USA Today Bestselling Author Morgan Jane Mitchell spent years blogging politics and health trends before she rediscovered her love of writing fiction.
Trading politicians for bloodsuckers of another kind, she's now the author of bestselling post-apocalyptic fantasy novel, Sanguis City. Her action packed series of vampires, witches, demons and zombies is paranormal romance, dystopia, urban fantasy and erotica in one bite.
When Morgan Jane is not creating the city of blood or conjuring up other supernatural tales, she's dreaming up erotic and dark romances like her bestselling motorcycle club series, Asphalt Gods MC.
Despite her ever changing hair and her love of adventure, fine food and art, she spends most of her time enjoying the simple life with her free range chickens and ducks, 3 sons and the love of her life who happens to be the best assistant ever.
Riff is the Road Captain of the RBMC but was born to be a Prez. He father was the Prez of another club that disbanded and that’s when Riff became a member of RBMC but Riff always kept his eye on being their Prez.
Mary was an Amish runaway and was now working as being a nurse for CeCe and that’s how she and Riff met. She was from a very different world though with strong beliefs that had been ingrained in her. So, how does a biker and an Amish woman come close to making anything work? Has Riff fallen far enough that he’d adhere to her nothing happening until she is married and is he willing to give up his shot at being the club Prez.
I have loved this series and they are always full of drama and steam with nothing being as it seems.
3.5stars- ROYAL PAIN is the eighth instalment in Morgan Jane Mitchell’s contemporary, adult RBMC: Nashville TN erotic, MC romance series, a part of the multi-authored RBMC series. This is RBMC road captain Raef ‘Riff’ Reynolds, and Mary Stutzman’s story line. ROYAL PAIN can be read as a stand-alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order as the events of ROYAL PAIN over lap with, and run parallel to many of the events of the the entire RBMC: Nashville TN series.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives(Riff and Mary) with a final chapter by Kingpin ROYAL PAIN focuses on the building relationship between RBMC road captain Riff, and Mary Stutzman. Cece Green (Pagan’s sister) is blind, and is in need of a new in-house assistant in the wake of betrayal from her former aide. Mary Stutzman was raised in the Amish Community, and as such struggled with her future in the wake of an arranged marriage with a much older and powerful man. Looking for an exit, Mary applies for, and is hired as Cece’s assistant, where she will come face to face with her future in the guise of RBMC member Raef ‘Riff’ Reynolds.Riff is the embattled road captain of the RBMC: NashvilleTN chapter, and is struggling with his place in the club. The current club president Kingpin, fears a violent takeover and coup from his road captain but Riff is biding his time as Kingpin’s life is quickly imploding. Finding himself attracted to Cece’s new assistant, Riff begins a slow albeit platonic seduction of Mary Stutzman, a young woman with little to no experience in the ways of the world.
The slow building relationship between Mary and Riff struggles in the face of Mary’s inexperience, fears, devout religious beliefs, and biblical views on marriage and family. Riff believes Mary is his future but convincing Mary means to break down her barriers both emotional and physical but all is not well within the clubhouse, and the war with the Asphalt Gods MC becomes deadly and personal, leaving Mary alone for far too long. Believing she made a very big mistake, Mary walks away, and into a future with another man. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters as the story line covers several months, several books, and several previously revealed situations, scenarios and plot lines.
ROYAL PAIN revisits most of the conflicts addressed in the previous story lines, and as such the interactions between Mary and Riff are stilted, limited and often felt secondary to the premise. In this, I didn’t feel the attraction between our leading couple; the palpable sexual need was pushed down due to Mary’s innocence and adamant refusal for physical contact prior to marriage, and her back and forth between wanting and refusing got old. Riff would disappear for days at a time and little information about his whereabouts or what he was doing was brought into question, hence the need to read the series in order in an effort to know what was happening and why.
