How many monsters does it take to stop the greatest villain of all?
I've let myself become more of a monster than I ever wanted to. Now the shadowkind are flocking to my side, eager to stand with me.
But I don't know if I'm strong enough to foil to the villain who's put the whole world in his vicious sights. This borrowed heart might have given me my powers, but using them has rushed me toward my inevitable end.
I hate having to drag anyone else into this horrible battle with me... but if I can't find a way to build up my new army—and fast—the world as we know it will disappear.
*Hailed by Fiends is the final book in the Heart of a Monster series.*
Eva Chase lives in Canada with her family. She loves stories both swoony and supernatural, and strong women and the men who appreciate them. You can visit her online at www.evachase.com.
This has been a fun series. Crazy to think Quinn’s entire life gets turned upside down all because of a heart transplant she received that saved her life. Luckily for Quinn, her donor was connected to the spirit realm via sorcery thus giving Quinn some nifty powers. Somehow it’s hard to say if the world would have survived this battle without her so it’s a good thing everything works out as it did, plus she now has four men who’ll be devoted to her until she truly dies. Sad to think they’ll live on forever when she won’t 🙁 Catching the Leviathan was maybe not as hard as I would have expected but I did enjoy the buildup to the battle. The gathering of shadow kind and gaining their trust wasn’t easy but it was also a necessary evil, though I’m still a bit pissed that Torrent got his ass beat. I thought Sorsha’s character was fun, surprise to me since clearly I forgot that I already read her entire series, whoops lol. In the end I think I would have liked Quinn somehow becoming more monstrous or somehow part of their world more, just seems sad all she has now is their essence inside her and they’re HEA is on a schedule, one they all don’t share.

The final book is the best book. Not because of the writing or the this books plot. But because the whole series ties up in a nice bow. Action? Loads! And it's exhausting because you are so immersed in the world. It tugs at your own emotions.
Eva Chase somehow manages to add the roller coaster of acceptance and the difference types and overall effects and results in growth and life in the threads of her books. This one has it all over it, and you know what? I don't tire of this undercurrent lesson. Because the running events are so well written, it just all comes together.
Oh, and sooooo much smut!!! But also manages to add tenderness to being taken by 4 monsters at once. You feel the love growing or showing throughout the sessions. And boy, are they steamy!!! I mean, at one point, I had to stop listening as I passed a church at the moment Quill was having a double D Demon ride time! And I love our friends from "Flirting with Monsters" series joins us in this book again, and we get more of the disaster and her Monsters. But!!! Did Lance every meet Pickle? I feel like I needed a lance and pickle moment! Dragon kind cuteness!
It is a great series and can be read as a standalone. But does link back to "Flirting with Monsters," and you learn more reading them in order. And now I can go back to reading the next series in this universe "Shadowblood" and so much makes more sense now!!! 4.6 stars
Hailed by Fiends by Eva Chase is an urban fantasy romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Amber Lee Connors and Aiden Snow. This is the fourth and final book in The Heart of a Monster series.
I love Eva's books! She did a great job wrapping up the series. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Quinn, Torrent, Lance, Crag, and Rollick over the course of the series. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
Aiden and Amber did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this series if you're looking for an urban fantasy romances, why choose romances, or romantic suspense.
I loved how this series wrapped up. The narrators were fabulous. It was full of action and spice! I was hooked and couldn't put it down until I finished. I loved Quinn and her harem.
Hailed by Fiends is the fourth installment of The Heart of a Monster series. I always think it's kind of special when you enjoy every book in an entire series. Sure, you might not like or love them all equally, but you enjoyed them all.
This was definitely bittersweet for me. It's crazy to see how easily someone's life can be turned upside down. As for Quinn, I enjoyed getting to know her. I loved her character and everything she went through. It's just so sad for her to find this epic love, go through such tragedies, only to have a happily ever after for a short time. Not the same as her loved ones and I am just sad thinking about it all over again. The heartbreak they will be eventually going through makes my heart super sad.
Still, this book and series was quite enjoyable. I liked the overall build up to this battle. The characters were entertaining through and through. I would have liked for them to be together forever and ever, but it's not in the cards. Will have to look into another crazy series by Eva soon.
