Highly recommend for those with all levels of interest in birds (all levels other than zero, that is). The photographs are very nice. The write-ups are short, featuring interesting stuff about behavior and and habitat and omitting most of the relatively uninteresting details of distinguishing marks, timing of migration, clutch size, nest type, etc. Well-written for a broad audience with more space devoted to pictures than text. Although devoted to the Northeast US, it also includes the more than the appropriate share of the more charismatic families (Hawks & Owls), including relative rarities. Land birds only - no waterfowl or shorebirds.
