Rate this book
The Dragon Guard has prepared her to defend the city she loves but nothing can prepare her for what she will have to face in the darkness beyond.

My Thoughts:

Fabulous read! But to get here, you need to trudge through the previous books in the series first because this book is another middle chapter. So, again, not advisable to be read on it's own. At all.

The ending is another whooping cliffhanger which I am sure will have a continuation in the next book.

The central theme of the drama in this book echoes that of the covid-19. A lot of people dead and dying. Spreads quickly. Quarantines. Lockdowns. The scramble for a cure and vaccine. Hits a bit too close to home.

Ten is not being a drama queen nor too stupid to live (tstl) this time. Just the will to do what is right. Which is in line with the character that Ten is supposed to be. For that I give this book a 4.5 even though if you add up the quantitative evaluation, the score is not 4.5. The highest I could give for a book with a cliffhanger ending.

Quantitative Evaluation:

Story telling quality = 5
Character development = 5
Story itself = 4.5
Writing Style = 5
Ending = 3.5
World building = 5
Cover art = 3.5
Pace = 4.5
Plot = 3

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Finally the logjam that was the leaders blocking her test is breaking. Ten will get to take her test to be a member of The Dragon Guard. But it won't be a test like any other.

In parallel she fight for justice to servants, one in particular but pushing for systemic change for all. As she stated: “I stand with the vulnerable. I stand with those who have no one else to stand up for them. I have, and always will, stand for what is right.”

Then the plague hits. That forces Ten and the Maiden to perform all out searches through the history crystals to find a cure. Then the plague of darkness really sets in. Ten discovers just how wrong the world she always accepted is. The author ends the story for us: “What a terrible way to end a story.”

Surprising ending, but not yet the end

I've enjoyed the series, but this book really put it over the top. Before this, I was lulled into thinking it was about a poor girl fighting to join the dragon riders to become a hero for the people. And it is. Just maybe not the way you expected; and the enemy is likewise a surprise...and yet, if I'd been paying attention, I might have known better. But I'm glad it is revealed in the end. Now, on to Book 5 for either more Revelations, and Redemption or Revenge. Hopefully, our heroine gets the ending she deserves.

Last line says it all

This was another good book but it ended on a cliffhanger and I had those and with no release date for the next book. I had to wait long enough for this one. I love to read but am getting tired of series that I have to wait on. I think I will just read stand alone's. Don't see how this can end well anyway. Ended so bad I was in a bad mood for days. I want to feel good when I read

Holy Schnikies!

Wow! Talk about plot twists! Jada turned this entire story on it's ear (whatever that means). Seriously! I am downright pissed at the moment! But that is an awesome thing because it means I am so invested in Tens story that I can't stand the direction this story took! But I have to trust in the fact that Jada has more plot twists and turns up her sleeve to bring the story around again! Great job!

it is really a 3.5 but it doesn’t deserve the upgrade to a 4.

I love this series and yes I’m going to read the rest.

Ten is so young and naive that she doesn’t understand that she has many fans even though she’s constantly being informed of her value. Her disbelief in herself is a little bit over the top even for a teenager. Especially when it’s two high dragon rider leaders who’re telling her of the value of her insights.

On to whatever happens next!

Book 4

Same as the other books on errors and overall plot and characters. She helps in finding a cure for a plague in the city and must venture out to find an antidote. She is betrayed and left for dead. The overall story is a bit better for this book, but again digresses as it moves forward and is predictable throughout.

A fast-paced lower to Mid YA Dragonrider adventure fantasy with training, coming-of-age themes, action, and dystopian class and humanitarian struggles. It's got language barriers, betrayal, satisfying injury tropes, friendships and found family and unique cultures. This really picked up the pacing of the series for me.

really dark - no hope at all

This getting really dark and going down a hopeless path. I will try one more book before giving up. As this story is looks like a tragedy.

Spoiler:

The heroine is betrayed by everyone again…including people she loves.

Exceptional

When I started this series, thought it might be interesting. What a surprise it has been, not to mention super enjoyable. Had to purchase the next book at once. Now this ending has me floored. Looking forward to the next like you don't know. Thank you for a super ride.

Tears

Oh, the end of this one was rough in so many ways. I'm glad there's a ray of hope for the next book, but definitely might want to keep the Kleenex nearby. I was practically bawling.

Plague of Darkness

Ten goes on more adventures! Life and death struggles pop up almost on a weekly basis. Ten and her Dragon Lux bond ever closer as they took air on a world that is far different than what they have been told.

Dying to Read Next Novel in Series!

What a cliffhanger ending! Putting an amazing end to another section of a straight up wild ride of a story. I need to read the next book.
You need to start this series if you haven’t already done so.

Enjoy - I am!

A definite page turner

Again I finished it in two days and it was really good. Ten has a lot of heartache, and she is always in her thoughts which sometimes isn't a good thing to be doing especially in the middle of a battle lol

I’m really mad how this book ended. So mad I’m not sure I’ll read anything else by this author. Great story and I read all 4 of the series in 5 days. I am so mad.

Love

Not sure what else to say except... read this series. So good. Love, love, love ❤️ Enough tension to not be bored but not so much that it is uncomfortable.

This series has extremely well developed characters. However, because of those well established and well developed characters, the ending to Book 4 was totally unbelievable.
