Fast Break #2

Facts, Smacts!

Rate this book
It’s not my agility that catches basketball player Tyron Channing's attention. It can’t be when he found me grazed and hurt after an embarrassing slip. But my oh my, his breath-catching growls and him hauling me off my ass with a question that makes my head spin: Who did this to you? — make me dizzy with want.

Between his intensity and his sweetness, he turns me into a melted puddle of goo, which isn’t as gross as it sounds. And who knew I liked my men to wield facts like they’re as essential as oxygen, all while being so smart that sometimes his brain-to-mouth function has no filter?

There’s something else you need to know about Tyron. He’s all in and holds nothing back from our new friendship. Because that’s totally what this is, right? Carrying my bag to classes, handing me my favorite coffee when I least expect it, being my defender, and introducing me to his teammates... they’re all normal actions when people become study partners. I’ll keep telling myself that—anything more with Tyron seems impossible.

That doesn't stop me from fantasizing or holding out hope that one day, Tyron will see me as more than the geeky math nerd who just happens to have caught his attention.

I want to wrap Tyron up in a blanket and make him nap!

I enjoyed this but it was definitely one of those books that feels both drawn out and rushed at the same time. The events we do see are really repetitive (studying, rehearsal, basketball training) and then there are so many time jumps but not much really happens. I would have preferred the pacing to tell the story over a longer period of time, like the whole of their senior year so we can see them growing together.

What did Logan's dad say in the call? What was his dad's reaction to his inheritance? What happened with their senior year? Did Tyron ever sort his planner out? 😂 It was just such an abrupt ending and it really felt like a lot of loose ends weren't tied up which was disappointing.

4.5 stars. Tyron and Logan were the cutest couple!! We first meet Tyron in book 1 of this series and I’m going to be honest, I didn’t really like him. Within the very first chapter of this book my entire opinion of him changed and I absolutely loved his character the entire way through. I loved the insight we got into how his mind works and his personality from book 1 made so much more sense! I also learned a new term: sapiosexual. I loved how this played a role with Tyron’s romantic life.

Logan was a great character and I felt he was such a great fit for Tyron who has so much pressure in his life. The fact that these two are so oblivious with their relationship at the beginning was absolutely hilarious. You can kind of call it miscommunication but it was done in the cutest way possible. Once they did get together I loved how realistic their relationship felt. They take things very slow and not everything in their relationship is about sex.

The book titles in this series are absolutely perfect for the MCs. I was certain I knew who the next book in the series would be about but sadly I was wrong. I am looking forward to reading Leon’s story though. I love these boys and their team. Such a supportive family!

On a side note this book also has amazing text formatting. I wish all authors would adopt this formatting!

The Brixham Bears are back with Tyron's story.

Tyron is one of most requested characters ever! Which, honestly isn't that surprising since he immediately captured my heart in Rules, Schmules!.

So far, I'm having such wonderful fun finding his voice, discovering more about his character, and guess what?! So is the delicious hottie who he's falling for.

This college romance filled with self-discovery and a bi-awakening is going to be epic!

CHEEKY EXCERPT - *unedited and subject to change*

Surprise flickers through me. “Logan?” As soon as his name escapes, the tightening in my gut pulls taut. A throb of vibrating energy fills my muscles, making my limbs shake.

I know this guy.

Hearing his name, his gaze connects with mine. His wince is immediate, whether from the movement or the fact it’s me, I have no idea.

“F*ck. Tyron.”

Well, that clears that up. His reaction doesn’t do a thing to release the tightness in my limbs. In fact, it does the opposite.

My feet propel me forward and for the first time, I’m touching him. Logan. I carefully tug him up, but rather than stepping away, I palm his cheek, tilting his head, forcing him to look at me. “Who did this to you?”

You hear that deep-ass grumble in my voice? Yeah, it kinda surprises me too. While I don’t like to see anyone hurt, my reaction to Logan is way over the top. But between you and me, I’ll be honest here and let you know there’s no reining it in.

And why’s that exactly?

Here’s the thing. Logan Bryce is f*cking beautiful.

After searching my gaze and swallowing, he closes his eyes. “No one. I’m honestly fine.”