ROYAL PAIN is not the typical MC story line in that it felt more like an ‘Amish’ love story about first experiences and innocence.Saying that, there was more telling than showing-I was never pulled into the story line premise-I never felt connected to Mary and Riff’s relationship. ROYAL PAIN is an interesting read in which all of the previous story line conflicts are reviewed and resolved -feels like the end of this particular arc of the series; the romance is subtle ; the characters are numerous, desperate and determined.
Royal Pain (Royal Bastards MC: Nashville, TN Book 8) by Morgan Jane Mitchell has once again brought these intense bikers of the RBMC: Nashville, TN as these men are raw, gritty and rough around the edges. With all of the drama this the club has going on, characters from previous books are mentioned especially after the Halloween fiasco, we learn who has been affected and how they have moved on with their lives. This story was exciting, heartfelt and emotional with plenty of steamy moments as you follow Riff's and Mary's unconventional love story. Riff was born to take over for Kingpin. He was born a biker rat a Prince of the Smokey Rollers MC, but after the club was disbanded he ended up at Royal Road as Kingpin's shadow and Road Captain.
Riff is a sexy, larger than life biker who lacks polished manners but is good at heart, Riff will soon be thrown off his game when he meets Mary a shy beautiful young Amish woman who becomes CeCe's nurse. Riff and Mary are instantly attracted to each other, but Mary's religious beliefs are ingrained into her and she feels that the Riff and his lifestyle maybe too much for her. Mary comes from an Amish community who left her family and home from an unwanted marriage to an older man as she yearned to experience life among the English. Mary has no knowledge of the outside world and when she is introduced to Riff's biker lifestyle this introverted young woman gets a first hand look into all of the debauchery that happens at Royal Road. Will she embrace this new found freedom, especially when Riff shows her all the things she has been missing or will she try to run away.
Once these two continue to spend time with each other, Riff finds he has to take a softer approach with Mary as he doesn't want to scare her off. Mary who is sexually attracted to Riff tells him that she can only give herself to him if they are married. Now we find this bad$ss biker becomes so involved with Mary that he may miss his chance to take down Kingpin with all of the drama he brought to the club. Thinking that Mary is messing with his head, he decides to ghost her but the more time he stays away, all he can't stop thinking of is her. Is Riff finally in love? Will he sacrifice everything and ask Mary to be his ol'lady and maybe marriage? This story has the usual chaos and suspense that surrounds the Royal Bastards MC and Mary thinks Riff used her and returns back to her family. Riff now makes a choice to make give up his quest to become President of the RBMC-Nashville, TN or lose Mary forever. Riff has made his decision and goes to bring Mary back with him, will he get to her before she marries another? Can he convince her that they belong with each other when he puts his heart on the line asking for her hand in marriage? And as usual Kingpin the master of manipulation reveals his hand in bringing Riff and Mary together in order to protect his throne. This fast moving story was well written by Morgan Jane Mitchell leaving us wanting more. Can't wait for the next book in this series.
The Nashville Chapter of the RBMC’s is high on my lists of favorites (but then I’ve been in book-love with Kingpin since day one (yeah yeah, I know he can be a butt, but lordy he’s my kind of mess and the love of a good woman just might change his wicked ways). Anyway, now we have the club’s Road Captain, Riff, or “Royal Pain” as Kingpin likes to call him. He was born an MC Prince set to take over his father’s Prez position until his dad was murdered and his prior club disbanded. Now he was a member of the Nashville RBMC and he had his sights on taking over from Kingpin one day. That is until Mary, an innocent Amish girl, walks into his life. Mary was hired as a nurse for Cece. She had no true clue what life was like in the world outside her Amish community, especially the biker world. But after one meeting Riff wants to show her the ropes, especially the Physical/Intimate kind. But Mary wants to hold on to her beliefs, well most of them, and intimacy outside of wedlock is not permitted. But these two total opposites seem to click. She wants to learn his world, He wants to be a better man for her. But what comes first to them? His duties to the club or Mary? His Bid for the throne or Mary? As for Mary, does she hold onto her beliefs and survive in the biker world or does she lose her beliefs and become Riffs in every way? Does she decide she isn’t cut out for this way of life and run back home. Back to not being free to make her own choices and forced into wedlock with an older man she doesn’t care for or does she stick it out even though Riff causes her both pain and happiness?
