Filthy Gods #2

Flirting with Disaster

Rate this book
How can you crave someone as intensely as you hate them?

Finn Novak is one of the young gods who rule this town and wreaks havoc wherever he goes. He’s above everything, even the law.

I never thought I’d be thrust into his world of depraved privilege until tragedy strikes, and I’m forced to attend Maverick Prep, his domain.

I vow to keep hating him but quickly become trapped by his web of twisted mind games. I yearn for his barbed words as much as I hunger for his touch.

Getting close to Finn means unveiling secrets that should stay hidden. But like bodies buried in shallow graves, skeletons never remain in the closet forever.

I can’t escape him, though. His darkness feeds mine, and it’s only a matter of time before the void consumes us both.

When the story is over, who will be revealed as the real monster? Finn or me?

***4,5 "Filthy..." stars***

"Our story has disaster written all over it."

After reading Falling for Catastrophe, I was intrigued about Finn and Alexis and WOW!!!! This story was so unexpectendly dark, sinister and delicious...
I just couldn't put my kindle down... I wanted to leard more and more about these two and everyone that was surrounding them...
What started as a hate-love, passive-agressive relationship turned out to be so much more with all the mystery, secrets and darkness that was unravelling around Finn and Alexis!!!
I was dragged into this couple's world and honestly, I didn't want to let go...

"It's a dangerous thing to sympathize with the enemy..."

Finn was wealthy and priviledged and in his side of the town, everyone can get out of trouble, including him!!!
Alexis wasn't priviledged at all and she hated guys like Finn Novac, especially him, the golden boy who had never paid for what he did a year ago...
In a twist of fate, tragedy is striking Alexis and she's been forced to the other side, but her faud with Finn never wavered... Or did it???
From the moment that they have been forced into each other's vicinity, they are fighting the attraction that they are feeling toward each other... Is it really hate that is bounding them or is it something more???

"I loathe what he did, what he represents.
So why the hell can't I get him out of my mind?"

"I don't want anyone to give her hell but me.She's mine to torment because I want her undivided hatred."

I liked Alexis and Finn very much...
They have been borned to different worlds, but they were feeling the same...
There was a darkness that was consuming them both...
And maybe they needed each other to feel whole again...
But there are standing many things between them, things that have the ability to destroy them.... Can they fight the darkness and get to the other side together???

"Yes, Finn is the enemy. I hate him.
But I also feel a connection to him that I can't explain."

Honestly, this book took me by surprise!!!
I loved the hate-love romance between Alexis and Finn, but there were happening many other things in here that was keeping me on my toes all the time...
Of course, all the glimpses that I took from the other couples were enough to making me salivating over them... I just need more of this world and its character... It wasn't enough!!!

"Crazy loves crazy."

Prepare for a filthy and wicked ride with Flirting with Disaster! This is a DARK and mature series so check for triggers 🔥

The HATE-TO-LOVE was masterfully on point, there is so much angst, banter and pain between Alexis and Finn.
These two both come from a broken and traumatic past and they are both hiding their inner monsters. The attraction is undeniable, but so is the hate. God I love these two!

What surprised me was that alongside this wicked romance was a mysterious and thrilling plot, full of murder, secret societies, family drama and mental health issues. I found myself reading into the middle of the night and not being able to put the book down!

I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on the next book of the series. I am hoping to get the audiobook for it because I need to listen to the voices of these guys who are now hunting my dreams...

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy for review !

Alexis is a very strong young woman who has been dropped into Finn's Filthy God world, and she can't stand him, and I didn't blame her. She becomes his target of course, and while she still despises him, she's also very drawn to him, but luckily, she's willing to go toe to toe with him. These two are so explosive together that I felt exhausted after experiencing it all since it's definitely a wild ride. I don't want to say a bunch about this story as all this goodness should be experienced blindly for a more intense effect. There are twists coming in hot, the heat is scorching, angst & drama is high, and there's even quite a bit of humor in the pages. Flirting With Disaster is next level awesome, and definitely a page turner as I devoured it in one sitting without doing anything else and I CANNOT WAIT for more. So buckle the hell up & hit those one click buttons for an insane ride that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This book was a delightfully sinful read. The hate to love romance was immaculate, as were the “I hate you but I want you” vibes. Alexis and Finn’s dynamic was explosive, their chemistry and tension undeniable. She’s strong, determined, smart, and he’s a tormented soul, who acts like the villain but has a good heart underneath it all. I absolutely adored every single scene of the two together. The touch of mystery woven into the plot, and the bad boy group of friends Finn belongs to turned this into a favorite read. I can’t wait to read the other book in the series and find out more about the others!

