Temptation could destroy everything he’d spent his career building…
Professional hockey player Jean-Michel Vander is living the dream…. And the Las Vegas strip is a long way from the small town in Quebec where he grew up. He works hard but he plays harder, especially in the off-season. The sexy redhead he spots doing a striptease in a Paris nightclub is all kinds of fun.
Until he finds out who her father is… and she becomes all kinds of trouble.
College graduate Daisy DeSantos is living her best life spending the summer traveling abroad with her friends in Europe. Before heading back home to Las Vegas to start her new life, she wants to live a little. When she dances with a handsome stranger in a nightclub, she gets more than she bargained for: a viral video and a fake boyfriend.
The pretend relationship might have started out as a cover story, but their feelings are anything but fake.
5 star Review Van (Sidewinders:Generations #4) by Kat Mizera
Jean-Michel Vander (aka Van) and Daisy DeSantos’s story was a wonderful addition to the Sidewinders Generations series, He is known to play hard both on and off the ice. Meeting Daisy in Paris he is attracted to her and it’s supposed to be a fling.
However when things get out of hand and a video gets out, Van is shocked to learn that Daisy is the step daughter of his head coach. Trouble has just landed and now they need to come up a plan to combat the publicity.
Agreeing to a fake relationship neither of them realize how their lives are about to change. What happens when fake feelings quickly become real? The story was witty, emotional, romantic and had some drama making for an entertaining read. I enjoy Kat Mizera’s writing, her stories are engaging with wonderful characters who are easy to relate to.
I loved the road they travelled as their relationship developed. However, what takes this story to another level is the camaraderie and friendships between the players and their partners.
Once again, Kat Mizera thoroughly entertains with her excellent word wizardry! Honestly, the whole fake relationship to more is not remotely new or even that unpredictable, so why pick this book up anyways? Well, because more often than not, Kat makes her stories seem like you’ve never read anything like them before! She always has an engaging plot and characters you not only want to root for, but maybe want to be friends with! And she did all that in this story!
Another aspect I love about Kat’s style is how she makes sure to interconnect past characters into present stories. It makes you feel like you’re growing with characters you’ve read in the past while meeting new ones! This is obviously a characteristic that’s inherent to a series revolving a team or family or close-knit friends, but she goes further and involves secondary characters as well. All the circles are in the books people, and I love it!
I loved Van & Daisy as individuals and their story as well. I mean Kat had me at their meet! What are the chances of hooking up with your head coach’s stepdaughter while taking a little me time in another country?! I mean … sign me up please! LOLOL (see, one of the many nuances that Kat adds to an overly done trope that make it special to her!!)
This one threw me a bit for a couple of reasons. First, last we saw of Daisy she was happy with her stepfather's godson, so it was odd seeing her flirt with Van. Second, through out this series so far, there hadn't been much mentioned about Van, mostly about his name and that he was French Canadian. Once I got both characters set in my head, the book went well.
I found how these 2 met to be so funny, what would be the odds that 2 people with their connection would meet in a country neither of them lived in. The connection both of them felt was big, that instant spark urging them on. I found it funny how the one video changed the plans that both of them had going forward, but the fake relationship made sense to protect them both. Van was a bit cold in his deadline. It drove me nuts how he kept saying how he didn't have the capability to have a real relationship, but not explain and the explanation came so late in the book. After hearing that it made sense. But Van also showed that he had grown since then and when faced with something similar he stepped up, which made the ending so good.
Van is book 4 in the Sidewinders: Generations series - which is a sports / hockey romance series. This book starts off with a "fake romance" that obviously leads to more. While this trope in itself is a new concept, the author does a great job making it her own and adding some spice to it.
The main characters in this one are Van and Daisy. Daisy is the head coach's stepdaughter. Whoops, right? But what makes it even more.. interesting is Van hooks upw ith Daisy while he's in a totally different country taking some time to himself to relax. So who would have thought?
The author does an amazing job with the world bulding, character development, and keeping the stories in the series connected. Can't wait for the next one!