So many questions as Mary and Riff’s story unfold. But trust me it’s a dandy. A storyline you don’t want to miss out on. If you haven’t started the RBMC Series it’s a definite must for MC readers and The Nashville chapter will keep you on your toes.
Everyone knows that I love MC books and I can't get enough of them. Morgan Jane Mitchell has been one of my favorite authors for a while now, and when I catch a glimpse of a new book, my only thought is that I need it ASAP. Her writing is raw and wild, intense, dangerous, and hot as hell. Royal Pain is her latest release and it's the eighth book from the Royal Bastards MC: Nashville chapter. This book explores the lives of Riff and Mary. Riff was born into the MC world and he's not a choir boy...Oh no, he's a badass and dangerous. His goal was to become president of his MC after his father stepped down but that didn't happen. When his MC was dismantled, he thought that dream wouldn't happen until he enters the Royal Bastards MC... Mary's life hadn't been easy. Living in the Amish community, she was sheltered from the outside world and lived in a prison. When she's able to escape and starts working as a live-in nurse, she thought that all of her dreams had come true. When she meets Riff... Lord have mercy... This book was so freaking intense that it left me breathless... Amazing plot, well written, super engaging and so, so intense. The character worked perfectly with each other and you can see the way Mary blossoms into a beautiful woman. It was amazing to witness the way they evolved, not only with each other but also in life. Adored having glimpses of the other characters. And of course that the hot stuff was there as well. Oh, Morgan, you're making me a bigger fan by the book.
Royal Pain by Morgan Jane Mitchell is the story of Riff and Mary. She left her community because it was stifling and she was to be wed to a much older man. Mary was now to be a caregiver for a blind woman in the MC. There she meets Riff. He’s immediately entranced…but, her roots are deep and she has a strict code of conduct…he wants to break.
This was an interesting play on the forbidden romance genre. It was a little off for me since Riff said all the right things…said everything was her decision. But, it seemed like he meant the exact opposite. Seemed a little passive-aggressive. Meanwhile…Mary claimed to want to hold on to her beliefs, but seemed to break those at every turn. The motivations of these two were blurred and a little hard for me to believe. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story!
Morgan Jane Mitchell has done it again. I was pulled into the world of the Royal Bastards and Riff's story from the very start. Riff has on thing on his mind and that is being the President of the Royal Bastards until he meets Mary and she twists him all up inside. I loved the journey we were taken on as they formed a friendship, bond and then becoming more. I loved Mary's innocents and even though he tried to rush things he held back to respect her and her beliefs. There were a few time I wanted to knock him upside the head for being an idiot, but then he quickly redeemed himself and I could help, but cheer him on as he knew he couldn't be without her. This is such a great read and wonderful addition to this series.
MMC/FMC- Riff and Mary POV- 1st person dual Genre- MC Romance Heat level- slow burn until they do all the things and name the bits Series? Y Cliffhanger? N HEA/HFN? Y Triggers- usual 3 for MC Romance (language, violence, explicit erotic content) Tropes- Former Amish, Good Girl/Bad Boy What I liked- Riff didn’t pressure Mary to go against her beliefs once he got to know her. And Mary was able to adjust to the English world without sacrificing her faith. What I didn’t- how disrespectful some club members were to her, but Riff did put them in their places. Verdict- recommended as an easy MC read. For an MC Romance, it’s mostly a sweet romance.