Facts, Smacts! by Becca Seymour

Contains: Demi-sapiosexual, nerd, basketball player + gay, oblivious, & drag queen, gay parents vs. homophobic parents, vers, hea.

**side note: Yes, I had to Google sapiosexual 😂**

4.5 stars.

Once again, the author introduces us to some amazing characters. The world. The relationship between the characters but also the shenanigans between their groups of friends solidify the story. I simply loved it. I was so engrossed in this book with all the sweetness, and I was even a little heartbroken by the young man's distress. Fortunately, everything ends well.

The main characters are so sweet and so much new adult trying to survive and balance their collegial life. One is so sure of himself, smart, and have everything in line or that he seems to. The other is so much oblivious, shy, just trying to emerge from his shell. But together, their chemistry is hot.

One thing I'm certain of, I will definitely read the following books as soon as they are released. Can't wait already.

Wow - I read this book just thinking it would be a good book to pass the time and enjoyable enough. Boy did I not give it enough credit - it is GOOD! Every single thing about this book is refreshing and straightforward. No hiding, not communicating, just 2 people attracted to one another who find their perfect match.

Tyron is a basketball player, super academic smarty pants, and a problem solver with a serious and focused demeanor. He doesn’t mess around or loose his cool. Ever. He is highly intellectual and is attracted to others that are as well. His penchant for facts is adorable.

Logan is an academically focused college student who is working towards his goal of getting away from his stifling, controlling, and homophobic father after he graduates.

Tyron and Logan are just 2 peas in a pod. The first part of their relationship is just so cute and awkward in moments that I could not stop smiling. The misunderstanding about them dating at the car wash was just the absolutely cutest. I adored how Tyron was so honest and open about his feelings with Logan - the directness of their communication made this book so enjoyable. I never had those moments of being frustrated with the MCs that sometimes happen.

And when they explore the physical side of their relationship? Wow it was steamy and intense - just a beautiful window into 2 men truly caring for one another. Beautiful!

Great side characters and great plot lines to follow - this book was just all around fantastic! I did not read the first book in the series and didn’t feel like I was missing anything I this one.

I received an ARC from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.

Tyron and Logan were a really sweet couple. Tyron was first introduced in Book 1 of this series and is on the basketball team. We find out the Tyron has a really high IQ and wants to work for the FBI when he gets out of school. He plans his day to the very last minute with basketball practice, studying, class projects, and so forth and hates any kind of dishonesty. He first really notices Logan after seeing him with a black eye and worrying that someone beat him up. They end up having a class together and Tyron decides that he really likes Logan. He begins to ask Logan to study with him and to get coffee and dinner and thinks they are dating but doesn't really make sure that Logan is on the same page. When Logan asks if they dating, Tyron realizes he needs communicate better. As they date, Logan beings to realize that Tyron is taking on too much and that Tyron keeps trying to squeeze in more activities and helping his friends out with projects. Meanwhile Logan has been keeping a secret from Tyron and finally comes clean that he is doing a project t honor his late grandfather. To make their relationship work, Tyron has to slow down and stop trying to do so much and Logan has to finally stan dup to his father and let him know that he is not going to work for one of his friends but instead plans to work for the government. This was a sweet, pretty low angst story and both of the MC's were really likable. I would recommend this book for anyone wanting a light on the drama read.

Facts, Smacts! is a low angst college romance between a popular jock basketball player and a shy, quiet guy who tends to keep to himself.

Tyron Channing is more than just a basketball player - he’s also genius level smart, dedicated to his goal of joining the FBI after graduation and always willing to help his friends and family whenever possible. Between classes and basketball, his schedule is full but he finds himself overcommitting to things, making him even busier. Logan Bryce is a college student who tends to keep to himself but is stepping out of his comfort zone to do something his late grandfather tasked him with, forcing him to juggle his commitments. He’s intelligent and driven to do something helpful with his career instead of falling back on the expectations of his unaccepting family after graduation.

Ty and Logan’s relationship was sweet - with Ty being both demisexual and sapiosexual, their connection took a minute to build and their lack of clear communication was a little infuriating at points. But I think they fit together well even though their worlds didn’t necessarily overlap outside of the classroom. I wish they communicated more in general, something that comes back to bite them toward the end of the book, and that we got to see them interacting with others more - they existed in a bubble when they were together most of the time and I wanted more fun with the basketball team.