Van is a professional hockey player who is enjoying a little down time in Paris before the stress and demands of the season begins. While there he meets a sexy stranger and what was supposed to be one night turns into so much more when not only does it become a media frenzy, but she is his coach's stepdaughter.
Daisy was just looking to have some fun before she returned home and had to focus on her career. She and Van decide that it is in both their best interests to pretend to be a couple but between the unexpected feelings as well as the complications of his past and her present they are in for a bumpy ride.
The chemistry between them was never in question but they had some challenges until they learned to trust and believe in each other. Daisy and Van draw you in and it is always great to catch up with the other characters we know and love.
This is a great addition to the Sidewinders Next Generation series. Daisy Desantos catches Jean-Michel Vander’s attention while dancing in Paris nightclub. They are both out celebrating their birthday with friends. Their attraction leads to an unforgettable one night stand.
A video Daisy’s friends post of her doing a faux striptease goes viral when people recognize Jean-Michel as Van of the Las Vegas Sidewinders NHL team. It’s a small world because Daisy’s stepfather is Jared Wylde, head coach of the same team.
They come up with the idea of a temporary fake relationship to keep Jared from trying to destroy Van’s hockey career. Van and his best friend Slava join Daisy and her girlfriends Zoe and Eden in exploring Paris and London before Van and Daisy return to Las Vegas.
The only fake part of their relationship is how they supposedly meet before their nightclub meet up. These two had a strong connection and quickly developed feelings. Daisy struggles with the relationship having a planned end date and keeping her heart from completely falling for Van. Van insists he isn’t capable of having a long term relationship and not a still dealing with the emotional scars of a past relationship where he let someone down and they ended up hurt.
A good portion of this book takes place in Paris and London, two of my favorite cities. Once Daisy and Van return to Vegas the vacation fling/relationship gets more challenging as Daisy starts her first job and is miserable and Van gets ready for training camp. Both characters have to grow and develop to make their relationship work, and Van has to learn to forgive himself for his past actions when he was still a teenager.
I enjoyed this book and the chance to see many of the Sidewinders and their significant others. I’m a huge fan of Kat Mizera and this newest book definitely delivers a fun, entertaining and emotionally satisfying reading experience.
I received a free ARC from the author and her publisher; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This story was a surprise to me. I knew the characters names but until I started reading this story, I did not realize who the female lead was, who Daisy was and her connection to the whole Sidewinder series was.
So here is the scoop, she is Renee's daughter and Jared's stepdaughter, and this story takes place three years after the events that happened in Jared's book. I read Jared's book when it came out and loved it but as I was reading this book, I did not remember all the details and so around 20% I went back and re-read Jared's book. I highly suggest you do because a lot of stuff happens with Daisy in that book and it's a great way to get to know her prior to reading this book.
In this story we catch up to her as she has graduated college in Switzerland and is now in Paris celebrating when she runs in Jean Michel "Vander" who is a player on her dads Sidewinder Las Vegas team but when they meet, they have no idea about their connections to the team.
But when they do, they realize they have to fake a relationship so Jared is not upset with Vander and that's where things a bit messy with Vander as he tells Daisy they can fake date for 3 months but no more because he doesn't do relationships. So, he and Daisy enter into a fake relationship while just being friends. But how long can that really last as both are crazy in lust with each other. And so, the fun begins...
This was a really fun story. I loved how these two meet and then when they discover their Vegas connection. I also adored Daisy in Jared's book and so it was awesome to catch up with her again and see how she had changed in the three years and also the changes in Jared and Renee's life as well.
