When Becca returns to Jericho as the new deputy, she wasn't expecting that the man she's loved for ten years would welcome her with a night of passion and lust. Nor did she expect that he was actually her new boss, the newly appointed sheriff. Hey, this wasn't too bad! But maybe it's because I didn't have high hopes or maybe it's because I was worried that it would be one of those LL books where she's got a million characters and some crazy plot to keep track of, but this was a surprisingly quick, simple to follow read. And I need that now and then from LL! It had your typical LL sex scenes that were only a little bit wicked and unusual (making use of the good ol' cucumber, and a nightstick--I kept thinking about the possible germs, though).:) Of course it wouldn't be LL if the characters didn't spend some time sniping, scowling, and sneering at each other (she really needs a better choice of words--why do two people who love each other scowl and sneer at each other so much?) And there were a few typos and breaks in the logic that had me saying "huh?" a few times, but all in all, not a bad little erotic suspense. Nothing too taxing for the brain, a decent amount of heat, and a pretty simple plot about terrorists being smuggled into the country and hidden in the sleepy little small town of Jericho, Tennessee. The hero, sexy 36-year-old former Marine Jackson Montgomery, is the Sheriff, and 26-year-old Becca Taylor (who had a childhood crush on Jackson) is his newest deputy. It doesn't take them long to act on Becca's desire to see what she's been lusting after for ten years (hot bedroom scenes), but before long, they're both caught up in the task of stopping the treasonous activity going on in their small town. A pretty suspenseful conclusion where both Jackson and Becca's lives are on the line forces each of them to realize their deep feelings for the other, and leads to a nice little HEA.

Just one thing bugged me--there's a minor character in the book, a former detective named Jacob with a tragic past who now is sort of a reclusive "mountain man"--I've been racking my brain wondering if he ever got his own book and I just haven't read it, or if maybe LL has plans to write his story? She sure did give him a bit of a setup for a future story, and I'd definitely be interested in reading it.

So, if you like Lora Leigh and you're interested in reading one of her earlier works that has a sort of Nauti Boys feel to it in terms of atmosphere and suspense--I'm thinking of Nauti Dreams--then you might want to read this one. Not bad. 4 stars

Okay read but didn't really feel enough like Lora Leigh's writing. There is another author who must have co-wrote the book since her name is on the cover too, I am not sure why LL would want to co-write anything when she is so good already on her own.

Oh yeah, we have use of a cucumber in this book too. The use of vegetables is totally beyond me, just not hot at all. Are they too cheap to buy a real toy?

I've been wanting to read this book for a VERY long time so I finally took the plunge. I have read a LOT of Lora Leigh's book's but it was the fact that it was co written with Veronica Chadwick that made me want to read it and the fact that it sounded really good. Well I must say that I REALLY enjoyed this book. I thought the story though short had a good story line. I liked the fact that these two have know each other for a very long time and when she came back older and all grown up that the sparks flew off the page.

Was this book HOT? You bet your sweet bippy it was. Come on it's Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick. OK so there was a scene with a cucumber and also a police club, they were short and hot nonetheless.

What I really loved about this book was I could really feel the love these two had for each other.

I also really loved the action parts too. They had me on the edge of my seat reading fast and furious.

I guess you could say that I pretty much loved this book.

Either I started reading this book before and didn't finish it, or I read the whole book and it didn't stick with me AT ALL... I can't decide. But really, how many books can there be with cucumbers and night-sticks?

I read the first few pages, felt it was too familiar, and then checked this site. After reading a ton of reviews mentioning night-sticks, I am pretty sure I've read this.

With Ellora's Cave books you always get x rated scenes but with this author, you always get a great story line also. I read this one pretty fast, it kept my interest, and just wanted to know how it ended.

This book was a nice surprise. I thought it was going to be 2 short stories by the 2 authors, but it's only 1 story cowrote by them.

Becca comes home to Jericho to take a new job as a deputy after her aunt dies. Her 1st night back, she visit the local bar to see if she can meet any of her old friends. She meets Jackson, the man she's had a crush on since she was a young girl, and has a hot night of great sex with him.

After his uncle's suspected murder, he is now the Town Sheriff. Jackson leaves before she awakes to go to work. Becca reports to work and is shocked to find Jackson is her new boss. Jackson has a hard time keeping his hands off Becca.

Becca discovers that there is something strange going on between Jackson and the Mayor. Jackson suspects the Mayor of foul play and is pretty sure his 2 deputies are involved.

Together they solve the crime....and fall madly in love.

Great Book!!!

WORTH EVERY PENNY!! SCORCHINGLY HOT!!

I paid close to $30 for this novel (brand-new), due to the fact that it was no longer in print. I WOULD'VE PAID 5X'S THAT AMOUNT JUST TO GET A CHANCE OF READING IT!!

The sexual, carnal, cravings that Jackson & Becca posses for one another never cease from the moment they first kiss, until their happily ever after, in the end.

The superb collabration of Ms. Leigh & Ms. Chadwick was undeniably flawless. I literally didn't have to skip ahead and read other pages, as I usual do, to wait for the THRILLING, ACTION-PACKED SUSPENSE, the BRAZEN moments between the lead characters involved, and the INDISPUTABLE LOVE to reveal itself. All of it was delivered within every single page.

I will never look at Vegitables or any other types of produce in the same light ever again, without saturating my own panties, by a mere glance.

WELL DONE MS. LEIGH & MS CHADWICK, THIS NOVEL DESERVES WELL BEYOND A 10 STAR RATING!!

First full length Lora Leigh novel I read and I enjoyed it. I found the characters interesting but not to complex, the story line riveting and entertaining. Sometimes writers get lost in boring repetitive main character created conflict and in this book it was not the case. Looking forward to reading more of her work.

Oh yeah, there were moving violations all right...the sheriff and his officer. The tiny bit of action involving a villainous mayor and his cohorts assisting terrorists was tied together with lots and lots of sex, a cucumber, and a nightstick in the mountains of Tennessee.

This was ok. Not my fav lora leigh but good. Pleasantly surprised that it was one story by two authors and not two stories. Characterd weren't really memorable and their relationship was ok. She wasn't whinny(sp?) Which scored points.

Didn't stand up on a re-read. I liked it the first time, but not as much this time.
