work for me but those wanting a kind of bully-ish academy vibe with some mob elements and plenty of spice should give this one a go!

Intense, Powerful, Beautiful Love Story with a twist

This book is very intense and powerful just like all the Redwood Academy books. You will not be disappointed in this powerful story between two people who should never be so compatible but complete each other so perfectly.

We get to know Blaise and Vera. Blaise is a bad boy who loves skateboarding and ticking off his rich parents when they are around. He doesn’t care about anything but Vera has been a constant memory and need in his mind and he finally found a way to make her his in reality. It’s Redwood so you know it’s not in the conventional sense but when he pursues Vera can’t help but follow. He awakens things within her she only was able to put on paper but when he makes those words a reality be prepared to be blown away and quite smitten by his attention and desires.

Their story is hot and very sexy. However, this Redwood so there is always trouble lurking and we know the mob is running bad things through the school and the community. Blaise’s family are connected but he’s never been a part of that but when it threatens his Vera all bets are off. Our favorite psychos from Poison are here as well and we know they are always down for a good time. Vera is important to them because of how she cares for Ana and it’s gets deadly and dangerous really quick. Hold on because it’s quite a wild ride. Happy Reading!!

We also get a peak at who is going to be starring in the next book Detention and I know it’s going to be hot and dangerous!

Trigger warning present

Ooh !!!

Book 3 in series, but taken a different route as opposed to the first 2 books. We are still at Redwood High with bad boys and nerds.
Blaise - Rich Redwood bad boy. An unexpected turn in his life. Accusations, a murder, who done it?
Vera - nerdy, poor, abode in slums and also neighbour to Joao (Poison Leader)

Can be read as standalone but most enjoyable if read in order. Question on time period to reference of Joao and his sibling.
Being born rich may have liberties for some, yet there are still people who accept the privilege but also don’t flaunt. It is this person who also leads a lonely life and seeks acceptance unbeknown to them. Is this where Blaise falls into? Is Vera his salvation from Redwood?

Note : this read’s in between bkm2. Is you have read the series thus far, you will ne in between reiterating Joao’s life. Crossover episodes from book 2

Bad Boy for me is an extension to Poison. Though first 2 books had their stories with further details in storyline, here I sensed a side dish serving. Confusing, apologies, but once read you will understand my comments.
We read of Vera in Poison, so there was some background. Emilia has you engrossed in Redwood drama. You won’t be disappointed. It is full of action and you get to love the characters.

A mild note on language. Some may not appreciate but is needed.
Once you start Redwood, you will be seeking more.

OH. MY. GOD. WHHAAATTTTT.
For the sheer fact that Vera writes smut in her spare free time is just a FUCKING MOOD. She is a queen. We fucking love her. And with the little snippets, SHE. IS. SPICCYYY. And of course, the bad, bad Blaise happens to stumble upon her smut, and she will do anything to keep it a secret, even getting down and dirty with the bad boy himself. I knew that I was going to like Blaise BUT FUCK ME DEAD. I absolutely fell head over heels in love with this man. He has so much more to him than what he lets on and just being able to see that other side of him just gives me all the fuzzy feels inside, as well as the ache for him, and with how his parents are fucking awful. Of course his intentions with the wonderful Vera, are extremely fucking hot, but, over time things are changing and the maggicccc happeeennsss.

The chemistry between Vera and Blaise is like a wildfire you can’t put out. Once it starts it just continues to burn and it gets hotter and hotter every damn second. But without even realising it, they help each other heal, uncover more about themselves that they never knew and find the one thing they have both been looking for; within each other. IT IS TOO DAMN CUTE. It is in desperation that I mention the reenactments and writing a chapter together. LIKE I’M SORRY? Oh, and don’t even get me going on those fucking PLOT TWISTS. I am GAGGED. I GASPED. I DIED. AND. I. FUCKING. LOVED. IT.

I listened to the audiobook, and the narrators did a great job at making you feel everything the characters were feeling!