Van is a professional hockey player for the Las Vegas Sidewinders who is in Paris with his best friend celebrating his birthday in a Paris nightclub. Van notices a hot redhead dancing with her friends. When Van locks eyes with the redhead, sparks fly between the two and leads to a night neither will forget. Daisy is spending her summer traveling Europe with her friends before she heads home to Las Vegas to start her new job. When a video her friends goes viral of her fake striptease, Van and Daisy find themselves having to explain themselves to Daisy's mother and stepdad, Van's coach with the Sidewinders. Daisy and Van agree to a fake relationship to keep Van's career from being torpedoed by his coach. Daisy and Van develop feelings for each other as they find it difficult to keep their hands off each other. Will Daisy let a job that makes her miserable control her life? Will Daisy take a leap of faith when it comes to what she wants to do with her life? Will Van learn to forgive himself for his past actions before they cost him his future with Daisy? Will Van be there for Daisy when she needs him the most? Can Daisy break down Van's walls he has built around his heart? Can Van open up to Daisy about his past? Can Daisy and Van find their happily ever after? I really loved Van by Kat Mizera. Van and Daisy are a great couple with amazing chemistry. I loved watching Van and Daisy grow as a couple as they learned to consider each other's feelings when making decisions that affected both of them. I would highly recommend getting Van and the other books in the Sidewinders: Generations series. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
What can go wrong when out with friends in Paris for your birthday? Well for Daisy Desantos and Jean-Michel Vander it felt like nothing go wrong and they have a great night together. It is later on when a friend of Daisy's post a video of a faux strip tease that everything goes wrong. Sidewinders head coach Jared Wylde just happens to be Daisy's stepfather. Jean-Michel Vander (Van) is in hot water and if he and Daisy don't pretend to be in a relationship so may his hockey career. They spend time together exploring Paris and London before returning to Las Vegas. While together they start to feel the pull and chemistry between them so once they return it really isn't a fake relationship...the only thing they have to remember is that they met before that night at the club. Van like most males doesn't believe he is built for a long term relationship after proving that in the past and dealing with the residual guilt of hurting someone. Daisy on the other hand can't seem to warm up to the idea of the relationship having a end date and trying to protect her heart. When they return to Las Vegas is when things start to get real and real world issues start to effect them. Daisy is miserable at her new job and Van is getting ready for training camp. They both have to learn how to balance real life and relationship through out the story to make theirs work. Watching them both grow and learn how to consider someone else's feelings when making decisions and choices was a great thing to read.
This was a great story that really got you to be invested in the characters and made you want them to have their HEA. Jean-Michel Vander (AKA Van) and Daisy DeSantos (the sidewinders coach's step daughter!) meet in Paris - neither knowing who the other is. But when the video of them goes viral, Van and Daisy need to come up with a story so that coach does not think he is taking advantage of Daisy. So they decide that they will 'fake' date and split up amicably in three months. When they return home, Daisy starts a new job for an appalling man who dislikes her because he thinks her stepfather got her the job and Jean-Michel heads to training camp. Van thinks he is not cut out to be in a relationship because of something in his past and that is why he puts a time limit on the fake relationship, as he doesn't want to hurt Daisy. When Daisy discovers something about Van's past that he has kept a secret, she confronts him, but ultimately decides she has to leave. Like all good heroes, Van is there when Daisy needs him and that's when he realizes that perhaps he is worthy of love and relationships. A well written story, with heat, chemistry and a great secondary romance between Slava and Zoe that will get you in the mood for some Knight's books.
I am an absolute fan of the original Sidewinders series and the Sidewinders: Generation is a great continuation. I fell in love with this novel from page one. I loved the concept of someone being just a little off-limits and then finding out that an imposed timeline to be together is just isn't enough. The way Van and Daisy meet is a little unconventional, and even though their time together needs to be limited with set boundaries, when some thing works well together, it's hard to let it go back to what was there before. I liked Daisy’s character as she ventures into a new career and the start of new responsibilities and make a name for herself, and not rely on family name and connections. However, I really loved Van, all the layers of his life are peeled away and exposed and the reader gets a true understanding of why he feels the way he feels, and does the things he does. It's wonderful to see these two characters go through this journey together. It isn't always easy, it might not always be pretty, but it's a road that needs to be taken and I am glad we are along for the ride. Another great addition to the Generation series, exactly what you would expect from this author.
