It’s been a while since I’ve finished a bully-ish read. I liked it. I felt like it was missing something tho. Angst? Drama? oW/OM drama?? It’s weird that she just agrees to be his blow job dispensary so easily. I liked how jealous/possessive/protective he was. I was a little weirded out by his kink. Does he have all his bed buddies wear a kitty tail butt-plug? He seemed like it was old-hat to him… I prefer that kink be more organic to the couple and exclusive to their dynamic… not just some kink he’s acted out a million times that he then tries out on the h.

Bottom Line? Overall I enjoyed this book. I’d be willing to try more from this author.

⚠️SAFETY SQUAD SPOILERS⚠️

- no cheating or sharing
- no OW/OM drama
- dubcon-ish - she’s sort of coerced into bjs… but not really.
- condoms used
- H is 20 and experienced
- h is 18 and a virgin

Safety - the hero has known the heroine since she was 15 years old, then he was 17 years old. The book begins with the fact that the heroine is 18 years old and they have not seen each other for two years. From the POV of the hero, it is clear that he was with other girls before the book began. Everything else is completely safe.
Personally, I didn’t like the heroine, she clung too much to her independence, I don’t really like this in novels, also from young girls who did not take place in this life.
P/S The hero deprives the heroine of her virginity at the mark 95%. Before that, they have everything else, even anal sex. The heroine did not want the hero to deprive her of her virginity, she wanted to leave it to someone else, whom she would love in the future

"Still a virgin." He grinds against me, making my traitorous hips circle. "It's mine to take," he husks. "From now on, don't even look at another guy. No one touches you between your legs, Avery. Not even you."

Wow, this book is incredible. There's a bit of everything- forbidden love, spice that's out of this world, mystery and suspense! It had me captivated from beginning to end. Shane and Avery are stepsiblings who have quite the history. When Avery needs Shane's help, he makes a very indecent demand in return.

"You're everything. From the second I first set eyes on you." His mouth moves up to suck on my collarbone and then my neck. A soft groan tickles my ear. "You don't know."
"I do know," I whisper, my fingers stroking his back. "I love you, too."

I loved their story. Five stars. It's my first book by Marlee Wray but definitely not my last.

If you're into taboo relationships, dark new adult suspense romance, or books where the fmc asks her stepbrother for help and he says yes but only if she sucks him off once a day, everyday, until the end of the school semester, this may be for you.

Yeah, that proposition is actually on the table, and guess what? She accepts.

Avery is attending a university that is currently terrorized by a serial predator calling himself Casanova. He abducts girls that look just like her from campus and leaves a purple rose at the crime scene. Everyone is on alert and many women end up going home to be as far as possible from the school. Avery is determined to stay on campus because she has her sights set on an internship and her application is riding on doing well in her classes. She's unflappable, that is until she comes back to her dorm one night and finds a purple rose in her bed. Refusing to leave the school but hesitant to stay on her own, she seeks out her stepbrother Shane for protection. They have an estranged relationship but this forced proximity makes repressed feelings come to light and things get real hot and heavy.

I honestly could not put this down, it was so good! There's a number of things in play but I think it was all balanced well. Shane is a possessive alpha hero, Avery is an intelligent independent woman, and they have always had the hots for each other. Both characters are well developed and the overall story is intriguing and interesting. I thought the characters were mature in their reactions to what was happening, especially Shane. There's something that happens in the last 30% of the book and while you expect him to be remarkably toxic and aggressive, he exhibits a great amount of control, patience, and consideration for Avery despite his "I control the whole world" default mode.

There are some things mentioned and never addressed, and some unresolved issues, but considering this is only the first book in a series, I'm sure they'll be addressed in the latter books.

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When a dangerous stalker leaves their violet rose calling card, Avery reaches out to stepbrother Shane for protection. But protection comes at a cost, a personal cost of sexual favors. But is it a hardship to comply when you’re secretly attracted? This story recounts the blossoming of their relationship, history of resentment, and mystery surrounding the terror to the campus. Also, Avery’s mother, the issue and her caustic interaction with Shane.

This story waffled for me between some great plays of spice, and frustration. To be clear not a bad book. I liked the hero, who was so protective and clearly liked Avery even with having extorted the daily “payment.” The issue for me was the heroine’s hot and cold since clearly she was into Shane. Their romance had some undue push and pull when really Shane was a good guy, hot dirty talker, and always protective. They simply had a misunderstanding that could easily have worked out if for some communication, especially as they were so into each other.

In addition, the story felt as if it were trying to be dark with Irish mafia. Admittedly a nice subplot, but there was really no conflict, no tension other than sexual.  The spice was drawn out, delayed, withholding the “real act,” and felt like an unwarranted tease.

