What happens if Hermione never escaped that night at the Manor?
Instead, she is thrown into the dungeons.
Her friends had left her.
Her only company are her own thoughts and Draco Malfoy, who convinced the Dark Lord to
spare her.
But at what cost to her?
-----------
He withdrew his wand from his robes as he closed the remaining distance to Hermione. His
black dragon skin shoes came into her view and she slowly raised her eyes to look at him. He
towered over her, draped in black robes. The light was behind his head, creating a halo with
his blonde hair.
Was this how she was going to die?
At the hands of Draco fucking Malfoy?
His grey eyes bored into hers as he leveled his wand on her chest. Her vision swam with tears
that threatened to spill down her cheeks as she silently pleaded with him.
Draco's expression hardened as the first tear slid down her cheek.
If she hadn’t been looking at his face, she would have missed his words that barely carried to
her ears, “I’m sorry, Granger.”

I don't quite know how to rate this fic since I feel like I've read 4 different stories combined in one fic. I feel like the author tried to combine too many tropes into one fic to cover more bases, when they could've easily written 3 unique stories that had little to do with eachother. They also could turn it into a series instead of combining all parts and make it a 100 chapter story.

To be fair to the story, I want to rate each part differently and focus on the tropes each of them are based on.

Part 1. Drawing Room Scene: 1 Star

When Dobby let's them know that he isn't able to apparate all of them out of Malfoy Manor, Hermione makes the ultimate sacrifice and decides to stay behind and let Harry and Ron escape without her.
Harry is the only one who can bring down Voldemort and she will do anything she can to make sure that happens. She also is sure that her boys will come back for her, even though she told them not to.
But days turn into weeks and she is no closer to escape then she was the day they left her behind and there are no news of them even attempting a rescue.
She is stuck in the dungeons, getting tortured daily and her only communication is with Draco.
They slowly start a relationship and even though he is the one who has to torture her daily, he is also the only that tries to save her and find a way for her to escape.

I didn't really like this part. I got bored and had to stop reading it.
Grammatical errors aren't usually a thing that I pay attention to since English isn't my first language and I honestly don't really care about them, but they were very prominent through the entire fic.
Hermione was a very unlikable character and Draco was pretty toxic. They relationship was straight up abusive and Draco enjoyed torturing Hermione and dwelving into her mind uninvited.

Part 2. Battle of Hogwarts: 3 Stars

With the help of Draco, Hermione manages to escape the Manor and apparates into Hogsmeade where she knows that Harry and Ron are. She manages to find them immediately and together they go to Hogwarts where the big battle will take place.
Even though both her friends are happy to see her, Hermione can't help to feel betrayed by them. They left her at the Manor and didn't even try to rescue her, instead they went and found the Horcruxes without her.
In the midst of the battle, they stumble into Draco and when he starts to fight with them to protect Hermione, the boys realize that things changed more than they realized.

I actually started to like the story at this point.
Draco and Hermione completely changed from the way they were at the Manor and their relationship became wholesome. Draco turned turncoat for her and did everything she asked of him and he didn't care if anyone approved of their relationship.
I loved this Draco and the Draco that he was till the end of the fic and only Hermione continued to annoy me, (but to be fair alot less than she did in part 1).

Part 3. After War: 5 Stars

The battle is won and Voldemort is gone.
The trials begin but instead of holding the Death Eaters responsible for their actions against the Wizarding community, Harry decides to trial everyone who killed someone in battle. Draco manages to walk away scot-free, yet Hermione will have to face trial for killing Death Eaters.
She doesn't understand what goes through Harry's mind and when Ginny and Ron reflect her opinion about Harry behaving irrationally, they discover something terrible. Voldemort didn't die at the battle of Hogwarts but rather the remaining part of his soul travelled to the closest vessel it could find, which happened to be Harry.
Blinded by rage for the people that led to his death and the ones of his Death Eaters, Voldemort seeks revenge and his biggest target is Hermione. He vouches to destroy her and remove her from everyone she loves.

