Then the storm turned into a cataclysmic event as giant rocks crashed into the Earth.
And dragons came crawling out of every one of them.
Lots and lots of radioactive dragons.
Now, nowhere but the ocean is safe, and home is an eight thousand mile journey across the seas. Even if I have to go full pirate, save some damsels in distress, and plunder to survive, I’m making it home in one piece.
Yo-ho-ho, you scaly bastards.
Disclaimer: The protagonist of this series has descriptive adult relations with multiple women, sometimes at the same time.
But I was bored and ran out of books. This is just lazy. The dialogue is terrible. The situations are obvious. The characters are non existent. This whole thing is a framework for a book with no substance.
If you have ever wondered what would happen if radioactive meteors fell from the skies that contained dragons, this is the book for you. The Apocalyptic Pirates is a new series that looked interesting and so I thought I would give it a try. It has been a fun beginning to a new series by Eric Vall. You are introduced to the main character Drew as he is attempting to get home to his daughter and parents in the Hawaiian islands. A meteor storm is predicted that will be fun to watch but not cause any issues and like a good book introduction-everyone is horrible wrong. When the first meteor hits Drew’s plane on the tarmac, the world turns upside down. With Drew’s quick thinking and outside the box problem solving, he is able to get away, even after he sees the first set of dragons emerge from other meteors on the ground. The rest of the book follows his adventure as he steals a ship, with Ally still on board after a drunken attempt to ruin her ex-husbands prized yacht, and rescues Shannon from a party boat disaster. They must find a way to collect supplies, fight of the scum that tries to take advantage of a world disaster and start their ocean journey to Hawaii, and Drew’s family, from the Connecticut shoreline. The book has a nice mixture of action/adventure and personal connections that you would expect from this type of book but neither seem to overwhelm the book or the other. The characters have a nice development to make you interested in their adventure and want to see how they get out of each crazy situation. The book has a nice tempo and moves from one situation to the next without a lot of down time or wasted story. I enjoyed that Mr. Vall let Drew maintain his decency even in such dramatic times yet showed that he can take charge when needed. Shannon and Ally play important roles and are shown to be more partners versus merely fluff and that makes the story more interesting. All in all, I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next book in the Apocalyptic Pirate series.
AI think Eric Vall had some help with this one, maybe from his friend Claude. Not a single spelling error in the whole book. However, it didn’t matter at all to me. The book is about a third action and suspense, a third humorous, and a third sex. The three main characters must become pirates, well, good pirates, in order to continue the ocean trip from the East coast of the U.S. to Hawaii. A slight glitch in the Universe causes the necessity for the trip. You know, something like radioactive dragons falling from the sky. Everyday stuff like that. My only complaint, pay attention Mr. Vall, is that I have never heard of a revolver with a safety on it. Although an equivalent safety for the revolver is removing the bullets. Anyway, it was a great start to a new series and I’m looking forward to starting the next book.
yea, had to stop at 83%. How does our MC have sex with a woman who just got divorced because of a cheating husband and 24 hours later is cheating on her with his next woman. Somehow she is ok with sharing now. He is really setting a great example for his 12 year old daughter to follow. Hopefully she can share her man when she grows up just like her father expects his woman to do.
The characters end up in a sailboat on the east coast and are supposed to get the Hawaii in a month? It would take a month to sail to Hawaii from California. Then we have revolvers with safeties (omg) at least the author knew about speed loaders. There were just so many stupid or plain ignorant things in the book I would have been pulling my hair out in frustration if I had the hair to pull.
This is a good start to a new series from Eric Vall. Awesome premise and still keeping with the idea of a harem at sea. I can imagine some good scenarios for future books including having to deal with more pirates, gangs at sea and in ports where they have to stop for additional supplies. Not to mention how to get from the Atlantic ocean to the Pacific. Traveling through the Panama Isthmus should be book by itself. Looking forward to it.
Good read! Eric puts forth an interesting possibility not entirely implausible. Today we are living through weather conditions not experienced before. A meteor storm rings as a not unimaginable happenstance. Anyone searching for an entertaining relatively quick read should give this story a try. Dragons are the stuff of legends and could have fallen to earth in the manner described in this book. Stranger things have happened.
This is not the first time apocalypse has been done but the way this one's done is a little different and I like it. I like the characters each one is different and brings their own skills to the table. I had a lot of fun reading this although the main character did a little too much retroflexion in his mind but other than that it is a great story.
I didn’t have high expectations for this, but it felt pretty incomplete. Forgettable characters aside, there’s not enough piracy in this book to justify its title. It’s a good read if you want something fast-paced and thrilling, but I’d suggest reading RJ Barker’s The Bone Ships over this one either way, since the plot is a lot more focused on seafaring.
I thought this was a great first book. It grabbed your attention right from the beginning. I believe that this book will be on par with some of his other great books. Book number 2 can not come soon enough.
Another cracking read from this excellent author , the plot is excellent and the characters very good, look forward to book 2 and see if anyone else joins the crew
A very well written end of the world as we know it adventure!!! A quite unique alien invasion, A non OP MC and great ladies!!! I for one can't wait to see what happen a next!!!
This is a very new take on Eric Vall’s stories. Its not an isekai where the MC is brought to a new world and its not technically a fantasy book either. Really enjoyed it so far and can’t wait for the next one.
Very similar to Dinosaur World with a different cast of antiheroes. Plenty of action, suspense, violence and differing factions. Looking forward to next book.
Meteorites with dragon's. Definitely not some boring zombie apocalypse at least. Plus 2 gorgeous and intelligent women to boot!!! Great start to a series.
This was a really exciting and fast paced read, definitely not your average apocalyptic scenario, which makes it all the better! The characters are really engaging as well, I eagerly await the next one!