Sexy, sweet and a little bit naughty, Jean-Michel (Van) and Daisy will have readers hooked from the moment they cross paths. Meeting in Paris, not realizing their connection back in Vegas, these two start out with a flirty summer fling that becomes more than either expected. Van is affectionate and passionate but has his mind set on being emotionally unavailable beyond a casual relationship. Daisy isn’t looking for anything serious since she is headed home to Vegas after 4 years abroad for school, but when part of her and Jean-Michel’s time together accidentally winds up viral on the internet they decide the best thing is to pretend their fling is more than just a fling. Having an end date doesn’t stop the lines from blurring though and it is obvious to anyone around them that these two have a connection most people wish they could find. They must experience a series of difficult obstacles before Jean-Michel finally realizes he CAN be the man Daisy needs by her side. Another fantastic addition to the Sidewinders Generations series, this couple will have readers falling in love!
“Van” is spicy, sweet and oh so nice in all the right ways. I devoured this book in just a couple hours because I could not put down Van and Daisy’s story.
Jean-Michel is on vacation in Europe with a friend to relax before the new season starts. While out a club, he meets Daisy and has an instant connection with her. Daisy is also on vacation after graduating college. The two have an incredible night together but when a video of them leaks, they find out how much they have in common. Van plays for the Sidewinders and Daisy is the stepdaughter of the coach.
I loved this fake (but not really because of their insane chemistry) dating story. It was so good and deliciously steamy. One scene in particular had me fanning myself and turning up the A/C. Van is so caring and a delicious dirty talker, especially in French. I loved Daisy’s need to succeed on her own and make something of herself. These two together were sizzling hot and one of my favorite couples from the Sidewinders world. All the emotions are in this book and will be a re-read for me.
This is Jean-Michel Vander (Van) and Daisy DeSantos’s journey and for me it’s the perfect addition to the wonderful Sidewinders: Generations Series. This book ticked all my boxes and I have no problem recommending it to all sports romance lovers. Van is not looking for love he plays hard and fast on and off the ice and when he met Daisy in Pars durning the off season it was only meant to be a fling. But when a video is leaked of them together and then finding out Daisy is the step daughter of his head coach he knows he needs to do something to protect the woman he is smitten by. A fake relationship seems to be the perfect solution but what happens when you the attraction goes beyond lust, what happens when’s real feelings come into play…. One click now to find out . I fell hard and fast for Van, I adored Daisy and her group of friends but what made this a very special read was watching the player show his vulnerability and one you add in the bonds shared between the players and their partners you get a fantastic journey.
Jean-Michel Vander (Van) was out celebrating his birthday with a friend and looking for a hookup. Daisy DeSantos was out looking to celebrate her birthday with two girlfriends and finishing their college degrees. When the two end up together at the bar, neither expected it to lead to anything, until it did. Their first night together was epic, until they discover she is the stepdaughter of his coach and off limits. Her friends had posted a video of them online and now everyone knows. Desperate to save his career, they decide to have a fake romance.
It was fun seeing how they met in Paris and ended up with the five friends enjoying their vacation. Following Van and Daisy as they struggle towards their HEA brought out many emotions, happy they found each other, sad Daisy had a lousy job and was insecure about her relationship with Van. And Van afraid of leaving Daisy with a broken heart.
One of my favorite things about Kat’s books is that characters from the previous books tie and I get to catch up with them.
This was a beautiful story. I just love the way that things developed between Jean-Michel (Van) and Daisy. It was unexpected and perfect. I also love that we got a bit of a secondary love story between Slava and Zoe. I have to admit I only gave this story 4 stars because even though I love that Daisy recorded those conversations I wish she hadn't been such a push over when it came to a job she hated and that rude man.
My heart ached because Jean-Michel didn't think he was worthy of love. He was young, immature and what happened was horrible. But everyone deserves a second chance at love, especially him.
