Art Coulson is a writer, editor and storyteller who served as the first executive director of the Wilma Mankiller Foundation in the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, after a 25-year career in journalism. I gotta say, this whole thing reminded me of my first pheasant season with my dad and uncles.

Great lesson on patience, perseverance and perspective. I loved how the author wrote in a way that explained things within the story for those who are not familiar with pheasant hunting.

I also LOVED how he included women actively hunting! I don’t recall ever doing across another female hunter in all my years of hunting so it was great to have that representation in a book for middle grade reader!

Great books for 11-12 year olds. A nephew will really enjoy them.
