I've read shitloads and I mean shitloads of biker books to the point that I've lost count, this is giving me something extra that others haven't, and that's the friends to lovers aspect, I love books like this, but their road isn't an easy road travelled..Its a dark, gritty filled angst read with one twisted mother f*cker of an ex..

Oh My Down-Under God. There is nothing I like better than a good L-O-N-G read. Except finding a new author. Or a sexy MC book. Or epic multi-character tale. And it is all those things rolled into one book...all the better. And when that books says #1.....that means there is going to be a book 2! Heaven. I'm in heaven.

First things first: this book is extremely graphic. The sexual and physical assault is not for the faint of heart. I’ve never read a more suffered heroine. Honestly.
There were things that I liked about Lainie, such as her perseverance and strength but there were things about her that frustrated me as well. Mik started out strong but felt like a different character by the time the book was completed.
The plot was interesting even as it was graphic. I’m curious about the secondary characters but I’m unsure as to whether I can handle the next couple.

This book starts in the present day when Lainey (Madelaine, Maddi, Princess) is kidnapped from the house she shares with her fiancé Mik (Mikhail, Mad Dog) it then switches between the past and present so we understand what's happening, it's told mainly but not exclusively from Lainey's POV.
This is a dark read, the treatment Lainey suffers at the hands of Brendan is horrific and it's a wonder she's able to continue living a relatively normal life.
I have very mixed feelings about this book, there's a lot here to like, it's a nice long read, there's a lot happening, I liked a lot of the characters Mik and Timber in particular.
But.....
Lainey annoyed me. There I've said it, I feel mean because she suffers a lot but I just didn't like her and I did try.
Also so much if this could have been avoided, I'm sorry but if you have a whole MC behind you including your father as president you'd use them and this was a major stumbling block for me because we're told Lainey is strong and intelligent but sticking her head in the sand and ignoring the problem isn't going to help anyone and it didn't really seem her style.
It's also a pet hate of mine when conversations are differed, we'll talk later, I just need to sort it out, I can't talk now. You know what I mean and it happens a lot in this book.
And don't get me started on the problem within the club.
I can understand why most people really like this book it just wasn't really for me.

Definitely, a new spin on all of the MC series I've come across, Seizing Control was out of the box, addictive, and mind boggling!!
It's more than a typical biker read, that's for sure, and it stems much further than a romance and finding a HEA.
What worked for me was that the main girl was not a doormat and is accustomed to the ins and outs of the MC world...
Not to mention, the main guy is a total alpha male who will go to the ends of the earth to protect his girl. *Such total book boyfriend material, I tell you*.
!HOWEVER...!
For those of you who react distressed to sensitive matters and situations, just a heads up. There is violence, there are acts of non-consentual relations that may hit a hard limit for some... If you don't jive with that sort of thing than maybe this read is not for you.
Not that my kind gesture of warning is now over...
A great over all, first installment for newbie author, Kylie Hillman.
Ms. Hillman is certainly an author to be on the lookout for as she writes with a raw, passion, and grit that will have you sizzling on all cylinders.
I was at a toss up as to what was going to happen next, as some of what transcribed was so unexpected that it kept me guessing.
I will be on pins and needles for sure, for bk2!!

Seizing Control was the first book in the Shamrocks MC series by Kylie Hillman.
Very dark. Tons of triggers. Told from a double POV going back and forth between past and present to tell the full story. Once it merged with the present, it stayed in the present for the future. In the end, I wanted more happy. I’m ok with dark, but I needed more happy to balance the dark.
For those that like dark and don’t mind less happy, then you’ll love this one. It was well written and well developed, just not my favorite. With that said, there was a suspenseful MC plot that will carry through the series, so it may worth pursuing more.

