Hartley White has her life figured out. Her days are spent with either her two best friends or with her nose in a book. Everything changes when the boy across the street is assigned to be Hartley’s partner in English class. Jason Carter keeps to himself because of the rumors circulating about his family. Gossip spreads fast in a small town, whether it’s true or not. One thing that is true, however, is his strong infatuation with Hartley. After having an intimate dream about Jason, Hartley finds herself more curious about this neighborhood stranger. Their relationship develops rapidly, testing the limits of themselves and the people around them. When unexpected tragedy strikes, their love faces another challenge. In a situation rife with secrets, Hartley struggles to make sense of the truth while Jason fights his own battles. Ten days is all it took for Jason and Hartley to fall for one another, but how well do they really know each other?

I had to keep reading to see what would happen next! It kept me on edge and wanting to keep reading. I’m kind of hoping Hartley and Jason’s story doesn’t end here….
A great first story done by Brooke! I’m so looking forward to reading more!!!

This book pulled me in more deeply than I expected. What starts as a quiet, small-town romance quickly becomes something much more emotional and layered. Hartley and Jason’s connection feels raw and real, full of tension, vulnerability, and unspoken hurt.

Brooke Cochrane captures the intensity of young love, the weight of secrets, and the ache of not fully knowing the people we think we’re closest to. It’s tender, heartbreaking, and beautifully written. I finished it feeling both full and shaken in the best way.

I absolutely loved writing this book. I first had the idea of Stranger when I was seventeen years old, but I didn’t officially finish writing it until I was twenty-five. It’s been a long journey, one that I wouldn’t change a thing about. I hope readers love Jason and Hartley like I do. And maybe there will be more to come.