I felt like there was a lot of telling instead of showing happening here and some random skips in time, which left me feeling a little disconnected from Ty and Logan and their relationship. Things started to drag a bit in the middle and it took me a little while to get back into the story. I wish there was more time to see the two of them happy and together at the end (excluding the epilogue) and I wanted more Kieran and Dean moments. But I’m really hoping for a Sammy and Bentley story soon!

Tropes: none
Feels: 3.5/5
Steam*: 3/5
Kinks: none
Angst: low
Triggers/potential icks: homophobia, bad parents

Logan is a gay 22-year-old senior. He's really smart. He has homophobic parents more so his dad than his mom. His dad is threatening to cut him off. His grandfather was the only person he was close to and his grandfather has passed away recently.

Tyron is a bit of a genius, he's 22 a senior in college. He is Demi and sapiosexual and bisexual. He has two dads. He plays basketball and has a really full life with school, basketball and his social life. He's a really ambitious guy, he wants to be an FBI agent. He's dealing with some stuff to do with expectations he puts on himself. He might be struggling with anxiety. He might be neurodivergent.

They run into each other a bit over the years at college. Tyron has developed a crush. Logan thinks Tyron is straight so he's not really considering him.

Tyron decides to ask Logan out for coffee. Tyron actually thinks he and Logan are dating for a month and taking it slow whereas Logan has no clue that that's what is happening. The first 33% of the book was actually pretty annoying to me because Tyron was so disconnected from reality. It made more sense later as you got to know him better. But Tyron was coming off as having zero social self-awareness. He doesn't communicate what he's thinking he just assumes that other people know what he's thinking or that it doesn't need to be stated. It came off cocky and loopy. And confusing because you're trying to get to know the characters and warm up to the characters during the early part of the book and I didn't know what was going on with Tyron, I didn't understand and couldn't like him.

It also seemed random how he kept making comments about being Alpha. Who calls themselves Alpha? Was the writer just trying to appeal to people who like alpha males so they made sure to use the word. As time went on, I understood Tyron better. I started to like how Logan makes him light up and smile. I liked that Tyron would not be able to stop himself from glaring at people. I liked that he came across grumpy and glaring.

Logan was likeable enough. Though it annoyed me that he kept his drag stuff a secret for so long. It just wasn't necessary to be a secret and be as big of a plot point as it was. I just had stronger feelings about Tyron. Once I got over the first 33% of the book I started appreciating the communication that these guys had and what they felt for each other. They supported each other and found comfort in each other. They grounded each other which was nice. I liked Tyron's reaction to the drag.

Another thing that was mildly annoying was their first time was off page. That threw me off because it's a significant moment. So much for tension/UST when they just mention during a subsequent date/hookup that this isn't the first time they hooked up.

Some notable moments:

"“And you, handsome, must be Tyron. You’re every inch as lickable as Logan’s described you to be.” I jerk my head in Donnie’s direction. Mortified. “I didn’t describe him as lickable.” “You don’t think I’m lickable?”"

"“Are you okay with them being there, knowing I’m going to be performing?” This is me being brave, trying not to worry that people I know will see me as Dewanna. He seems taken aback. Confusion flashes in his gaze before understanding dawns, and he narrows his gaze. “Just how hot do you look? Am I going to have to threaten the shit out of the guys? Not sure if I like the idea of you being spank-bank material, but as long as you’ll be coming home with me, then I can handle it. For you.”"

"“Fuck, she’s hot,” Kristof says off to my right. I snap my gaze to the freshman, wondering why the fuck he was invited. Narrowing my eyes, I glare at him. “Ouch. The fuck?” I shoot Kieran a pissed-off look, rubbing at my side where he jabbed me with his elbow. “Stop trying to set Kristof on fire with your death stare.” Amusement fills his words, but I hear the confusion too."

*FYI, I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink."

I loved Becca Seymour's first Fast Break series and was absolutely enamored with the character of Tyron. And then, we got his story and I can tell you now - the love I felt for him in book one is nothing compared to the love I feel for this man now.