It's aggressive, dark, passionate, violent, dramatic and suspenseful. So, if you like the dark and wild side of the MC life, I strongly recommend this new series to you. I knew beforehand that this was dark and rough so I want to warn you to be prepared to meet a vicious ex-boyfriend that won't take a NO for an answer, even if that has cost him his freedom before.
Phew, I didn't know this was going to be a roller-coaster of emotions. There is the drama, violence, rage, suspense, angst, the crying, getting mad, but in the other hand, shows strength, perseverance, hope and faith. This is also a story of true love, family, and trust.
The story-line is well written, and the plot amazingly developed. All love all the characters, and the way they interacted in every situation. I was hating our nasty villain more and more each time he open his mouth as if he was right in front of me; but I have to confess that there were times I wanted to strangle our heroine Laine and her fiance Mik for their stubbornness. Nonetheless, I always understood the why of their actions or decisions.
I'm sorry, but I don't do spoilers. I hate it when people mention main things about the plot and spoil it for me, that's why I tried not to make the same mistakes. The main topic is about rape and abuse, but also of survival and overcoming the worse of the situations, that's all I'm telling you.
Not only is there a ton of drama and suspense, but there is some pretty passionate scenes. Laine and Mik are hot when they're together. I also love the fact, that this was a relationship that was built over time, and not overnight.
I'm becoming a sucker for MC stories, and I can't wait for the next installment. With Seizing Control I was engrossed into the story and couldn't put my tablet down.
ANOTHER AWESOME FACT, IS THAT THIS CAN BE READ AS STAND-ALONE. THERE ARE NO CLIFFHANGERS, WHAT SO EVER, JUST THE THIRST OF WANTING TO KNOW MORE FROM THE OTHER CHARACTERS.

Oh my bloody hell!!
I couldn't have found a better dark MC read even if I tried. My emotions have gone past the point of being sane over characters and their story, and gone straight to ADDICTIVE!
I could not for the life of me put this one down. It just wasn't happening. I really did try. I mean, it's a long read which can either mean I'd be having a tough time getting through if it wasn't my cup of tea.
OR.
I would be so possessed by it that NOTHING could stop me from getting through to that last word. And I am pretty sure you know which one of those choices (that should never really exist in the same category) I would go with..?! ;)
SEIZING CONTROL is a story about Lainey and Mik. But it's not JUST that. It's well beyond a story that will have you craving for the next page like you would crave that tattooed, sexy as sin, tall as hell, all round bad biker from across the street. Yup. I'm not taking that back..
Soooo it goes without saying that I would naturally fall for Mik, the VP of a MC that would literally have you drooling at the mere thought of how he looks like.. let alone what comes out of his mouth. Cue the wild imagination about everything and anything that comes with his mouth.. Sigh.. *ahem*.
Trying to get my head out of the gutter seems to be harder than I anticipated, but I'll give it my best!
Lainey has been through so bloody much that I am always surprised how she can keep herself together. Through the toughest and most raw and cruel of moments, her mind is still attached. Damaged beyond repair yes but it's still there. Her heart has broken into a million pieces but she still has more to give. And her soul might be tainted with someone's idea of nightmares, but she is still so damn strong.
I loved her character!! She is honestly the true example of a girl that exudes strength even without trying. Lainey still has Mik there, to help her and protect her, BUT she is still as strong as nobody would ever dare believe considering what she went through AND what she is going through...
My heart broke so many times.. I couldn't keep my eyes from clouding over and the thought of having to endure this heartache throughout the rest of the story? A hit on my soul but IT. WAS. WORTH. EVERY. SECOND.
Mik comes into the story as the guy (speaking from my POV although I don't I can't be the only one..?!) who would be every insane girls dream. He is the power force that drives his MC. Not only that but he has so much to give, he has been through an even darker past that could be possible, yet he is still putting someone else ahead of his own needs. Her. Lainey.
Mik was her first love and he knows that SHE. BELONGS. TO. HIM. Her heart is his just as much as his heart belongs to her. He makes it abundantly clear that Lainey will only ever be HIS LAINEY... I know most might see this as just another "She's my property" part of an MC based book, and to be honest I always loved that part, but with SEIZING CONTROL, it has that chilling undertone to it. When he admits it, it just made my heart race with adrenaline at the though of Mik doing EVERYTHING in his messed up soul to protect her.
In few words, I inhaled their chemistry and love for each other. I just LOVED how much they shows their love for each other. Yes that's cheesy as hell but frankly, I don't give a damn!