Final book and Quinn is back! All hell is breaking loose as Quinn and her mates get geared up for the fight of their lives. Fast paced and action packed this had me on the edge of my seat as I watched them face down the monster with their gathered allies and hoping against hope that it is enough to save the world!! It’s an incredible ending for an incredible series and I loved it!
I’m between a 3 ⭐️ & 4 ⭐️ but goodreads doesn’t do 1/2 stars.
I’m really glad I read the flirting with monsters books a few years before this series since these characters all seemed to help them save the day in the end. The phoenix and her men.
I’m surprised there were no “good” humans trying to fight or do anything. The witches/witches that she asked her help refused then were killed anyway. The only other helpful humans were the ones Rollick hired to make traps or arrows to help take down the enemy.
I liked that they saved her parents (because in the back of my head I kept thinking something was going to happen to them, and they did get them out just in time) she also has real heart to hearts abut her physical heart giving out.
I really appreciated that there wasn’t a magical “fit it” for both her heart and her squid/ octopus lover who keeps getting hurt and disfigured. I was worried there was going to be a simple solution (like with the shadow magic essence she had been taking into her body she was becoming 1/2 shadow monster or something where her heart was fixed and she never needed another transplant) but I truly appreciate that there wasn’t a cop out, the story was concise. She took her medicine 💊 twice a day no matter where she was and she even saw a doctor and was put on other medicine to help her when her heart was giving out.
Same with her lover he kept getting disfigured but he adjusted his life according and just kept going. I thought it was refreshing that his limbs didn’t just grow back or you take a magic potion and you went back to normal.
The characters were great and even what back to following her dreams of becoming an architect after the world went back to normal.
The spice was fun too

My review is written voluntarily after listening to the audio version of this book.
I have been enthralled by this series, I've loved every single book in it, and each one ended on a cliffhanger which made listening to the next book a total necessity. Eva Chase always comes up with characters and storylines which are engrossing and different.
This book brought to an end a series that fans of paranormal reverse harem stories will love, each of her guys/monsters if you will is uniquely different not only in appearance and skills but their characters too, they are all truly individuals. Each of them brings something else to the table and even the baddies are wonderfully different too, I don't know how Eva keeps coming up with such exciting and different storylines, but I for one am glad she does!
In this instalment, Quinn and her monsters have one last opportunity to defeat the Leviathan, but her transplanted heart, the organ which has been at the centre of this whole story seems to be growing weaker and isn’t handling the stress well. Their only chance is to build an army to defeat their enemy before her heart fails, something we've known from the beginning is inevitable. But will this be possible?
You can't help but feel for all five in this relationship, how will the guys cope when the inevitable happens even if they have somehow managed to defeat the Leviathan? How must Quinn feel knowing that her life is coming to an end soon?
I'm not going to say any more about this book, no spoilers from me, but what I will say was Eva, yet again, managed to surprise me, I loved the ending.
The narration of this book by Amber Lee Connors and Aiden Snow is perfection!
I have always enjoyed this author's books. This series is well written. The plot draws you in and makes you want to find out what happens next. The characters are also well developed, as is the relationship they form as a harem. That being said, I just had a hard time getting into this series. I gave it 4 stars because I can't find anything wrong with it. I just didn't care for Quinn. I felt like the heart condition made the relationship too "iffy". My mind wandered to "What happens when the heart gives out? What happens when she ages and they don't? " The relationship seemed impossible for any extended period of time. To me that's depressing. Yes, they have the here and now, but they don't have forever. The guys will eventually lose her since they're eternal unless they're killed. I thought the ending would bring some kind of happily ever after, but it only brought "happily until Quinn's life ends." I also felt that the author was trying too hard to make disabilities seer "overcomeable". In the real world I would say that is true. A disability doesn't identify a person. However, the disabilities of Quinn and Torrent were very distracting to the plot and made the fantasy I look for when reading very hard to obtain. I like reading paranormal books to escape realities. So thinking that her paranormal harem will lose her detracted from my enjoyment of the series . Hopefully that makes sense. The series was good. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I like my stories to have a happily ever after. This one seemed doomed in the end.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE HEART OF A MONSTER SERIES AS A WHOLE.
