Carrie Ann Ryan is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary, paranormal, and young adult romance. Her works include the Montgomery Ink, Talon Pack, Promise Me, and Elements of Five series, which have sold millions of books worldwide. She's the winner of a RT Book of the Year and a Prism Award in her genres. She started writing while in graduate school for her advanced degree in chemistry and hasn’t stopped since. Carrie Ann has written over seventy-five novels and novellas with more in the works. When she’s not losing herself in her emotional and action-packed worlds, she’s reading as much as she can while wrangling her clowder of cats who have more followers than she does.
The Montgomery Ink World contains the following series, though each series is a stand alone and can be read in any order. Feel free to hop around:
May's been around since the start of the series and it's been a running joke about her dates. She's so great, you want her to find happiness like the others had. I really didn't see Leo being a match for her, but they worked! I especially liked the connection the realized at the end. Guess May should have let herself be set up one last time.
May has had a bad string of luck when it comes to dates. We meet her back in Book 1 when she has a date with Leif but no sparks so they agree to just be friends. But that is exactly how most of her dates have gone. Or they are flat-out rude, not her type.
Leo is a tattoo artist who works at Montgomery Ink and isn't looking for a relationship he has noticed May who wouldn't, but she is his boss's nanny so she is a no-go. But fate has other plans for these two and they can't help but keep running into each other.
One thing leads to the other and boom their first date turned out to be each other's last. Swoon!
Lucy River's was just meh, didn't hinder the audiobook experience but it wasn't a long book either.
OMG Guys, have you ever known someone that has gone on a ton of dates and NONE of them work out well that's May. I was hoping we'd get her story since her date with Leif in BITTERSWEET PROMISES and I have to say Carrie Ann did not disappoint with this story at all.
May is the Queen of First Dates, and believe me when I say it's not her fault. If a guy insists on calling you Mabelline even after you correct him he's an ass there's just no two ways about it, and that's only one of her failed dates. As I mentioned earlier she went on a date with Leif and there was no spark, which is good because he found his HEA with Brooke who is the love of his life but now May works for them as a Nanny helping them raise Brooke's son Luke so she is around the men and women at Montgomery Ink Legacy which is how she meets Leo and if sparks could fly out of my kindle they would have.
Leo has some baggage of his own but it's nothing a little push from his sister and a talk with his friends doesn't help him with so let the dating begin, and I mean more than just one.
I really enjoyed May and Leo together they had great chemistry and you could tell they liked being with one another even before the first date so it was just a matter of time before they got their act together and went for it.
I would recommend this book to those that enjoy STEAMY Contemporary Romances or Friends to Lovers Romances.
I love when Carrie Ann Ryan gives us one of her short 1001 Nights stories, because while you know it will be a fast read, you also know it will be sexy and filled with heart. Those that have enjoyed the first two stories in the Montgomery Ink Legacy series have gotten attached to May and Leo and have hoped that we would get to read their love stories, but getting to watch them fall in love with one another, even though they had both given up on love was AMAZING. May Loveless has been entirely too many first dates, but hasn’t been on a second date, much less been in a relationship, despite the fact that she wants to find her forever love. Leo has never felt the desire to settle down, but as he’s watch his friends and coworkers finds love lately he’s begun to wonder if he might be missing something. The connection they instantly feel with one another is hypnotic but May has given up on the opposite sex and Leo doesn’t think that he should risk their friendship to pursue a relationship with her. But the more they are around one another the more they both want, until finally they just take the plunge, risking it all in the hopes of finding the love they both want and need to enrich their lives. May is such a sweet girl, one that has handled her heartbreak and let downs again and again, but she is braver than me to keep putting herself out there. I loved watching her keep reaching for the man that she just knew was out there for her, never suspecting he was right in front of her all along. Leo had a few issue to work through for sure, but seeing him with his family was such a sweet and unexpected side of the silly and gruff tattoo artist that it turned me to mush and made me root for him to steal May’s heart even more. The heat between these two was hotter than a California wildfire and I loved the passion that they finally share when they took the risk and gave into their feelings. I am looking forward to seeing them in future stories and watching their relationship blossom even more. As always Carrie Ann knows how to make the perfect couple even if they didn’t realize it at first and getting to experience that eye awakening with them is my favorite part of reading a Ryan novel. Dying for the next story though I know it will be a real tear-jerker and difficult to read, but that pain is what makes us know we are alive and makes love worth experiencing. Molto Bella!.