The book had everything, blackmail, murder, mobsters…and let’s not forget Blazes psycho mother! But it also had love, compassion, friendship, forgiveness, suspense, heartbreak, humour…and everything in between! The story on a whole made me feel angry, shocked, happy, sad…and wanting to punch some characters in the face!

Blaze and Vera both have heir insecurities and were denying their feelings and connection to each other. The fact it took Blaze a while to come to terms with his feelings for Vera was funny considering he’d warned off any other guy that ever went near her.

Maddy is the kind of friend everyone needs “you’d better start, because I’m about to smack some sense into you if you don’t”.

The introduction of other characters from the series was seamless, and shows the interconnected relationships from the world of Redwood. But not only that, Emilia also makes reference to her other series of books, mentioning Durnbone but as a game!

It is obvious Emilia Rose puts a lot of thought into her stories, and it really shows!

This is book three in the series The Bad Boys of Redwood Academy, definitely my favorite so far.
Blaise Harleen is far from being a nice guy, but with this book we get to see all his layers, and many of them aren't nearly as scary as he'd like you to think.
Vera the unseen girl and she'd like to keep it that way, especially with her hobby.
But things don't often work the way we want, and Blaise well he's always seen her. Now he has a reason to be in her space.
But as always there are things and people lurking in Redwood waiting to take someone down at the drop of a hat.
Those people, you might be surprised who some of them are!
Can Blaise and Vera avoid the monsters lurking in the shadows of this town and uncover their feelings for each other before it's too late? Grab book three ASAP!
I have voluntarily left this review.

This was okay but listening to this on audible was probably not the best idea. I can't skim that way so all the times Blaise was a f*cking whining, poor me, pity party throwing, ungrateful twat was distracting. Honestly, this kid couldn't even be bothered to show a smidge of respect to the uncle that actually tried to treat him right.

Vera was interesting but just acknowledging "body betrayal syndrome" many times doesn't actually make that it's happening, repeatedly and in absolutely ludicrous places, better. That said, some of the sex scenes were really quite well done if you can look past locations and improbabilities.

And we also get a lesson in life with this book when the author tells us "the villain doesn't always pay". Uh. No kidding.

I don't think this series is for me.

loved it!

This series is so cute and I adored Vera and Blaise. This book was shorter than Poison and Stepbrother, but it told the story that needed to be told. There was very little overlap with the previous books, so there were quite a few surprises, especially towards the end. The rot in Redwood runs DEEP. Blaise really surprised me. In a good way. Vera represented many of the hardworking people from the slums who had more work ethic and character than the wealthy who mistreated everyone and treated poverty like a character flaw. I have really enjoyed the dialogue and the undertones about wealth and class and the lines drawn between the rich and the poor. There were some hints about the next book, so I suspect I know who it will be about. I’m looking forward to reading it!

I loved what the plot was trying to do in this book, but there were so many dramatically over the top cringe moments I couldn't overlook.
Vera was an absolute wreck for 90% of the book. Somehow she lacked personality but what little she did grated on my nerves. And Blaise, we get it, no one loves you. You're a sad little rich boy sk8r punk who's making your existence EVERYONE'S problem. The side characters were confusing as hell. Blaise's mom was just too much.
You know how you can do a portrait with very fine lines which leads to fine details and an overall higher quality piece of art? This book is the extra bold sharpie marker version of that. It read like a Wattpad story.
Again, the plot was interesting but all over the place and the characters would've been more likeable at like 60% of what we were given.

I absolutely love Blaise & Vera!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Wow, oh my goodness!!! This was one of the best romance stories I've read in a while 🥰 I really enjoyed it and I totally fell in love with both main characters, Blaise & Vera ❤️ My heart went out to Blaise after everything he went through and how his horrible and selfish parents treated him. Especially his Mother 😒 I so wanted to hug him and comfort him 🥺 I'm really glad Vera fell in love with him. She gave him the love and affection he craved and deserved so much. He was an emotionally broken boy, but he had a good heart and truly loved Vera with all his heart. I loved how Blaise was so protective and possessive of her. There was a good amount of yummy steamy scenes that were so hot!! 😏🔥 I so glad I found this gem, it was totally worth the read!! ❤️ I highly recommend it!!

