The Orc Upstairs - C.M. Nascosta - .5 - 1 star

Lillie is a housekeeper for Lord Ellingboe. She’s attracted to the beastly Orc. He is older and wants to pass on his title and retire to quiet. He decides to ask Lillie to be his mistress as he doesn’t want to remarry or have another life bond since he lost his wife. Lillie agrees and there’s a HEA.

I HATE the dead past lover/mate trope. Loathe it. We only get Lillie’s POV and she seems like mostly a door mat or a hole. The Lord is like “whatever, you’ll do.” He doesn’t even tell her to call him his name Efraim until the very end. So romantic, let me tell ya. I’m not a fan of this romance if you can call it that.

A Plum Job - Evangeline Priest - 4.5 stars

If you’ve read Cherry On Top, then you’ll recognize this world. Krothu is an Orc, President of the Berserkers MC, and a part-time bodyguard. He’s enamored with Plum and loves making excuses to be around her. She is the pastry chef at Ma Chérie. When Plum needs a fake date to a family dinner Kro steps up and offers to help.
“She was perfect. Every little move she made drove me mad”

Kro was such an alpha teddy bear and I loved how he loved Plum. He was confident, unintentionally witty and funny, and such a voice of reasoning all the time. No unnecessary miscommunication. Plum was so real and relatable and such a refreshing female character. For such a short story, the relationship development was pretty good and the steam was spicyyyy. After all the Orc way should be the only way😂.

“I know what my baby girl wants. What she needs…”

Short and smutty with a HEA! An Orc the way he should be and a woman who knows not to take anything for granted. Really enjoyed this.

A Calling of Fur and Fate - Dee St. Holm - 3 stars

Maren is a seer locked away with little freedom and no life but she holds onto the dreams of her Knight. But her knight is very much real and has demons of his own. So much hate and evil surrounds them but they are connected far more than they think.

“…every nightmare holds a place for hope.”

Finding each other in dreams again, they find solace in each other briefly but when Maren is ripped from their coupling she realizes her destiny. This ended on a cliffhanger and was a small sampling of the world and story to come.

Bespelled Brews - Elle Cross - No Rating

I read this story in Monsters in Love Vol. 1: Lost in the Labyrinth. I do remember really liking it but wanting more!

Tempted: The Fallen - Vivienne Hart - 3 stars

Eva, trapped in a horrible relationship, decides to have a night for herself and meets Slade the serpentine monster. The two have a steamy encounter and it’s obvious they’re meant for more but Eva disappears leaving Slade to try and hunt her down.

This ends on a cliffhanger and I’m intrigued. Unfortunately it wasn’t long enough for much development but I definitely want to read about how they’ll get their HEA.

Mastered by the Gladiator - L.V. Lane - 3.5 - 4 stars

Cassiopeia, once someone, is now a slave on Zure and is at an alien gladiator game. Kastor, a red skinned and horned alien, is fighting. When he wins he selects Cassiopeia as his reward. Kastor has been tasked with locating and retrieving Cassiopeia and doesn’t plan on hurting her but saving her instead. She is a wealthy woman and her family betrayed her. Cassiopeia seeks comfort in Kastor and he is happy to oblige.

“I will claim and master her. I will make her my pet. I will rut her often, breed her, and devote myself to keeping her safe. My little human mission doesn’t know it yet, but she is already mine”

I’m not usually into the master/pet relationship but it was light here and so it was kinda hot. Fun and a little silly, this short story had loads of steam and a HEA.

The Monster’s Mistaken Bride - Ursa Dax - Did Not Read - No Rating

Unfortunately, I’m not interested in this story.

You Can’t Get There From Here - C. Rochelle - 3.5 - 4 stars

Billie goes back to her vacation home and runs into the wolf Oren. Billie is scared at first but a memory is tingling in the back of her mind. Oren and Billie are meant to me.

“This is where I belong. I belong with you, because I’ve always been yours.”

