Four Paws from Heaven: Devotions for Dog Lovers

Rate this book
Three talented writers and dog masters share wisdom gleaned while walking through life alongside four paws. This book focuses on spiritual lessons which include: who we are on the inside matters; rebellion blocks blessings; boundaries are for our own good; using our talents glorifies God; and if we always bark, we won't hear our instructions.

Devotions for Dog Lovers :), *Life is better with a dog!* These devotions will make you smile, laugh, and grow in your faith as you enjoy true stories of how God watches over us and provides for us even as we care for our canine companions. Lessons include "obedience training", "trusting your Master", and how being with God is the best place to be. I loved this book and the light-hearted side of it at times. Being a dog owner can teach you valuable spiritual lessons! :)

I thought this was a pretty good book. There are lots of little stories about dogs. One thing I didn't like was it was hard to tell who was telling the story in each story because there are 3 authors.

While I stay home and stay safe, I read books. This one is a delightful collection of about seventy devotional messages that originated in the lives of seven dogs and were written by their three owners. I’ve been a believer in Jesus Christ for over seventy years and these brief messages were a blessing to read as they portray the Lord’s promise to His followers. Brief scripture passages are quoted for each entry. The chapters conclude with a section entitled “Consider This.” Readers are asked three to five questions to help them what was read.

This book is super reading for any dog lover. I would enjoy reading through it again with another believer so we could help each other grow in our faith as we discuss these questions.

Here is one of the new ideas that I appreciate: “When we have an illness, God may be calling us to stillness.”

A book for dog lovers full of short solemn stories. The book is divided into 5 parts; Heart to Heart, Obedience Training, Meal Choices, To Heel or Not to Heel, Master Knows Best. Just beyond the foreword, the reader gets to meet the pups. There are images of seven dogs and each tells a little about their beed, description and personality. The stories draw the reader into a faith based journey with scripture provided. The story where Morgan (dog) is taken to the vet because it's feared he may have distemper was thought provoking. I could just imagine setting at the vet, cuddling any one of my three dogs, the way Morgan was being cuddled. As it turned out, Morgan did not have distemper. It seemed Morgan was lost but God helped restore him.

Although Four Paws from Heaven is a devotional I chose to read it like a book. I am a dog lover and had seven until one of our girl dogs, Jill, passed last October. Having six dogs with different personalities, quirks, habits, and needs, well, I could relate and enjoyed this book. Each devotion had something their dog(s) did and the lesson each author gleaned from it. From a spiritual standpoint it blessed me because several of the devotions towards the end of the book spoke to me about some things I am dealing with in my life. God has a way of getting His message across one way or another. I encourage others to read this book especially if they love dogs and God.

A sweet compilation of “Dog Devotions” written by three authors. It cleverly gives life snippets and how God, the creator cares for us, using analogies of the dog life.

If you love dogs, and love God, and have a penchant for writing that gives you a new view. Read this book!

Having read it in snippets, it’s spiritual messages were easy to marinate in my thoughts.

To dogs, and to us, trust your Master, and He will watch over you...❤️

Inspirational and thought-provoking! As a Christian, pet owner, and dog lover, I found this book engaging! As an author of dog stories, I also found this book inspiring, and more closely looked at how my disabled dog taught and embodied various faith lessons. I have read this book at least three times, and each time I gleaned new nuggets. Within the pages of Four Paws from Heaven is a treasury of not only engaging stories, but encouragement for those who desire a closer walk with God... and feel we fall short. I'm so glad others see how our dogs can help us along our life -- and faith -- journey!

Using their dogs as examples to portray how God can teach us valuable lessons. Full of humorous and sobering anecdotes. Divided into 5 parts: Heart to Heart, Obedience Training, Meal Choices, To Heel or Not to Heel, Master Knows Best.

Great book for all ages and those in different stages of their spiritual relationships! Each small chapter is a story about one of the authors' dogs that incorporates a faith-based lesson. I would highly recommend this to everyone!

This wasn't the book I read. Mine was an "inspiraional stories for dog lovers" gift edition. Nothing earth shaking.
