The premise of this poetic and appealing book, that ‘tiny treasures hold great potential’ is a beautiful reminder of the amazing things that nature has for us, each and every day. It reminds us of the treasures and possibilities that we can discover when we head outside and pay attention, and, that everything is connected. This would be a fantastic book to read before going outside on a walk! The illustrations complement the lyrical text and I think this book could be read time and time again. Highly recommended!

This lyrical picture book is literally full of possibilities. What starts as grains of sand can lead to gigantic sandcastles; a caterpillar will one day spread its wings and soar. It all starts as something small that can fit In The Palm of My Hand. Can't wait to read this for preschool storytime. A great book for Spring as we reconnect with the great outdoors.

In the Palm of My Hand is a picture book about small things, expansive concepts, and interconnectivity in the natural world. Is an acorn in the palm of your hand just an acorn? Or does it contain the potential to become a forest? Young readers will mull this question and more as they enjoy the soft illustrations, lyrical text, and repeating phrase, “In the palm of my hand.” They’ll consider how big things—like the plant world, the animal world, the weather, and the oceans—depend upon little things for their existence, and how love brings out our own true potential as individuals.

It is truly the perfect bedtime story for all children; such a comforting way for a child to end the day before bed and assuredly have a nice sleep after all the beautiful illustrations!

With its lyrical text and stunning illustrations, IN THE PALM OF MY HAND is the perfect ode to the small, yet beautiful and important wonders of the natural world. The gorgeous paintings lend the spare and poetic text just the right amount of room to breathe. Amid a busy and hectic world, this book is such a great reminder for children to simply stop and look, and also so beautifully affirms that they are as much a part of the universe as the universe is a part of them.

IN THE PALM OF MY HAND is exquisitely beautiful from cover to cover. Jennifer Raudenbush’s lyrical language engages and delights while Isabella Conti’s illustrations take the eye on a whimsical journey.

Together they celebrate promise and potential, the ordinary turned extraordinary. A butterfly depicts magic, grace, and wonder. Wildflowers hold seeds and wishes. A grain of sand leads to castles and adventure.

This tribute to nature’s treasures and the interconnectedness of the world also asks readers to contemplate what lies in an empty hand? What lies within you?

A beautiful story about the potential of simple objects to undergo magnificent transformations such as a single acorn turning into a forest. The lyrical language makes this book a joy to read aloud as the story takes you on a journey where each page has a new natural object with new possibilities. The illustrations compliment the text beautifully. I loved following butterflies across the pages and then discovering an adorable seagull I could keep finding. Closing with the idea that every child contains endless possibilities, this book is both comforting and inspiring.

Raudenbush’s comforting, lyrical text combined with Conti’s dreamy illustrations make this the perfect book to read to a child snuggled on your lap. Definitely add this one to your bookshelf!

Beautiful, lyrical book shows how small things (like an acorn) connect to a much larger picture (like a forest with a towering oak tree) and reminds readers that even though they are small, there’s a world of infinite possibilities open to them.

In the Palm of My Hand by Jennifer Raudenbush will invite children to ponder their place in the world and to think about how everything, even the tiniest grains of sand, has infinite potential. The beautiful lyrical language sings with emotion, creating a perfect rhythm. The soft and gentle illustrations by Isabella Conti help to bring the words to life and provide a thread, in the form of a butterfly, to guide the reader through the text. This is a book that can spark discussion, invite exploration, and encourage children to think about the possibilities in the world around them and within them. A wonderful read-aloud at any time!

I dare anyone to read this book and not want to go outside instantly to spend time in nature. The words and art are lovely and peaceful, simple and lyrical...yet containing so much to ponder (ideally while on a nature walk!). An acorn contains a towering forest, a seed contains a gorgeous wildflower meadow, and a kid contains infinite possibilities and potential. A beautiful book with a beautiful message.

In the Palm of my Hand engagingly depicts some of the small things in nature which we initially may view as insignificant, the vast potential they hold and their wondrous interconnection to the earth and universe. The author seamlessly weaves into her final message, this potential that lies within all of us. An important lesson in a simply beautifully written and illustrated book. Kudos to the author!

The text and illustrations weave together flawlessly to remind us that great things come in (from) small packages. Will appeal to children who are always picking up small treasures and imagining what they could be. Perfect and comforting ending- the child feels loved and capable of becoming anything and everything.

What a lovely book! A young child holds an acorn in his hand and realizes he holds a future oak tree that will be part of a big forest someday. Later, he realizes the caterpillar he holds will soon be a butterfly that flitters and flutters in the sky. So many little things have potential to be so much more. It was such a joy to read this beautiful debut. The lovely lyrical writing by Raudenbush paired perfectly with the wonderful watercolors from Conti. I got teary eyed on the spread where the boy holds his mother's hand, that's what I get for having two boys of my own! The message of "anything is possible" is perfect for children of all ages.