This was short and steamy with a HEA and I really enjoyed it. Hoping to see more from this world soon!

Dark - Atlas Rose - 4 stars

Violet, sick of her now ex-boyfriend, runs into a forest to get back to Dregon. Dregon is a mothman hunter from a different world and Violet wants him after their last encounter. Before they can get away the two of them are spotted by Violet’s ex and their friends and now they’ll be on the run and hunted.

I’m almost positive the start of their story was in the previous anthology. This is a continuation and it was steamy and entertaining.

“There you go,” he murmured and opened those mammoth wings. “Come to me.”

I really liked both characters and the character and relationship development was pretty good for being short. This ends on a HFN with room to continue their story and other stories.

“I’ll call you whatever you want, Mate. Lover. Delicious. Violet…Or I could just call you mine?”

Curse of the Cyclops - Clio Evans - No Rating

This story was in Monsters in Love Vol. 1: Lost in the Labyrinth. I can’t remember if I read it or not but it does contain MM with MF and I prefer no MM when a F is involved.

Soul of the Beast - Sonia Nova - 2 stars

Zorq was created by the Krezlians and has unique characteristics. He’s big, intimidating, and doesn’t speak much or well. Despite the fact he relies on body language and mining, he doesn’t lack intelligence. He works for the Alliance and has a good life but craves a companion and love.

Stumbling upon a bakery, he spies a beautiful worker and witnesses her getting bullied. It’s that moment he decides to step in.

Aaliyah has scars, literally and figuratively. The man she works for beats her but she has no one else and very little means to make a life for herself. Her story is incredibly sad. When things go south, Zorq helps Aaliyah set up a new life and he hopes he can be a part of it.

This was fine but there was ZERO steam. So I feel cheated.

The Monsters I Desire - Salem Cross - 3.5 stars

Candice is heartbroken after her demon lovers leave her. She still hasn’t recovered from the heartbreak. One night they return.

The shadow-cyclops that can split into three are back and want Candice to hear them out. Ollie, Elgras, and Selgrin (Ogan single form) left but as much as they hated leaving they did it for her. They wanted her to be sure her decision of giving them her soul was what she really wanted. Admirable? Sure.

“There’s no us without you.”

Candice gave in way too quickly but I get why. This was short. This was steamy. Ending with a HEA, this was good even when it was frustrating lol.

“Your heart screamed for us, did you know that?…And do you know what? Our hearts screamed back”

The Clingy Summon - Daisy Shell - 3 stars

A witch and a spider - who knew?! Meira gets trapped in a realm and Cutarr wants to keep her.

“I finally have my mate in my grasp and I have no reason to let go of you any time soon”

This ends on a cliffhanger with no steam. I’m intrigued.

Within These Walls - Nova Blake - 2.5 stars

Bethany finds a bloody heart from a stalker and disappears to an abandoned home. But it’s not abandoned after all.

“Don’t worry, love,” I told it. “You own me as much as I own you.”

This house is alive and wants Bethany. This was kind of weird lol. HFN maybe?

Welcome Inn - Vera Valentine - 4 stars

Dasha needs a hotel to stay at and ends up at the only place with availability. Rumors say it’s haunted but she doesn’t believe in such things. Sitting at dinner, a beautiful man named Alexei walks in. He promises he will see her soon *wink wink.*

Hours later Dasha is awakened sharply and she is being attacked. She sees what she believes is Alexei. Is he here to save her?

Dasha is attacked by old lore creatures and taken to a Nissemaster for nefarious purposes. Alexei is a domovoi and the two of them will have to work together to get out alive.

“My little home, Dasha. It means you are my little home. There is nothing more sacred, more treasured to a domovoi than their home”

This was really unique, interesting, funny, and steamy. This ended with a HFN/HEA. Enjoyed it.

