If you thought animal extinction was an issue in national parks or the wild, think again.
There’s an animal extinction apocalypse happening in your neighbourhood. Urban areas are home to 46% of endangered animals and cities like London, New York and Mumbai are each home to dozens of endangered species. This thought-provoking book by a teenager shows that we need not be mute bystanders to this wave of extinction but can play an active role in this war to bring these animals, and our world, back from the brink of ecological collapse.
Did you Shutting off all lights at your home at night can save ten birds a year? Taking one stray cat off the streets can save almost 3000 endangered animals over five years? Adopting a 25% vegetarian diet can save 70 marine animals a year?
Filled with other such everyday steps you can take in your home and communities and supplemented with inspiring case studies of how other communities have come together to transform their ecosystems, this book will provoke and inspire you to join in this struggle to bring countless animals, and our world, back from the brink.
About the Aaditya Sengupta Dhar was born in Singapore, lived in Bangkok and now Mumbai. This helps him appreciate how similar values are across boundaries. He believes building bridges and tapping into shared values will create a kinder, better world.
Excelling in school is important, however, he believes being a good person is more important than just being a good student. Inspired by the plight of migrant workers during COVID, he wrote an eBook called Underdogs to raise awareness about underprivileged children, donating all sale proceeds to Save The Children India.
He loves reading, inspiring him to create his own stories. His first novel, Secret Tails, was published in 2019. His second book, Underdogs, in 2020. A short story of his about bridging prejudices across boundaries won 1st Prize in the 2021 Global Storytelling Festival organised by The Melton Foundation. His next book, Legend of the Broken Blade, a fantasy novel, is coming later in 2022. Outside of school and writing, he is an avid Cricket fan and holds a Black Belt in Karate.
He would like to help create a better tomorrow through his writing, ideas and by championing causes he is passionate about. He’s only 13, but as his favourite author, J.R.R Tolkien said, “Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.”
Studies show that animals are disappearing hundreds of times the normal rate, and the primarily cause for this is shrinking habitats.
However what is quite alarming is that the main and sole reason behind this existence crisis and the biggest threat for the animals is none other than human beings.
Extinction, or the permanent loss of species as it is called, is supposed to be a natural process, but our undue and unnecessary influence have pushed them to the brink, hence, it is very much important that proper steps are taken before things get worse than what they already are.
In this regard, ‘Back from the Brink - Join the War against Animal Extinction’ by author Aaditya Sengupta Dhar is a great book that has useful tips that we all can embrace as a whole.
Whilst reading the book, we realize that the steps thay have been forementioned are not something for which we would be required to go out of the way and do it, but rather are the undertakings that can be easily adopted in our day to day activities.
Not only that, but the book also has the quality to create awareness and invoke a sense of culpability, which in turn will compel the readers to act responsibly and with proper care towards the ecosystem which we all are a part of. Hence I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book is a call to action. I started reading and thought it would be a story. Its not a story, this book written by a young kid on basis of his experience and observations. Je has collected the facts, arranged in form of a thoughtful process to read and then submitted in form of a book. I honestly think that we all should come across once in a while book like this.. so that we can think about our mother nature. Otherwise there is a hefty price of being ignorant.

We are standing at the brink, but we don't realise it. This book 📖 attempts to enlighten us on a crucial topic & do something about it. Every small step, effort in the right direction matters. It is divided into 3 sections; The War in the Skies, Land and at Sea.
Someone needs to solve this problem, someone needs to do something abt it..but who?
The author is mere 13 yrs old! The bibliography given at the end of the book is expansive & am impressed gauging the author's circumference of thought & action.
He talks about some amazing case studies, efforts that worked, how they can be improved and also gives new ideas & insight for innovative ways to help our planet, at large.
I am bewildered at the extreme research undertaken by the author to write this book. The steps are doable and each one of us can contribute towards it in our own way..but every effort counts.