Overall, great sexual tension but lacked some spice. As the story played out, it was simply a matter of reaching its natural and expected conclusion.  I really liked Shane and the Irish mafia arc as well as the premise of the couple’s relationship — what was there to say no to — but experienced challenges to holding my interest.

This was twistier than I thought it would be and kept me guessing. I kept getting creepy vibes from who I thought for sure was the killer, but I was wrong and surprised. I love how Avery grew throughout the story and how her relationship with Shane unfolded. They were perfect for each other as soon as they were able to trust each other.
*enemies-to-lovers
*step-siblings who don’t meet until 15/17yo. Story starts when Avery is in her first year of college
*some dom/sub play
*mob connections, but not the main point of the book
*no OM/OW drama

Avery is at a college which has a unknown psychopath called Cassanova (who leaves lavender roses as his signature) on the loose kidnapping girls who are never seen again, and if that's not scary enough, she comes home to her dorm one night to find one of Cassanova's lavender roses on her bed. She has to pull up her big girl panties up & seek out her stepbrother, Shane (who hates her) for help no matter how he reacts. He's not exactly happy to see her & when she keeps at him for some protection, he demands a price which was just uncalled for but she has no choice. These two have a lot of heat, but it's hard to imprint on him at first with his questionable actions, but as these two spend time together, she's able to really talk to him about what happened in their past, and we get a different glimpse of the Shane who is easy to fall for. There are twists all over the place coming in hot as these two navigate this new reality so I was on the edge of my seat dropping all the f-bombs. I won't tell you anymore & trust me, there's a lot more since Marlee Wray penned a story with many layers, as you should just experience the wild ride with a big kicker of heat for yourselves! I CANNOT WAIT for more & HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Indecent Demands by Marlee Wray is the First book in the Dark Knights Series. This is the story of Shane and Avery. Avery and Shane are step brother / sister who have had a up and down relationship since meeting in their teens. Now Avery is off to college but their is a serial kidnapper/killer called Casanova on the loose. Casanova's calling card is a rose which one has been found on her bed. Scared but not wanting to leave collage and give up what she is working toward she swallows her pride and ask Shane for his help and protection. Shane will only do it for a price and this is pretty much to be at his beck and call when he 'wants her'. I can't wait to read more from this author and series.

Step sibling
Virgin FMc
Forced proximity
Posessive/ jealous MMC
Mystery very plot heavy
Slow burn

I love hot rich kids behaving badly and these two were so much fun to read about. When A kidnapper starts stalking Avery she runs to her stepbrother who she’s on the outs with and begs for help. He agrees to keeping an eye on her if she promises to get on her knees for him everyday. This was super plot heavy and I was so engrossed in their story. There’s a serial killer on the lose who happens to be stalking Avery, while she’s falling in love with her step bro. Not a crazy AMOUNT of spice but the spice was CRAZY hot

Marlee Wray’s stories guarantee the reader a good time and there is plenty to enjoy in this, the first of a new series.
Shane and Avery are step-siblings who at first get on very well. Two years older, Shane is aware that fifteen-year-old Avery has a crush on him, but he respects her age and fights his inclinations, until the 'incident' when she is sixteen. Now, having not spoken for two years, Avery is a freshman at the same university that Shane attends, a university where young women are going missing, abducted by 'Casanova'. When it appears he is targeting Avery, she turns to Shane for help. He agrees, with one demand.
Shane and Avery are both terrific characters; his change from a-hole to a young man harbouring more than brotherly love is totally believable, and Avery’s very-female switches from feisty to confused to anxious are equally well-drawn. The supporting characters have a fascination all their own, and there are links to Wray’s C-Crue tales as well. A bonus episode awaits for those who reach the end, which is also very enjoyable, and the relationship to the other series is made clear. I can barely wait for the next book!

2 stars for me

After reading so many good reviews I was sold…. However I feel rather disappointed, there was a strong story lineand it could have really evolved into something gripping but it was flat!
Potential spoilers

Firstly…Casanova…there was not enough information, nothing happened I kept expecting them to pop up or something dramatic to happen it it never came, he did nothing to avery as that part turns out it was someone else, so the whole point of Casanova was not really worth mentioning, avery mentions the girls that have gone missing look like her?? This leads no we’re!!

Secondly characters, I liked Shane and saw so much potential but at times found his “dominance” rather pathetic and cringy, he does nothing mafia related that could bring danger or excitement, so the whole tie to the mafia again didn’t need to happen as the book could have carried on as it was, without this been added in!

Avery was very immature and I just could not even remotely connect with her, she was a weak plain Jane character, a loner no friends no life nothing that sparks excitement it was as though she had no personality!