The only minor detail I would have preferred it had not been there has to do with Alexis’s “darkness.” I don’t want to be too specific because I don’t want to fall into spoilers.

If you love dark romance, a steamy read, a prep school setting, bad boys and a dash of bully romance, then please pick up this book! The romance is conclusive, but the book ends of a cliffhanger that serves to build the anticipation for the next couple in the series.

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.

Really enjoyed this dark romance! I finished this one last night and I was def surprised by it. While I expected a dark romance, I definitely wasn’t expecting the thriller aspect to the story. It kept me turning the page way too late at night and had me curious up until the very end! Def recommend if you’re looking for a super steamy read that has a solid plot. It’s worth noting that this is part of a series, but the romantic plot wraps up in this book. The following book will follow a different couple.

I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. I knew I was going like this book, but I had no idea it would have a such huge impact on the story was plotted. I think Michelle did an incredible job. Finn is mean ans cruel but if you dig deep he has good in him too. He's also extensively attractive abs just saying lol. Alexis I love how ruthless she was she wasn't afraid to fight back she's strong and royal. I can't wait for the other characters as well. I really like Luke, Cameron, Reid and Eric and I'm curious about Jason. As for the girls, Emily, Hasley have me curious. And Jessica.

I'm such a sucker for this author and this book did not disappoint!

Right off the bat, Hercules sucks you in with Finn who is the definition of a bad boy and messy, but you just absolutely love him. I just love a tortured soul and that is exactly what you get with it.

This was a fast read for me because I couldn't put it down. I'm so excited for the next one.

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: bully, enemies to lovers
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Pretty good bully read, that had a ton of suspense, action, and secrets to unfold. Almost a thriller and definitely darker components and some mental health issues covered as well. The chemistry between the two MCs was sit on and super 🔥🔥🔥. The couple gets their HEA, but the series ends on a cliffhanger and I definitely can't wait to see what's next!

FLIRTING WITH DISASTER is an addicting enemies to lovers romance filled with spice, banter and with a surprising touch of suspense that kept me at the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this book to lovers of this trope and of dark romance in general. In some ways, it reminded me of a lighter version of the Devil’s Night series by Penelope Douglas, and since that series is one of my new obsessions, you can understand how much I enjoyed this book!

One of the biggest strengths of this book are definitely the two protagonists, Alexis and Finn. I started feeling for Alexis from very early on, and this only intensified going forward as she had to remain strong throughout the major, disorienting changes in her life. Finn, too, was a character I loved from the beginning. It’s no secret that I love the bad boys—and Finn definitely fits the criteria—but there’s so much more to Finn than that, and it’s evident from very early on in the book. Individually, these characters were very enjoyable and intriguing, but put them together and they were fire! Their “I hate you but I want you” dynamic and their witty, angsty banter was the life of the book as a whole. I loved the surrounding plot as well, but the romance is definitely what kept me glued to the pages.

The only reason I’m not giving the book a full 5 star rating is that I found the resolution of the plot to have been a bit rushed, especially in regards to the involvement of a certain character. I also wasn’t the biggest fan of a twist regarding Alexis, which I felt either needed a bit more page time or could have been avoided altogether. However, neither of these things impacted my enjoyment of the book, and I’m super excited for the next one, which will focus on another pairing! The author did an incredible job teasing the storylines of the following books, and I am hyped!

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. All opinions are my own.

What can I say about this book other than I absolutely loved it. There is another set of characters in the same world in Falling for Catastrope and I knew as soon as I read that one I was in for the long haul with this series. I really didn't like Finn at first, I thought he was just going to be the typical jock-type guy, but there is so much more to him than meets the eye. Even Alexis isn't exactly who you think she is, though she does have a hilarious amount of clumsiness, you'll find out about that when you read it.

