Nelly
It started as a favour. I needed him to pretend to be my boyfriend for a few family dates. Despite having worked the bar at The Perished Riders MC for a couple of years, I’d hardly ever spoken with Ghost, so he was less than pleased when the club’s President forced him into helping me.

But he shows up for me, something I’m not used to when it comes to relying on men. All my past mistakes involve let-downs or cheating liars, but it seems like Ghost is far from my usual type.

He calls me out on my bull, and he builds me up when I’m feeling less than. Sometimes, I have to pinch myself to believe he’s real and interested in me.

I want to believe he’s my forever, but I’m Nelly and ‘mistake’ is my middle name.

Ghost

‘Biker’ and ‘trustworthy’ don’t go in the same sentence, but that’s what I am. You treat me good, and I’ll look after you. So, when my president asks me to help our barmaid out, I reluctantly agree. I don’t know much about Nelly, but it soon becomes apparent she has low self-esteem and falls for the wrong type easily. Take her ex, for example—he’s a married liar and yet she still lets him into her bed whenever he clicks his damn slimy fingers.

Spending so much time with Nelly gets me thinking maybe she could be my happy ever after, my ol’ lady. I want to settle down like the rest of my brothers, and Nelly’s got just what I need with her gorgeous curves and a vulnerable side that calls to me. She needs protecting, and I need comforting.

Our relationship moves fast, almost too fast, because when she messes everything up, I don’t even see it coming.

She once told me ‘mistake’ was her middle name . . . I should have believed her.

The couple: Ghost and Nelly

Romance trope: Series: The Perished Riders MC
Length: 279 pages

Plot: Nelly's parents are coming into town and she doesn't want to look like a loser to them, so she asks the guys in the club if one of them could act as her fiance when she goes to meet her mom and dad. Pres of the club tells Ghost to do it, and he does it reluctantly. He doesn't like Nelly and everything he learns about her makes him like her less. She is insecure and lies to her parents and continues an affair with a married man. But he starts to change his mind and is determined to help her be a better person while claiming her as his. But all that will come tumbling down when a crisis hits and Ghost will have to decide if he can stand by the woman he professes to love.

Commentary: These two were a mess and a half! It was weird that immediately after he was so mean to her, Ghost was like, nope, I love her. They had issues to work out and the crisis ) led to a low point in the story. But I want to talk about professional victim Harriet. In what world would it be okay to keep a guy on the hook like that? Everyone else but Ghost saw what was happening. Harriet saw what was happening and even told Ghost that she only liked him as a friend, but she still called him for help with tiny things, knowing he would jump up and run to her (a spider? really?). She knew he was with Nelly and that didn't stop her. She even at one point acted really sad and was like "oh no, you left her to come to me." Just stop. He wouldn't leave his girlfriend if you didn't keep calling him. There's a whole club of guys to help you, or maybe you could take care of your own spiders. But she still coos to Ghost and he runs over, she kisses him on the cheek even knowing about his crush on her (and I really think it was a crush, not true love), sits close to him, integrates him into her child's life, encourages him to confide in her about his relationship problems. I mean, OW alert, no matter how much she says she doesn't feel anything for him. So she might not be a traditional evil OW, but she definitely maladjusted and self-absorbed enough to be okay with wrecking someone else's relationship.

Ghost and Nelly

Nelly has had a messed up past. Ghost gets put on fake boyfriend duty by Maverick. It starts out that Ghost is determined to do it to win the bet the brothers have going on.

After a few dates Ghost and Nelly become an item. Ghost runs at a drop of a hat every time Harriet calls even for the smallest things, which causes Nelly' insecurities come forward even more.

A person from Nelly' past goes to far to get what he wants. Loved how she handled that, lol.

Only thing that bothers me is, will Ghost keep running every time Harriet still calls? That was left hanging. Has Rosy lost her toughness?

I'm having a hard time reviewing this story. The bones were good and I enjoyed it but some important things were left unresolved IMO. I felt like Harriet and Ghost's friendship was borderline inappropriate and even when Nelly expressed her concerns about it Ghost didn't change anything. He also didn't grovel nearly enough after the big reveal. I ended this book feeling like things were unresolved between the two of them and that if Harriet called he would still go running and that's not how I like my HEA. I will continue this series because I've really enjoyed it so far. Grim was a 5 star read for me, Ghost was just a miss. Fingers Crossed the next one is a hit

OW and OM stuff

Even darker MC stories shouldn't have cheating or OM or OW stuff. There's both of the two latter. It's disgusting.