Stone Heart Monster - Eden Ember - 2.5 - 3 stars

Emily leaves her life on Daerr looking for adventure. However, she ends up getting sold to an Orc half-breed to pay a debt. She ends up on Sojss and this is where she meets her Gargoyle.

Ixtal guards and has never had any issue with doing his job until Emily touches him and he realizes she is his fated mate. But he is hesitant to claim her for many reasons but when things go south he steps in.

Emily was kind of annoying to be honest and Ixtal was rather dry. This was steamy but a little boring. Stone Heart Monster ends on a HEA.

So I Banged a Bigfoot - Kristen Strassel - 3 stars

The title says it all. But that bang turns into more and a cliffhanger. There were some things in here that just aren’t my thing (past mate🙄) but it wasn’t bad. Cinnamon roll hero and a cool heroine.

Orc Tested - Cady Austin - 4.75 stars

Alana’s life has changed drastically. No longer a family with money and power, she is desperate for help. Seeking help from the Goldenclaw Orcs is a dangerous move but a move she must make nonetheless.

Alana is duped by the Orcs (or so she thinks) and finds herself stuck with the evil Lord Albright. When she is out riding she runs into the three brutes again. Brun, Varl, and Taurin have plans for her.

“You bloom so nicely for us, wicked pet.”

There’s a bit of suspense in here that I really loved reading. I wasn’t sure what would happen. You get one impression but things are not what they seem.

Alana grows into such a beautiful and strong woman and I loved her transformation to someone that saves herself. I also loved the sneakiness of the Orcs.

“When the flame and the clan achieve balance glorious songs are written.”

This was steamy and really well written. I wanted more.

The 13th Hour - YD La Mar - 3 stars

No idea what I just read😂😂. But it was entertaining and steamy.

Tooth, Fang & Claw - Cassie Alexander - Did Not Read - No Rating

MMMM isn’t really my cup of tea. I prefer just MM so I decided not to read.

Yearning For the Dark - Alexa H. Michaels - 3 stars

Finn the Kraken finds his mate in Daria, the one that he saved from being sacrificed many years ago. This was ok. Not a lot of relationship development and Daria was a brat. This ends on a HFN with their story possibly being revisited.

The Demon’s Faerie Mate - Elizabeth Austin - 3.5 - 4 stars

Enya is a fire faerie and hides her true nature because strong emotions were triggers and she could easily burn everything to ash.

One night a demon named Sarkin from the underworld finds his way into her world. Enya and Sarkin are fated and they’ll burn the world down to be together.

“I wanted her. My hands wanted to feel her. My tongue wanted to taste her. My cocks wanted inside her. My heart wanted to love her”

This was steamy steamy and both the hero and heroine were strong characters. This ends on a HFN with possibly more.

Heart of a Satyr - Cara Wylde - 3 stars

Diana finds Thyas in her barn injured and military is after him. He is from Silenos and he’s a sileni that has fallen through a portal.

Thyas is such a teddy bear and incredibly sweet and nurturing. Diana is kind and unassuming.

“I am free when I am with you.”

They fall slowly into like and lust and Thyas believes she is his mate. This was steamy and quick with a HEA.

Live, Laugh, Lurk - Elsie Winters - 3.5 stars

Lilith finds Alistair the mothman living in her apartment building and they share an appreciation of plants and the like. This was steamy. Lilith was a good character and Alistair was a cuddly fluffy bug. It was cute. This ends with a HEA.

“Lilith,” he said in a rumbling rasp. “I fear that breeding you has become my new favorite thing.”

Shadow Monster - Karen Kincy - 4 stars

An incubus who wants his mate. Jessamyn knows there’s a monster under her bed and Obscurax has come to claim her. This was quick and dirty.

“I want to catch you, tear off your clothes, and fuck you in the forest on your hands and knees. And most of all, I want you to desire it…An incubus can tastes their prey’s desire in the air.”

Jessamyn has a choice to make. This ends on a HFN and was mostly smut with no plot but I’m not complaining.

