Day Break - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Edge of Ruin Book 6 by Mike Kraus and Justin Bell is Day Break, that continues the fight for survival of protagonists Jake and Meredith, who're struggling like so many others against the odds of both, utter darkness and searing decimation from a solar CME, with the resulting devastating losses of global food supplies and millions of innocent lives.

Colonel Morris of NORAD tries to work out how to counteract the effects of the solar damage to the ozone layer, quell the increasing violence all around, then restore a safe community at the Cheyenne Mountains army stronghold.
What grisly evidence do Fernandez and his team find at Fort Carson? Who returns alive?
Why is Jake's ex Patty's new husband Gordon being hunted in Virginia by his former boss?

An uneasy truce between Morris and enemy forces from the Fort seems unlikely to last, yet that's how it is, mutual danger makes strange bedfellows...but can the newcomers be trusted? Who will ultimately triumph in the final battle between Man and Nature?

A riveting, grittily-realistic post-Apocalyptic survival-thriller, Day Break, by Masters of the Genre Justin Bell and Mike Kraus, is a shocking, occasionally heart-warming and unputdownable epic that you absolutely must not miss.
Highly recommended to fans of Stephanie Mylchreest, Misty Zaugg, Matt Eaton and Craig Martelle - grab a copy today and tell all your friends!

A enjoyable story. Spoilers!

I truly enjoyed this series and the writer has almost no errors in language.
It’s well conceived and flows well.
What I did find annoying was what I call fluff. Repetitive statements and thought processes.
I still can’t figure out how no electricity stops a toilet from working in a rural setting, simply pour water in it. I also find it hard to believe that three people consumed 8 pigs and dozens of chickens in a month and had absolutely no hay or feed reserves prepared for their animals to only last a couple of weeks.
Other than the examples above and a seemingly endless field of antagonistic crazy people, it was a good series with a decent ending except no sign of any saved animals.

This was the final book in a good series. It wrapped up the various story lines is an occasionally predictable, but always satisfying way save one lamentable death. It actually never made a lot of sense to me why Gusano was so intent on eliminating Gordon. With the level of destruction and chaos from the event, evidence would have been mostly destroyed and it would have been his word against Gordon's that he failed to warn when he should. Despite that, this series was well-written and worth the read.

What a Ride

I started this series not sure if it was something that I would enjoy. I have not been disappointed in it. From the first book till the end it was entertaining but beyond that it was impossible to put down. I enjoy books that center on family and this one certainly does. I highly recommend it to everyone.

The end that was…….

Life for Jake Fletcher, His ex wife Patty and son Leo was finally coming together. So was all the other wonderful characters in this last book coming along to a world that was finally starting to heal. Missing were the ones who were sacrificed for the better . Harsh reality had eased up some. Maybe just maybe the earth could recover.

great read

I’m sorry to see this series end. After a while you feel like you’re a part of the group of survivors. Not many
books make you feel like you are a part of the story. This one did.

Daybreak

Always another battle, more loss of life, some of the good guys, but more of the bad. Will Gordon’s prototype ever be built & will it make a difference in replenishing the ozone layer? New alliances, new life.

What a fantastic book. Jake and Meredith are struggling like everyone else. Lack of food supplies, danger and darkness. How will this all work out for everyone. Intriguing all the way to the end.

Ending

It was a good ending, the general of Fort Carlson got what he deserved. He would of killed Morris and his people, since he was convinced they were the enemy.
