From amulets, flying carpets and magic wands to cold fusion generators and ray guns, magical tools have always fascinated the popular imagination. They also fascinate mages, for they can actually make these daydreams real. But the universe no longer accepts powerful magic. Where wizards once forged swords that could cleave mountains, now they must be content with remote-control cars. Or must they...? Can Paradox be thwarted long enough to once more allow the forging of weapons of old?
Wielded with Awakened Will
Forged by Dragon's Fire is a book of Wonders, presenting advanced creation rules for Artifacts and Inventions, Charms and Gadgets, Fetishes, Periapts, Talismans and Devices and more. Also included are expanded rules for Familiars, companion spirits manifest in flesh who hold a key to piercing the Storm that rages between the worlds.
Possibly the RPG book with the most awesome name ever, this is a very useful book for creating items and getting a few new one.
Unfortunately, the rules feel as if they tried to maintain the "original" simplified rules of what constitutes a Wonder and then their own example wonders contradict the rules they give in the same book -- and they don't explain basic information (like how many "pre-rolled" successes can one store, etc).
For example, Unbullets. Unbullets are charms and apparently, charms aren't rolled. But Unbullets heal 6 points Lethal. Why 6 points? Was it because they were crafted by someone with Arete 3? Would someone with Arete 4 would be able to go up to 8 points?
A book that leaves more questions than answers them can't, alas, be something I give a 4\5 rating star. And taking into consideration that the rules for the crafting are mostly "Do the same as for that other wonder except easier\harder", I am not impressed.