It's a sexy read with a very dark element to it. It's rawness in many scenes and character narration pulls at the boundaries that would make any other dark romance novel a simple book.
With Mik trying to keep her safe but also have everything go smoothly with his own club, Lainey is trying to battle with her past that always seems to make it's unwelcome way into her present. It even borders the line of capturing her future. She is near her breaking point and for good reason, but we see how she goes through that and slowly steers into a different road. A different road that giving up but will it be a better one?
Every other character in this story is just an icing on the already perfectly mouthwatering Mik *cough* I mean cake. Yes. I definitely meant Cake...
This story has my whole soul. It broke my heart over and over again and it took my soul and has yet to give it back. But like I said, It was all worth it. BUT lord only knows how I would survive Book 2. Jesus. Bloody. Hell. Kylie Hillman please have some mercy on out long lost sanity?

I couldn't have found a better dark MC read even if I tried. My emotions have gone past the point of being sane over characters and their story, and gone straight to ADDICTIVE!
I could not for the life of me put this one down. It just wasn't happening. I really did try. I mean, it's a long read which can either mean I'd be having a tough time getting through if it wasn't my cup of tea.
OR.
I would be so possessed by it that NOTHING could stop me from getting through to that last word. And I am pretty sure you know which one of those choices (that should never really exist in the same category) I would go with..?! ;)

All I can say is wow. Seizing Control is emotional, gritty, laden with heavy content and has one of the strongest heroines I've read about in an MC novel. It's different than the usual MC novel in that the focus of the story is Maddi who is the daughter of an MC President. You see some MC action however the focal point of the story is her experience with domestic violence, overcoming the demons that particular awfulness brings a person and then years later experiencing another trauma and overcoming that as well. This book is written in dual POV which I enjoy and does transition from the past to the present. This enhances the story and your ability to understand Maddi and everything she's been through. It's an intense read however it's a great debut by Kylie. Please note that if abuse, rape or violence of any kind are triggers for you, you may want to think twice about this book. This ends in a good for now situation, not a cliffhanger but not necessarily a happily ever after either. Awesome addition to the MC romance genre.

