Everyone at Ryder High knows what it means to have a teal envelope taped to their locker on the first of the month. Sofia Castillo didn’t get that. But she did a giant ice cream sandwich delivered to her house with her envelope. Things take a turn when her family goes on vacation the day after her envelope arrives. It throws a wrench in her secret admirer’s plan, and he has to change tactics and deliver clues via text instead. Sofia knows it’s someone close to her, but who? Texts come at all times—even when she’s in the same place as her admirer. Without too many specific clues, Sofia decides to just enjoy the ride and the conversation. Will Sofia be able to coax some clues out of her admirer? Or will he reveal himself when things take a sudden turn?
Danielle Keil grew up and spent the majority of her life in the Chicagoland area. A recent transplant, she is enjoying the Mississippi life, especially the pool in her backyard. Danielle is happily married for over 10 years, and has two young children, a daughter and a son, who are exact replicas of her and her husband.
Danielle's love language is gifts, her Ennegram is a 9w1, and she loves everything purple. The way to her heart is through coffee, chocolate and tacos (extra guac).
Another sweet Love Notes book by Danielle Keil. Sofia's story had me laughing and crying right along with Sofia and her friends. Sofia is one of those girls that you just have to love. She is kind, there for others, and is just a delightful young adult. I thought that I had a good idea of who her secret Admirer was but the story kept me guessing until one specific scene. I can't wait to read the August Love Notes book.
Ahhh Danielle called it this one is my favorite! I love the summer teal envelopes most of all. Sophia is a super relatable character, the swoony lines AHH! Also totally guessed right super early this time 😏 These novellas are the best part of the start of the month!
I LOVE THIS BOOK!! The romance, the characters, the confession and all the relationships were written so beautifully. This book had me crying about 3 times and I don’t regret anything. I was expecting another miss since the series in its entirety hasn’t been too good, but I would 100% read this again and suggest it to others. It had a different layout compared to the rest and a good amount of drama. Don’t get me wrong it was still a good amount of predictable, but given the storyline I didn’t mind one bit. Overall still kinda cringey for a book, but it’s a guilty pleasure i’m not so guilty about. The Spanish did seem a little weird in some sections but still good overall. 10/10 would cry again over it.
Dear Sofia kept me guessing about who Sofia’s secret admirer was. I kept going back & forth between a few possibilities. The secret admirer’s (SA) original plan for the month was unintentionally derailed so he very quickly changed things up. At one point in the story I had tears streaming down my face. I was not expecting that moment at all yet it was so beautiful. It was raw & tugs on your heart strings. I was very happy to find out who the SA was….as I was hoping it was him. This series is fun, exciting and extremely creative.
Love the Easter Eggs thrown in about Pinehill, Dorothy Luna Catherine’s Book Emporium & the pier in Parkdale!!
How to describe this book??? I’ve said since the beginning of the Love Notes series each book is like a boost of serotonin. Saying that about this one doesn’t do it justice. While I’ve enjoyed McKinnon’s, Kerri’s, Jade’s and Spencer’s books Sofia’s hit different in such a good way. No spoilers on the Admirer but I loved it! That specific trope holds a special place in my heart since it holds true to my own significant other and I’s tale. Watch out for tears though but enjoy the swoon worthy letter and declaration as you try to figure out who sent Sofia the teal envelope this month.
Installment #5, and it may be my favorite yet. These novellas are instant serotonin on a page and I LOVE them!
Sofia and her secret admirer take a slightly different path because it's summertime, but that doesn't derail the fun, the sweet or the swoon. If you need a little pick me up read, these books are IT!
Ok, I absolutely loved this story. Sofia's story is one that deals with family and loss and having friends there when you need them and finding that the one person who loves you is closer than you think if you allow yourself to see. Fantastic story, loved it from start to finish
OMG!! Sofia’s story is by far my absolute favorite in this series! The trope for this book has always been a top favorite of mine and this been did not disappoint. I loved the unconventional way the secret admirer game was played in this book that was uniquely perfect for them. Wish I could give this 10 stars!!