and Part 4. Memory Loss: 5 Stars

After hitting Harry with the Killing Curse, Hermione hopes that Voldemort is finally gone. He not only took Draco's memories, leaving Hermione with an ache that can't be filled... he also forever tainted her relationship with Harry. Even when she knows that Harry didn't have anything to do with the terrible things Voldemort did to her, she can't help but feel uneasy and anxious around him.
Harry having survived the Killing Curse for a third time in his life, is being locked away in a secure prison in the Ministry for observation. Even though the Healers find no trace of Voldemort on him and he seems to be back to normal, Kingsley doesn't want to take any changes and Hermione for once agrees. She can't understand how he could've survived the Killing Curse a third time and his answers don't match with her memories of that night. She is sure that Harry is hiding something from her and her suspicions only get confirmed when she discovers the Horcrux Harry created.
She knows that Voldemort is toying with her and she won't stop until she makes sure that every little part of him is destroyed, even if it kills Harry with him.

The last two parts were my favorite of the overall story and I actually love the idea of Voldemort possessing Harry without anyone knowing. I loved the execution of it and if this was the only part of the story, it would've been a 5 Star read for me.

One thing that bugged me throughout the fic and left me unsatisfied was how quickly each situation got solved until the next problem arose.
In part 1, it took only a day for Hermione to escape, from the time Draco showed her the path.
In part 2, the battle did follow the book but I feel like the misunderstandings between the characters were passed over too quickly.
In part 3, Hermione found out about Voldemort way too easily, (he didn't even try to hid it) and then he was defeated way to easily.
In part 4, the memory loss didn't stop Draco from continue his relationship like normal but with a few memory gaps. It wasn't really an issue for them so it felt like an missed opportunity for the author to add to the angst of the story.
The part with Voldemort also resolved to quickly again.

I feel like the author added so many tropes to the story that she didn't get to explore all of them in the way she wanted.
I liked the overall story of the fic and I loved the ideas behind it but I can't help but feel that it would be better if the plot points were divided into 3 different fics or even if it turned into a series.
I would like to read more about an Obliviated Draco and see how they would find the way back to eachother.
I loved the "Possessed by Voldemort, Harry" and would love to read an entire fic solely based on the tought behind it.

Even so I really liked the fic and I'm glad I stuck it out.
The grammatical errors stopped bothering me and the characters became more likeble the more I read about them.
I loved how the Weasleys were written and how supportive of Hermione they were even if they didn't understand her choices. Molly especially stole my heart from the first moment she showed up.

It was dark the way I like it! Written properly. Good enough. Got dragged towards the end. 1/3 was brilliant but from there everything was okay okay. Entertaining enough but won’t read it again 🤷🏻‍♀️

DNF at around 50%, everything gets resolved way too quickly and reads like an average fanfic. The typos didn't bother me that much, but just running spell check would help.

Really great story. The first half was amazing and satisfied my search for a manacled type book.

What if Hermione’s fate at the Manor took a darker turn? Captured and left behind, she finds herself trapped in the dungeons with no one but her thoughts—and Draco Malfoy, the one who convinced the Dark Lord to let her live. But why did he save her, and what will it mean for her future?

Beautifully written, but be prepared—it feels like reading four distinct acts or themes in one story. Some might find this frustrating, but I expected it and felt ready for the shifts. It’s like experiencing four books in the same series. Overall, I enjoyed it, but please take note of the trigger warnings—there are several very dark and sensitive themes. 🖤 #BookReview #DarkReads

Pretend this book is actually THE CURSED ONE by the same author. I couldn’t find it on goodreads and needed it to count for my goal.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“If she was going to hell for this, she wanted to go in flames.”

“But not all dreams are made of what we desire, and many things lurk in the dark.”

I liked this. I needed a dragon story and this one was cool. It was an interesting concept. The only thing that felt rushed was their emotional bond, but other than that the timing seemed pretty good.
Lots of fanfictions have Ron as an asshole and I did not like him in this one. I also didn’t really like Harry but I didn’t hate him either. I also think it was cool to have Charlie be a main character cause he’s really not in the main series that much. So that was fun.
Anyways I liked this.