SPOILERS GALORE
Well color me impressed. I've never read this author before, but I plan on one clicking another of her books as soon as I'm done with this review.
My favorite character was Mik. I absolutely loved him (until his very dumb decision at the end that I'll speak on later). He's everything you want a book boyfriend to be. Strong, dominant, protective, and scary but sweet as can be with you.
Although Lainey never quite felt she was good enough for him, he worshiped the ground she walked on and didn't care who knew it.
Lainey, I equally loved and rolled my eyes at her. She was strong for surviving all that she'd been and was going through. To break that down... at 18 she got involved with the town manwhore, Brendan, and was so flattered with his attention that she ignored some very obvious signs that he was controlling and violent.
Mik was her best friend at the time and evoked Brendan's jealousy the most. She had all but decided to break up with Brendan after his latest explosion at her birthday party. She goes off with Mik and after confessing their feelings for one another, she loses her virginity to him. When they get back to the party, Brendan and Mik fight, but Lainey decides she simply must take a very drunk Brendan home and break up with him for good. Eyes rolling hard. He rapes her in the back of his truck. This was a heartbreaking scene to read, but the worst was yet to come.
Brendan then blackmails her with pics of her brother doing drugs to keep her with him. Mik thinks Lainey has chosen Brendan over him and brokenhearted, leaves her alone. Brendan continues raping her and slowly starts controlling every aspect of Lainey's life. Her brother notices and tells Mik that he thinks Brendan has something over Lainey, so Mik starts being a part of Lainey's life again so he can help her. Lainey finally comes around to asking for help, but it has to wait until Mik and her brother return from a trip. Rolling eyes again.
Brendan brutally rapes and beats her that night. He breaks various bones and even knowing Lainey is alive years later, I was still wringing my hands during this scene, thinking he was going to kill her. I was tearing up while reading. As she's blacking out, Mik and her brother come and save her from the psycho. Long story short, he pleads guilty to assault (she doesn't tell anyone about the rape at this point) and goes to jail for 2 years.
Fast forward, Lainey and Mik are engaged and she's rebuilt her life. Them together..... OMG. So cute. He was everything she needed to recover from what happened. He was patient and gave her safety. Oh, and some really good sex.
Literally, the day Brendan gets off parole he pays some guys to kidnap Lainey and bring her to him. Mik eventually gets the other bikers together to save her, but not before Lainey is almost raped like 3 times and badly beaten. She manages to cuff Brendan to the bed and shoots him in the thigh, but leaves him alive for Mik and her father to handle. Rolls eyes. He would've been a goner. Bump letting papa end things.
She escapes out a window, but when Mik and the boys search the house, Brendan is gone. While Lainey is recovering, they search for him. When they finally find him, her dad is busy being pissed at Mik for some unknown reason. They all go to take care of Brendan, and somehow in the mist of when they should be putting a bunch of bullets in Brendan, it comes out that Mik inadvertently played a part in Lainey's brothers drug use. She gets so upset and feels he's now partially responsible for Brendan raping and blackmailing her. Rolls eyes the hardest.
I just wanted to strangle her for pages for being angry at Mik over this. Brendan was a demented pyscho. He was going to rape you and torture you no matter what because that's just who he was. WTF did Mik have to do with that? I just didn't get it.
Anyway, when that stupid argument and Mik'sunneccesary groveling was over, they can't kill Brendan because the people he's working with have now kidnapped Lainey's younger brother Joel. So they have to free him to get Joel back. Ughh. Joel is returned with 2 gunshots to the stomach and rushed to surgery. He makes it through, but now Brendan is on the loose again. Lainey is questioning everything about her relationship with Mik, I'm rolling my eyes, and the club is in upheaval. Mik finally gains Lainey's forgiveness, but then he has to send her away while he finds out if there's a rat in the club and to protect her. Have we learned nothing from the fact that Lainey isn't safe with you not around? I guess not because she goes home with 2 enforcers and Mik goes to play detective. He finds the rat just as Brendan's plans are coming together and the club Brendan is working with helps to get him to Lainey again. Sadly this time, he succeeds in raping her again, but she manages to get a gun and, smartly, this time she aims for the chest and finishes things. Mik gets there and takes her back to the clubhouse. Anddddd breaks up with her 2 days later. Why? You guessed it... she's better off without him. He can't protect her. She deserves better.
I wanted to smack the crap out of him (this was the decision I spoke off in the beginning of my review obviously). How could he? Especially after what she just went through. Of course in her mind, she felt he'd finally had enough of her 'damaged goods'. It was sad and infuriating to read about him breaking her heart for no reason. At the very end, they get back together, but are going to take things very slow. WHAT??? Get married already. Lol
On a last note, I really respected the way the author handled the feelings Lainey had after her rape and even after being beaten. The self-blaming, the guilt over how you could've changed this or that, and so on. It was very realistic.

I gave this book 3 stars because I finished it, which means I liked it, but I'm not sure I ever felt completely invested in the characters. If it makes any sense at all, I felt like I was 'watching' this book like a movie, and not really living in the story. Somehow it all felt a bit distanced.
Part of my early problems with the story involved the flashback style used to show what happened to Lainy 4 years ago with the ex who (as this story starts) has just got out of jail. Now this ex has captured Lainy, and Lainy's finance (Mik) and the biker club are trying to get her back. I was much more interested in the present story about saving Lainy, than in the regular flashbacks to events from earlier years with Brendan, Lainy and Mik.
I admit the violence rocked me early in the story, which is my failing not the author's. There is a clear warning before the story starts about the violence to be expected in the book, and heck - I was a big fan of Sons of Anarchy. I know outlaw bikers aren't angels.
My favourite characters really weren't either of the leads in this. I found Lainy all over the place in what she wants from life, from her family, and from Mik.
I liked Timber and Wendy best, and book 2 is about Timber and the nurse, which will probably give me all the feels from my SOA episodes with Charlie Hunnam (Jax) and Tara... I bought Book 2, but that might have to wait for a while. Right now, I need a break with something a little sweeter.