It’s very easy for us to sit and discuss about the topics like animal extinction. We complain that no one is bothered about the species which have become extinct or about to be extinct. But how many of us really explored the ways to save these species. This book is a bold step in this direction. 🌸 Plot - “Back from the Brink” here you can see that the title itself explains the untold story. The book is a plight to save the endangered species. It might be a tiny butterfly or a huge elephant, each one is an integral part of the ecosystem. The extinction of any of these will dis balance the ecosystem. Though we all know this but how many of us are putting an effort to solve this issue. Many times we want to solve the problem genuinely but we don’t know how to proceed , where to start ? This book not only inspires but also paves a path to move in the right direction. 🌸 The book consists of three major segments . Each segment deals with the case study of a particular species. Like the reason of extinction and then how they were saved. Thé author is only of 13 years but when we read the content it leaves you astonished that how in such a young age he could come up with so much of information . His passion to work towards this goal is very well clear after going through the data and the analysis of case studies . I was totally naive about this topic . For me the species are becoming extinct because the environmental conditions are not supporting them and in such situation we all look towards the NGO’s to come forward . But in this book author has discussed cases were it was just an one man army initially and slowly people joined and it became a huge drive . The author has done deep research in collecting the data and his conviction is being reflected in the presentation of the book. The best part about the book is that it is filled with many such everyday steps which we can follow in our surroundings and can inspire and motivate people to come up as a team to bring back countless animals from the brink. It’s a must read for each one of us who want to save the planet for the upcoming generations.

✍️Back from the Brink written by double Aaditya Sengupta Dhar is a informative book and at the age of 14 years old the is a little professional.
✍️The book is rich in knowledge and illustration, is engaging and captivating, and provides all the information you could ever require on the biodiversity of planet Earth. The chapters are well laid out, allowing you to dip in if you wish or read straight through.
✍️I don't know if it's my slightly nihilistic attitude coming through but sentences that jumped out at me whilst reading were
".....humanity is ecologically abnormal............."
✍️I just laid out what actually I understand there is more this kid talked about in this book like a vegetarian diet can save sea animals and there is much more.
✍️In other words, humanity sucked the life of other species from the Earth.
✍️I wonder if kids of the future will see tigers, lions, wolves, elephants, gorillaz, etc. the same way we have seen dinosaurs, mammoths and saber-toothed tigers--only in cartoons and movies.
✍️I've never been an environmentalist. I've always had a bizarre confidence in it-is-what-it-is and a lack of sentimentality, but that has changed because of this book. I am sad for these animals and for their habitats. I am sad that we're the ones that did this and that we're still doing it.
✍️This book is really, really lovely; it broke my heart, but I couldn't stop reading once I started.
✍️I doubt this review will sway many of you to read this book. That’s okay. I often like to read book reviews as a substitute for reading books, which is why I waxed long on details. Even a schematic level of knowledge is enough sometimes to inspire an individual to take constructive actions at different levels.
Back from a brink is not just a book it is truly a revolution indeed. I picked up the book just yesterday and I couldn’t simply put it down. There is so much to learn and with such vivid detailing, how can one simply turn his face from awareness. As we are all aware that human activities along with urbanisation are disrupting our ecosystem on daily basis. Most of the species are on the brink of extinction. But the more important question is how do we make this situation better?
And here comes the heroic appearance of this book. Throughout the book, the author has narrated how human activities are destroying every tree and every wave in the ocean. The amount of pollutants we are degenerating is killing our fellow inhabitants. But along with the problem the author has also presented the case studies that will display, how communities have joined forces to bring a change. How they saved the Monarch butterfly by planting milkweed, how they turned moonscape into a lively city again and how they started beach cleanup to bring a change. The book also focused on different strategies that we can apply in our daily life that can uplift the degrading situation. By simply putting a birdbath on our terrace to bring little changes in our diet. If the community of belonging and the determination of changes is firing up our souls then changes are bound to follow.