Tyron is a genius and an athlete. He's also rigidly scheduled, unabashedly himself, and a bit of a people pleaser. And by a bit, I mean to the point where it is actually detrimental to his health. He also seems to be neurodivergent, but that could just be me reading into him beyond what Becca Seymour intended. Either way, some of his traits resonated very deeply with me and made me very protective over him... which is unnecessary as he's a fictional character but I digress.

He's partnered up with a love interest that is absolutely perfect for him: Logan. Logan is highly intelligent (which matters because Tyron is sapiosexual), very patient with Tyron and all of his little quirks, and unafraid to call him out when he needs it.

The two men have an incredibly healthy relationship throughout the book. The communication in this book is magnificent. There's a miscommunication at the beginning, but its hilarious and again leads me into thinking that Tyron is neurodivergent in some way. There is no will they won't they between them and the relationship builds at a natural progression - from people who know of one another to dating to boyfriends.

There is a bit of conflict because Logan's keeping a secret, one that he hypes up in his mind and then it turns out to be no big deal to Tyron. Which was adorable and felt real. His anxiety about telling Tyron what he was up to didn't feel forced and the conversation they had afterward was amazing.

I loved the unconditional love and support they showed one another. I loved the way they talked through their problems. I loved the chemistry between them and seeing them in just day to day situations, making a relationship work and overcoming usual hurdles. For a sports romance, it was very slice of life. And slice of life is one of my absolute favorite things.

I highly recommend, though I do offer caution for homophobic parents and mentions of death of a family member due to cancer.

Fast Break #2
4⭐

✔ Acquaintance to Friends to Lovers
✔ Sports Romance/Basketball
✔ MM Romance

Tyron Channing is a basketball star. If someone who didn’t know him were to describe him they’d probably use the words; aloof and unfriendly. If his friends were to describe him they would choose different words; loving, nurturing, and supportive. He’s not some dumb jock; he’s genius level smart and he doesn’t share himself with a lot of people. He’s more of a quality vs quantity type of guy. Then he runs into Logan outside a party and his need to care for people takes over.. He’s fascinated by Logan and when something fascinates Ty; he can’t let go until all his questions are answered.

This is a low angst romance which is high on the sweet and lower on the heat. For all of Tyron’s brilliance, he hasn’t quite mastered the concept of dating and a lot of the story revolves around miscommunication and assumptions about their relationship. I typically am not a fan of miscommunication as a plot; however this one was done right. It wasn’t done with malice or with intent to derail a relationship; it was done simply out of inexperience.

I was looking forward to reading about Ty after reading Rules Schmules; I knew he had a story to tell. He was different than I expected. He was self aware, sweet and if I could I’d want to give him all the hugs.

What I loved about this is the friendships between all the players and I look forward to watching them all fall in love. I also loved that although it was low angst there were real emotions flooding from the pages; stemming from anxiety, grief, friendship and love. The feelings didn’t remain only on the page. I’ll carry them with me.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this book in advance of release and being able to share it with you.

SWOON WORTHY READ!

Oh I totally fell in swoon with Tyron the way he pursued Logan and just cutely assumed they were together after two dates!

They were so cute together such intelligent people blind to what they were heading for until it was pointed out to them, sigh- boyfriend goals!

Tyron Channing made peace with his sexuality at a young age discussing it with his two dads realising where he belongs on the spectrum and decided he does not need to date until he finds that connection with his person until he sets his eyes on Logan Bryce in college who ticks all his boxes…

I loved their banter and flirtation, it was so sweet how they told each other facts at the most inopportune times and always had that special connection and effect on each other!

‘blood does not family make. Those are relatives. Family are those with whom you share your good, bad, and ugly, and still love one another in the end. Those are the ones you select.’
“you’re absolutely my family.”

A swoon worthy, page turning read with a bit of angst, laughter and steam about finding your other person and new found families!

I voluntarily received an ARC from GRR for my honest non biased opinion on this book.