Madeline O’Brien is the only daughter to Patrick, the President of the Black Shamrocks MC, with four brothers and a deceased mother. After her mother died, Madeline took over the caring roll for her brothers, since one was her twin and the other three were all younger. All the men in her family and the MC protective over her and some were even overprotective.
But her first boyfriend somehow slipped by all of their defenses. They knew something was off, because of his jealousy and developing extreme possessiveness over Madeline. They had a decent start that led into somewhat of a rocky relationship and then completely went bad. The type of bad that would have left a weaker woman irreparably damaged and broken.
But there had been one man who had always loved Madeline, who was there for her and helped her heal and begin to trust not only her own judgement, but trust a man again as well. Mik “Mad Dog” Kennedy is older than Madeline by about 7 years and is the son of the former MC president and currently the VP. He would do anything for Madeline, would protect her with his life and is as Alpha as they come.
But just because ghosts are in the past, doesn’t mean they stay dead and gone. This may be what it takes to finally break them, or it’s what will finally put it in the rearview mirror for good.
There is also plenty of MC action. We learn about the roles the characters play and the history in the clubhouse. For me it was a little crazy for Irish named club to be located in Australia and how the characters were all named and kept naming their kids with Irish names. But the Irish connection is explained. It may be that there is a large population of people with Irish Ancestry in that part of Australia, just as there is in Boston & NYC.
I really liked this book. The action was intense for both the personal & relationship aspect for Mik & Madeline and action within and from the MC as well. There were times when I was annoyed by one aspect or another, but that’s with all books.
The author did state that this series will play out over 5 books, so there isn’t technically and HEA, but the books will end with an HFN, happy for now. The second book is already out and the third book will be out in March 2016.

Hmmmm…..Where do I start??
First, I liked the book. I really did. There were times that I was biting my nails from the suspense…..BUT, there were times that I was rolling my eyes as well from the ridiculousness of some of the statements and scenes.
For instance, one of my biggest pet peeves in a book is when the heroine is described as pretty much the most beautiful girl in the world. It especially irritates me when Lainey describes herself that way.
“I’m kind of naturally sexy looking and slightly Barbie-like”
This line literally made me cringe.
There were just as many goods that outweighed the bad though. I loved Mik. I’m not sure if I liked how the book started out not really knowing where he fit in but it all fell into place.
As much as I loathed Brenden…he brought the suspense.
All together this was a good book. I enjoyed it enough that I will probably read more in the series.

First, I liked the book. I really did. There were times that I was biting my nails from the suspense…..BUT, there were times that I was rolling my eyes as well from the ridiculousness of some of the statements and scenes.
For instance, one of my biggest pet peeves in a book is when the heroine is described as pretty much the most beautiful girl in the world. It especially irritates me when Lainey describes herself that way.
“I’m kind of naturally sexy looking and slightly Barbie-like”
This line literally made me cringe.
There were just as many goods that outweighed the bad though. I loved Mik. I’m not sure if I liked how the book started out not really knowing where he fit in but it all fell into place.
As much as I loathed Brenden…he brought the suspense.
All together this was a good book. I enjoyed it enough that I will probably read more in the series.

Well my goodness, what a ride I've just been on!!! Kylie Hillman sure did come out of the gates with a Fantastic first book!!! The emotional ride I just endured typically comes from authors who have several other books under their belt.
This book is full of every emotion possible. The story flows perfectly. But be warned, if you have triggers...there are plenty in this book! Although written very well and you will feel everything, be warned.... This is not a fluffy romance book!