I would like to appreciate the work of the author. He is only 13 years old, but such extensive research he has conducted and filling it all in this book is truly a commendable job. His passion for the environment is reflected vividly as you are reading the book. I would like to extend my thanks for making us more aware of the ongoing situation. And voices like yours aren’t small, they are big enough to connect people and create a revolution.
📚❤️BOOK REVIEW ❤️📚 TITLE : BACK FROM THE BRINK AUTHOR : ADITYA SENGUPTA DHAR Publication : The Write Order Genre : Fiction Format : Paperback Pages : 140
Our planet now faces a global extinction crisis never witnessed by humankind. Scientists predict that more than 1 million species are on track for extinction in the coming decades. Each time a species goes extinct, the world around us unravels a bit. The consequences are profound, not just in those places and for those species but for all of us. These are tangible consequential losses, such as crop pollination and water purification, but also spiritual and cultural ones.
Although often obscured by the noise and rush of modern life, people retain deep emotional connections to the wild world. Wildlife and plants have inspired our histories, mythologies, languages and how we view the world. The presence of wildlife brings joy and enriches us all — and each extinction makes our home a lonelier and colder place for us and future generations.
This book shows this truth in front of us. The author, who is only 13 years old, has talked through this book about such an issue which we are well aware of but do not consider it necessary to pay attention to it. In this book, he has also mentioned some case studies which make us aware of the seriousness of this problem.
If we really want a better future for our coming generations, then we should now think about this issue very seriously and those around us should also do everything possible to save the animals in this environment of ours. I found the writing of the book very impressive and the effort of 13-year-old writer was very much appreciated. If you are a nature lover like me and the author, then definitely read such books and spread awareness around you.

Sometimes younger people can explain things and have thoughts much better and bigger than the olders.
This book has proved this. This book shares a lot of problems and reason of imbalance in our ecosystem which is written by only 13 year old Author Aditya Sengupta Dhar.
"Human are their own enemy" and it's true we are. We always forget that our every action comes with a consequence. Do we ever think about how our action are affecting lives of animals and birds. No because mostly we aren't even aware of how it affects them??
In this book Aditya had share all his knowledge, thought and worries related to our ecosystem. He also has given the reason and solutions for them.
Book is divided into 3 parts
1. War in the sky 2. War on the land 3. War in the sea

There is so much we aren't aware of but really need to know about!
And this book has so much to give!
Now, If the author can be this mature in such a young age then why can't we do show some maturity too.
I am going too share his thoughts and this book too all of my clg friends and my classmates bcos it deserves to be.
I got to learn so much from this book and kudos the little author for writing such a great book. How well he has written it ,the language used was lucid. It an eye opening book tbh!

🦩In the fast forwarded world, where no one has time for each other, we almost forgot how important our animal life is for our own existence. This is such an insightful read by a teenage author who has worked and researched about animal extinction and how one can actually take small measures to minimize it in all possible ways. I picked this book because it seemed very interesting and it proved to be extremely intriguing and at some points it was heartbreaking because I could see the end coming, our end coming because of your human actions. . . It's a very precise read, that is written in a way that narrates the most forgotten topic, I really loved the initiative and I think not just readers but everyone should read it. I feel especially the youth of the country should understand the importance and role of animals in our life and this book is exactly everything that needs to be heard. . . Right from the very first page, you know you're reading something that's extremely important and impactful. The case studies will bring you in close contact with hard hitting realities and I feel this is an opportunity to understand of how even now we can save ourselves by saving animals. Such an amazing book, I will definitely recommend it. Are you ready to join the war against animal extinction? A war to bring our world back from the brink. . . Definitely recommended, go for it. . Ratting: 4.5⭐️
This book is about the global extinction crisis which has taken over the world and was never witnessed before by humankind. It presents the harsh reality in the face of the ever changing and evolving world. For a fact, scientists have predicted that more than 1 million species are on the track of extinction in the coming decades which sounds as horrific as it is. When we hear about endangered species, what mostly comes into our minds is big majestic animals like elephants, rhinos, tigers, etc. But the truth is, there are many more animals whose populations have dwindled over the past few decades.