Eva Chase has done it again! The characters, the plot, the suspense, the spice🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️, it was all chefs kiss.🤌🏼 I don’t know what it is about this author and her books. It’s almost like she mixes all the vibes I loved about the paranormal YA books I read in my late teens/early20s with all of the spice and adult content I enjoy in my books now.
It’s been 6 months since I first read Flirting With Monsters. I’ve read it a second time since then and it still crosses my mind at least once a week so when I found out she was coming out with another series within the same universe I just had to dive in. I was NOT disappointed.🖤
I loved Quinn and all of her monsterous men and was very excited to see Sorsha and all of her shadowkind lovers as well. I also enjoyed that one of Quinn’s relationships was more of a slow burn. It kept things even more exciting in the romance department. Not that things aren’t exciting when you have claws, tentacles, and a gargoyle with a rock hard…well you know…😉
This is a must read if you like paranormal fiction, magical adventures, monsterous men, and a brave heroine willing to sacrifice everything to save the world.
! Hailed by Fiends, the fourth story in the Heart of a Monster series by Eva Chase was a sad ending to a fabulous series with well written plot, beautifully created characters and of course a phenomenal new paranormal world.
This final story of Quinn & her monsters is their last chance to defeat their enemies but you just can’t stop fearing for Quinn and her heart! Will they be able to overcome the obstacles in their way and win before her heart fails or are they doomed forever. Eva Chase definitely knows how to tie up a series perfectly and this one was no exception! Quinn and her men are absolute perfection!!
Overall this was a great ending to Quinn’s story and if you’re a fan of paranormal series with tons of action, spicy heat and fabulous characters then this is the one for you!
While I started book 4, I hoped they would be able to take on their enemy. The continued to be the little voice in the back of my head that kept whispering "what about Quinn's heart?" It seemed like such a long shot for her to get her happy ending. I read on with slight trepidation, not wanting to hope too much but needing to know what came next. The final battle was epic and the resolution of Quinn's situation actually made me laugh. I underestimated Rollick as well.
We get a wonderful flash forward to round out a satisfying ending to a wonderful series. I am so eager to go back to the world of the shadowkind again.
I received an advanced copy of this story and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This is the end of Quinn and her guys’ story. Everything has been building and this is where it all explodes. There are cameos (I’ve read out of order in this world, but from both other series, so that was obviously a bit of premonition at the end) and I loved having Sorsha back in here for a spell. For me, the race against Quinn’s heart was the biggest draw card. You can see her weakening and struggling more and more as the series progresses, and with the stress of the final battle drawing upon them it does things. Spoilery things that could have been worse, but it just kept building and my heart was thrumming alongside. It hasn’t replaced Shadowblood Souls as my favourite series in this world, but I’m still glad I read it.
Quinn & her monsters are at the last opportunity to defeat the leviathan, but her heart isn’t handling the stress very well. Can they find a way to build an army to defeat the enemy before her heart fails? Their relationships are pretty solid but what impact will everything have on them? This was a great ending to Quinn’s story, although I do wish the ending could be a bit different there are limits. Loved the cameos of some of our other favorites and the pacing went perfectly. Not a lot of steam but what there was, was 🔥 🌶 ! I’m looking forward to more insights in the Shadowkind world & hope we can continue with some cameos in the future.
I always love the supernatural elements in Eva Chase's books. It's why I keep reading the series, even though I'm not keen on the reverse harem genre. But I'm determined to finish all the series she wrote, and I just have to put up with all the sex scenes, which in this book, there're plenty! For instance, it didn't stop Quinn, even with her failing heart!
Anyway, the conclusion is alright, but it could be better with more extended fighting scenes, dramas, twists, etc. because I couldn't get enough of it in this book. The joint forces between the previous series' characters and this one made me think that perhaps we will get to see Sorsha and Quinn in the Shadowblood Souls series?
The fun really starts in this one, as that war that was brewing is fully underway now, it’s time to choose sides and no one’s survival is guaranteed. I enjoyed the more human aspect that came back up in this one, and still, the ever-evolving emotional complexity of Quinn’s monsters. This installment really packs it all, but you’ll definitely want to come in having read books 1-3.