I'm debating between 3.5 or 4 stars.
Madeline O'brien is MC club -Black Shamrocks President's daughter. Her brothers and uncles are part of the club . She's a Royal Princess and when a local good looking boy comes a calling, she agrees to go on a date with Brendan. Herein starts a tale of terror. He is over the top controlling, jealous , abusive boyfriend and though she finds solace with her childhood friend , Mikhail Kennedy, she doesn't break up with Brendan. A very costly mistake that almost takes her life, her dignity, her family, her love . Everything because Brendan holds her hostage to his throat choking love .
story is good. It's grisly world of Motorcycle World . Very gruesome and graphic violence and abuse.
The characters though are not clearly defined. They have contradicting personalities. Maddie is strong, since childhood, having lost her mother at a very early age, she takes care of her 4 brothers. Her dad protects her, so do her brothers, she's safely esconsed in a fiercely locked up environment of MC . Her family is aggressive and so she's pretty confidant, Sassy, and fierce. YET, she succumbs to Severe Beatings from her boyfriend!!! Why ? And this is BEFORE the back mail. She brushes aside his stalking, his claustrophobic possessiveness, his blinding jealousy.
Mik is strong, powerful, all alpha male. He and Benji SEE where Brendan is leading Maddie, YET they let it happen.
She's beaten, raped, abused, mercilessly, YET NOBODY can see it. Not Mik, not Daddy,Not four Brothers, Not stepmother, who's very loving btw !!!
Mik Feels truly guilty of not protecting her, YET Daddy being the powerful Prez , failed too !. Why doesn't he beat up Brendan?. Why didn't Benji protect his sister.?
The details of how Brendan landed in jail are not touched upon much. Fair enough ! But despite all the security and Maddie taking self protection classes, Brendan easily abduct her. Raping and beating her within an inch of her life.....again !
Why doesn't she kill him ? . She already fires at his leg, why not finish him ?
and YET the end is so simple...huh !!!
the rest of the story too oscillates between - I love you so much, I can't live without you AND I couldn't protect you , you lied to me , let's break up!. For characters mature enough to kill and maim, it's pretty weak quality.
The whole love him hate him see-saw broke the flow.
I'll read the next book and see if the story follows a vein or just scatters into several streams.

The Black Shamrocks MC along with four blood brothers hold the only daughter of the clubs President under their wing after the nightmare she has lived. Madelaine O'Brien is a survivor but she is tired of looking over her should. Mik keeps her safe along with her father, brothers and the club. Switching her phone on she sees she has missed numerous text and calls from her fiancé and choosing to ignore them wasn’t the smartest thing she has done. Mik Mad Dog Kennedy is going to have her ass for this. It took he and Laney a lifetime of getting to where they are. They were always best friends but when her 18th birthday rolled around it became the best and worst day of her life. It was the day her nightmare really began. Mik has protected her since her life turned upside down but the past is about to find her and take her away again.
Mik blames himself for not seeing what he should have earlier. He will never let Laney be hurt again however Mik finds out you cant protect a person from the devil or the demons that lie inside once you climb out of the dark.
There was a very dark story with some rough scenes if you aren’t used to some graphic descriptions of violence. However the issue for me was not the nitty gritty scenes – it was the length of the story and then not feeling like there was a true ending or at least a calm to their story and their was a lot of story on these pages. There was too much going on and I also was frustrated when Mik didn’t seem more anxious at times to do what he needed to do. (That’s about it without giving spoilers).
This was not a bad read it just wasn’t the normal MC speed for me. I loved the secondary characters – and I hope to see from them along with some resolution between Laney and Mik included in those next releases.