If you loved Raven's Place (King's Reapers Book 8), then this will be right up your alley. There were so many similarities between the two that I couldn't help but make comparisons.

Ghost was born in the club. His father is a brother, his mother an old lady, and his brother a patched member. This is is his life, and he knows it, but when the brothers start to fall one by one, Ghost is left wondering when his turn will be. From the moment the blurb was released, I wanted to love Ghost, but in the end, he disappointed me. He talked a good game, but when Nelly really needs him, he's not there.

Nelly needs a Ghost in her life, but I am not sure this one was a good match for her. She's a people pleaser, so it's just easy to go along with what everyone else wants instead. You can see this over, and over again. However, what I loved about her is that she does step up when need be. She's the reason that Rylee escapes abuse (Maverick #1). She also takes action for herself and gets justice. However, I wish Nelly would have put Ghost in his place.

I will admit that I stayed up late in the night to finish this book. While I don't regret that, I feel like somewhere towards the big reveal, it loses traction. There's some huge opportunities that are missed, and it just feels incomplete. Scar is still the better brother in my opinion.

What a Ride!!

Where to even begin because this book had so much gone on, I couldn’t put it down. Nelly worked at the The Perished Riders MC clubhouse at the bar and was well loved. She was friends with the Prez’s wife so when Nelly told her that she needed a fake boyfriend while her parents were in town Ghost’s name had come up. This was the farthest thing from his mind but when he is ordered by his Prez to help out, he has no choice.

The banter between Nelly and Ghost was funny at times but that’s where the fun stopped because this book took on a pretty heavy theme. They were at odds with each other as well because of some unrequited jealousy with the exes.

I loved watching Ghost change and the way he cared for not only Nelly but her parents as well. Nelly had so much to deal with it broke my heart at times. I loved the connection between Nelly and the women at the club as well.

This book had it all with the chemistry, drama and suspense it made it a one sit read for me. The Perished Riders MC series has become one of my favorites.

I make it known I’m a big Nicola Jane fan and I was so looking forward to Ghosts book.
And it delivered in only a way Nicola can. Drama, angst and emotions wrapped up in one book. Ghost is a gentle giant who is thrown into a fake relationship with Nelly and gets more than he bargained for. I spent half the book wondering what Nelly would do to stuff it all up and when it came my heart broke for her. They both make mistakes, they both fall pretty quickly and we get a pretty believable HEA

Re-read April 24, Ghost second time around I still liked it but gosh he made me angry with how unsupportive of Nelly he was and always choosing to support Harriet

Ghost has watched his other brothers find their love. While he never thought it would be him, he wants what they have. Nelly is a people pleaser as she puts everyone's needs in front of her own. She needs a fake fiance to show her parents so she starts asking the guys. Ghost is picked and while he doesn't want to do it, a bet has him filling the role.

Both are very flawed. Ghost is at another woman's beck and call even when he decides he is all in for Nelly. Nelly thinks she is a strong woman. I just didn't see her that way. Too many times I wanted to tell her to think for herself. Ghost pushes the relationship and then realizes he doesn't know Nelly and makes that her fault.

The story is interesting but I kept waiting for it to become more. I love the guys and would have liked a little more interaction among themselves. In general Ghost is a good read but I feel like it could have been more: more action, more romance, more of the group. Still worth the read nonetheless.

I know when I read a Nicola Jane book I am in for a wild ride and this book was no exception. Ghost begrudgingly agrees to be Nelly’s fake boyfriend. Nelly is not his time, besides Harriet is the one he wants but she doesn’t reciprocate his feelings. Nelly is so afraid to disappoint people that she usually ends up in crazy situations.
The characters had me shaking my head, cursing them out and practically throwing my kindle. And it was awesome!! I love flawed characters and watching them grow. The worst part is now the book is over and I have to impatiently wait for the next. Nicola is a one click author for me and her books never disappoint ❤️.

Book four in The Perished Riders MC brings Ghost and Nelly's story. When Nelly needs a fake boyfriend Ghost agrees to help her. The author brings a suspense filled romance with tons of action and heat. I loved the characters and reading their story. It's well written, moves fluidly and is a fantastic read.

