This is a collection of stories, all about witches, supposedly collected from different sources. Most of them I have heard of before, but some were new to me. The reproduced pictures were actually more interesting than the stories, which did leave me disappointed. I know this isn't supposed to be a huge volume on witches, but there was little balance given. Some stories seemed to be on the side of the witches (or the innocents accused of sorcery), sometimes on the people persecuting them, but little real discussion was given on each entry. Instead, each story should be read as a stand alone piece of folklore and other volumes used to gain a real insight into them. For me, the best bit of the whole book was the poem or speech at the beginning, which makes me shiver each time I read it.
