This was a pretty amazing story. I think it’s the best novella I’ve read. It was better than some full length books I’ve read and I mean, I don’t think that’s an easy thing to achieve in like 100 pages.
The characters, especially Piper are so well developed.
The plot makes sense, it’s gripping and the premise is interesting to say the least.
Basically, I love this book and I will continue to read more Ruby Dixon. She’s known for her alien smut but her books are always so well written and she never disregards plot or character development in favour of superficial steam and smut.

She’s an enigma-which we later learn is due to a fairly good knack for survival. She’ll be whatever she needs to be to get from one day to the next. And that’s fucking depressing.
He’s all rock hard rough edges with a defensive sense of humor. But you know underneath all that, there’s a delightful gooey center just waiting to melt. (My favorite.)
My 3rd alien book and all 3 are so totally different. I certainly didn’t expect this one to be so overwhelmingly emotional. Nor did I think I’d feel such a strong connection to these characters in such a short period of time. Makes me curious what Ms Dixon can do with more pages.
It ended up being a beautiful, sometimes political story. Full of ups and downs and never a dull moment. And while the ending left me fulfilled I can’t help but wanting more of Piper and Vordigar.

The heroine: Piper - she does what she has to do to survive. She is a human woman alone on an alien planet. She is desperate to save her farm and to do so, she needs a man from the jail to help her with what she needs.
The Hero: Vordigar - an escaped convict, hiding out from bounty hunters on Risda III, he is balled to jail by the local authorities. He is forced to share his cell with some farm animals and soon to be sent to an off world prison. He is offered the chance to stay on Risda III due to a marriage law, but he refuses after finding out his ‘bride’ was to be human.
The Story: Piper plays the dumb, naïve human in order to bribe the authorities by purchasing Vordigar as a slave. Though she immediately tells Vordigar of her plans in order to convince him to stay with her. She knows he is plotting escape and hopes to get what she needs from him before he does.
Jillian Macie and Mason Lloyd did the narration on this one, like the rest of the Risdaverse series. They are very good and their voices work well for this type of book. Though I must say I like duet narration much better than dual narration because I hate women doing men’s voices and vice versa. I like it best when the male narrator does all the male voices and the female does all the female voices. However, I will listen to the audiobook as long as there are two narrators. I rarely listen to books with only one.
I liked the story in this one a lot better than The Mail Order Bride. I liked that Piper is a strong woman doing her best to survive after her friend was killed. One thing I disliked about this book and The Mail Order Bride was that both the male characters have badly scarred faces. I don’t know why author’s do that. Why have a scarred or ugly (as both male characters described themselves). When you could write a gorgeously handsome man. I mean he can have scars on the body if you want a scarred character, but why mar their pretty faces?

Piper is an admirable character; she is a true survivor.
Vordigar is not actually so different than your average alpha male;
He is only blue; his face is scarred; additionally, he has horns and a tail.
Oh well, he also has a double-sized package down there. Keffing right.

fast paced and quick read
Just how I like ‘em, for the most part… I needed a few things from this one…
Vordigar’s in jail, again, for piracy and other illegal things. Well, he WAS in jail, escaped, and was captured again lol because he SHOULD’VE been in jail. A woman goes to the prison one day looking for “farmhands”. This small, cute, busty human’s going to be his ticket out, so he accepts.
Piper needs a husband, and a baby. Being human means she’s faced discrimination, prejudice, blackmail, violence, (r9p3) and she wants it to stop. The best thing she can think of to stop this from continuing is for her to get married, and she’s hoping Vordigar accepts 😅.
What I liked: possible spoilers
—the 🔥. I mean, duh 🤷🏻♀️🤣. Short and steamy equals a good time 😉. I loved that Vordigar notices the way Piper reacts when they’re going to be intimate and adjusts his actions (I’ll comment on this below). The fact that poor Piper doesn’t know what it’s like to experience pleasure is just plain sad ☹️, but it also made it extra special when it came to Vordigar’s 🔥 time
—the way he learns what she likes and how she likes it 💦😉. Sigh. I love that these aliens learn about kissing when they’re with their women ❤️. It makes it extra sensual 🔥, but it also means he learns what a cl1t is and now to use that to maximize the amount of Os she gets 😉 🥵
—how JP he is. Oh yeah 😈. I love how JP he gets when he notices others looking at her, but also
—how protective he is ❤️. He sees for himself the discrimination she has experiences
—how much of a modern woman Piper is 💅. Does she NEED a man? Not really 🤷🏻♀️. She can do anything and everything 😮💨; she needs the harassment to stop, which is why she’s going this route
—the epilogue ❤️ I love me some HEA future scenes 🥹
What I didn’t like: spoilers
—the scene where Vordigar realizes Piper’s been abused needed more (for me). When they’re about to do “it”, he sees how stiff she gets, how dry she is, and he continues. Yes, he makes sure she 💦 a few times first to make sure she feels pleasure, but I would’ve liked it *more* if he had stopped and asked for info on what happened to her. It’s easy to figure out based on her body language and what she has said (that she’s slept with others for various reasons, which is why she’s okay with Vordigar using her body in exchange for her to get a baby and hubby), but I definitely 😬 when he didn’t stop 😬
—better comeuppance on her stalk er/ harasser 😐. I appreciated the scene where Vordigar chooses *v10lence*, but I needed some more *permanent* consequences 👀🤷🏻♀️. Yeah. I said what I said 💅