Thirdly the sex scenes…..god it’s just cringy and boring, the moments in which they choose to be intimate (which is 70% of the whole book)are just all wrong, bad timing and not well thought out, and the anal on a virgin what on earth was the thought process on that?? She clearly was reserved and he was more than aware so why lead there first actual sexy time with it! the whole relationship between them was just her been forced to sell herself… shane actively throughout the book expresses how he feels of her and what he thinks, so the fact he stooped low to force her to do that for protection just ruined his character for me! In a ideal world she literally could have moved back home and still continued as normal with school as her parents was beyond accommodating for her,so it made no real sense her even going to him!

Overall disappointing, the book felt not properly thought out and was rushed! Each event felt derailed and it was hard to keep on reading, I 100% believe the killerCasanova could be a great book/addition if planned throughly the plot was there but no real story :( however I never not finish a book and as This is my first ever book by Marlee I will read some more books of hers, and see if this is a common occurrence as it’s not put me off completely! just this series I won’t be reading!

Sorry if I’m brutal 🙈

Just a note I do read a lot of books all dark alpha male type steamy sex scenes etc so I’m not shy or offended by anything! This is my honest opinion

Great read!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1\2
Trope: step-brother
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥1\2

This was the first book I've read by this author and wasn't sure what to expect. I found it a bit difficult to connect at the beginning of the story, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I ended up really enjoying it. Loved the taboo step-brother trope and this one didn't disappoint with lots of drama from their past. Looking forward to reading the other books in the series!

An enemies-to-lovers, dark, college romance with a hint of Irish Mafia thrown in for good measure.

Two years after a massive fall-out with her step-brother, Shane, Avery seeks him out at their college campus when she is targeted by the campus killer, Casanova. With his reputation and the kind of influence he exerts, Avery knows that Shane is the only one who can protect her. Shane, on the other hand, is not willing to forgive Avery for her betrayal two years ago and levies a heavy price in return for his protection. What he doesn't anticipate is the attraction that still continues to simmer between the two of them.

To begin with, this book was hot, dirty, steamy etc; clearly, the author is adept in writing some raunchy material and I am so here for it. The part where I had a problem with was that there were too many tropes thrown in - the step-sibling trope, the enemies-to-lovers, the college romance, a stalker/serial killer and the Irish Mafia. There was an attempt to include the dom-sub trope too, but it didn't go very far, though maybe the rough intimate scenes allude to that. And there were places where Shane refers to himself as Avery's monster, so I wonder if this was also a metaphoric nod to the paranormal trope. All-in-all, the author does make it work, tying in all the tropes together to produce a spicy, compelling story.

There isn't much info on the part that I was most interested in - the serial killer/stalker aka Casanova except for his signature lavender roses and the missing girls. This, IMO, was a big disappointment. But considering that this is a series, I hope, Casanova's identity is revealed in the upcoming books. Also, Shane having his way with Avery despite her clearly not being comfortable with it was more disturbing than romantic.

Overall, a steamy read, if one is into OTT heroes. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this read, couldn't put it down and read in 1 sitting!!!

Shane and Avery have a past and as a result all parties were hurt and estranged. But now they go to the same university so when Avery is contacted by a serial killer so she goes to Shane for help. And he has a proposal for her.......

Shane is alpha, protective, has links to the mafia and questionable business practices but he's actually a good guy. ..and I loved him!!!

'It means… she’s the one, and she knows it.'

Avery did get on my wick a few times but her character growth was written so well.

This author is a first for me and wont be the last! I think Declan is next and I can't wait to read it!

This book had so much potential. When it first started, the H absolutely hates the h. I mean he despises her. But she needs him and he puts his hatred aside to help her. I was invested at this point. Why does he hate her? What’s the “incident” all about? Yes, they are technically “step siblings” but their parents got together when the h was 15 and the H 17 so it’s not like they grew up together so it didn’t feel really “taboo”

Anyway, it sort of lost me with silly arguments between the MCs. The whole ‘insurance’ thing with the h was silly and the whole reason why she leaves him.

`*•.¸(`*•.★★ A NOTE FROM MARLEE ★★.•*´)¸.•*´

• What if you started school at a prestigious university, found out the perfect internship was available, and then girls exactly like you started disappearing?
• And what if you had to turn to the last person you'd ever want to need anything from?

The premise for this story came to me while I was reading a fantastic Dark College Romance on the same night I listened to a True Crime podcast. The combination of story ingredients swirled in my head until I wondered if I could interweave ALL the things I love...