Shocked and Appalled

🚨🛑🚨 Trigger Warning and Spoilers🙅🏾‍♀️

I read a lot of MC romance sub-genre books. I like dark romance and I even read dub con books. However, this book shocked and appalled me with the use of rape as a tool. It was definitely a story tool. FMC suffers from crippling insecurities but she works through them with the tough-tell-it-like-it-is love of Ghost the MMC. What starts as friendly frienemies to kinda lovers to Ole Lady story at record speeds screeches to a halt when the FMC is set up by an ex and date-raped while drugged. It's gruesome. Especially because it comes from nowhere conflict-wise. The FMC does not get help to report it because she doesn't remember, drama on drama she finds out she's preggers the next night (a dream come true after believing her infertility snatched it away), and the rape came the same night she and Ghost had their millionth fight. Either way, it read as a gimmicky plot device and inon like it.
Oftentimes rape is used as a shortcut for authors and it's getting old. That story element could have been handled differently. What's worse is that the rape happens at 75% of the book and we watch the fallout in hyper speed. The plotting and pace of the story are now neutered. The tone is completely shifted at this point from light MC fare to gut-wrenching drama. The FMC's family drama doesn't feel properly resolved either, some threads were left dangling. A proper epilogue would have smoothed over the bitterness but it didn't.

Questions left:

❓ did the family work through the trauma of losing the FMC's twin
❓ the parents didn't even care about their daughter's relationship image but she went into it lying thinking it mattered. So what was the point of this storyline?
❓ The OW Harriet (Harriet was the unrequited love for Ghost. He was having an emotional affair without realizing it.) But when FMC needs space because Ghost's mom pushed too hard, why did she say "ah...Diamond strikes again?" What did she mean? Did something similar happen to her
❓ parents' reaction to their long-term business partner having an affair with their only child
❓ parents' reaction to learning that the same business partner set up their daughter's rape

DNF @chapter7

Nelly is a total doormat who presently has sex twice with former lover who's married ( despite being confronted by her ex lover's wife in the past already which is the reason why she left the family business and shifted here), first when she met him & second time after she got to know that he has two children (1 year old & 2 year old), WHILE being in a fake relationship knowing that Ghost (fake boyf) knows what she's doing and isn't happy about it. NELLY IT'S BASIC RESPECT CONSIDERING HE'S HELPING YOU!!!

Ofcourse when we get to know that a third child is on the way she breaks it off but it's still not enough for me.

Apart from that, everything's going way too fast. There are too many ideas involved and so none of them get importance. The fake dating aspect isn't for long, the bet thing isn't for long. ' Oh poor Nelly feels bad about herself/has low self esteem ' is still working though.
I'm not against shy/insecure heroines, but i will not tolerate a stupid one.

Ghost seems nice till now, atleast he realised his feelings faster and didn't flaunt the OW.

Ghost : The Perished Riders MC - Book 4 by Nicola Jane is another great addition to this amazing series featuring these tough, gritty sexy bikers whose loyalty to their club comes first, but when love comes into their lives they are all in as they become overly protective of their women!

Ghost is no nonsense badass biker who has grown up in the club, this lifestyle is all he knows. As his brothers are finding love, Ghost is left wondering when will he find love. He thought Harriet would be the one, but she only wants to be friends so he will stand by her, helping her each time she calls him for help wishing it could be more. Nelly is a sexy, bartender who has been working at the Perished Riders MC bar for years , her close friendship with Neely who is the ol'lady to Maverick, President of the club, has her treated like family. Now Nelly who comes from a wealthy family is tired of her family constantly pushing her to find a husband so she asks Neely if she can hook her up with one of the brothers to pretend to be her boyfriend. Ghost ends up being the one offered to help Neely. When he is told by his President and his ol'lady that he needs to help out Nelly, at first he is rude and adamant that he will not help her until Mav tells him he has no choice. Of all the men, Neely is put off that Ghost would have to be the one as he has never taken any notice or interest in her as she isn't his type. Now these two will begin a love hate relationship as Ghost calls out Nelly for the poor choices she makes, her low self esteem and is a people pleaser. Ghost finds the time he is spending with her pretending to be her boyfriend he becomes completely invested. Could Neely be the one to make him forget Harriet? When he learns Nelly has been seeing her father's business partner Hugo who is much older and married, he calls Nelly out and walks out on her. Nelly keeps making mistakes and has no willpower when it comes to Hugo but that will soon change when she sees he has been playing her. Now their pretend relationship soon changes as feelings escalate for both of them as they enter a relationship that is hard and fast. The passion between them is explosive as they give into the raw, sensual desire once Ghost gets her in his bed. Now Ghost is starting to think that maybe Nelly would make the perfect ol'lady if he could only make her see that Hugo is a liar and up to no good. Nelly is still thinking that she isn't good enough for Ghost even when he builds her up and makes her feel good about herself, she still wonders if he can be her forever or will she end up destroying what they have?