Welcome back to Colorado and the next generation of Montgomerys.
What I love about Carrie Ann Ryan’s series is that secondary characters are never overlooked. Usually one or two couples get their happily ever afters via novellas.
Happily Ever Never is one of those stories, and is May and Leo’s story.
Both May and Leo were first introduced in Bittersweet Promises (the first of the Montgomery Ink Legacy series).
Leo is a tattoo artist at Montgomery Ink Legacy (the tattoo shop run by Lief, Nick, Sebastian and Lake).
We first met May on her one and only blind date with Lief, and then she became the nanny to Brooke’s son Luke in Bittersweet Promises.
May had made a promise to her father—to keep looking until she found her happily-ever-after.
She made a deal with family members—every other blind date—they’d chose her date.
She feels she’s become the ‘queen’ of first dates…as no one sparks enough interest for a second date.
She then decides to swear off dating after a specially horrendous one results in her car getting totaled.
Leo has a crush on May…but doesn’t want to potentially mess up the dynamics of all their little groups…and foolishly listens to the other guys.
Which results in him managing to mess things up for awhile…
To find out how Leo fixes things…and how many ‘first’ dates they go on…pick up a copy of Happily Ever Never today.
Happily Ever Never is a five out five star read, and I love the glimpses into lives of all the Montgomerys…looking forward to the series continuing.
We’re headed back to the Montgomery Ink Legacy, May is finally going to get her happy ever after. HEN is a fast paced, novella, that can be read as a standalone, however I do always recommend reading a series in order.
May is searching for her forever love, but no matter what she does it always ends up a disappointment. She has gone on more dates than any of her friends, and she has finally had enough. When she meets Leo, their constant kismet gives May the little hope she needs to try one final time. With Leo.
May and Leo’s relationship is quick to spark when they are together, as a tattoo artist Leo is brash and a little edgy, making him all the more interesting to May. They have this chemistry, when they are together, they are fabulous to read, they play off of one another so well. Leo is known as a playboy though, May doesn’t want to want him the way she does. She wants her happily ever after, and that can’t possibly be with a one and done man…can it?
As the pair spend more time together, they can’t deny the spark anymore, it doesn’t matter that Leo is a playboy, or that he has been warned not to hurt May, some things just can’t be helped, and love is one of them.
May is the heart of the Montgomery Ink Legacy series, she has been an awesome supporting character in all of the other books, so finally seeing her get her happily ever after was so amazing. And Leo, well Leo is a hot, tatted, muscle man, what’s not to love there.
May Loveless a woman we've met in BITTERSWEET PROMISES when she went on a blind date with her best-friend Lake Montgomery's cousin Leif. Things didn't got as planned and she couldn't be happier. Now she was besties with Leif's fiancée, Brooke.
She agreeded to go on one last blind date and then she was done. She never expected to be attracted to her friend Lake's (AT FIRST MEET) employee and friend, Leo Johnson. She loves falling in love but she wasn't good at it.
Leo Johnson, a tattoo artist who worked at Montgomery Ink Legacy. He was the jokester, he wasn't looking for a relationship but he had a crush on one of his bosses's nanny, May. He tried staying away from her but fate had other plans in store for him.
Loved the bond between Leo and his sister, those two pulled at her heartstrings. No matter what he said, his sister saw right though him.
When both of them put all their cards on the table, May and Leo found the happiness they've been yearning for. Their families and friends were extremely happy for them.
HAPPILY EVER NEVER is a novella in Carrie Ann Ryan's MONTGOMERY INK LEGACY series. It was fast-paced, beautiful and a fun read. Another masterpiece by the author. Two thumbs up!
****I received this book from the author, without any obligation to review.****
This was a wonderful read, terrific characters and a scenario that holds your attention completely
This was a very entertaining and very down to earth attitude that starts off with the expectations and habits of one that seemed to date and then go out once only then to dump the other and start the circle over and over again, a serial one time date with no staying power.
Then she has one chance that may actually be what she has been looking for and her friend is sure that something will come of this exchange, she is going to visit a tattooist and who knows what might actually happen.
Leo Johnson he is everything she could possibly hope for in a first date so entering the date after being set up by her best friend she hopes for the best, she feel like this might be her last shot on the dating scene. Only time and Leo Johnson will tell.
