The Older Man

Rate this book
THE MYSTIQUE OF THE OLDER MAN

Beautiful and barely twenty-four years old, Jackie Du Marcel had fallen in love with an older man. A tall, dark and experienced older man who wanted nothing to do with a young, inexperienced woman! And even her identical twin sister couldn't help her this time--Jackie was on her own. But how was she to win the heart of Ben Davis?

Ben Davis was a no-nonsense businessman who knew better than to take what Jackie was offering. If she came by scantily clad, he'd close his eyes! If she was sweet and understanding, he'd stomp off! If she just jumped into the arms that were longing to wrap around her, he'd...be absolutely unable to resist her....

What kind of parents split their kids up and keep one each and then not bother keeping in touch? That's the premise on which this series is based. I haven't read the first book but here, twin 2 has come to small town america to get to know her mother and her family and meets the H. Right of the bat my judgey self came out so there was no redeeming the mum. But who cares she's a secondary character. Dad doesn't put in an appearance in the book. It was interesting in that the gender roles have been switched, the h has had several sexual relationships, the H only one. Problem was I didn't really like either them.

The h came across as spoilt and superficial but hey she's really beautiful. We are shown there is more depth to her but the romance is not developed enough to convince me the H fell in love with something other than the surface. He kept thinking he needs to stay away from her but then couldn't resist getting physical when she's around. Yep, you got it. The male version of treacherous body syndrome. Most men suffer from that in anycase (sexist of me I know).

yeh, so the romance...I wasn't convinced of the ily's. Even at the end he says 'When I'm around you, I feel young, carefree, full of energy' and I'm thinking that's not love just an early mid life crisis. Always involves young totty, especially as he kept on thinking about her 'tight' body.

There you have it, my judgey self at the forefront.
