Dream Big, My Precious One is a sweet, memorable, keepsake children’s book. I love everything about it—placing it on my 2021 Favorites List.

This charming book inspires our precious little ones to follow their dreams and become the person God created them to be. It displays diverse children dreaming big and trusting God to help them along the way.

“You might become a scientist, a doctor or zoologist, a nurse or archeologist. Dream big, my precious one.”

With lilting rhymes and colorful illustrations, this book showcases that children’s dreams are limitless, and encourages them to always dream big.

This is such a meaningful and encouraging book! This hardcover book has sturdy pages, is protected by a colorful slipcover, and includes a presentation page for gift giving. It’s a great addition to any children’s, caregiver’s, or grandparent’s bookshelf.

“I love to hold you close to me, imagining all that you might be—the things you’ll do, the sights you’ll see. Dream big, my precious one.”

Dream Big, My Precious One written by Jill Roman Lord and illustrated by Brittany E. Lakin is such a vibrant beautiful children's book.

I love to talk to children about their dreams and what they hope to do someday. Dream Big, My Precious One is a great book to help facilitate those dreams and conversations. The book has such vibrant, eye-catching illustrations. The repetition and rhythm are great and sure to keep a young child's interest. The book is aimed at 3 to 6 year olds, but would be good up to age 8 or second grade, depending on the child, I think. There is mention of God and the book includes the verse, 1 Chronicles 28:20 at the very end so it is aimed at Christian families.

My family really enjoyed Dream Big, My Precious One. It will likely be a favorite to pull out at our house when the littles come to visit. I should also mention the book is fairly large, 9 1/2 by 9 3/4 inches in size.

I received this book from Worthy Publishing. All opinions within this review are my own.

Review Title: All the Possibilities (Review of Dream Big, My Precious One by Jill Roman Lord)
Reviewer: Janice S. Garey
***** 5 Stars
The beautiful cover on this book beckons the reader to pick it up and look inside. In rhyming verse, the author puts in motion a trip for the young from which to view a vast range of occupations they might pursue. This book provides much opportunity for discussion and learning. The illustrations are creative, colorful, and clever. In particular this book works to establish good thinking that includes hope for the future. It portrays an orderly world where people use their education, skills, and talents in careers in service to help people. The book contains value as a conversation prompt on the importance of getting a good education to achieve goals. It is lighthearted with whimsical illustrations yet serious minded about potential future employment for the young.
Classroom teachers will want to use this book for career week when parents visit to talk about their work. It covers many occupations by naming and illustrating each one. Further definitions of the jobs will need to be supplied by the adult reading or teaching from the book. A positive message about effort rewarded will be found within the pages.
I won this book from a book blogger’s contest. The publisher, Worthy Kids, mailed a copy to me. I was under no obligation to review it, but liked it so much as to desire to share it with others. I have given my honest opinion in this review.

I read a lot of books and ever since I became an aunt and then a mama, I’ve become really fond of children’s books. So it was no surprise that I gave a resounding YES when I was approached to do a review of “Dream Big, My Precious One” by Jill Roman Lord. And it did not disappoint.

The words are beautiful and inspiring whether you are four or forty. The author uses a rhyming formula, which makes it especially pleasant to read and easier for little ones to remember.

The book encourages readers to Dream Big, work hard, try again if things don’t go as planned, and trust God through it all.

It’s a truly sweet book that would make a wonderful gift or addition into any children’s library.

I love to hold you close to me,
Imagining all that you might be
-the things you’ll do,
the sights you’ll see.
Dream Big, My Precious One.

This is a newly released children's book that will be enjoyed by preschool/early elementary aged children. There is so much to like about this book. The rhyming text is fun to read. The illustrations are colorful and well done, showing both boys and girls in many settings pursuing various "dreams"...."kick a soccer ball so far," "a captain on a sailing cruise," and "fight hunger, serve the poor." The font text is easy to read too with "Dream big my precious one" being a little large on each page. I also appreciate that it includes the reminder that God will help them as they pursue their dreams, whatever those may be.

I have had the thought this would make a nice book to give a child as he graduates kindergarten. His teachers through the years could even sign it for her/him and be a collection of memories when she/he graduates high school.

I received a copy of this book for my honest review from Hachette Book Group.

Dream Big, My Precious One — written by Jill Roman Lord and Illustrated by Brittany E. Lakin — has to be one of favorite children’s books now. I enjoyed reading it for myself! It was encouraging to see diverse careers mentioned, including a preacher. Without being overbearing, the book has small mentions of God and how He knows all the possibilities inside of us.

Anyone who wants to instill the value of hard work and share the idea of God with their child will find this book a delightful combination. I recommend it to anyone with small children ages two and up, or as a baby shower gift for the child later. The book is not specific to any type of Christian denomination, making it a splendid gift between believers.

Dream Big, My Precious One is a high-quality book printed with glossy, full color pages. The drawings themselves are lovely and friendly.

