Li numa noite de insônia e parece algo que o chatgpt cuspiria com base em uma determinada troppe de romances no velho oeste. A gente quase pode ver a autora ticando itens de uma lista de como a trama que ela escolheu é geralmente contada. Personagens rasos, conflitos cliché, ambientação horrível.

Violet não entendia o motivo de tudo aquilo estar acontecendo em sua vida, mas sabia que fugir com sua égua seria o único caminho a seguir.
Seus planos eram simples, seguir a diligência sem deixar rastros de sua égua até chegar no rancho em que seu primo vivia, e desfrutar da promessa dele de que cuidaria dela.
Entretanto, ao chegar os seu destino recebe uma notícia que pode destruir todo o seu futuro. Wade é o portador dessa notícia tão dolorosa para ele quanto para Violet.
E sem saber que rumo tomar, Violet propõe a Wade um casamento por conveniência e ambos estariam a salvo.
Bem, exceto que o coração é traiçoeiro, e o que deveria ficar somente no contrato parece querer tomar forma. Mas Wade já foi casado uma vez, e a humilhação vivida não permitia ao seu orgulho arriscar o coração novamente.
Entre momentos de calmaria, o cruel e mesquinho pai de Violet a encontra, e na tentativa de levá-la de volta para vendê-la nem que fosse para um bordel, Violet e Wade precisarão decidir o caminho que anseiam por trilhar.

...but is their mutual love for Elliot enough of a reason to marry?
I love how determined Violet is, she is feisty and strong willed but has a heart of gold and puts the animals needs and safety before her own. No wonder Wade falls for her.
Wade is broken, he has lost his best friend, his trust was shattered by a woman and he is too proud to risk his heart and body again...your heart goes out to him as he fights to find a way forward.
This is a really sweet start to the series, I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

This is a sweet and heartwarming story with outstanding characters. Violet Cook flees her home after her hard hearted father threatens to sell her beloved horse, Pilgrim. She intends to travel to visit her cousin Elliott, but upon her arrival is met by Wade Reardon instead. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Violet is forced to marry Wade who is cold and somewhat hard hearted. Will Violet ever be able to penetrate his cold heart for a HEA? Be sure and read this real page turner to find out; I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

This was a cute, short tale of a young woman running from her cruel father. He threatened her with selling her horse and her to an evil, older, wealthy man. She leaves in the dead of night, just her and her mare to find her cousin and safety. You will enjoy reading this exciting and fun story.

Margaret Tanner has again given us a story with an intriguing story line, strong characters, humor, romance and a few twists. I love Violet for taking matters into her own hands.