Mikhail hero yang badass, kuat, posesive dan loveable. Lainey gadis pejuang tanpa akhir yang survive dari banyak cobaan, tipe heroine kickass super langka di novel-novel yang bisa menyelamatkan dirinya sendiri. Brendan, charming delusional over protective villain yang hotter than Hell. Dan banyak karakter pendukung yang menarik.
Jangan lupakan twist-twist kejutan yang dijamin akan membuatmu larut makin dalam di konflik internal MC yang tidak seseserhana yang kau bayangkan di awal buku. Dan untuk steamy scene, yah pastikan saja remote AC mu ready untuk mendinginkan suasana. Kalau kau perhatikan rating 4 untuk bikini rate sangat jarang aku munculkan. LOL..
Sedikit issue yang menggangguku adalah di epilog buku ini. Chapter terakhir ini bisa ditutup dengan good happy ending. Sederhana tapi akan sangat menyentuh. Epilog dengan tambahan twist yang justru menunjukan ketidak konsistenan dengan sifat karakter Mik. Dan memberikan plot hole baru yang seharusnya tidak perlu diciptakan.
Novel debut tema MC yang sangat menjanjikan, light dark, informatif, dan super seksi.

This is the first book from Kylie Hillman and she has done really good with it. The story is centred around Laine, the daughter of the president of Black Shamrocks MC. The first few chapters of this book had me a little confused as it starts off four years after an incident that turned Lanie's life upside down and also the people around her. She now has to deal with her ex and all the trouble he has caused and will cause again but to also try and stay strong for herself and her family. The writing of this book is past and present but on each chapter it tells you where you are and which character the part is about, most of it is Lanie's POV but there's also some from Mad Dog (Mik).
Mik is the VP of the MC and long time friend and Laniey's fiancée, he's a hard man but loyal to both the club and to Lanie, however a few things happen that really make you think!
Then you have Brendon who is the ex and let me tell you he really is a piece of work that you go though the whole book wanting to beat the hell out of for what he does.
You meet the other main people in the family and MC in this books such as Beast (prez and dad to Lanie), Benji is her brother by blood and Timber (A MC brother). These are the other characters that stood out throughout the book. There's also Lanie's other blood brother but I won't be saying who that is as it can ruin part of the story for readers.
I feel the story line was good however everything did seem to happen within the last 30% of the book. There are twists within the book that make you think that there will be others to follow. Also it's not a typical HEA but also not a cliffhanger.

This book is dark read and contains scenes that may disturb some readers so please read the Blurb.

Don't worry it's not all doom and gloom!! The consensual sex scenes are wicked HOT!!! and the characters are lovable.
You can read this book as a stand alone but I am sure that once read it, you will want to read the next in the series just like me......

This is a brilliant well written debut novel. I sat and read it in one afternoon as I couldn't put it down until I'd finished.

Lainey and Mic have grown up together. They are now madly in love and engaged. When Laineys past comes back to haunt her will their relationship be strong enough to survive??
If your like me and you love MC reads and dark stories then you will love this book. It's dark, gritty and raw. A brilliant dark romance.

This book is full of savage acts and angst. It definitely threw me some surprises. I always love a gritty story especially in the rough world of motorcycle clubs and this does not disappoint. Mik and Lainey have to fight through some serious demons and trauma to find a place for themselves. It was painful at times.
I am almost always a woman's woman. I am an avid cheerleader to the female leads in all my romances. I give a big hooray when love wins, but I had a real struggle with the heroine in this book. I did have great compassion for all the abuse she endured but I really struggled with her harebrained decisions. Maybe I am just an older woman wanting a teenager to make better choices.
Anyway, I did enjoy this book and I'm hopeful for a wonderful series. This author was fearless and did depict the brutal world of an outlaw MC quite well.