This story had it all suspense, drama, angst, plenty of steamy moments and danger. With Ghost promising to protect her, Neely finds herself in danger. Will Ghost get to her in time when her life is on the line or will an error in judgement cost him the woman he has fallen for? Love how Neely becomes this strong woman with the love she has found with Ghost, she gets even with the men who hurt her. This is a must read as you take this ride or die journey with Ghost and Neely. Can't wait for the next book by Nicola Jane.

A wonderful read, great characters and lots of action and wonderful story

Nelly was in a predicament and she needed him to pretend that they were her boyfriend on a few family dates that she had to attend which was something she did not want to do whilst she was on her own.

Ghost is not like the usual men she goes out with he does not stand for any of her nonsense, he actually called her out for any rubbish she came out with and she started to realise that she had feelings for him, he was honest and he was kind and she knew that he would keep her safe no matter what.
Nelly has made hi feel like a new man she is simply wonderful, she is full of curves and sass and he cannot help the way that he feels about her and very well hidden she has a very vulnerable side, she needs help and protection and also a good deal of protecting.
Their relationship is moving so fast and it is obvious that they are falling in love but she is very wary and so is he,
A wonderful read you will enjoy every moment of.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

I love the Perished Riders MC! Jane is a favorite Author of mine. I can always count on her to bring the steam, along with territorial foul-mouthed biker's, who would do anything for their club and women. Ghost is no different. When he knows, he knows. I like, but also feel a little crazy about how fast he wants everything to go.

About the book:
Elyse is the bartender for the club. She loves her job, and feels as though she is where she needs to be in life. When her parents come into town, and request to meet her, Elyse freaks out. What reader's will soon find out, is that there is a lot of trauma, headache, embarrassment, and uncertainty when it comes to Elyse. She needs to find a date, a fiancee, to bring to her parents dinner because she is no longer with the guy her parents think. Ghost gets volunteered for the job.

What starts out as meaningless time, becomes a heated exchange between Ghost and Elyse. Elyse's parents like Ghost, but have no clue he is a biker. What Ghost realizes is that he wants to be in Elyse's presence, and he finds himself seeing her for who she is.

Elyse knows that she needs to work on her esteem, and telling the truth when it comes to all things her parents. She does not want anyone to hurt, or be hurt because of her.
Readers, I recommend this book.

🌶️🌶️🌶️

Book 4 in The Perished MC series was simply page turning and we all devoured it within a few hours, we were hooked. This story belongs to Ghost and Nelly, which actually came as a shock for us, and their journey towards their HEA.

Nelly, Nelly, Nelly, that poor heroine. She has been through so much, from child to teenager to young adult and it’s about time she got treated as a princess. Insert Ghost here. Nelly needs a fake fiancé, a lucky for her Ghost was born to play that part (rather reluctantly). We love this trope and Ghost and Nelly pulled it off so well, with a few minor road bumps along the way.

This book made us cry. It broke our hearts. Our poor Nelly. Jesus bless her. That girl deserves the world, she deserves to feel beautiful and cherished and loved. When Ghost fell, he fell hard and there was no stopping him making her is o’l lady.

The heartbreak and trauma Nelly went through though, we just want to hug her and tell her she’s a beautiful young woman.

Please ensure you check the trigger warnings first if you have any, because, without spoiling too much, there are some serious triggers in this book.

We seriously can’t recommend these books enough, we are flying through them and just want more.

Up next is Dice, and we can’t wait to see who his o’l lady will be.

Love the Perished Rider series! Like many of the books in the series, Ghost and Nelly's story has very dynamic and flawed charicters: Ghost makes impulsive and hot-headed decisions which push Nelly away and feed into her insecurities that their relationship is not ready for the next step; while Nelly's lies feed on each other and create issues for Ghost and her family.

Loved:
- Plot twists that keep you on your toes.
-Harriet, given her role in the relationship is actually quite mature, likeable, and most importantly, wants Nelly and Ghost's relationship to succeed.
-Active roles of the other MC members and their families in the story! I cant wait for Dice or Rosey's books.

Didn't enjoy as a reader:
-Nellys lies were not resolved. There were things she lied about that didnt make sense or just weren't resolved.
-Unfortunately, as much as i love the series, all the books have a surprise I would have preferred if some of the couples had more than a few months to establish themselves without a kid in the mix.

Overall, great read and can't wait for the next one!