Normally fake relationships aren't my thing. But this one I knew had forever written all over it, no matter what Van thought. It was written in a pretend strip tease in a Paris night club. It was written in the stars above the Eiffel Tower. It was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

Kat Mizera was clever to include several of my trope interests - taboo relationship/fake relationship/hockey hottie (with a sexy accent - I know I can only hear it in my brain while reading but that is what an imagination is for). Jean-Michel aka Van to his teammates is having fun in the off season traveling Europe with his hockey pal. Celebrating his upcoming birthday he spots a beautiful woman that he would love to have at least once. He has a no relationship rule. His night with her is awesome but that is all can be right? Daisy is celebrating with her college friends, hitting the town before reality must set in and she has to begin her "LIFE"! When she spots this sexy man in the bar, whom she provides an awesome table dance for, they connect but this is just a vacation fling right? Oh the trouble that ensues that must include a fake relationship with a deadline. Kat Mizera knows how to warm my heart even on the ice.

I loved my Sidewinders and am so glad I am getting an extension of them through this new series. I absolutely adored Van and Daisy’s story. Van is reeling from a tragic past relationship and living the playboy life. While vacationing in Paris, he decides to have some one night fun with a girl he meets in a club. When this girl turns out to be the coach’s daughter who is entirely off limits, things get complicated. Daisy is partying it up, enjoying the end of her college days and getting ready to enter the real world. Things get really real for her when she finds out who Van truly is and a fake relationship to save them both turns out to be more than they bargained for. I loved watching these two grow and find their way and the side characters were just as fun. I also love that old characters are incorporated in and I get a chance to see characters I fell in love with from past books. This a great, fun read you will absolutely love.
Hockey player Jean-Michel (Van) Vander was spending his summer partying his way through Europe with his best friend Slava when he meets this gorgeous redhead Daisy DeSantos dancing with her friends in a Paris bar. Daisy was spending a few weeks with friends on vacation before returning to the United States to be an adult with a job.
It would have been a fling in Paris for Van and Daisy but everything changes when a video of Daisy dancing goes viral because Daisy is the step-daughter of Van’s head coach. Oops!
I love the Sidewinders: Generations because there are so many connections between all of the characters in the books.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and Elle Woods PR. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Kat Mizera is heating things up with VAN (Sidewinders: Generations #4). NHL star Jen-Michel Vander meets recent college graduate Daisy DeSantos at a nightclub in Paris in the off-season. A video of them at the club goes viral. Neither one knew who the other one was Van a player on the Las Vegas Sidewinders and Daisy the coach Jared Wylde’s (JARED, Las Vegas Sidewinders #12) stepdaughter. The two agree to pretend to date to smooth things over.
I enjoyed this story. It was fun following the characters and their friends in Europe. Jen-Michel was traveling with his friend from Russia, Slava. Daisy was traveling with two girlfriends from college Zoe and Eden. When Van and Daisy get back to Vegas, Daisy starts a job at the Sidewinder’s arena in the marketing department. She has some horrible experiences with her new boss. The two have amazing chemistry; however, Van has a secret that makes him not want to be in a relationship.
Van is a heartfelt and entertaining story. It is skillfully written. I love that characters from Kat Mizera’s other series are included in this novel. I’m looking forward to Decker’s story next. I am also excited about Slava and Zoe’ story in the Lauderdale Knights series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Fun, fresh, feel-good romance! Kat Mizera is known for her hockey hunks, but when a chance meeting abroad leads Van into a fake/turned all too real romance with his coach's daughter you know it's going to be a fun ride! I enjoyed every minute of Daisey and Van and can't wait for more to come in the series.
Jean-Michel is hardworking and dedicated to his game, but watching him let his guard down and truly enjoy time with Daisey is super sweet.
Daisy might have had a lot handed to her in life, but she's determined to make it on her own now that she's stepping into the workforce ... too bad she lucked into a jerk of a first boss.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys a close knit group of hockey players who play as hard off the rink as on but love hard once they fall.
This started out entertaining with Jean-Michel/Van and Daisy hooking up in Paris and with the two of them and their three other friends hanging in Paris in London for the remainder of their summer vacations before returning to real life.
The two realize that their having an intense fling and due to an unfortunate video of Daisy performing a strip tease, TEASE being the operative work, popping up online and going viral, decide to continue their relationship with an end date in 90 days. However chemistry has a way of leading to emotions.