This is the Story of Lainey and Mik. Lainey is the daughter of The Black Shamrock's MC president and sister to 4 brothers. Due to her mother dying young Lainey took over the role as mother of the family after her Dad couldn't cope with her death. Mik is her lifelong best friend as she has known him forever, him being the Son of the former President who stepped down due to illness.
The Story starts with Lainey attending Law School and trying to finish her exams. Shes young and inexperienced with boys due to her overprotective twin brother and dad running off any potential boyfriends. Mik is the clubs SAA and is enjoying the biker life of thrills and easy girls. They're still best friends and Lainey is looking forward to her future attending college. She attends a new years eve party with friends and encounters the towns most eligible bachelor Brendon. He immediately takes to her and asks permission from her dad to date her. The story goes from here.
First off i will put a warning. This book is pretty dark. I wasn't aware before i read it that this book contains scenes of rape and extreme violence. Please be aware though that the heroine is no victim and is actually pretty kick ass.
I really enjoyed the storyline even though it is darker than i usually read. There is a pretty fast paced storyline that will keep you gripped to the very end. I loved the relationship between Lainey and Mik and because we got a bit of a backstory of them knowing each other forever it wasn't insta-love it was grown over time and throughout the book. There are also some other great characters i am looking forward to hearing about in future books which were developed well without detracting from the main characters. Lainey and Mik do get pretty heated and gave a huge phew factor in the hotness scale.
There are a few times in the book when i felt a little uncomfortable with what was going on but i found these scenes were written really well and didn't make me feel yuk but just made me feel anxious and heartbroken for the character, and also a real hatred for the bad guy. Also the follow up to these scenes were written sympathetically and not just glossed over.
I have given the book 4 stars only detracting the 1 star because i wasn't too happy with the ending it was ok but not what i would have liked. That's maybe a personal thing because i wanted everything rosey and it didn't quite work out like that. But then maybe with it being a darker book rosy doesn't happen but i'm sure we'll see more of Lainey and Mik in future books and i may get the ending i want. I felt it let the book down slightly but was still enjoyable none the less.
Overall i would say i really enjoyed this book and with Kylie being a new author i'm really impressed with the story and the writing. I will absolutely be getting book 2.
I would recommend this book to lovers of the darker read.

OMG I loved this book!! I actually found it as a teaser in the back of Brawl and HAD TO HAVE IT.
Now WARNING there are rape scenes. Usually they fade to black and let you figure out what happens and then I am imagining ever worse things. So yes they are brutal and gut wrenching but for me it makes this story come together in my mind. No I am not weird, I know this is FICTIONAL. But yes it can be a trigger for some people so hence the WARNING.
Now on to this awesome MC book. We kind of get Madelaine O'Brien from teenage up and all her struggles with having brothers but also a MC President for a father. Mik; Oh my man Mik, he was her protector first until she great in to a young women then he saw her as a man. Watching her with someone else wasn’t easy for him but he held his tongue still he couldn’t any more.

The bond these two share is beautiful to read and to watch grow even through all the struggles. The trust and friendship is something to behold. I want more! I didn’t want this book to end not like it did.
I don’t know if I will read book 2, its Timber and yes I like him in this book but I am just not sure. I guess we will see.

OMG I loved this book!! I actually found it as a teaser in the back of Brawl and HAD TO HAVE IT.
Now WARNING there are rape scenes. Usually they fade to black and let you figure out what happens and then I am imagining ever worse things. So yes they are brutal and gut wrenching but for me it makes this story come together in my mind. No I am not weird, I know this is FICTIONAL. But yes it can be a trigger for some people so hence the WARNING.
Now on to this awesome MC book. We kind of get Madelaine O'Brien from teenage up and all her struggles with having brothers but also a MC President for a father. This book had me in fits from the very first chapter, and absolutely blew me away until the very last page. Kylie Hillman is a new author to me and she got me hook line and sinker with this one, and I can’t wait to read the next installment of this amazing MC series.
Madelaine is the epitome of a survivor, tough to the core, but how much can one woman take? Her story begins in the present day, surrounded by her MC family and the love of her life Mik. She’s finally in a place where she can say she’s happy and secure, until the demon from her past bears his claws, and plots to ruin her happily ever after.
We get a glimpse of Maddie’s past (4 yrs ago) when she’s first met Brendon, her now ex boyfriend, and the chaos and tragedy he causes to her and her family. She endures things that a weaker person would crumble to, and it literally left me wanting to throat punch this evil man with a knife!
The way her MC family rallies around her with support and protection is inspiring, and the way Mik loves her through everything, even when they don’t see eye to eye, is swoon worthy to say the least. God that man is sexy as hell, and currently has my heart! This definitely shows you the darker side to an MC, but also shows they’re a family and protects what’s theirs. I’m in LOVE with this series and want more NOW!