This is the 8th book in this incredible series, and this is Riff and Mary’s story. Riff is the road captain for the MC, and this is the only life her has ever known. Mary has had a sheltered upbringing, and instead of marrying an old man, she makes the decision to leave her Amish family behind. When Mary is offered a job as a live-in nurse, she jumps at the chance. Riff and Mary may be completed opposites, but they are attracted to each other. This is a well written action-packed story, which has romance, twists, intrigue, tragedy, emotions, and love, which leads to an unpredictable, entertaining, and steamy addictive page turner. Mary and Riff's story is a good one when it came to their different backgrounds, such as Riff being in an MC and Mary escaping her Amish upbringing. The author did an excellent job mixing it up with this couple as it shows the innocence of Mary's sweetness and Riff's indecisiveness between wanting a relationship or missing his chance of being the President of the RBMC. There was plenty of drama and action that spans from some of the previous books so it was interesting to see the different views of what current character's thoughts were actually going on with the mc.

In this book you are seeing some old friends and some new ones. The characters are from different backgrounds and different social areas. Mary is very religious and is Amish by birth, but ran away because she didn’t want to marry a man who is old enough to be her grandfather. Riff is an orphan, and is trying to take over as the President of the Royal Bastards, so far no luck. When he meets Mary he is rocked to his core about her beauty and innocence. He starts to have feelings for her and tries to get her into bed, but Mary i has a strong moral compass and isn’t falling for it. They eventually work it out and prove that opposites attract.
This is the eighth story in the Nashville chapter of the RB MC. It is a drama filled and emotional roller coaster ride read with some twists I did not see coming. The story has a little suspense, action, steam, good twists and more. The story involves Riff, the Road Captain, and Mary, a nurse working with Cece. He was born to be President until his father's MC disbanded now he has his eye on the role in the RB MC. Mary has escaped her Amish up bringing only to come face to face with the true life in an MC. These two come from opposite worlds. Their story is a slow build that is very interesting and intriguing.
Riff was once the heir apparent, set to inherit the Presidency of the Smokey Rollers MC. That ended when the club disbanded, which led to him becoming road captain of RBMC of Nashville. He intends to take over from Kingpin one day until Mary arrives at the club. Mary grew up Amish, does not really know much outside the community, is Cece’s nurse. Even though she is attracted to Riff, her upbringing may keep the pair apart.
As the two spend time together, Riff tries to dial it back as to not scare her off. Mary will sleep with him outside of marriage. Is he willing give up everything he has wanted for her?.

I love this story! We get a little of everything in this book. Catching up with old favorites is always a great thing but being a part of watching Riff and Mary become more is the best. They are definitely worlds apart in their lifestyles but we get to see a side of Riff I wasn't sure was there. Mary is an innocent and Riff makes sure that everything that happens between them happens in her time, when she's ready. Of course there's the usual chaos that comes with the Royal Bastards and there were times a few of them needed an attitude adjustment but that's just life with the Bastards.
I was very surprised with this book. Riff really makes a big burly biker look like a big ol teddy bear. First off these two characters don't really look like they would ever be a couple. My goodness, Mary is after all Amish. It was a very wonderful book and it shows that men can wait for the right things in life. They just have to have a good reason put in front of them. The characters a great and we also got a little look about dome of the others from Royal Road. Morgan Jane Mitchell is such an awesome writer and I always look forward to her upcoming books
I like reading about these bikers and their crazy ways but this particular story fell a little short with me. I liked the overall storyline but felt like the writing was elementary especially in Mary’s POV. I know she was Amish and was new to a lot of the ways of the “English” but it just seemed more than that. Also the way both Mary and Riff would change their minds and feelings were very abrupt swinging violently one way then the other. Like I said I like the overall storyline and this series and I’m looking forward to reading part 2 of Levi’s sequel coming up next.
Really enjoyed this amazing read from my Nashville MC, enjoyed this one because these two were absolutely an unlikely pair he is a big burly biker and she is a sweet Amish girl, they are from different worlds, and she is like forbidden fruit to this man that loves to chase women.
Mary is running from her past and he is chasing his dream of being President of an MC. Can they make it or will the odds be against them? Riff and Mary are two amazingly different people who are drawn to one another, can she trust him to be what she needs?
