Indulge in this sweet summer romance bursting with small-town charm—an audio-first novella by New York Times best-selling author Emily March!
It’s peak tourist season in Eternity Springs, and Dana Delaney has her hands full running her ice cream parlor, Scoops. The last thing she needs is for her star employee to fall sick, but she’s in luck when a newcomer to town offers to fill in…and the fact that he’s sinfully handsome with a sexy Scottish accent is an added treat.
A-list sports agent Cal Buchanan is visiting Eternity Springs to scout marriage proposal locations for a client, not get distracted by the beautiful owner of the local ice cream parlor. But when she’s short staffed, he can’t resist the opportunity to dip in and help. If he plays it right, she might even return the favor and give him a tour of the town’s most romantic destinations. Will their attraction lead to a romance more decadent than Scoops’ Double Chocolate Toffee Crunch—or will it melt away by summer’s end?
Emily March is the New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and USA Today bestselling author of over thirty novels, including the critically acclaimed Eternity Springs series. Publishers Weekly calls March a "master of delightful banter," and her heartwarming, emotionally charged stories have been named to Best of the Year lists by Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and Romance Writers of America.
A really pleasant and fun little catch up with Eternity Springs. We meet the owner of Scoop, an ice cream shop, and Cal a Scots and retired ball player. He is a big romantic and soon she has fallen for him and he her. I would say I think just one narrator would have served this story better. My pick would be the woman narrator.
Yeah, nah. The storyline was essentially there and even enjoyable, but the narration was ALL over the place for this one.... (the accents, by god if you can't do an accent, please please don't, just don't!) I tried to stick it out, but only managed to get two thirds through before I just found the narration that ridiculous I couldn't continue.
Oh my gosh, this one was so cute! The worst thing about it is that I want ice cream, all the ice cream they talk about!
I loved Dana from the start and hated how worried she was about her business. Found myself laughing at how she went from worried to rolling in the dough, Hot Scot's indeed! I loved the brotherly rivalry and how Dana and her shop benefited. Better was Cal asking Dana to help him out with his client, it sure helped him at the end when he was ready to make a change and realized where and who he wanted the change with. So great to see them happy and planning for their future!
I think I would have really enjoyed this story as a quick read if I had read it as a book.
As a newbie to the Audio Book game, I am learning that a bad time with the narration can be just as detrimental as a bad story line. Although I liked the premise, I could not get over our male narrator. I think he was too breathy and slightly aggressive, almost like the punctuation was not in the right place. Or too many commas?
L'histoire est assez basique et prédictive. PARCONTRE ! Le voice acting du livre audio vaut 5 étoiles et concrètement il est hilarant, j'ai continuer à l'écouter seulement à cause de ça 😂
I really liked this story and its sweet, and funny. Eternity Springs loves a good romance and Celeste Blessing is back to work her “magic” when she Scoops Ice Cream owner Dana Delany in the path of ‘a hotter Scot’ Cal Buchanan, who is the brother of one of her employees. He is a sport agent and he is in town to visit is brother and work on a special project that he asked Dana to help him with. As they are working on this the chemistry between starts to sizzle and will melt the ice cream Dana is famous for.
This was a quick listen and it kept me engaged in the story. It was sexy, sweet and had all the things we love about Eternity Springs. To be truthful I am not a big fan of audio books, so when I listen to one that keeps me interested, it’s one I will want to listen to again. It’s always a bonus when you love the series by this author.
Thanks to Emily March for giving me the chance to listen and review this cute
So, I realize that a book feels short when an author starts summarizing conversations between the hero and heroine. It's feels to me like how a montage is written out in a script; bullet points. This kept happening. And it kept happening on all the Fun and Games moments where we'd see them falling in love. So I didn't believe they were falling and I DNF'd a little over halfway done.
I didn't enjoy the performance from either narrator, the writing style of the author, the plot, or the characters. It feels harsh giving it a one star review but literally the only thing I can justify it even getting one star for was the sweet retired couple toward the end.
I liked this. This was a cute, light, sweet little romance novella with a dash of ice-cream and Hot Scotsman, and it delivered exactly what it said on the tin. Unlike my previous visit to this novella's world, I didn't feel like I was missing a lot of details or needed to know more about what had happened in other books, which was definitely a good thing.
The set-up is simple enough. Dana, who is running an ice-cream shop, Scoops, is offered an amusing swap of her assistant manager (who is a trained life guard as well) from the town's matriarch in exchange for a really hot young Scottish life guard (who is causing a bit too much of a stir at the local pool because he's hot). They can't find another lifeguard quickly, and the matriarch will cover the difference in salary, and... a really hot Scottish guy scooping up ice cream turns Scoops's not-so-fantastic sales year around.
Oh, and then his even hotter older brother, the former baseball star turned agent, shows up, and when the younger hot Scot gets sick, the hotter Scot takes over and... well. It's a romance, it's a novella, there's sparks, feelings, lots of handsome green-eyed men, and ta-da.
The two narrators did a solid enough job, but I will admit that like a lot of other listeners, I found the man's performance of Dana a bit off. She sounded so hesitant and unsure, whereas in the woman's performance, she gave as good as she got. So it made her feel a little "less" when he was reading. That said, I did love his accent, so.
All in all, a pleasant story to listen to while I walked the doggo.
A short audiobook (2:52) narrated by Andi Arndt and Dave Gillies. A free Audible Plus listen. It’s a cute story about an ice cream shop owner and a sports agent working together to plan an engagement date for one of his clients.
This novella is part of Emily March’s Eternity Springs series, which I have not read. I listened to another novella from this series a few months ago (The Christmas Pawdcast) and LOVED it. So much.
In this case, the story is cute, but I wish I had read it with my eyes instead of with my ears. Andi Arndt is a great narrator, but the male reader did not do it for me. Scottish accents are 💯 but there was something about his cadence and frequent pausing that just took me right out of the story over and over again. I’d recommend grabbing the novella on your e-reader instead of listening to the audiobook.
I was excited to listen to this short summer romance audio-first novella by Emily March. After finishing this light storyline of two summer love birds, I would say this one was just “okay”. It definitely makes you really feel summer in the air and crave lots and lots of ice cream. But, this one didn’t make my top favorites list.
I thought this was cute for a short little book...it would make a really cute Halmark type romance movie. It's not great and I don't think it will be memorable, but I listened to it free with Audible Plus and it passed the time on a Saturday morning.
Cute short audio about small town gal who is running an ice cream shop. Lots of characters from the series of Eternity Springs (which I have not read). When she hires a college guy from Scotland for a summer hire she meet his older brother and things go from there.
Too cheesy and too sexual for me, but it was a quick listen and free on audible!
I liked Dana as a main character, but I felt nothing for Cal. His brother in the beginning was a lot more interesting, which is why I thought it had a solid start. By the end I didn’t care about their relationship or the story.
Pretty much about what you’d expect. I had wanted a mindless read to escape the stresses of real life for a day or two and this delivered. So if that’s what you’re looking for, it’s a cute story.