A great follow on from book 1 of this series. Well written characters, cohesiveness with the basketball theme and college and likeable characters. Tyron's character is definitely unique and I will admit to having had to google what 'sapiosexual' meant - I guess the fact I had to look this up means we are not compatible! His unique character gives him an air of extreme confidence and maturity but once his relationship with Logan takes place and he finds his sexual urges incorrigible you see him from a different perspective. With him admitting that his sexuality isn't as mature as the rest of him and how he micro manages himself takes such a toll on him. I really liked Tyron, and his honesty with his feelings really worked with Logan's character. Logan was a sweetie, the story starts off with him being shy and profusely blushing but this is where Tyron's confidence takes over and Logan soon comes into himself. Although this story is based around a basketball team, the sport side is not dominating and the book really is based on two men falling in love. The sex and intimacy were well written and definitely sexy. The epilogue was a nice treat, we got a fast forward to their future and how their careers have taken off.  I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Loved these boys! ❤️

Tyron is a literal genius, plays college basketball and has a thing for facts. He can come across as a bit grumpy but would do anything for his friends. He’s also attracted to and fascinated by Logan. Logan is funny and smart, has a secret and in Tyron’s eyes is beautiful.

When circumstances lead them to spending more time together the connection between them deepens and before long they go from seeing each other to dating to boyfriends. They do take their time getting to know each other better before the steamy times begin along with plenty of sweet and tender moments.

There’s no major drama on the road to their HEA, just one hiccup which is sorted out very promptly.

I was fully engaged from the start of this really enjoyable read. Tyron and Logan are really wonderful characters and the cast of side characters kept things interesting. I do enjoy the writing style of this author and her story telling ability with the elements of plot, pacing and characters perfectly balanced. I smiled throughout the whole book, especially with some of the facts Tyron spouted and my heart was so happy for them at the end.

Story 4☆
Spice 2.5☆

Really enjoyed this story, even more than Kieran and Dean's story. I adore tall he characters in this series. They're a lot of fun. ♡

Loved more ball/court time in this one, as well as the side project Logan was working on. Was a lot of fun! Donnie was one of my favorite secondary characters, and I am especially excited to read about a specific bromance evolving in future books.

Mild spice SPOILERS below?

I was hoping for a better spice rating with this one but wasn't satisfied. I struggle with missing the "firsts" between couples, and we missed a couple of big ones here.
Ie. their first time doing anything sexual and all of Logan bottoming was behind the scenes with vague mentions on-page that it happened, which was disappointing.
I also was so sad to see a cut and uncut couple and no docking? Not even a mention of it. :(

I really suck at making and sticking to my reading plans for the day... Instead of reading what I had intended or what I had already on my Kindle, I downloaded two new series to binge-read. Here's Becca Seymour's "Fact, Smacts!" (part of her Fast Break series).
["It’s not my agility that catches basketball player Tyron Channing's attention.

That doesn't stop me from fantasizing or holding out hope that one day, Tyron will see me as more than the geeky math nerd who just happens to have caught his attention."]

Oh my GOD!! D: If I thought that the fluff in the first book was strong, this book!!!! I'm dying. I'm dead. It was so much sweetness and love and protectiveness and support.

Also, the first few chapters were hilarious. Tyron totally thought they were dating, and Logan...totally didn't. It was sweet and really fun to watch play out from one POV to the other.

AlsoAlso, there needs to be more books in this series. I'm not done yet with these lovable basketball playing dorks.

Summary: When basketball star Tyron finds math major Logan looking a bit beat up all of his protective instincts are raised. It only takes this one interaction for Tyron to want to get to know Logan better. And when it turns out they have a class together, Ty’s got the perfect excuse. Logan can’t help but be attracted to Tyron, especially the more he sees that Ty’s standoffish persona hides a kind and generous heart. If only their study dates were real dates.
“Intelligence is hot as hell. Am I right?”

“It’s difficult to speak without emotion. Difficult not to blurt out how close I am to falling for him. Completely. Irrevocably. I could. Maybe I should.”

“Maybe I should be worried for my heart and the amount of hammering it’s been doing against my chest wall since meeting Tyron. And the way it apparently swells or trips over itself, it’s a wonder I’m still standing.”

Review: Tyron is a wonderfully complex character—to strangers, he’s a cold, hard grump, but to friends, he’s selfless, kind, and generous. He’s beyond smart, disciplined, and almost toxically overachieving. He’s self-aware and completely at ease with being a demi- and sapiosexual bisexual. He’s truly a delight to read about—from his overprotective growls to his spouting of random facts. Logan is a little less complex, but he’s a perfect match for Tyron. Logan has his own issues, of course—a complicated relationship with his parents and a secret project he took on to honor his recently deceased grandfather. It’s lovely to watch their relationship grow—how they learn to trust each other and the mistakes they make along the way. Logan needs to learn to trust and to stand up for himself. Tyron needs to learn that he doesn’t have to be perfect and he’s allowed to say no sometimes. And I love, love, love that the epilogue is so far in the future—I love it when authors do that!

