This is a great starter book for anyone who wants to learn more about organic gardening overall. There are specific portions for Texas in particular but the information regarding pest control and soil amendment etc is the same no matter where you're planting. The author is clear, concise, and even humorous. Definitely going to check out more of his work.

This was good for the reference material in regards to planting times and preferred varieties for Texas. I was looking for something a little more in-depth (container versus raised bad versus ground planting, for instance) but I did get a lot of valuable info out of here nonetheless.

Great book if you know nothing about organic gardening and just want to know what it is all about. Wonderful reference containing specific sections on a number of plants, pests, soil types... all kinds of junk...

I may be starting my garden too late this year, and have to wait til the fall to really get it going, but I can tell this book will be a constant source of information in my gardening adventures...

This is an excellent basic gardening book for Texas. The subtitle is: The Total Guide to Growing Vegetables, Fruits, Herbs and Other Edible Plants the Natural Way. It includes how to prepare the soil, when to plant, natural pest control and lists of varieties that do well. I keep checking it out of the library.

Great resource for gardening in TX, lots of useful charts and information. One of the better ones IMHO.

Probably part of why I really like this book is that it talks about vegetable gardening in Texas where most gardening books seem to be applicable in much cooler zones.