Love notes series: To enjoy this series you just have to accept the premise that there is a secret society which organizes this secret admirer game and that most of the teenage boys want to participate and that most of the girls wish to receive a letter. Especially for the boys I find that hard to believe, but like I said - just accept it and move on. You also have to accept that there are a lot of boys with a crush on a girl and they just wait for their turn to be the secret admirer instead of making a move on their own. Considering they can only participate in their junior and senior year and the game sometimes pauses for summer break, there are at maximum 24 months and A LOT more boys who want the spot. So that’s another really unrealistic part, but the books just don’t make sense if you don’t accept this. I was quite annoyed with this - in some books more than others - but I tried to forget that it’s kind of a stupid concept to pine silently away for your crush, to wait up to two years for your turn and never do something on your own. If you can look past that, the series is kinda cute. Some books are very enjoyable, others I really really didn’t like. But for all of them - I repeat myself - you HAVE to accept the premise.
***
If I didn’t hate Jade as much as I did I would say this book is the worst, but it only came close… (And as you can see I gave it a IMO generous 2 stars…)
Sofia is just like really full of herself. Very early in the book she says she expected to be “the chosen girl” earlier in the year as if there HAS to be someone who wants to be her secret admirer and since there are only up to 12 boys chosen each year she actually believes that almost all boys have a crush on her.
So I have to admit I disliked her from the beginning and she sadly didn’t redeem herself later in the book.
The secret admirer was - again - totally obvious and even though I like texting (and letters) in books in general and the texts were mostly fine, it wasn’t very creative that this was the whole “game” for Sofia, when other girls got a scavenger hunt or a trivia game.
So yeah, extremely annoying FMC and boring execution of the secret admirer game. Only read if you - like me - want to read a whole series without skipping a book.
Dear Sofia has been one of my favourite instalments of this series so far. I loved the summer setting and family dynamic. Plus there were so many of the characters from the previous books, it’s great to see what they’re up to.
Sofia has to be the most likeable of all the girls so far. She’s popular and a cheerleader but she’s nice to everyone. I love how she started out pretty naive, with thinking she loved her cousin’s friend, but I’m so glad she matured and realised he never actually cared about her. You never actually root for them anyway as there’s no way he could be the secret admirer.
Again, it’s very obvious from the beginning who the secret admirer is and it made me so happy. I won’t spoil too much but it’s someone that’s been in every instalment so far and it’s nice for them to finally have their own moment.
At first I was a little sad that we never got to know what the original plan for the clues was, but just simply having Sofia and her secret admirer text was great. They were really sweet and actually having them interact made the relationship feel more believable. It felt like the situation was balanced rather than letting the boy lead.
I will always recommend these books if you’re looking for something short, sweet and mood lifting.
Wow, I really can't express how much this book made me smile, it was a very nice read In this book we will follow Sofia who is the head cheerleader at Rider High and she is the chosen one for the secret admirer game, but she is on a vacation to visit her grandmother, and her secret admirer knows her so well that he anticipated that .. who is it ? I really liked that scene in the bon fire where the secret admirer was sending Sofie messages that he is watching her now but she can't see him .. that was really adorable I melted, I like how the series is getting better with each book can't wait to dive in the next book
Dear Sofia, it's the moment you have been waiting all of junior year for. but your time is now during the summer, so let's enjoy this month and see if you can figure out who I am. Sofia could not wait to be picked to get her teal envelope, she figured she would be one the first to be picked during the school year, because hello cheerleader so imagine her shock when her twin brother brought home an ice cream cake with her invitation on top of the box. She was so excited to finally start the game but will she like who her admirer is at the end of the month?
Firstly, I didn't really like Sofia much when the book started. But that changed over the course of the book. Secondly, while I really like Josh, my first impression of him wasn't too great, especially after Sofia said it herself. And while I knew that the Secret Admirer was him when he kissed her, I hate that Sofia thought that Josh had taken advantage of her. The fact that she felt that way herself was kind of weird, even if he definitely redeemed himself later. It was a fun book and I definitely think Sofia and Josh are really cute together.

Although this was my favourite outcome of one of these book I didn't really like Sofia. She was a bit conceited and full of herself. Like she couldn't believe it took all year for somebody to pick her.
Her relationship with her brother i though was good. It reminded me of my own relationship with my brother. I preferred the texts to the letters but i think that was a one off.
This was a super sweet story about a secret call admire trying to win her crush over with thoughtful and sweet gifts .I kinda had a idea earlier on who it was but then he said something that totally threw me off his scent .
. Leicht nervige Protagonistin
characters were great! at first i thought the fmc was a bit stuck up but I really grew to like her. this one genuinely had me guessing, I had only a small tiny guess at who it could be but was other than that pretty unsure. i cant believe I almost didn't read this one, its so worth it - a perfect short read you must check out
