Memories of Santorini

Rate this book
There’s magic on Santorini, beneath the beautiful bougainvillea, under the blue domes, and in the enticing Aegean Sea.

Angela Walker spent three glorious weeks on Santorini after she graduated from college. Three weeks that changed her life forever. Thirty years later, it’s time to go back to that beautiful island and the warm blue sea, the only place where she was ever completely happy.

Thirty years ago, Xandros Daskalakis fell in love with a summer girl who came to his beloved island. When Angela had to return home, they agreed they’d meet in one year, and he believed he’d spend the rest of his life with her. But Angela never returned. Not for thirty years.

Now she’s back. And she’s brought her daughter with her. Suddenly they all have questions that could cause an eruption massive enough to destroy their lives. Or bring them the happiness they lost so long ago.

Take a holiday to the gorgeous Greek Isles and feel the magic for yourself in this later in life, second chance romance.

Not a second chance at love romance, but a reunion with a love that has lasted thirty years. Angela Walker has been divorced, from her controlling husband, for the past year. She has secrets, who doesn’t, but she needs to find a way to talk, maybe confess to her daughter. She realizes that her daughter, Sienna, has felt disconnected from her and her father so she asks her to travel with her to Santorini, the beginning of everything. Slowly, Sienna, begins to question the reason her father is so determined for her to work for his firm. When the job she really wants falls through, how will she handle his deceit, once again. Returning to Santorini, Angela never expected to see Xandros Dakalakis again. He was the first and only love of her life, but thirty years have passed since she was to meet him at their café. Seeing him, she is stunned. Can they let go of the past and savor the love they once shared? Can Sienna forgive her mother for mistakes and decisions that were not always her choice? Absolutely beautiful and emotional. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation, from the author, for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Just an awesomely good read. Angela Walker, 22 years, just graduated university, though engaged to be married to someone she's not crazy about decides to go to the beautiful island Santorini in the Aegean Sea. There she falls in love with her travel guide a 6'3" Xandros and they spend the time together making love on the beach, in his small cozy rooms and everywhere not being able to get enough of each other. At the end of 3 weeks Angela promises to returenn in one year to their cafe after she has time to disengage from her fiancee. Of course, it never happens because her domineering Italian momma talks her out of the silly idea of marrying a beach bum versus a wealthy elite. The next 30 years is a heartbreaker for Angela as she learns she is married to a controlling, manipulative, devious monster who turns her son and daughter against her. After he divorces her for a younger woman she returns to Santorini with her daughter hoping to re-bond with Sienna and on the slight chance that she might see her lover, Xandros. This is a poignant, nostalgic, yet also sensuously steamy romance beautifully told and a joy to read. Received this arc and have voluntarily reviewed.

MEMORIES OF SANTORINI is book 6 in the Once Again series by Jennifer Skully.

If you love exotic locales, this book has it all—the magic of the Greek Isle of Santorini, the Aegean Sea, and tiny towns built into the cliff with bougainvillea climbing the walls.

Angela Walker returns to Santorini thirty years after her first trip where she fell in love with Xandros Daskalakis. Those three weeks changed her life forever when she came home pregnant with his child, but instead of returning to tell him, she married another man.

Now Angela's returned to Santorini with her daughter and meets up with Xandros again. They rekindle their love, but the lie that Angela has kept for the last thirty years is about to destroy her future with Xandros.

The love story between Angela and Xandros kept me turning the pages and up late reading it. I highly recommend this book!

I loved this book. At first, it did go a little slow. I felt for Angela and her terrible ex husband. Hated how he caused a rift in her relationships with her children. Loved when she and her daughter Sienna went to faction in Santorini. Loved how they both had romances there, that Angela got a second chance with Xandros. There’s some heartbreak as Sienna finds out her Mom’s secret. So happy everyone got a happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I recommend this book.

Still loving this Series, the stories are really deep and get on down below the surface and to the Heart of some real life-like matters. Very touching story and heartfelt romance that kept me glued to the pages. Love Angela, her strength is admirable and the rekindling of her first true love had the perfect timing, gotta love Xandros bold, patient, upfront and compassionate. Love that the characters are mature and enjoyed this captivating plot with a steady progression as revelations unfold. I received a free copy and voluntarily chose to leave this review.

Great travelogue and story

Jennifer Skully has a wonderful ability to be able to bring heartfelt passion to the page. The male characters are ones any woman would die for. But as emotional as the story is, and with two deeply felt love stories developing. It is Santorini who is the real star. The island's attractions punctuate the human drama and provide a scenic and history laden backdrop to love. Highly recommend.

This was book 6 in the Once Again series by Skully, and I loved it like the rest of them! Angela is returning to the island after falling in love 30 years ago, and she’s bringing her daughter, the result of that precious visit. Little does she know she will see her lover, Xandros, and all the feelings return for both. But her daughter is estranged as she blames her mother for wrongs actually committed by the man she thought was her father. Lots to unpack in this delightful read

This was a very cute storyline with Angela, Sienna, Xandros, Carter and Donald. I’m glad that I pictured this storyline going one way (which I wasn’t a fan of), but instead it took another turn. Knowing how this author writes, I knew there would be a happily ever ending, but it was still sweet to read. I was waiting for more drama and plot twists, but sometimes having it simple is good enough too.

NOOOOOO. DONT END! Not yet!

Where is the Sequel? This story must continue - A beach bum, an almost married American woman, and the blue tile roofs of Santorini. What a recipe!!!

🌅Great setting for a second chance at romance🌞

4.5🌟 stars
I am a pushover when it comes to good second chance romances (probably my favorite romance trope) and this latest in Jennifer Skully's Once Again series I thoroughly enjoyed. It has a lot of pluses, including:

- the Greek setting
- lead characters in their 50's
- a love that lasts for decades
- a secret that needs airing
- a mother-daughter conflict
- an unexpected second chance at love and strengthening ties with family, and
- a really creepy, manipulative ex-husband who steals the prize for egotism and lack of compassion.

It's a story that totally captured my interest; I really liked the two leads; and the travelogue portion of the book was just enough to set the stage without getting too detailed. The talk of Greek food and drink had my mouth watering. And though female lead Angela's daughter Sienna enters the story as judgmental, career-obsessed and totally uninterested in a relationship with her mother, as the plot progresses her own story added a lot to the emotional content.

The romancing has some heat to it but isn't excessive and it's integral to the well-crafted story.

I've read every book in this series that has taken me to some gorgeous European locales with mature couples who get their HEAs. Can't wait to see where the next in the series takes me!

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

For a 30 year old, Sienna was exceptionally immature and selfish, but she did wake up and grow. Who knew??? Matthew was so mature and accepting. Donald, the ex, was a shrewd soulless manipulator and bully. Beyond despicable! I loved how Angela and Xandros just picked up where they left off like it was all meant to be. Their story was like a true life fairytale romance with all the feels. The epilogue is the icing on a beautiful emotional cake! This series is fire!!