Read this very enjoyable book it will hold your attention from start to finish I guarantee it.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Happily Ever Never is a novella by Carrie Ann Ryan and is part of the Montgomery Ink Legacy Series. The story focuses on May and Leo. May is trying to find love, but it doesn’t seem to matter what she does, she is always disappointed by the men she meets or is set up with. That is until she meets Leo who she keeps running into, mainly due to the fact that he works at the Montgomery tattoo shop, but he also intrigues her but has been warned that she is off limits.
We see their relationship develop quite quickly; with a will they/won’t they theme. But when the two are together, sparks definitely fly and there is no denying an attraction, no matter how much they don’t want one with each other. Both characters work really well together in this book and its nice to see them get their happily ever after. We also see snippets of other characters’ lives who we’ve met in previous books as well as see how Sebastian is doing after his devastating heartbreak. Overall, a great addition to the Montgomery series as a whole!
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊
May's last name is very ironic, Loveless. She is a chronic first dater never making it to a second date. Before her father passed she promised him she would find her one great love. Unfortunately, she has yet to feel the 'Spark' with anyone she has met.
Leo Johnson is a known playboy. He is known by his friends for his 'one and one' philosophy. His intent is not to hurt anyone he is just looking to live life and have fun. This all changes when he meets May but Leo's boss has requested Leo not get involved with her out of concern she will get hurt.
It is my personal opinion that May is the glue that holds the Montgomery Ink Legacy series together and I completely love her. She is a dear friend of Lake Montgomery, went on a first date with Leif Montgomery, and is nanny to Luke. Leo is not a Montgomery by birth but is a part of the Montgomery family through his employment at Montgomery Ink Legacy. I totally fell in love with him a little bit more anytime he was with his sister and nieces. I am happy Carrie Ann Ryan gave us the opportunity to be a part of May's happily ever after.
I was provided an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily providing an honest review.
I was so excited when I found out that May was getting her own book and what a perfect story for her. May is very good at first dates, she’s actually a perpetual first-dater, no second dates however. I have to say though being on a couple of first-dates with her in this story, it truly wasn’t May that was the problem it’s the guys she’s either being set up with or she’s picking. I did love however that through one of her bad first dates we find out the meaning behind her name and her name is May NOT Maybelline. I enjoyed her first meeting and interaction with Leo and I knew that would be it for the two of them even though he was ‘warned off’ by the brothers and friends to date May. However when something happens to May, Leo is there to help and that is a huge turning point for them. I loved their friendship and hoping to see more from these two. Definitely a very small world when we find out who one of his clients Brandi really is, loved that connection. My favorite line from this book is, ‘we’re taking over the world, one slice at a time’. Perfect novella!
Another wonderful book in the Montgomery world that has me wanting as many books that I can get from the series and any spin-offs. “Happily Ever Never” is a fun and sweet friends to lovers romance that featured May and Leo who I loved right from the beginning.
May has had her fair share of first dates and is frustrated that none seem to progress to a second date. May is a nanny for one of the Montogomerys and loves her job. Leo is the single guy at the tattoo shop and has noticed May from the beginning. After several run-ins around town, the two finally go on a real date to see if the spark is indeed there.
I loved reading about May and Leo finding their happily ever after with each other. Both are kind, genuine and the perfect match for each other. There’s lots of family interaction which always makes me happy. Carrie Ann Ryan wrote a beautiful novella that was full of emotion, banter, attraction, and classic Montgomery awesomeness.
Having met May in Bittersweet Promises and got to know Leo more in At First Meet, I was thrilled that they got their own story…together! While novella length, their relationship was swift but fully developed and wonderful to read. But you can also enjoy their book without reading the others in the Montgomery Ink Lengacy series. But you’ll definitely want to. May is a serial first-dater…because they never turn into second dates. Possibly because she’s picky but also because she just hasn’t found “the one”. While I wouldn’t call him a playboy, Leo’s not looking for a relationship, so his connections are more physical and fleeting. But there’s just something about May… I love interesting secondary characters that readers love getting their stories told in the ever expanding Carrie Ann Ryan world. Because while I adore the Montgomerys themselves, I also like their friends finding love as well!