I love this Redwood world so much!

The Bad Boy is book #3 in the Bad Boys of Redwood Academy series. Its a series of standalones with a plot that crosses over thru the series.

I love Blaise and Vera!

Vera is a fellow smut lover! She loves to write spicy books and wants to be a writer. Vera and Blaise, a skateboarding bad boy, get paired together for a project, he ends up finding what she has been writing. He tells her he won't tell anyone, as long as she is a good girl for him 😉😉

Emilia is smashing it with this series!!! So much is going on in the town of Redwood, these bad boys keep catching feelings, I couldn't put this book down! I love Emilias writing so much!!

Vera and Blaise are 🔥🔥🔥🔥 and you guys need to read this series!!!

I love how the plot of this book, The Bad Boy, connects to the plot in Poison, and then gives a nod to Stepbrother. This is the third book in the series, and it’s just as good as the first two. You don’t have to read the first two books before this one, but I suggest it, so you can better understand the relationship between Vera and Joao, which Blaise doesn’t understand until it’s explained that she babysits Joao’s little sister. When Vera is kidnapped, Blaise goes to Joao and the rest of Poison to ask for their help, which also connects the books to Redwood’s mob and human trafficking. I won’t give anymore spoilers, because I hate spoilers. This book has a solid plot, interesting characters, and great smut scenes. I recommend it, and I look forward to the fourth book.

Vera writes smut in her free time. She can't afford a laptop so she's been writing her story in a notebook. Well a few pages of her story fell out and landed on the floor in front of her locker. Blaise, the bad boy of Redwood High, finds them. He's going to blackmail her with this info. Should she follow his rules or rebel?

Vera is such a sweet girl. Blaise is more than a bad boy. I was beyond shocked at what happened in the parking lot of the school! It's a horrible feeling when you are paired up with someone you don't like. Blaise proves that some people are just money hungry. My heart stopped when they got caught. I love that he wants all of her attention. Her family is the sweetest. There were so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming.

lol This whole series is OTT and I love it. I spent most of the book wondering why Vera was so scared if people read her smut? I couldn't figure out how anybody could use that as blackmail against her. Like....who in the hell would really care?

Blaise (haha @ the name) was a sad, rich, skater boy. Vera was the poor nerdy girl. I guess Blaise has been into Vera for years. Now he has blackmail material on her (she writes smut) *EYEROLL*

There is OTT plots on mafia, sex trafficking, the morning-after pill, garbage parents, and lots and lots of spice. Some is very cringe.

I have now also read books 4 and 5 in this series- so they are all taking place around the same time. They all seem to have the same plot (well except the teacher one)

Nothing like trying to hide your secrets only to have the bad boy find out. Blaise finds Vera's story (and it may be a little steamy like a certain author's stories) and can't put it down hence the blackmail. What started as a little fun for Blaise slowly turned into feelings and something more. Don't forget that Redwood is full of bad people doing bad things like murder, mobs, and accusing the wrong people. Blaise and Vera must test their feelings to survive it all. If you are looking for a sex scene that is a slow burn, you may be dissappinted because Emilia doesn't write scenes like that for Blaise or Vera.

Exceptional!! Wow I couldn’t put this book down! Vera is an aspiring writer and she gets paired with Blaise, one of the bad boys at Redwood, to do a group project. He finds some of her writing and tries to blackmail her with it. Both Vera and Blaise have secrets that will eventually unfold.

Vera is the quiet good girl with a talent for writing smut who lives in the slums. Blaise is a rich boy who appears to have it all. Things get heated rather quickly, and the spice starts hot and gets even better as the book progresses. I loved all of the references to the previous books and I’m already anxiously awaiting the final sequel (:

The Bad Boy is book three in the Redwood Academy, however it is not necessary to read the previous books. It does provide more background, but is not completely necessary. I enjoyed Poison (book 2), but I loved this book. Most of the time, I prefer RH books, but I loved Vera and Blaise!