This book is written for all the readers to spread the information in a easy and lucid language. Starting from the root of the problem to how majorly it can affect the mother Earth, this book proofs to lay the foundation for saving the world's biodiversity. Protecting our environment and its inhabitants is currently everyone’s obligation. This book on endangered species will help us better understand the crisis we face and find ways to revert the trend.
There is still some time with us to stop this massive crisis and change the course of the destruction. Each time a species go extinct, the earth goes through some major changes which are not sudden but gradual. As mentioned earlier, knowing about these endangered species is one step towards saving them. It's a must read.
“Even the smallest person can change the course of the future” - JRR Tolkien
The title speaks for itself. If you thought animal extinction was an issue in national parks or the wild, think again.
Did you know that adopting a 25% vegetarian diet can save 70 marine animals a year? Shutting off all lights at your home at night can save ten birds a year. Taking one stray cat off the streets can save almost 3000 endangered animals over five years.
This is a non-fiction book based on the severe topic of animal extinction. But it is easy to say instead of doing it. Talking or writing about a serious topic like in a book might seem easy, but on every hand, it is difficult to change the human race just by talking about it. We all need a good and healthy environment, whether for the human race or animals.
I appreciate the young author's effort to write about such an important issue as animal extinction. It demonstrates the younger generation's kinship interest in saving animals and caring for a bright future. However, just picking up some case studies from the past won’t be able to bring much change in the current situation. The book is broken up into a number of sections that discuss various viewpoints and steps that can be performed to prevent the extinction of animals. It focuses on human habits or behaviors in daily life and how to manage those behaviors to prevent the end of animals.

This book is divided into three parts.
The war in the skies.
The war on land.
The war at sea.
In this book, the author has explained global problems. One million plants and animal species are at risk of cessation.
That's 40% of all amphibians and a third of marine mammals and 50% of insect species.
It is quite commendable that this book has been written by a 13-year-old child. Our small actions can save us from the coming global problem.
" We, as common people, through small, everyday actions, can become conservationists in our own right through small steps and actions. "
In this book, the author has given many solutions. He also started many projects. The author wrote this book so that all of us can also read about global problems. He has explained many such things which harm our birds, plants, and animals. In this, the author has also discussed case studies. And it has also been told what we should reduce. What to reuse, What to Recycle, and What to Rescue? And how can we keep our city clean like Vengurla's citizens?
Overall a nice book, from which we can get sufficient knowledge and can get a ton of advice. If you like to read about the environment, then you can read it.
Title: Back From The Brink Author: Aaditya Sengupta Dhar
Review:
“Back From The Brink” by Aaditya Sengupta Dhar brings forth the issue of development and urbanization that has caused a serious misbalance in the ecosystem resulting not only in climate change but also threatening the lives of hundreds of living creatures who have absolutely no contribution to this impending catastrophe.
Divided in three parts, the book showcases the plight of innumerable species around the world because of irresponsible and cruel intervention of humans on earth. It also captures the story of small initiatives and efforts that have helped in bringing back the endangered species back from the brink of extinction and has made significant and sizeable difference in countering the ecological issues that plague our times. It also offers genius ideas to reclaim what has been lost or to mitigate the dangers that cloud our ecosystem.
Overall, written in a simple and lucid language, “Back From The Brink” is truly an inspiring, thought provoking and resourceful guidebook that can help us in transforming our ecosystem for happy and healthy life on planet earth. A must read for everyone.

Most importantly this book is pen down by way of a 13 years boy. Hats off to the author and congratulate to him.
Language of the e-book is lucid. Also the duvet is properly designed. Overall, I anticipate in case you love truth reading or you love non fiction you could without a doubt move for it.