Once the two are back in Vegas, the story kind of fizzled for me and throwing in the mention of Club Inferno and dropping in team members and their WAGS just felt gratuitous to me. I guess all the drama has finally worked it's way out of the series for me. Shame. It was rather fun in a soap opera kind of way.
Van is an amazing read. I loved this one so much. I could not get enough of Van and Daisy. This is my favorite of the Sidewinders: Generations so for. This meet cute turns into more when it comes to Van and Daisy. I love how they turn their little one night into this pretend relationship. They burn up the pages as they get to know each other better. When things stop being fake and start getting real you are not going to be able to put this down. I was glued to the pages from the very start. I feel in love with damaged Van and trying to finally adult Daisy. If you have not had a chance to read this series yet you need to. Daisy and Van are everything and will steal your heart. Go one click this one now.
This is the 4th book in this incredible series, and this is Van and Daisy’s story. Van is a professional hockey player, who works hard and plays harder. Daisy is a college graduate who is travelling abroad with her friends, and she meets Van when he spots her in a nightclub. When a video of Daisy dancing goes viral, she and Van pretend to be in a fake relationship, only for him to find out that she is his coaches’ stepdaughter. This is a beautifully written story which is fun and entertaining, with humor, witty banter, family, friendships, romance, emotions, and love, which leads to a compelling page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Van is a professional hockey player (a Las Vegas Sidewinder), spending the summer in Europe with a friend of his. Daisy is a college graduate who is also spending the summer in Europe. She an Van meet in a nightclub and she meets Van when he spots her in a nightclub. They spend a night together neither really knowing who the other person is. When a video of Daisy dancing goes viral,Van is recognized as the hockey player he is and finds out that Daisy is his coach's stepdaughter. They decide to pretend to be in a relationship to appease everyone. Van and Daisy's story was fun. It was a joy to watch them fall in love. I also enjoyed Van's friendship with Slava and Daisy's friendship with her girls. It was great to get another story in the Sidewinders world!
This is a really great book and I couldn’t put it down. Loved the instant heat between Jean-Michel (Van) and Daisy. But it turns out she’s his coach’s step daughter whom the team has been warned to stay away from. They hatch a plan, but will her heart be broken at the end? I did cry for them and love being this emotional in a book. I felt for him as he still feels guilty over what happened in his past with his ex wife. Will he realize he’s in love with Daisy? This book is worth re reading and I loved their happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.
Oh I really loved this book! Was nice to see Daisy again and hear her story! Van and Daisy meet while she is celebrating graduating with trip through Europe with her friends. Van and his buddy are traveling as well before their respective Hockey seasons begin. These two are so hot and steamy! They set Paris on fire! But the fun is just beginning. Their lives are intertwined in a way they did not foresee. I love Daisy and her brvery in making decisions that she seems fit for the time in her life. LOVE Daisy's mom and step dad and so many others I have missed over time. If you love the Sidewinders this is a do not miss!
Get ready for a fantastic addition to the Sidewinders: Next Generation series! Van (Jean-Michel Vander) and Daisy DeSantos start their relationship when they meet in France and embark on a whirlwind European romance but they get back home to Vegas they have to face the real world and that’s where things get complicated. They put a deadline for when their relationship was supposed to end, but neither of them truly wanted that to happen. Van, however, had to get his head out of his butt and tell Daisy the real reason he didn’t do relationships. What they did have is a connection, a lot in common and out of bounds chemistry and that apparently finally trumped his issues!
Where do we find Van at the beginning of the story and who is he with? Who are Daisy, Eden, and Zoe? Where are they at and what are they celebrating? What does Daisy leave with Eden and Zoe? Why? Who is Jean-Michel? What does Daisy do to walk on the wild side? Who is Jared and how do both Daisy and Van each know him? What happens when they realize who everyone is? Who is Slava? Where does he fit into this picture? Who is Frank and why do we meet him? What do we learn about him? I liked him a lot! He was a good guy! Oh, so many happy, funny, tense, and suspenseful things happened in this story!