With Easter around the corner, it’s the perfect time to pick up a copy of Jill Roman Lord’s new book, Dream Big, My Precious One. This book is a delightful rhyming read that encourages young children to explore and imagine all of the ways they might fulfill God’s plans for their lives. Both boys and girls are highlighted throughout the illustrations as children consider a variety of exciting grown-up “dreams” including those focused on arts, sciences, faith, and more.

Children will want to read Dream Big again and again while homeschool parents and early education teachers will find it the perfect addition to a unit about Community Helpers or Careers.

A prolific children’s author, Jill Roman Lord has written another beautiful book for children. You can find more of her books here.

Parents have dreams for their children. Children have dreams for themselves. Jill Roman Lord has written a delightful picture book that encourages those dreams. The message is that God gave those dreams and while we may fall short, God is with us. I can see Dream Big, My Precious One becoming a favorite bedtime story.
Brittany E. Lakin created illustrations which will appeal to children. They compliment the text well. Dream Big, My Precious One would be a good addition to a Mock Caldecott unit.
Dream Big, My Precious One would be a great baby shower gift or gift for a new parent/grandparent. I think it could also find a place in the picture book section of a K-12 Christian school library.
I received a complimentary copy of Dream Big, My Precious One. This is my honest review.

This beautifully illustrated and impeccably rhymed text for little ones imagines the many dreams and callings God places in the heart of a child and how those dreams bless all involved. It's an ode listening to God's prompting and serving Him joyfully and with persistence. It would make a beautiful preschool or kindergarten graduation gift (since I know that is a thing now. ) =)

I am sorry this review did not post sooner. I thought I posted it right away I must have forgotten. We read the story to my grandson all the time. He loves saying “my precious one”. This is a wonderful book and we enjoy it very much.

A great book, where the title well covers the subject matter (with a mention, but not focus on God). I also oved the diversity of the kids in the artwork, something often missing in books

“And when you reach your dreams and soar, my precious child that I adore, ask God to help you dream up more!” Jill Roman Lord rhymes at the beginning of the children’s book, Dream Big, My Precious One.

~ What ~
This thirty-two-page oversized hardbound book targets children ages three years to six years old. With no scary scenes, it focuses on promoting imagination, creativity, and dreams, knowing God is with us each step of the way. Detailed and charming full-color illustrations grace the pages with an easy-to-read font size.

After a to and from page to fill out, the tale focuses on inspiring a young child to dream big and follow through as one grows up to become whatever they desire with hard work and dedication. Besides mentioning many vocations in a rhyming format, it also reminds us that God gave us these dreams to fulfill, and He is by our side throughout our lives.

~Why ~
This is a nice book to read to a young child who is inquisitive about options for the future. I not only appreciated the rhyming format but also that it mentions things a little one can do at a young age while progressing to adult jobs such as an astronaut, counselor, cruise captain, nurse, preacher, and zoologist. Adding that achieving dreams takes time, repeated efforts, and falling short sometimes, it reinforces to trust in God and know the love of the one reading the book to the child.

~ Why Not ~
Those who do not like books that mention God and His constant love and protection may not like this book. Others may find the two and three-syllable words too hard for beginner readers.

~ Wish ~
I wish this book had illustrations that included fathers as it only has a mother with the child two times.

~ Want ~
If you are looking for a charming bedtime read for a preschooler, this one that inspires imagination and motivation when looking toward the future will delight many.

Thanks to Hachette Book Group, WorthyKids, and the author for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.

Read This Book to Stir Big Dreams

Children have vivid imaginations and DREAM BIG, MY PRECIOUS ONE stirs those dreams with different possible occupations. Simple rhyming verse from Jill Roman Lord combines with imaginative and colorful illustrations from Brittany E. Lakin. The combination makes this book a delightful reading experience for the child and the parent. It is a book you and your child will want to read over and over.

The message of this book points to different occupations. Yet the text gives a realistic message about what is involved in finding success and achievement. For example: “It won’t just happen overnight. You have to want it. Work hard. Fight. Train well and strive with all your might. Dream big, my precious one.”

I love the expansive message for children (and their parents) through DREAM BIG, MY PRECIOUS ONE. I highly recommend this book and hope it will become a favorite for parents.

With a nice rhyming pattern and beautiful illustrations, this one is a fun look at many of the things kids might dream of or look forward to, both for fun and for careers. The second half of the book explains that the dreams come from God, and that effort is required to reach them. That falling short is normal, and to keep trying, because whatever it is, it's not just for you, since most things affect others.
Wonderful truths for kids, wrapped up in a fun story!

I received a copy of this book from the author, and chose to review it here. All thoughts are my own.

“God gave you dreams before your birth to work toward while you’re on this earth. He knows all you can do, your worth. It won’t just happen overnight. You have to want it. Work hard. Fight. Train well and strive with all your might. You may fall short, but that’s okay. Then try again, a different way. Keep trusting God, don’t go astray. Dream big my precious one.” Poetic and well said ❤️❤️❤️❤️