I’m definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series—especially Sammy and Bentley’s story.

This was such a sweet, mostly uncomplicated, story.
Logan and Tyron are two lovable guys. Both intellectual and dedicated.

Tyron is coming from a warm family, with all the room to be himself and explore.
Logan isn’t that lucky, his parents are cold, demanding, calculating, and homophobic. He needs all his strength to keep them out of his life as much as possible.
Thank goodness he had contact with his grandpa the last two years of the man’s life.

Tyron wants to stay low during the basketball season. No spotlights on him. He has a very busy schedule.
But a chance to be with Logan he can’t let pass.

They started a bit awkward, with some miscommunication and misunderstanding, but it was all fun.
You can feel it in the air, something beautiful is blooming. Yes, that’s a fact!

Logan has a secret project to honor his grandpa, which no one knows about. It’s hard work because Logan is quite clumsy and can’t have that working for this project.

Both feel the pressure of duties and responsibilities, Tyron feels responsible for a lot of things and it’s tiring him out. So here’s where some stress is slipping into the story.

Tyron and Logan are soft, warm, and most of the time mature. Tyron’s family was a wonderful addition to the story. The basketball teammates and friends were awesome.
The author has a lovely way of writing, with a positive atmosphere, sometimes a bit confusing when we are middle of something and the facts about it, to make things clear, came later.
Overall a story with a sweet and precious romance.

it was my first time reading a book where the characters would talk directly to the reader and guess i didn’t really like it 🙂
but apart from this… idk the MCs were kinda boring, no changes of personality at all, and the “who did this to you” in this book was very disappointing🫠
I liked the fact Ty had two dads but i didn’t like anything else.
I couldn’t understand half of Tyron’s behavior, starting with his sudden obsession towards Logan. Yeah okay it was said in the book he got a weird feeling towards him and bla bla but his way of approaching was too sudden. Like, what do you mean you start finally talking to your crush after you found him one night at a party? You needed just that to gather your courage to talk to him? It was like he forgot about Logan until that moment and then all of the sudden he became Tyron’s new obsession LOL
Everything felt too rushed imo, for example, by their second date Logan was one of his closest people…? Tyron is described as a person who doesn’t waste time on people he doesn’t care about and doesn’t open up easily, but by their second date (maybe even from the first lol) he considered Logan as one of the few people he can trust, uhm... say what?!
And the dating misunderstanding, maybe it was supposed to let the audience laugh or something but i couldn’t get past the fact Ty really thought they were dating without even telling Logan and especially, he thought they were dating after only the first date?? Bro at least give Logan the choice and the time to process if he really likes you or nah bruh.
I couldn’t even arrive to the point of discovering what’s Logan’s secret, and as a person who’s really noisy and curious that should be surprising in itself.

Good but missing something

This book is really a slow burn which I don’t tend to read however I enjoyed the first one so much I kept reading this one. The story of Logan and Tyron is so beautiful. But we don’t really get to experience their connection through out the first half. How it developed. The author would say something like how they were study buddies and then the next thing you know it’s months later and they are “dating” even if one was unaware. My point however is we don’t get to enjoy this time watching them build their relationship. Because it’s just glossed over. That happens quite a bit. We read about them being intimate with each other however we don’t actually see it. We’re just told it happens. When they spend the night with each other for the first time we’re told it’s going to happen then bam the next day and they’re driving somewhere talking about how great it was. That happens A LOT. Some big discussions are had too about being vers and such and I feel like we missed out on not getting to read about that conversation. I just got tired of being TOLD what happened and not getting to experience it. I feel like it made me not connect with them. Which is such a shame because I love both MCs so much.

Don’t get me wrong this book was great and I’ll definitely continue the series I just hope the next one we get to experience the journey with the MCs.