Whew, this book legit made me cry. I guess I'm slightly surprised that Ruby Dixon "went there" with confronting the implications of the world that she's set up in this Risda series, but I'm glad she did. Piper was such a strong heroine, and it really moved me seeing her struggle to maintain her agency in an impossible situation. I do think there are plot holes here (based on how When She's Ready wrapped up, why hasn't the planet's lord stepped in to eliminate the situation that the heroine is in?), but still- I was genuinely moved by this one

This was cute and fast moving but troubling too. It’s apparent both characters have some deep, dark pasts but the book is too short to address either of them. I was a bit turned off by their first intimate scene. It’s made very obvious that the FMC has been violated in the past or used for sex, as she shuts down completely and goes inside her mind when they start to have sex. Now he notices right away and makes her look at him and show him what she likes so he can give her sexual pleasure too. But in reality, if a partner offers you sex but then retreats into themselves that badly, sex should stop. Just because he can then get her aroused doesn’t make the situation any better. She was obviously not ok with sex and just because he can bring forth arousal doesn’t cure her of all her history of brutal rape. Honestly I was uncomfortable and wanted the sex to stop at that point and then for them to try again when they knew each other better and had trust and affection for each other.
Because of the way sex was addressed I just leave this book feeling sad.

I loved this little story!!
Thank you, Giorgia, for puting it on my radar, because this book managed to create a sophisticated world, interesting story and some strong characters in under 100 pages!!
Sci-fi and smut, with love and all the emotions.
I'm definitely going to read more by the author, because the writing was extremely good, her characters felt real and I want more!

Hm, in brief, this was definitely not as good as the first book. The mmc was just not as dreamy and tender as Tassar (first book man), I didn't laugh as much, and I didn't love the whole pregnancy thing. The fmc wasn't particularly great either. Still cute though, but that's all.
“I should be the one thanking you.” He traces his fingers over my folds, grazing lightly over my clit in the way that makes my entire body dance. “You make me feel like I’m someone, Piper. I’m addicted to that.”
“You are someone,” I say, leaning in close. I want him to kiss me so badly that I’m aching. “You’re the kindest man I’ve ever met.”
“The kindest.” He snorts even as he teases my folds, working my body like a musical instrument. “You’re going to ruin my reputation.”
“The kindest…and you have the biggest dick,” I say, straight faced, and then break into giggles at the pleased expression on his face.
“Listen to that sweet laughter,” he murmurs as he traces circles around my clit, sending jolts of sheer pleasure through my body. “I love hearing you laugh. You deserve laughter every keffing day, Piper.”
“I’ll settle for kisses,” I say, touching his cheek. “If…if you don’t mind.”

Can you believe this is my FIRST Ruby Dixon story!? She is such a prolific KU author who is also a frequent member of my tbr pile, and I finally decided to dive in. This was an easy novella to get into, the characters were fleshed out and the story was multi-layered. There was plenty of angst, lust and eventually love, and I enjoyed every word. I will definitely be coming back to Dixon's many works!

So... I really liked Piper. She was a survivor but she wasn't bitter. I loved that she was capable and never behaved like a lust struck idiot.
Vordigar was okay but he spends the majority of the book planning to leave her (yes even after he realizes she is the one for him). It was a short time period but it just felt like he couldn't decide if he really cared about her. He doesn't come to his senses until after he sees that she wasn't exaggerating about the "I need to marry an alien so I am not murdered". He even
Ruby Dixon please stop with this The Handmaid's Tale: Alien Edition! Frankly it's just as problematic as THT is... And that is another review entirely so I will leave it alone.
Safe Completely- no virgins (but RD aliens don't kiss so she is his first), both celibate a long time. No Om/ow drama.

I can always count on Ruby Dixon for a good time. It’s nice to take a break from the ice planet and see what’s going on elsewhere in the universe she’s created. I’m already on to the next one!

The premise is that a group of human women are given farm plots on the plantet Risda after they are rescued from slavers. But then they are left on their own to survive where most species think of Humans as unimportant and easy prey.
To save herself, the h needs to find a big strong guy to marry and keep her safe by just not being human like her. She ends up with the H who is another universe reject, but of a species that is popular on the planet.
So the story dips it's toes into issues like prejudice and justice, but only in a mild way to keep the story interesting.
The H isn't interested at first, but it only takes a couple days for true love to win the day.
I liked the world building and both MCs were likeable and interesting.
It's a simple, brief story but nicely done.
Perfect for a quick shot of romance without having to commit to a long more involved story.