A Briar Glenn Halloween - Ashley Bennett - 3.5 - 4 stars

This was a short novella for Tegan and Atlas from Bennett’s Leviathan Fitness world. Steamy and fun!

“Knot me, big bad wolf. I need it.”

Dirty and quick. Enjoyed it!

Devil’s Night - Sabrina Day - Did Not Read - No Rating

Unfortunately, I’m not interested in this story.

Owned by the Alien Rogue - Krista Luna - 3 stars

An alien mercenary and his mate on a mission. Frankie and Zol are cute as hell and steam up the sheets too.

“You are mine, and I am yours.” His strong arms pulled me closer. “Forever.”

Aliens and their tails man🥵.

Alien Tides - January Bell - 3.5 - 4 stars

Thrown into a labyrinth to be hunted, Meg doesn’t expect to be saved by her mate. Tredion spots Meg and she triggers all his mating and protective instincts.

“I will hunt her. I will find her. I will kiss her better”

This was unique and steamy!

The Stone and the Star - Jillian Graves -

Colossus and Astra are such a pair. A gargoyle and a human. A gargoyle who saves his woman.

“I’ve got you, my star.”

This was HOT. Ending with a HFN.

Overall, a good anthology with several stories I really enjoyed. This could have benefited from some additional editing. If you like Monster romance, enjoy!

I read an advanced copy of The Monsters I Desire, Salem Cross’s contribution to this anthology. It was a very creative and steamy short. With each new story she’s crafting new creatures and magic that are truly imaginative. This was a second chance FMMM human/monster romance

I also read an ARC of Devil’s Night Sabrina Day’s contribution. My girl is flexing her pen by contributing to the joy that is monster romance. This was hilarious, sexy, monster loving goodness with a side of torture. Because it’s the intro to a full length story and I am a Sabrina Day fiend in serious need of a fix. and because our MMM (main male monsters) are into that kind of thing. Light but still.
This was a little creep, a little embarrassing, and a lot intriguing.

ARC review for C. Rochelle’s “Can’t Get There From Here” only, for the time being; will update with the full anthology when I obtain it! 😊

You Can’t Get There From Here — C. Rochelle
⭐️ Stars 5/5 | 🌶 Spice 3.5/5

This tasty snack of a monster romance read brought all my favorite flavors of werewolf to the table: size difference, consensual primal/chase play, mating bites, and knotting. YUM! ;) The only reason the spice-o-meter isn’t higher is because of the length/page constraints; you can only fit so much into these shorts — but C. made sure to pack as much good stuff in there for her weird-hos as she could! And You Can’t Get There from Here is definitely a major nod to her Monsterlovin’ fans because our FMC, Billie, is a big ole monster smut-readin’ weird-ho too, and dang if that doesn’t come in handy when things start to heat up. 🥵

I would be remiss to not mention that in addition to spicy, this short also holds up to all of C.’s stories in the humor department too. She has a serious knack for tickling my funny bone while making my face flame and this short was chock-full of great lines — so many in fact that I had a hard time narrowing it down for y’all because I couldn’t write this review without leaving you with a tiny taste.

“Careful, little flower. I’m not sure you could handle my fancy accessory.”

“You’re ‘knot’ sure, hmm?” she murmured, a secretive smile playing on her luscious lips.

😏 (IYKYK)

If that’s not incentive enough for you to pick up this delightful monster anthology I would also like to mention that this is a prequel for the upcoming series, Strange Vacationland that she’s working on for us Monsterlovers! We get a sneaky-peek into what’s to come as well as see a familiar name or two. ;)

Also, the Mainerisms? Warmed my cold dead Mainer heart ♥️

“If I need you to stop, my safe word is Oklahoma…”

Billie returns to her family’s old cabin in the woods and discovers a monster has been living there. Fortunately for him, she’s not running away… yet. 🥰🪢✨

Despite its short length you definitely get enough backstory to relate to and enjoy the characters with a good balance of plot to spice. Plus it’s the perfect set up for a future monster matchmaking series!! 🥰

Hands down my favourite part was Billie showing off the knowledge she’d gained from reading werewolf smut. Could she be any more relatable?! 🤣👌🏻

“The legendary Turner Beast gaped at me in shock, clearly unprepared to encounter such a well-read, wannabe monster-fucker.”