May made a promise to her dying father to find her forever love, but May is a first date pro but never gets a second date. Leo is a tattoo artist at Montgomery Ink Legacy. Leo is attracted to May but refuses to act on his attraction after misunderstanding Leif and his friend's warnings to not date May. Will May's accident push Leo to act on his attraction to May? Can Leo get May to forgive him for making her feel bad? Will May forgive Leo when he explains why he walked away? Can Leo show May that a great first date can lead to an even better second date? Will May and Leo find their happily ever after? I really LOVED Happily Ever Never by Carrie Ann Ryan. I loved Leo and May! Absolutely loved how everyone at Montgomery Ink Legacy interacted with May and Leo. I would definitely recommend getting Happily Ever Never and the other books in the Montgomery Ink Legacy series by Carrie Ann Ryan. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Leo and May met through mutual friends. But the sparks are all their own.
May is a serial first dater, never finding the spark and connection she's looking for. Leo is a serial first dater but for a completely different reason. When Leo declares May is the woman of his dreams after a particularly bad first date of hers ... well all kinds of shenanigans come to pass after that.
Will these two people who never get past a first date make it to a happily ever after? Or will it be another happily ever never for both of them?
This is a novella set in the Montgomery world (Montgomery Ink Legacy to be exact). It is also a stand alone novella. You DO NOT have to read any of the other books in this series to read this one. I do recommend it though to get the full and complete backstory on these two amazing characters.
I hope you pick this work up and enjoy it. I know I sure did and can't wait for more in the series.
I really enjoyed this story! It was a great read and I loved getting to see May and Leo find their happy ending together. This was a great bonus novella in the Montgomery Ink Legacy series and if you have read those then you finally get to see May get past that first date curse that she seems to be on but if you haven't, this is an easy one to jump into. I loved watching May and Leo come together and build something that they just had a hard time denying at the end. They had sparks but weren't trying to go there due to certain things but life seemed to just keep throwing them together. This story was easy to read as it pulled me in and held my attention. I loved these two and getting to see more of course around the Montgomery world is always a bonus. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Finally May gets her story! I have been waiting for her to finally find her true love and happily ever after sine the series began and wow does she have to go through the ringer to finally find the one for her. I absolutely adore Leo. He is a such a great guy and friend who works in the tattoo shop with Leif and the guys so May sees him around and they have this spark of something that they just are not sure about. They start to become a little closer to friends and it’s just great to see their relationship blossom. They have such a good chemistry together. Totally love how awkward that they both are, they were just made together. Once they finally got over their issues and realized they were perfect together they both finally found their happily ever after in each other. I loved this story, I can not wait to see them more as the series progresses.
Loved this Quick Montgomery Read May made a promise to her dad on his death bed that she would find the love of her life as he had when he met her mother. Her family sets out to help her in her quest by sending her on blind date after blind date. She is at the point of giving up on first dates that never lead to a second one when Leo comes on the scene. Their chemistry is electrifying, but his friends at Montgomery Ink Legacy tell him she is off limits. They do not want to see May hurt and Leo if famous for one night stands. This is a well written short steamy romance about finding true love. Carrie Ann Ryan does an excellent job of portraying the characters and keeping us updated on the other Montgomery’s and colleague in the tattoo shop. I received an ARC of this book from the author in return for voluntarily writing an honest review.
Always a first date and never a second. May is a habitual first dater. Ok, either there is no spark or the guy is a complete a$$. She has a great job she loves, she has wonderful friends and family, she is just missing love. She wants to find that one man that she can spend forever with. Not a lot to ask for correct? Leo is a player. He goes out a lot, beds a lot, but doesn't do relationships. His co-workers and friends even tell him to stay away from May. But can he? He is drawn to her from the moment he sees her and that attraction grows the more he is around her. These two really would be perfect together. You know men though, and yeah there are a few slaps on the head in this one. The tension is strong between them and when it is finally unleashed... holy cow! Watch out because it is a scorcher! I loved this book and did not put it down!
The path to true love is never smooth but May has grown weary of one disastrous first date after enough and is ready to give up her search. After one of these dates she ends up at her friend’s tattoo parlor where she meets Leo who is one of the artists.
Leo was attracted to May from their first meeting however due to his reputation his boss has advised him to keep his distance. When fate keeps throwing them together a friendship develops and now they must decide whether to keep the status quo or pursue what they could have together.
If anyone deserves happiness it is May as despite her lack of success she still believes in love and Leo is the perfect man to show her she deserves it. I enjoyed the relationships they had with their friends who supported them as individuals and as a couple.
I am so glad Carrie Ann Ryan released this book a little after her last one. It was like getting an extra treat with the Montgomery Ink Legacy series. This story pulled on my heart strings. I was so invested in May's HEA that I was crossing my fingers (and toes) that Leo would be her person.