Ok, what can I say now?
Loved the enemies to lovers theme, loved Ghost's interaction with Harriett so the other woman drama was spot on. Completely Loved Nelly as well. Everything was fine until the SA and how it was handled afterwards.

I mean she was roofied and I don't feel Ghost groveled enough. It just was NOT enough. He left her to go to attend to Harriett (no problem with that as it gave way to the drama to unfold) but he should have been devastated and apologize more than 10000 times, because she was assaulted when HE LEFT HER. So that part of the story felt flat.

Everything else flowed perfectly flawed, considering this is a MC romance and the characters are not wired to think with a solid head on their shoulders.

Also Augusta??? What the hell girl? I liked her reaction but again I would have liked to see her facing consequences. This is a romance realm but since redemption and apologies are not part of the real life, I want to at least read this here.

All in all, I recommend this book, despite the flaws.

★★ ghost & nelly stars!

Oy vey! How I wish this read hit the way it should've.

The potential was there!! This could've easily been a 5 star had the execution of this story been better.

Nelly annoyed me a lot of the conflict caused? Could've been prevented if homegirl simply SPOKE UP. But I get! Gotta do it for the angst..

The angst was decent could've been great. I REFUSE to believe this book was recommended on a Facebook group specifically for grovel reads.

Because BABY THE GROVEL LACKED SOOOO BAD.

Im sorry tooooooooo much shit happened and not enough accountability or grovel was had! An I typically tend to be a bit lenient when it comes to MC books, but no. I needed more.

Also this read was very insta everything..

I liked ghost more than Nelly even tho he was a little pushy.

For a quick read it was ight. nothing spectacular to write home to your friends about 😩 which sucks because I really liked grim.

2/10 more than likely not recommending.

Ghost is book 4 of ‘The Perished Riders MC’ series and tells the story of Ghost, aka Eric, and Nelly. When Nelly needs a fake boyfriend for some family functions, Ghost is nominated by the Prez to accompany her, much to his disgust. What a great addition to the series. The book is as usual, well written, the storyline is a real emotional rollercoaster from start to finish! I literally could not put this book down but also dreaded coming to the end of this totally enthralling and entertaining story.

I am absolutely obsessed with the members of the Perished Riders MC and hope there will be many more stories to follow. I can feel a re-read of the entire series coming on. An excellent 5 star, highly recommended read!.

This is the fourth book in this amazing series, and this is Ghost and Nelly’s journey. Nelly is vulnerable, and she works in a bar which the Perished Riders own, and when she needs a fake boyfriend for a few family dates, the President of the MC ask Ghost to help her out. These two have hardly spoken o each other, but the more time they spend together their feelings towards each other change. When Nelly’s past comes back to haunt her, Ghost is determined to do whatever he must to keep her safe and protected. This is a week written story which is fast paced, and with drama, emotions, twists, combustible chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining and compelling page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all MC lovers.

Oh my! What can I say..

Let’s start with saying that it took me around 2 hours from start to finish with this book. For me it’s a real page turner! Then if you don’t want to risk spoilers stop reading!

Ghost and Nelly is a pair I didn’t see command hadn’t thought about. This I the fourth book in this series and my favorite this far have been Scar. But when Ghost came, he’s up there with his brother. Ghost is not messed up but he manages to mess up. He also manage to set things straight! He is possessive and an alpha. It’s from zero to 200 in a few seconds. Just like I like it!
Nelly wants everyone else to feel good so she takes the blame for so much that’s not on her. I feel so much with her so I cried.

Once again Nicola knocked it out of the park! I love this series so much and this newest installment exceeds expectations. The characters are well developed. The story is captivating from the beginning and doesn't ever slow down. I devoured the book in a morning and can't wait for a reread of the entire series. The thing I love the most about Nicola's books are they are all unique stories - she does not write with a formula. They have have clever, unique, and intriguing story lines. I highly recommend this book, however it is part of a series and although could be read as a stand alone is so much better in the context of the series. I love everything Nicola has ever written and Ghost and Nelly's story is amazing!

This was an amazing read from a new author to me but i absolutely love how these two totally polar opposites characters ended up being thrown together but they clashed a little in the beginning then the temperature totally changed, and it ended up being a thrilling ride.

Nelly goes to a close friend who happens to be the MC's Prez Old Lady and needs a favor a fake boyfriend to get the heat off of her with her parents because she was currently single, but they think she is engaged but both men in past relationships wanted the one thing she didn't think she could give them.

Ghost ended up falling for Nelly because he ended up taking his task as fake boyfriend seriously and fell for her, but will this end well, or will they hurt each other in the end?