I liked Tyron when we met him in Rules, Schmules (book 1) and it was great to get to know him better. I liked how easily he accepted his feelings and thoughts about Logan in his stride despite never having been interested in a man before and liked also how low angst the path of their relationship was, bar one misunderstanding and jumping to the wrong conclusion.

Tyron and Logan made such a cute couple and were really good for each other in so many ways. I loved learning a new word and its meaning 'sapiosexual', smart people are sexy indeed. I enjoyed how Tyron pursued Logan but forgot to let Logan know his intentions, it was amusing to see how bemused this ultra-smart guy could be when it came to trying to start a relationship.

Once again we have parents who treat their son being gay as a crime and who try to control him with threats and money, parents like this don't deserve to have children. I really felt for Logan having to deal with his parents, especially his arrogant father and loved the scene where Tyron puts him in his place. On the complete other end of the spectrum, Tyron's parents couldn't be more supportive of their children and I really liked his two dads.

Tyron and Logan do a lot of studying, I guess they are in college and both have big ambitions for where they see their futures heading. Tyron was an overachiever and people pleaser and this resulted in some mental health issues that needed to be addressed, he was lucky to have Logan by his side.

I'm looking forward to seeing which of the guys gets their book next.

After meeting Tyron’s character in book 1 of the Fast Break series, I was glad to be getting a chance to get his story. He’s more than just the quirky roommate/teammate to Kieran from the first book with an obsession for pizza.

He’s such an interesting character-incredibly driven with genius level abilities and a goal of joining the FBI. He’s motivated and has his schedule down to the minute. He’s also giving and helpful to his friends and teammates. His path crosses Logan who he’s noticed during their previous classes. Logan is also highly motivated and very intelligent but dealing with issues with his family and a project he keeps very close and doesn’t let too many people know about.

They are a cute college story with all their moments from their awkward beginning and Tyron’s lack of communication regarding his feelings to the support from Tyron for Logan and his secret project. There are definitely some miscommunication moments but it’s not annoying since this is new adult and I guess I give a little more leeway.

Having Logan in his life helps him slow down and teaches him to not overwork and overextend himself. That he can still have the bigger picture and the goal but taking a step back isn’t a bad thing. A lesson that sometimes takes a long time to learn and a nice reminder for this reader.

I loved this sweet story. Tyron and Logan are great together. I also liked the team as family which is one of my favourite tropes in sports romance, and Tyron’s family rocks.

I like how Tyron and Logan get each other, and are what the other needs and wants. I also liked how they’re both inexperienced at dating, and loved the scene when Logan finally figures out what their relationship truly is. I love how he understands why Tyron gets absorbed in facts and goes down rabbit holes with them.

I love Tyron’s interactions with his family and the mystery behind Logan’s meeting. His honouring his grandpa is very sweet, especially with him so far out of his comfort zone to do so. I love the friends he makes there. Logan’s father is horrible. I love how the team have his, and Tyron’s back, and how Tyron uses research and facts to put Logan’s father on the backfoot.

The way Logan finally meet Tyron’s family is nicely done. I liked how the misunderstandings were written, and how they highlight their different personalities. I love Tyron’s father, Mac, and his conversation with Logan.

Their HEA and glimpse of their future lives is sweet, and still very much about family and the team. I’m looking forward to more in this series.

Facts, Smacts! was such a great book! I've been looking forward to Tyron's story since he was introduced in Rules, Schmules and I wasn't disappointed!

Tyron is a member of his college's basketball team and is genius level smart. He has his entire life scheduled and hasn't allowed himself to take the time to date in college until he meets Logan. Tyron watches Logan in class for a year before he decides to pursue him. Logan isn't quite sure why Tyron is suddenly everywhere due to lack of communication which I actually found endearing.

Once Tyron figures out how to communicate, the men are all in. Logan and Tyron were exactly what the other person needed. Tyron stood up to Logan's father when he was trying to manipulate Logan's life and Logan provided a sense of calm for Tyron's over-active brain.

This was a sweet, low-angst story that made me fall in love with both Tyron and Logan. It was great to see Kieran and Dean again as well as the other basketball player roommates. I'm looking forward to Leon's book next.

