I left Vermont on the most painful day of my life and swore I’d never go back. Meadows Park–the shuttered amusement park that’s been in my family for generations–is the home of all my finest and worst memories. They all star Peter Landry–the best friend I ever had, and the only guy I’ve ever loved.

But then my eccentric grandfather buried two million dollars on the propert

Rachel Ember is one of my favourite authors, and I think she’s one of the most under appreciated MM romance authors around. Her “Wild Ones” series is the most beautifully captivating series I’ve ever read.

This standalone within the new “In Vino Veritas”series revolves around Peter & Riley, childhood best friends who grew to love each other, but were separated at 18 due to a m

Another gorgeous entry in the latest series of expanded World of True North books.

Here we get a second chance romance between two likable young men who had a falling out eight years earlier and who are brought back together under somewhat strained circumstances.

We've briefly met Peter in Aaron's book, but we only got a glimpse of the man he was projecting - Harvard graduate lawyer, assured and direct. But that's not even remotely close to the truth and Rachel Ember slowly peels back the insecuri

Wonderland was a sweet second chance , childhood friends to lovers romance. Since they were kids Riley and Peter had a bond like no other. Their friendship was everything to them, so when it turned out they both realized they were attracted to each other as well, it seemed natural for them to progress to the physical. But we all know teenage romances don't always last and after an unfortunate accident, everything came crashing down. Riley, the hot head of the couple, takes off from his beloved M ...more

Honestly, I cried, multiple times. First love, a scared kid, and heartbreak pulled these two apart for 8 years.

They had such a special friendship and relationship when they were young. Inseparable every summer. Roaming free amongst the abandoned rides of Riley’s grandfather's closed Park. It was magical. But one night changed everything.

Neither have really forgotten, or have fully moved on, but didn’t really realize how much it held them back until they both found themselves back in Burlington,

I'm such a sucker for second-chance romances. I'm even more of a sucker for unique plots, when they work, and Rachel Ember has certainly created a unique story with Wonderland that worked well for me. If I've ever read another romance set in an abandoned amusement park, I've forgotten it.

I loved this sweet, low-angst novel that features a forgetful grandfather, buried treasure, and a giant tortoise.

Part of the Vino and Veritas shared-world series, Wonderland can absolutely be read as a standal

I absolutely loved this story. Second chances is one of my favorite tropes and I absolutely adored both Peter and Riley.

I loved watching them work together and discover that they still very much loved one another. Their relationship wasn’t perfect, they fought and butted heads, but that made them and their story all the more real.

This story featured some great secondary characters, as well. I wasn’t so sure about Riley’s grandpa, Gene, at first, but he turned out to be great. I also lo

This book has everything: gorgeous atmosphere, characters you fall in love with, a premise that pulls you in immediately, and a setting so real you feel like you're living in the pages of the book. From the first paragraph, I was fully invested in Riley and Peter and their struggles. By the second chapter, I was just as invested in Lemon, the tortoise, who steals the show every time they step onto the page. Seriously, though--do not miss this read. Peter and Riley's journey together is a beautif ...more
There’s something special about a well done second chance romance, and Wonderland was exceptionally good when it comes to that. Part of the True North universe spin-off series, In Vino Veritas, Wonderland features a little bit of character overlap but reads just as well as a standalone. I definitely was intrigued to learn more about Peter when he first appeared as a secondary character in another of the books from the series. Even so, I could not have predicted just how much this story would cap ...more

I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest opinion.
A wonderful story with lively characters who connect in a meaningful way through a shared history, passionate chemistry and a quest to save a family legacy.
Thoroughly enjoyable with just enough tension to leave the reader on the edge of our seat.

I’m trying to figure out how to describe what I felt while reading this lyrical, sexy, funny book. It was like the book hugged me, maybe? Or that I just really felt invested in the characters? Or that I just wanted to move in with them? I felt GOOD. I had a smile. It tugged at my heart and I wanted to just keep reading and reading. I’ve never read a book like this or with this premise and I highly recommend you read it stat.

Wonderland is like eating your favorite dessert, every scene is simply delicious. Rachel fills the chapters with beautiful visuals and smart dialogue. Every single word pulls you more and more into the story and more and more in love with the characters. Peter and Riley's longing for each other is palpable and when they give in... *fireworks*. Oh and Grandpa Gene is a total scene-stealer. This second chance story is sweet perfection. ...more

Riley ran away from Vermont years ago on the most painful day of his life. He never expected to go back there. Nor did he expect to see Peter, his first love and probably the only one he ever truly loved. But when his grandfather needs his help, he can't say no. So he returns home to Meadow Parks, the closed small amusement park that has been in his family for generations and where he fell in love with Peter. His grandfather is in worse shape than he thought and not only that, but his grandfathe

This is the fifth book in this series and I would recommend them all - and do go and catch up on the original Vino e Veritas collection because every book adds to the wonderful group of people living in Burlington, Vermont.