Basically non-stop action.
4 stars.
🎧 Audio: The narrators were AMAZING—performing the book, rather than simply dictating it and they both had beautiful voices, so it made for a very pleasant listening experience. 5 stars.
Wow! What a tumultuous adventure that was! Quinn and her monstrous men are in for the fight of their lives. They have destroyed one of the deadly duo but now they must work together to defeat the the remaining Leviathan and he’ll stop at nothing to steal enough power to get what he wants. Quinn must battle with everything she has and hope her heart holds on long enough to save everything she loves. Hold onto your seats folks. It’s going to be a bumpy ride! Fabulous ending to another spectacular series!
Quinn and her men face a huge task. They must defeat the Leviatan, but each day that passes he gets stronger and more ruthless and Quinn's heart is starting to feel the strain. Quinn's relationships with her men is stronger as does their trust in each other. This is a thrilling read from start to finnish. The emotion and strength of character that Quinn and her men show is fantastic. I could not put the book down. I look forward to reading my by Eva Chase
An exciting conclusion to this entertaining series. Quinn and her men (shadowkind), have plenty of challenges with the leviathan throwing his power around, but will Quinn's borrowed heart take the beating of this challenge? Can they take this ancient being on, and win? I loved the relationship between Quinn and her men (and the steam between them), and how their adventure all played out. I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received, and giving my thoughts and opinions on it.
This final book was filled with suspense as Quinn and her monsters tried everything they could think of to stop the Leviathan from achieving its goal, all while battling her failing human body. I really liked that the heart issue was addressed and not magically fixed, and all the other loose ends were nicely tied up in this tense conclusion that included some sweet devotions from her monsters
Okay so i knew what was going to happen a couple books back.. for as smart as rollick is supposed to be come on he knew the whole answer... i know drawing it out etc... Either way this book was amazing and the perfect conclusion for the series. Quinn and her men are together at long last and they are doing their best to fight off the sea snake.. :)
I loved this series so much! I will never get enough of the shadowkind and their monstrous features!!
This book had me reeling with the different emotions that battered me! From hopelessness to love to anger to despair- it was a rollercoaster of feels and I loved every second of it!!
I loved the final book in the series! The action and heart wrenching scenes kept you hooked. It was well written and lived that they brought back Sorcha and her men into this series. I was hoping they found a way to make her live longer than a human. Definitely recommended.
Hailed by Fiends is book four in the series The Heart of a Monster by author Eva Chase. Well this series has come to an end and what an ending. Powerful- dark- brutal and sinful. HbF, won’t let you go until the last word- you’ll be on the edge of your seat. Yet, looks can be deceiving there’s a bit of a mystery- don’t blink or you might miss it. Enjoy!!
I really enjoyed this series. I often enjoy RH just for the smut aspect, which was done well. I appreciated that it wasn’t instalove even if it was instalust. I enjoyed the dive into disability of one MMC and the FMC. Chronic illness is difficult and dictates the way relationships develop and change over time. The only thing I would have liked more, was a deeper dive into the relationship between the FMC and her parents by showing more interactions between them. Overall, well done series.
Quite a bit of filler in this one. Could have wrapped up plot in previous book using a few more chapters. But an ok read.
Overall I really liked the characters and the story. I really appreciate Eva's ability to make characters physically diverse and depict characters that have physical limitations which do not stop them from kicking ass.
I really enjoyed reading this series especially because it was different from most of the books I've read before. Quinn is a powerhouse heroine even though she had a heart transplant and that is special in this series. I loved her monsters as I'm sure everyone who reads the series will too. Can't praise the storytelling enough and the ending was perfect!!!
Really enjoyed my first monster romance. I had to go all the way and make the jump a why choose to boot! The 4 book series was perfect, as I tend to lose interest after 3 or 4. Book 3 is still my favorite, but I really enjoyed the character growth, the struggle, and many of the scenes would make a sailor blush!
What an amazing ending for a phenomenal series. Eva is one of the best storytellers out there. I loved getting to see more of the shadowkind. This is an amazing world she’s created, and I can’t wait to read more in this world. This book wrapped everything up in ways I didn’t see coming. Overall, an amazing series!