Fast Break take two!
Jumping in now with more developed characters, it was a ton of fun to follow the story of the Bears' big bear.
Tyron & Logan are so sweet together! I loved that Tyron fell so fast for Logan that Logan wasn't even initially aware he was being courted. The thought that the two would only be study partners had never crossed his mind, despite his desire for more. Their relationship was magical in that it was never truly hidden away, just maybe a bit surprising to some. I love the absolute support all of the characters give one another. I would never expect otherwise in this type of story, but it's wonderful to see none the less.
I was quite surprised that there was no team reveal about Logan's secret project, but it was incredible to see how much it affected Tyron, and how proud he was. I'd have loved to get the rest of the team's take; though perhaps that will be done in a later story.

I loved this story, and can absolutely recommend it. Even if you don't end up reading the first book in the series before it, the story in this book itself was a great read.

This was a great second book in the series. Sometimes the second book doesn’t live up to the hype of the first one, but not in this case. This book was well-written and we get to meet new characters while catching up with old ones. The author did a great job of portraying and explaining the sexual makeup of Tyron’s character.

Both the main and secondary characters are great. The reader can get a real sense of who they are and their characteristics. Tyron was so gruff in the first book so it was nice to see how gente and actually charming he can be, and Logan is adorable! I’d say the class that Logan and Tyron should have had together was Chemistry, but then they didn’t need a class for that; they just had it! They were steamy!

This book has just the right amount of angst and drama. It gave the story volume, and I just love when everything works out and there is a HEA.

This was cute! Loved Tyron and Logan's love story. Tyron can come off as a grumpy and serious kind of guy, but he has a warm and gooey center with the people he cares about. Enter Logan. Logan captures the attention of Tyron, and from there, their friendship and then romance begins. I laughed when Logan didn't realize or want to believe in Tryon's interest for him, and he didn't realize that they were dating until it was literally right in his face. Logan's parents were awful, but Tryon's parents just made me so happy. My only hiccup was that the story kind of lulled during the middle. It took a bit for the pacing to pick up from there.

Oh, these two are just couple goals! Seriously!

Great communication, steady relationship, general openness and every other aspect of this couple just made me swoon. This is what I call couple goals!
To be fair, there are awesome characters all around. Really, the team, the friends and other secondary characters are all great. I wish we had more places like this, open and accepting of everyone, around the world. One can dream, right? I loved the setting, the characters, the plot. And not just because I am a sucker for nerd/jock pairings, although, I won't lie, that might be a part of it. Whatever the case here, I liked it.

This book was another gem from this author. Tyron and Logan are adorable, and getting to know them was a pleasure, and watching their relationship develop is a delight. I loved the slow burn as they learned about each other and themselves, and liked that they had some bumps in their road to happiness, which made it all feel real. The quirky side characters of Tyron’s team members, and his family added interest and humour with their funny banter.
In short, this was a sweet, low-angst story with some steam and great characters that I enjoyed from the first page to the last. Highly recommended.
I received a copy of this book from GRR to review, and this is my honest and voluntary opinion.

This is the second in a series, I haven't read the first and enjoyed it as a standalone.

I liked this as Tyron was a complex character, hyper intelligent and very self-aware for the most part, but not perfect and definitely flawed. I liked his explanation of his sexuality, he's right that it's a spectrum and I loved how he identified as. I also liked Logan, although he was so completely oblivious to Tyron wooing him in the beginning, I just wanted to tell him! It was honestly so completely sweet though, these two together were just great.

I really enjoyed the book on the whole, although I could have had words with Tyron more than once when he wouldn't listen to what others - especially Logan - were trying to tell him. I liked Logan's story with his family too, not all families are supportive or loving and it's important to represent that. I just wish there had been more of a resolution with his Dad, that seemed like a loose end that never really got tied up, to me.

All in all this is a sweet, low angst, read dealing with two people who really do belong together, and I really enjoyed it.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

What a wonderful love story about two very different college boys, one the smart basketball player (Tyron), and one a geeky math nerd (Logan). Both accept who they are and interact when Tyron comes to be Logan's protector after seeing Logan with a black eye. I love how these two go from friends to more, how the communicate like real life college students, and handle their lives honesty and openly. I especially loved how Logan found his voice to stand up to his awful father and how Tryon learned he did not have to be in control of everything. A sweet love story that made me smile and feel good. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.
