Né en 1980 à Senlis, Anthony Boile est diplômé en histoire de l’art et travaille comme agent du ministère de la Culture dans un monument historique. Il a notamment travaillé sur Kat Onoma, le Velvet Underground et Leonard Cohen, à travers des articles, entretiens ou conférences musicales. Il a dirigé l’ouvrage collectif Éloge du transport, à propos de Rodolphe Burger (Filigranes, 2016) et écrit The Stranglers, Black and White (Densité, 2020).

First all of this is a review of the recently released English translation which I preordered as soon as got wind of it. Been a fan of the Stranglers since 1977 and have seen all the line ups, including the brief spell when Hugh Cornwell and John Ellis were both in the band at the same time, although yet to see the current version.

It is not written in the standard chronological order, but with thematic chapters, which really does work. JJ freely admits that it was, at times, hard going in the 90s but the release of the excellent Norfolk Coast was a major boost to both the band and their fans.

Still going strong and top notch both on stage and in the recording studio. This is a must read for fans of the Stranglers.