Thanks to the author for the ARC - all opinions are my own.

“I woke up, injured, on top of a d*mn bell tower with no idea how I got here, and now a f*cking gargoyle has… has come to life and is telling ME to calm down!”

A voyeur gargoyle & an exhibitionist potter. He thinks she’s putting on a show just for him but she doesn’t know gargoyles are real!

This short and very spicy novelette has just enough plot to tie everything together but focuses primarily on the interactions between the two main characters.

My favourite part was Astra coming to terms with gargoyles and realising that Colossus felt rejected by her so she’d need to make a bold move to claim her monster. 😏😈 These two are really fun to *watch* and I’m definitely intrigued to learn more about them!

“Frek. This job just went about as unsmooth as you could get.”

Such a fun romp with these two characters that I previously fell in love with in Stolen by the Alien Rogue - which you can get a free copy of via the author’s IG bio!! 😉

Frankie & Zol return to rescue some humans from auction and it doesn’t go as smoothly as hoped but what’s some mild exhibitionism amongst friends?! I really enjoyed this short story - they make such a great team.

Also I am once again questioning why my partner doesn’t call me his soul’s breath?? That repeated confession is so swoony! If I was Frankie, I’d be asking Zol to say it again and again too 🥹💖

“The Goddess gifted you to me from the stars, and I am the luckiest of males.”

Thanks to the author for the ARC - all opinions are my own.

Review for The Demons Faerie Mate by Elizabeth Austin.

This is the third story I have read that takes place in the author's A Step Between Realms world. If you are new to Elizabeth. It is ok if you have not read the other books. They can each by read as standalone stories.

What is nice about this story is that it does give a bit of a peak into the world. I felt that this one was focused more on expanding this world then just about the romance. Which did not happen until the last like twenty percent of the story.

Those scenes involving Enya and Sarkin were spicy. Want to know why you should read monster romances...monster tail = two eggplants.

This was my first story by Jillian Graves and I really enjoyed it! The story, to me, was an intro into the gargoyle world that Jillian has created and I’m excited to read more from her! I absolutely loved Colossus and Astra together, they were HOT 🥵.

My review is about The Stone and the star by Jillian Graves. The short and steamy novella is set within Jillian's Gargoyle world.

Colossus is a gargoyle who watches over Astra every night and tries to keep her safe. She thinks that he is a statue until one fateful night she decides to show her inner desires in front of him, without realizing it.

The novella is short, steamy and sexy...Just how I like them.

Special thanks to Jillian Graves for providing me with this ARC copy. This is my voluntary review.

I'll be updating this as I read each short story!

First up - The Stone and the Star by Jillian Graves ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love this world that Jillian has created and this was such a great addition to it! The gargoyle we meet in this story has no idea about the bigger paranormal world around him when he falls hard for pottery artist with a wild side. This was such a fun novella, perfect amounts of sweet and spicy!

Totally Loved!!

I was sent an ARC copy of Jillian Graves story within this anthology. Again it is yet another short but great story of a gargoyle Colossus and his soon to be woman - Astra, a sculptor who teases him at night with her self pleasure. It was fun and erotic, with her realising he was in fact very real. There is a slight incident where he rescues her and they open up fully with desires and need. I want my own gargoyle now!! I need more of these two please! :)

I am very thankful to have received an ARC copy of one of the novelettes from this anthology, The Stone & the Star by Jillian Graves. Please note that I have not read the remaining stories.

3.5 stars

Short and sweet but delivers what it needs to!