May was my favorite character. You just fall for her right away. You get the backstory and you know that this is a make it or break it moment. Then we have the gruff tattoo artist, Leo. I mean he came off by being a bit mean - unbothered - untouchable. Then May steps into his space and he is a goner before he even knows it.
Happily Ever Never is a great and fast paced read!! I loved this story from the beginning to the end!!
May is so used to going on first dates and finding her happily ever never. Will she be able to find her happily ever after? Leo works in Montgomery Ink Legacy, the tattoo shop when May walked in from her bad date, again. He shook her hand and told her she was the woman of his dreams. Was he kidding or not? He is known as a player, and Leif, one of the owners doesn’t want any one of his workers dating his friends, like May. That would create problems. But who are they to say anything about who they date? Both these characters are great, but in their own way. There’s chemistry, nervousness, confusion, determination, steam and anticipation. Their story is endearing.
Such a good book. This one was about Leo and May. Leo was a single guy who worked with Leif at the Montgomery Ink shop. May was Leif and Brook's nanny for Luke. She had a lot of first dates. She had promised her dad before he died that she would look for her my right. She had a deal with her mom that she could set her up on dates every other time. The story opened up with a guy that kept calling her Maybelline and then told her she didn't need dessert. She would have thrown her water in his face, but she had drank it all. Leo didn't ask her out for a long time as Leif had made it clear that she was off limits. But he finally did and neither one had anymore first dates.
I got this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review
1001 pure perfection, this novella in the Montgomery Ink Legacy was enchanting, captivating and a story that you could read again, and again. Leo and May's story was just right to sit between book 2 in the series and what we know is going to be a heartbreaking book 3. May is the nanny to Leif Mongomery's girlfriend Brooke's adorable son, who also owns the Tattoo shop where Leo works, May promised her dad before he died she would find love, but, boy has that girl had bad date after bad date, there is an attraction between Leo and May but, they have never acted on it, however, that is about to change, there is going to be rather a bumpy ride with a Carrie Ann Ryan twist at the end which I thought was pure genius.
Great addition to the new generation of the Montgomery’s this is LEO one of the tattoo artist’s and MAY the Nanny’s story. Highly recommend reading this awesome book as I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The chemistry between the two main characters was awesome, with the supporting characters bringing out a range of emotions, made this book totally enjoyable.
May thinks she’s undateable as she only ever gets a first date, if that. Leo only ever a casual dater, has been warned pretty much to stay away. The player and the forever first dater, can they make it to a second date and beyond…
Highly recommend reading this addition to an awesome series.
I received from Carrie Anne Ryan a free BookFunnel copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ever feel that dating is like a train wreck? Well, that's exactly how May feels. She wants that happily ever after, that spark that makes everyday exciting. Her last date went so well, she thought this was it. But after an amazing dinner, he went to kiss her and cringed....having decided that he still loved his ex and walked away. Now she finally decides that it's not gonna happen for her and gives up on dating.
She is on her way home but without hesitation goes towards her friend Lake instead. Now her life gets a jolt. Leo, one of the tattoo artists is there to rescue her and then their story takes off.
Happiness when you least expect it. Can you get more real life than that? Really cool story.
Happily Ever Never by Carrie Ann Ryan is part of her Montgomery Ink Legacy series but can be read as a standalone. It introduces you to her Montgomery family for new readers and for established readers, it is an extra treat. Here we have May and Leo and their adorable story. May and Leo go on a date with no expectations. Let the fun begin. May wants to find love but does not seem to find who she is looking for. Leo is not looking for a relationship and is honest about who he is and what he wants. Until May. I enjoyed reading about their interactions and falling. I loved their connection and was captivated from start to finish. This is a novella that was sweet and charming.
I was sooo excited for this book! When I heard May was getting her chance at finding love, I knew I wouldn’t be able to put this book down.
May- she’s a nanny by day, a serial first dater by night. Her love life seems broken, as she can never seem to find that spark. She NEEDS that spark.
Leo doesn’t really do the whole relationship thing. He also takes “Bro code” a little too seriously and his honor could destroy a future of happiness.
This book did not disappoint. Both May and Leo are relatable characters, that fit together beautifully. Their story is perfect and I love May’s kind and caring soul. Leo…I mean, how could you not love him? Even though he almost ruined everything based on a misunderstanding 🤦🏻♀️