It is always quite heartwarming to see that our young generation is much more aware and concerned about the acute crisis our planet is into. However, it is also sad at the same time, because these young minds, these innocent souls have a lot more empathy than the people in power - the people who could actually do something to remedy the situation. In this situation, the impetus lies on us to do everything in our stride to save the planet and its inhabitants who cannot speak and who do not exploit the planet like us humans. This book by a young mind, Aditya Sengupta Dhar, sheds light on such an important issue of saving the animals - endangered or otherwise. Aditya has talked out various approaches we can adopt that would ensure that each one of us is able to save a considerable chunk of the animal population. The steps are fairly easy and do not alter our day-to-day lives to a huge extent. One small change in our lifestyles can bring a havoc change in the planet. The book is sentimental, emotional, hard-hitting and most importantly, educational. This book is the need of the hour. I would urge everyone to read this book and mend their ways if they want to leave an inhabitable planet for the future generations. Happy reading!
So, this book basically speaks about how we going nearer to the day of ecological collapse. The more we are moving towards modernization, and an urban society, the more we harm our environment. With the growing population of the world, innumerable forest are being cut down to make space for human living, by intentionally ignoring the fact that this will cause a major hazard to our nature, to the animals, to the birds that has been living in that forest for so long now. Uncountable animals, birds, and ocean creatures are killed on a daily basis just to feed us, being killed so that their skin can be sold out in form of expensive clothes, bags, or anything in fashion.
I was shocked when i searched about the author, he is quite young. And his deep concerns regarding environment are applauding. I loved how he has presented his ideas and thoughts through the book. This work for sure needs to be read by as many people as possible. For sure our environment is being ruined each second we living. But we must stand for saving it. We do need to care for animals and their habitats. The author has done a well deep research in penning down thia book. Written in a very lucid language. He has given several easy ways in which we can be little helpful towards saving our nature.
“We don’t own the planet Earth, we belong to it. And we must share it with our wildlife”.
The 126 pages long the book at hand primarily deals with the issue of animal extinction and makes us realize that the threat perception of the same is real and lays bare certain relevant facts which are capable enough to open our eyes, subject to the fact that only if we are willing to do the same.
Delving further, the book has been divided into certain parts and the first part of the book starts with the aspect of electricity and what are the implications of its usage on birds at large and thus creating a war on skies.
As we go further, the author verily in a brief fashion delineates other aspects of animal extinction and also educates the readers about how the same can be avoided with the help of a solution-oriented approach.
The writing style of the book has been kept simple and easy to understand and considering the age of the author, a sincere approach has been opted by him to sensitize an entirety of generation as to the grave reality and thus making it a must-read for anyone willing to go for an eye-opening read.
The book is all about the ecosystem. How man made urbanisation affects natural flora and fauna on the earth.
The vast artificial changes are extensively man made leading to disturbance in the balance of life and threatening of many animal and plant spcies altogether.
Author mention some facts and figures which blows one mind that how the materialistic things affect natural habitat. the endangered species need to be protect and some small changes mention can bring bigger results.
Shutting off all lights in your home at night can save 10 birds a year only by adopting around 25 % of Vegetarian diet can save 70 marine animals in year.
Climate change and other environmental factors. the factors affecting the ecosystem can be controllable and by helping endenger species.
Back from the Brink is really , inspiring , important topic to be focused on.
like War on Land War on Sea War on sky
Case studies given in between book are icing on cake. Butterfly effect and Reduce Reuse Recycle Rescue are few of the most intresting topic i enjoyed a lot.
This book accounts an important issue - Animal extinction. The world has been changing every single day ever since it was created, in many different ways. Although, lately, in the area of animal extinction, these changes haven’t been for the better. These changes have caused unfortunate incidences raising the amount of species extinction in a dangerously significant way. Even though species extinction is a natural process in our world and is something that is bound to occur, the unnecessary things causing extinction need to be slowed down and prevented as much as possible, because this is harmful to humans, the world may end up with little to no animals in the near future due to lack of human awareness, and this is something that people can stop. The author has also shared some relevant case studies. With the innovative techniques given in this book based on research and data we can save endangered species. It's really an informative and eye-opening book. This book is worth reading. The language is reasonable and understandable.