If you’re a close friend of mine, then you already know how much I loved Titan since I would not shut up about it. (funny story: I read it out of spite because my friends kept making fun of that I’m into gargoyle fiction lol)

Loved coming back to the world of Titan and that we are introduced to brand-new characters. I am very picky with the romance/sm*t I read but Jillian is amazing at it and did not disappoint. And ho and below, the novelette did not -exactly- end in a sm*t scene (if you read my review from Blood Moon, that is one of my big pet peeves). Instead, it was a heart-warming ending for the main characters which also gave us an open field for the plot we will see in the future novel[(s), hopefully] of this world.

I will say that some passages from **certain** scenes - if you catch my vibe - are a bit cringy, but in the wise words of Ariana Grande:

Sign me up for more, I am begging.

I received an ARC copy of The Stone and the Star by Jillian Graves and was not disappointed. The story revolves around Astra, an artist whose main medium is clay and pottery and is a bit of an exhibitionist, as well as Colossus a giant gargoyle softie who has been watching Astra for some time. The main characters are amazing together and the spice is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. I cannot wait to read the entire anthology!!

Plot:- ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice:- 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

You have read books with heroes that are Orcs or dragon shifters buts have you ever read a book with a hero that is Dragon-Orc?

Meet, Sigwulf, a calm composed Dragon-Orc monster man that has the willpower of steel and handwriting that mistakenly brings him the love of his life.

The novella The Monster's Mistaken Bride by Ursa Dax is my new fav because of how sweet and cute the main characters were. I don't know how but Ursa Dax made me feel the burn of slow-burn romance and mutual pinning in this novella but she did her work so well that by the end I was thirsty to see the Main leads just bonk.

Grab the novella if you like any of the following:

⭐A brooding (but secretly cinnamon roll) monster who is possessive yet careful with his love and lust.
⭐A hardworking lovely anxious heroine
⭐Rags to riches
⭐Employer-employee relationship
🌶️Slowburn
🌶️Mutual pinning
🌶️Size difference
🌶️Praise kink

Love language: - Acts of Service and Gift Giving

I all enjoyed reading the story, hope you enjoy it too.

Happy reading

The Stone and the Star Review

⭐️ 5/5
🌶️ 3/5

The Stone and the Star is Jillian Graves’ short story as part of the Monsters in Love anthology. I was kindly given an ARC of the short story in exchange for an honest review, and I want to thank the author for that!

I absolutely loved this novelette by Jillian! I love the world she’s created with the Romancing His Stone series and this story is part of that world. I love the two MCs of this story and their character arcs. Jillian did a great job of creating a beautifully crafted story in such a short number of pages, and wrapped it up so beautifully. The perfect amount of spice (and it’s SPICY), great plot, lovable characters. 5/5 stars is absolutely deserved!

The Stone and the Star is around 15,000 words, featuring a lonely gargoyle, Colossus, and a potter with an exhibitionist streak, Astra. Prepare for gargoyle obsessed with curvaceous mid-size heroine, a super talented artist who needs to relax, and a big purple dildo!

This novelette is connected to the Strange Universe.

Colossus watches over Astra from afar. While watching over her, she’s almost gets attack and he chooses to reveal himself and save her.

Highly recommend reading if you want a hot, sweet and short gargoyle romance.

Review for "Orc Tested" by Cady Austin
Alana (h) struggles with all that’s thrown her way from her father’s death, to her mother’s catatonic-like state, and now a lascivious lord with nefarious intentions towards her. Having heard that there’s a trio of orcs camped nearby, Alana seeks them out and tries to bargain with Taurin (H), Varl (H), and Brun (H) to get them to do her bidding. Instead of just getting what she wants, Alana gets what she needs and becomes something much greater through her relationship with her three orcs. Ultra-hot and steamy sexy action with a bit of danger and violence (murder, carnage, threatened sexual assault, and more).