Riley is back in town, and finds that his grandfather has more than just health problems - he has forgotten where he hid his lottery win, and the tax man is not going to wait much longer. Already nerv

This is a story that reads a little like a treasure hunt wrapped up in a fairy tale. I found myself wondering about Peter’s story as he was introduced/present in Counterpoint. It definitely didn’t disappoint. Peter and Riley have a beautiful shared history in this magical place that provides a backdrop for their second chance romance. It’s easy to see why Peter was hanging around a certain book store in VT—His heart knew where it needed to be. These two together have quite a journey, and it pull ...more

Another wonderful tale by one of my favourite authors. This is a beautifully sweet second chance story of Riley and Peter with all the emotions. It is a sweet, sexy, fun feel good read in one of my favourite weekend getaway locations.

A bit of (predictable) mystery, but I liked the internal angst but that that didn't keep them apart.

Truth telling had to be spilt. Great tortoise. Lots of help at the end.

One more to go.

If a book could have an out-of-body experience, Rachel Ember’s Wonderland would be an example of the phenomenon. This fantastical, magical story centers on former childhood best friends Riley Meadows and Peter Landry, who improbably end up reuniting over a search for a missing two million dollars of lottery winnings that are buried somewhere within a derelict, defunct amusement park owned by eccentric, semi-reclusive Gene Meadows, Riley’s Grandpa. The story comes complete with exotic

Wonderland truly deserves gold for having the most unique premise in this series! This story revolves around Peter (Aaron's friend from law school that we meet in Counterpoint) and Riley Meadows. Riley's grandpa who was his most stable and caring family member growing up was best friends with Peter's uncle so the two spent many a summer together when they were younger on the land that Grandpa Meadows owned. It was home to an old amusement park that had been closed down for many years even at

Riley Meadows has come home to Vermont since his Grandfather needs him even if he is not sure exactly why. He left eight years ago after an incident with his best friend and first love and has not been back. But now the object of the guilt he has felt is also back in town.

Peter Landry went to law school and did what he intended. But he is now least temporarily until he figures out what he really wants to do. But he is still hurt and a bit angry over events from the past.

Sweet second chance romance with hot sexy time.

I love a good second chance story and it’s a double treat when it’s childhood friends-to-lovers. Riley and Peter were nearly inseparable during the summers that Riley spent with his grandfather, Gene. Gene owns the property where the former amusement park, Wonderland, was located, near Burlington VT. Wonderland was shut down years before Riley came around and he and his grandfather had big plans to reopen it. Peter lived in Burlington and his uncle

A second chance at love with your estranged best friend, man did Peter and Riley deserve that chance!

I really enjoy Rachel Ember's writing and I'm so glad she has written a book in the Vino Veritas series. I really enjoyed Wonderland, everything about it made for an engaging read. I loved both Peter and Riley and was cheering them on from the get-go. As the reason for their estrangement slowly gets uncovered, I liked the way they were both able to communicate easier and forgive each other for w

Wonderland is a second chance romance for Riley and Peter, both back in Burlington after several years away. Riley is called back to help his grandpa and Peter has come back after finishing law school at Harvard. They didn't part under good circumstances but are near instantly drawn back together, following the pull they e both felt since spending summers together in their teens at Riley's grandpa's old park.
Now they work together to help out grandpa whilst their chemistry slowly builds back up

I loved this book! The author has given us a great addition to the new, In Vino Veritas series, and two adorable main characters in Riley and Peter. As teenagers, they were best friends and spent all their summers together until they were 18 when misunderstanding and fear drove them apart, and they both left town. Now, 8 years later, Riley has been called back to Vermont to take care of his grandfather after a health scare, and Peter, who was set to become a top lawyer until he became disillusio ...more

This is part of the In Vino Veritas shared world, it could easily be read as a standalone though. I adored this book, it's a second chance, best friends to lovers with an abandoned amusement park, crotchety grandpa and scene stealing tortoise thrown in.

Seriously, Lemon the tortoise has excellent comic timing and steals each scene they're in 😂. The book is pretty great too, I loved Peter and Riley's story with the abandoned park and Riley's grandfather. I have a great fondness for crotchety old

There's something absolutely magical about this book that grabs you and just doesn't let go. From the outset, I fell in love with the characters, with the premise, with the place, everything! Riley completely tugged on my heartstrings and I wanted to give him a huge hug. He and his grandpa were hilarious together with their bickering but there were some really heart breaking moments too. Wonderland is one of the books in this years Vino & Veritas multi author series. It is told from both Peter and Riley their POV and is a friends to lovers mm romance with both a bi and gay main character.

Second chance romances are my jam, and this one is really sweet. Riley and Peter have strong childhood-friends-become-more energy, as well as the requisite wrong turn and resulting baggage that necessitates the second chance in the first place. There’s a deftly woven narrative here, one that shows pieces of who our main characters used to be and gives a sense of the depth of feeling and history between them while also very much centering who they are now and the potential of their new moment.