This is Book 8 of Royal Bastards MC: Nashville, TN starring Riff AKA Royal Pain and Mary. Wow talk about opposites and night and day. These two are opposite as they can get and so perfect together it is super sweet. I loved the naughty side of Riff as he is courting Mary. Then after all the drama and back and forth these two get their happily ever after. This one one that will get you wanting your own biker. This is one you need to read.

Mary has left her Amish home and ends up in Nashville at a Women's Shelter. When Cece needs a nurse to help her since she is blind Mary is hired to help her. Riff falls for the sweet innocent Mary but she is not sure she wants to be involved with the Royal Bastards MC. There are all kinds of twists in this story which evolves around Riff and Mary. Read to see is Riff can convince Mary that she is where she needs to be.

This is a slow burn, heart melting read! I loved how Mary brings out the best in Riff and although conflicted at times, he is true to his heart and his feelings. I love how his love for Mary enabled him to go at her pace and although this book wasn’t as steamy as other books in this series, it was still amazing!!!
I also love how this author keeps us up to date on other key characters and loved to see the update on Kingpin and Eve. This is one of my all time favourite MC couples and I love seeing more of them!!!
This book, wow. From the moment that I started reading, I was hooked and could not put this down until the last page was read. It moves along at a pace that is perfect for this story, which makes for an enjoyable read. The characters are fantastic and you will find yourself loving them no matter what happens and the story does not disappoint, keeping you interested and reading until the end. This book is a must read, no doubt about it.
Riff’s upbringing is in the MC and Mary’s upbringing is Amish. They say opposites attract and, in this book, they do. Mixing it up with this couple as it shows the innocence of Mary's sweetness and Riff's indecisiveness between wanting a relationship or missing his chance of being Kingpins replacement as President of the Royal Bastards MC. I like how we also got the different views of the group from Valentines Eve. As always, a job well done with this book Morgan Jane Mitchell!
Mary is a young Amish woman who is to look after a blind lady. Riff is a member of the Royal Bastards MC. They couldn't be more different.
He wants things to progress quickly but Mary wants to take her time and wait until they are married. This story is about Riff maturing and making the best choices. Well written and great characters.

Never disappointed by a Morgan Jane Mitchell book. A biker and an Amish girl? Mary arrives to become Cece's new nurse and Riff is struck stupid by her arrival. Can a rough, tough, alpha male sit patiently and wait for her to realize her destiny is with him? Well......he waits, not so patiently, and fate steps in. Join Mary and Riff as they navigate the world they find themselves in.
Never have I ever was the theme of this book. It seemed to gravitate towards the loneliness that Riff was feeling. Knowing a little about the Amish, made reading this easier. Riff and Mary, will forge a new beginning for each of them. I loved everything about this book. Yet again Ms. Mitchell has provided another awesome book.
I loved this, Mary is the young lady who has taken on the role of Cece's carer/ nurse, she is an innocent soul who has left her Amish community to try out the English culture, Riff is the Road Captain who has taken for her but its still conflicted on what he actually wants, Mary or Kingpin's Presidency.
Riff has been one of my favorite characters, and I loved his story. Mary comes from a different place she is Amish and has never known what life was like. I love how patient Riff is and how he will do anything to keep and protect her. This book was incredible, and I absolutely love their perfect ending.
Royal Pain, Royal Bastards MC: Nashville TN Chapter, more from the crazy bikers in Tennessee is Riff road captain’s story. Riff and Mary are two very different people who when ever works out they work. The craziness at Royal Road just keeps getting crazier and crazier but keeps us so entertained we love this so much.
I enjoyed reading this book on a rainy afternoon. The plot was well written and the flow was smooth. The couple had very intense and romantic chemistry. There was lots of action and intrigue for the reader. I would recommend reading this series in order.

Being an avid reader especially with the Royal Bastards I always thought there would be no room in my crush category for anyone but Rael (thank you Nikki Landis) until Riff. True love there 💖 Can't wait to see if he sits on the throne! I highly recommend this book 💋