The Stone and the Star by Jillian Graves:

PHEW, this novella!!🔥
This is about a human named Astra who has some fun with herself while staring at the gargoyle perched on top of the building next door to hers. She has no idea that the attractive statue is actually alive! And now that he's glimpsed her, he's going to make her his.

This was such a joy to read. Jillian Graves is amazing with her spice, her stories, and her characters. I loved both characters so much! I wish this was a full-length novel!!

I'll update this as I read the rest of the stories. For now,the ARC I received for:
The 13th Hour by Y. D. La Mar

This is the first breeding, and it was amazing! If you want monster smut, but in short doses, you need to pick this up! Y. D. La Mar's writing is so vivid and unique and dramatic that I couldn't help but get wrapped up in the story and characters.

What you'll find:
•Breeding
•She's Mine
•Touch her and die
•Fated
•Monster 🍆🪝

I'd like to thank Y. D. La Mar for the copy of her short story, The 13th Hour.

I'll be looking for ans more of their books soon!

Lots of hits, but some misses too

I liked that there were so many options and such a variety of stories, some more romantic than others. There were a couple of stand outs for me; Live, Laugh & Lurk and Orc Tested. I mostly bought this for the C.M. Nacosta story because I am a fan of hers and while I enjoyed it, it kinda left me wanting. So I was really glad there were so many other stories to make up for it. There were some that didn't make sense, but I just went to the next one.

This review is for Jillian Graves short story “The Stone and the Star” I am obsessed with Jillian’s universe that she has created! This is my third time entering her world of gargoyles, witches and vampires and I want it all! I love all the representation for the tall and curvy girlies. And the spice…it’s perfection! Hopefully we will see our main characters Astra and Colossus in the next Strange universe book, Rook!

ARC Review for The Stone and the Star by Jillian Graves.

I cling to every magical word Jillian Graves writes, and this wholesome story is no exception.

Colossus is a gargoyle without a purpose. Until, that is, Astra meets his stony gaze long enough to convince him she knows he's alive and he needs to protect her at all costs.

Somehow, it only took a few sentences and I was rooting for Colossus to get his girl. Astra and her monster-inspired art was just the last straw and I became obsessed with these two. I love me some tall FMCs with even taller book boyfriends... er- bookmonsters. Their sweet and passionate chemistry, how eager to please our loverboy is, just - ah! So delicious. I was just smiling the entire time - sans fangs, that is.

I read and reviewed this ARC to provide an honest review to the author.

An absolutely fantastic anthology! Chalked full of wonderful, monster filled goodness by some very talented authors! Trust, if you enjoy Monster Romance, then you’ll want to grab yourself and copy of this beauty!

I especially loved C.Rochelle’s story ‘You Can’t Get There From Here’ which was absolutely brilliant! In one short chapter I was completely hooked! Billie and Oren were a delicious duo. Full of attraction and affection that I absolutely adored! They just clicked on a level that no one could touch. It was a sexy and heartwarming story that I loved from beginning to end! I can’t wait to see what else C. Rochelle has in store for us in this world!

The Stone & The Star by Jillian Graves was beautiful, passionate, and just all around fabulous! I loved Astra and Colossus and the story they built together. The attraction between them was fire *fans self*! But they also had this strong bond of safety and home between them that was truly lovely.

I love anything written by Jillian Graves and once again she didn’t disappoint. The stone and The star was a cute and spicy short story that I finish in one sitting. Her gargoyle men have ruined me. A must read.

“The stone & the star”

For it being a novella, it was ok. I liked the spice and that’s pretty much it.

This review is for one story in the anthology - The Stone and the Star by Jillian Graves

2 stars

I love the idea of Graves' "Strange" universe and will always pick up a book set there, but I'm not a fan of this short story. The relationship is completely built on sex, with nary a moment of emotional intimacy between the characters, and as a result the happily ever after feels unearned. The bones of a good story are here, but it needs less set up (aka fewer pottery details) and more emotional connection to win me over.