• A tough, dominant hero who becomes VERY possessive
• An intelligent young woman who is determined not to be intimidated
• Dirty scenes
• An indecent proposal
★ ★ PLUS ★ ★
• A mysterious serial predator who has the audacity to call himself Casanova

Indecent Demands has all of my trademark elements.
And much more.
I hope you love it. ♡♥︎♡

Avery and Shane are stebsiblings who become wary of each other due to an incident that gets blown out of proportion by Avery's mother. When Avery seeks out Shane's protection hesitates but sees it as an opportunity to get sexual favours from her. It works out to be mutually beneficial as they have both always been attracted to each other. There is a serial kidnapper on the loose, Casanova, who gets Shane's protective instincts going. After some drama caused by Averys mom, Shane's irish mobster grandfather and a stalker, Avery and Shane work out their misunderstandings and end up together.

I really was thinking that I was gonna 5 star , maybe 4 star this bad boy, but it quickly dropped to a 3 star, and that’s me being generous considering it kept me highly engaged until about 85% when I realized there is not duet. Meaning we were gonna get a quick, very unsatisfying climax that would be over as quickly as it started (and literally the climax and its resolution were both in 2 pages) . Knowing that further on, all the other closures were going to either be not wrapped up or easily fixed like they never even mattered in the story.

Not a fan of the smut. Not a fan of the way the one and only sex scene was at 98%.
It was virgin sex too, and was also over as quickly as it started.
Not a fan of anal on a virgin.

It seemed like a lot of plot was pointless because it didn’t go anywhere.

Biggest issue is that we are not told or at least confirmed that go Casanova is. Like it’s heavily implied that Daniel was simply using the killers MO. In order to pin what he planned to do on Avery.

Also Ted? Like what’s the connection between him and David? You can’t tell me both are psycho unhinged guys who had a bone to pick with Avery and Shane?

Like until Avery mentioned Ted died, I was thinking. Could be him, makes sense for a killer to react drastically to situations, so trying to burn them alive was conceivable.

But finding out it’s not him is like way off base, having both guys in her class that she just so happened to be partners with for a project be unhinged was a weak attempt at keeping us guessing on who the killer was JUST TO NOT EVEN GIVE US CLOSER ON THAT. Like what, no I want to know what tf happened to the missing girls. Why did all of his antics stop randomly. Like be fr

“If you don’t want monster trouble, stop baiting monsters.”

OH. MY. WOW! I just met my first Marlee Wray book and what a dark delight it was! Indecent Demands an all-addicting, take no prisoners tale of suspense, smolder, and soulmates. I reveled in this forbidden romance. UTTERLY INTENSE and INTOXICATING.

Indecent Demands is the first book in the seductive Dark Knights series and it does not disappoint! I was hooked on this trifecta of stepbrother, mafia, and college romance that burns with fire and feels. Oh and for added, true crime documentary-style thrills, there’s a killer targeting women on campus. The king must protect his queen.

Shane is a dark and delicious devil of a knight who dominates all the way—my undoing who unraveled me everywhere. Avery is the beautiful and brave heroine, Shane’s perfect match. The hero and heroine were created for each other. I could feel their chemistry and deep connection.

Indecent Demands is a heart-stopping, scorcher of a romance. My body and soul burst into flames, as I burned for this book. If you like hold-you-prisoner, smokin hot, heart-pounding dark romance, run and one-click this novel now! Forbidden never tasted so sweet.

AN ABSURD PREMISE THAT ENDS UP BEING ADDICTIVE.

I’m a fan of bully romance, and when I started reading this story, I wasn’t completely convinced by the premise — it’s not very well justified or believable as an explanation for why the two protagonists live together. But I just couldn’t stop reading.

I also wasn’t too sure about the fact that this is yet another author jumping on the DUAL POV trend, which I think, when overused, kills the mystery of the plot. However, in this book it doesn’t bother me — it’s actually well executed.

When I finished it, though, I felt unsatisfied. I think there are still many unresolved conflicts between the protagonists, or at least ones that aren’t explained well enough, and I believe the book should have been a bit longer. In the following books of the series, the plot quality improves, and you can tell the author gets better at developing her stories.

Almost…

Idk. I didn’t find it dark 🤷🏻‍♀️

Avery didn’t do it for me, but naivety has never enticed me. And her mom…ugh nah. Even knowing her backstory didn’t make her less obnoxious.

I liked the idea of Shane, but tbh he’s just a cinnamon roll wrapped in a “bad boy”.
Who of course is ridic rich and related to the mafia and gets his hands dirty with his illegal businesses. As a college student. 😂

The twisty turny predictability almost hit the spot. I guess the entire thing can be summed up by “almost”.

Almost dark. Almost taboo. Almost gritty.
Zero on the emotional connection scale though. There’s too much missing to get invested in any of the characters.

And I don’t even care who Casanova is anymore.