When She' s Married es una lectura genial si la inicias sabiendo lo que te vas a encontrar : un relato un tanto precipitado ( pero no menos entretenido ), sin mucha profundidad ( en ocasiones, quien necesita un exceso de profundidad? ) y agil de leer, es ideal para desconectar durante el confinamiento.
Se lee en una sentada, y aunque no recibira el premio a la novela de tu vida o del año, distrae mucho y no resulta aburrida o pesada de leer en ningun momento de sus 100 paginas.
Finalizando, una historia breve y recomendable para los fans de Ruby Dixon.

Mí humilde opinión:
Piper tiene su libertad y un lugar propio en dónde vivir en Risda III. Un planeta que se ha establecido como un santuario de esclavas humanas liberadas como ella. Pero ahora su libertad y todo lo que logró construir en su granja está en riesgo.
Hay aliens peligrosos matando a mujeres para quitarles sus tierras.
Ella no tiene otra salida que casarse y quedar embarazada para asegurar su granja. Necesita protección rápido.
Una amiga le habló de un mesakkah que podría ayudarla y se aventura a la cárcel del puerto para sacarlo de allí.
Utilizando sus encantos y una bolsa llena de créditos se lleva a un enorme alienígena azul con cicatrices y sonrisa burlona.
Vordigar es un ex convicto fugitivo y una escoria que escapó del planeta prisión.
Se estuvo escondiendo en Risda III hasta que fue capturado de nuevo por un cazarecompensas.
Pronto será deportado a Haven II, el lugar del que escapó. Una vez allí no habrá escapatoria. Lo mantendrán encerrado y nunca volverá a respirar aire fresco.
Mientras miserablemente espera la deportación al sistema penitenciario de Haven una humana aparece y lo compra como esclavo.
Sin poder creer su suerte ya está ideando formas de escapar de ella.
Entonces la humana le dice que necesita que se case con ella y la deje embarazada.
Ella es muy tentadora pero no puede aceptar su loca propuesta. Él no es granjero y necesita irse porque tiene un trabajo que le hará ganar rápido una fortuna.
La situación de Piper es desesperada pero la de él también.
Sin embargo, una noche en la cama con Piper y sus planes de marcharse se tambalean peligrosamente...
When she's Married es una lectura rápida y fácil pero con una trama que me tocó el corazón.
Piper es una mujer vulnerable pero con fuerza, fiereza para enfrentar lo malo y salir adelante. Me resultó difícil de leer por todo lo que pasó en su vida luego de ser esclava y admiré lo valiente que fue y seguía siendo intentando una vida mejor, sobrevivir en un planeta dónde los humanos son considerados mascotas y hacen lo que quieren con ellos. Me gustó mucho su personaje.
Al comienzo a Vordigar quería pegarle por tomarse a la ligera los problemas de Piper pero luego salió su vena protectora y mejoró.
Me gustó que él no fuera perfecto, rudo y con cicatrices. Que pareciera solo importarle su situación hasta que conoce más a Piper y no puede no ayudarla. A pesar de que se dice que se tiene que ir, dejarla.
Disfruté mucho con el desarrollo de este romance, cómo él se apega a ella sin quererlo. Fue muy dulce todo eso.
Este pequeño libro tuvo un giro con un alien azul que no aceptaba de inmediato a su compañera, le tomó tiempo.
Además hubo un drama más profundo ya que la autora muestra la triste situación de las humanas en el planeta.
Sin embargo, a pesar del tema triste, hay risas y momentos sexys, con un lindo final feliz para Piper. Adoré ese final.
Pensamiento aparte...
Será que RD traerá futuramente a los hermanos Va Sithai?

Hmm…I will be honest this one didn’t hit the mark with me. I think way too much of the h and H past was brought up in and out of intimate scenes. Some of it was necessary for the story (even appreciated for a healing narrative); the rest, however, was just grating.
It didn’t work for me overall.

It’s not his problem. It’s my problem alone. Always alone.
All these feels were unexpected. Completely unexpected. I’m not mad at it. Piper and Vordigar were good together. Their marriage of convenience becomes much more and I was happy sighing the whole time. It was also sad in parts but that added to Piper’s charm. She was one strong chick. I loved it.

When She's Married was awesome. I loved it from beginning to end but I wish it was longer. This author is 50/50 for me. I have loved a few books I have read but also disliked a few too. For me it always comes down to the h. I am really picky and some of this authors females are annoying to me. Piper was perfect and she was exactly what I like, she's strong but vulnerable. Her life has been hard but she doesn't feel sorry for herself, it just makes her more determined. Vordigar was awesome too. While he was attracted to the little human her proposal was not in his plans. I appreciated the fact that he was honest with Piper and in no way gave her false hope. There was no insta love but there was a really sweet connection that was formed in a few days. The ending was perfect.