Vera is shy and nerdy, but secretly writes smut novels. Some of what she writes is very steamy! Blaise doesn't care about school and is a bit of a loner. He only cares about skateboarding. I really loved Blaise. He is so much more complicated than I initially thought and he definitely pulled on my heartstrings with everything he dealt with. I loved the way that Vera and Blaise's characters were connected; it wasn't simply Blaise finding her writing and blackmailing her, there is so much more to their story.

I am excited for the next book, but I could really use more of Vera and Blaise. I would love an extended epilogue with them in the future. These characters were great. I would also love more of Vera's brother Mateo. He seems so shy but he sought out Blaise for advice on girls. I would love to read more of their interactions!

Blaise & Vera

Blaise broke my heart into little pieces. He and Vera were friends when they were much younger. Veras mom was the housekeeper and she would bring Vera with her to work on Saturdays.

When Veras mom was fired he was heartbroken because she was his only friend.

Fast forward to high school and Blaise is the bad boy loner and Vera is the nerdy girl who likes to keep a low profile.

This story is heartwrenching, Blaise deep down just wants to be loved his parents have always left him to his own devices. But when he comes across a page from Veras notebook he decides to use it against her.

Loved the story!!!

Loved this!

I've read all three books and Love them! I absolutely enjoy learning more about the plot and story from all the different perspectives and Redwood is Scandalous! I enjoyed Blaise and Vera's story! Poison is still have fav especially Joao* him being "nice" his version of nice to Vera and helping her and Blaise. Can't wait to read the next book, Dentention. I was bit surprised the story stopped before the big climax but maybe we will see more in the nxt book.
I would highly recommend reading this! A good girl, a bad boy, blackmail, secrets, love, drama and scandals and an excellent story!

This Bad Boy was the best! 5 stars

This Bad Boy Blaise was the best, because he may have been a bad boy but he was sweet too! I wrote “Aww” in my notes several times regarding Blaise. Even though circumstances surrounding Blaise and Vera weren’t sweet, I thought their love was as well. But together they were blazing fire! See what I did there! Vera had her own journey which I appreciated, and I loved that she wrote romance. I felt for Blaise many times. As for those circumstances, some of the twists surprised me and left me shocked. I didn’t want to put down this book, that’s how beguiling their love story was to me. I highly recommend this book and series!

DNF

He finds her smut pages, asks her to come to his car and she does. For some reason she hates him sooooo much, but hey let’s see what does he want from me. Mind you, we are 6% in … he says like two sentences and takes her virginity in his car….. they literally only have been exchanging only few sentences ever. 6% in the book she just hands him her virginity.

He then goes home and gets a blowjob from a school slut he cannot stand and doesn’t like. Why the ever loving fuck you then let her touch you? Unbelievable! And I don’t like H getting anything sexual from ow after h&H been sexually together.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I liked it although some things were a little crazy to imagine like how the staff and students dabbled in certain extracurriculars. Regardless, it’s still a great, spicy read where the FMC is writing and describing scenes in her own smutty books and the bad boy may or may not have her read it to him…

I honestly didn’t expect the plot twists in this one! In my opinion, it reads well as a standalone as I haven’t read the two books prior to this one.

Well this book is very very fictional. You start with the usual high school BS about a bad boy and the virgin good girl and then it escalate from there to mob and sex trafficking rings and stuff.
It’s good but really unrealistic!
For entertainment is good, I’ve read really fast and some parts are really good, it got me super curious about some characters and I pretend to read the other books for the fun of it.

This has to be my favorite story out of the Redwood series. I love Blaise and Vera’s love story. How they grew up together then was separated only to come together again. And of course there is drama I mean what’s a good book without some drama right? I love that they get their HEA. Highly recommend this book.