This is a brilliant enemies to lovers, and there are even some amazing twists along the way that I didn't see coming, so when they did happen I'm pretty sure I had to pick my jaw up off the floor every time. As it’s a standalone the over all story is all tied up but the epilogue sets up for the second book meaning there is a slight cliffhanger there so be aware of that when you're going in, but for me personally, it left me really excited for book two which is Cameron and Halsey who you get to know a little bit about in this book. Can't wait.

Woah, this was hate to love like no other. The banter and angst between the characters was awesome. I loved the whole I can’t stand you but please don’t go trope.

I love a good enemies to lovers book, this one has those elements. Alexis and Finn had a great hating start and just gradually fell down this rabbit hole of no return. I can’t wait to see how their relationship progresses.

This read was set in a prep school, not my usual go to but I enjoyed the premise for sure, definitely recommend if you’re into school vibes with dark romance. I hope to see more of the side characters and the details on how the twists come together!

Huge thanks to the author for gifting me a copy! All opinions are my own.

Flirting With Disaster is an adventure! This story has ups downs, and will have your emotions in a jumble!!

Finn and Alexis will blow your mind in every way! Their hate turns into more and when that hate turns heat things take a very eventful turn! Michelle packed so many punches in this book I didn’t know what to expect! The whole book had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t wait for what was to come next!

Be ready for a wild ride and I mean wild! Things will happen in this book that will test your bounties. It’s one of Hercules darkest yet best book yet! Go in knowing that you won’t have all the answers right away but you will enjoy the journey to them!

This is the first book in a series of interconnected stories. There is no cliff hanger but some things won’t be answered right away just enjoy these characters and be ready for a wild adventure!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

How can you crave someone as intensely as you hate them?

When the story is over, who will be revealed as the real monster? Finn or me?

Alexis is one strong female character but finds herself having all her mental strength tested as she lands in Finn's world. She is now in the Filthy God's world and she hates Finn with a passion of a thousand fiery suns. It will not take you long once you start this book to figure out just how much she hates him. Finn is a senior at Maverick Prep and is filthy rich. Alex is described as diner rat and she saw Finn's car accident a year ago. To say the hate is equal is a understatement. Alex never thought she would end up in his world but she finds herself having to attend Maverick Prep and is smack dab in the middle of his world where she neve in a million yeas watched to be. These two suddenly don't just feel like character's in a books hate but a living breathing hate that is going to consume the world. I don't really think I can tell much more about the story and not give something away. There are twists and turns and some seriously smoking hot moments in this book that are going to have your kindle heating up pretty quickly. I loved every single thing about this book and didn't lay it down until I was finished. I am such a fan of this book. I don't think i have read a Michele Hercules book before. I really loved her writing style and the way these characters just slowly got peeled back and we discovered more and more about them. I should have told you in the beginning of my review that this is a dark enemies to lovers, bully romance. This book will contain triggers for some readers. You will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. I loved this one so much and you guys will too.

Follow Alexis and Finn’s story who we met briefly in Falling for Catastrophe in the Filthy Elites Anthology (Jason and Nicola’s story). Written in a dual POV style. This is a dark enemies to lovers romance with a thriller aspect to the story.

Immerse yourself in the universe of Maverick Prep, a private school for the rich and elite families of Trident Cove. Alexis, the estranged granddaughter of one of the richest family in town and Finn, who’s part of one of the founding families. Finn and Alexis hate each other. Their dynamic was explosive, their chemistry and tension undeniable. She’s strong, determined, smart, and he’s a tormented soul, who acts like the villain but has a good heart underneath it all. They are both broken, fucked up and eventually find out that they are perfect for each other. This story is full of heartbreak and secrets with a captivating plot full of twists and turns. You’ll discover that being rich and famous has a price and each family has their own series of secrets.
this book had everything in it! Drama, romance, thrill, mystery and some really hot, steamy moments. It leaves you wanting for more at every page.

This is the first book in a series of interconnected stories. There is no cliff hanger but the author introduces subplots and some things won’t be answered right away. I'm intrigued to know what is going to happen with Finn's friends and their future relationships. There were a lot of hints and unanswered questions with them and its making me excited for their stories. This series is definitely going to become one of my favourites! Just enjoy these characters and be ready for a wild adventure!

This is the first time I am reading Michelle Hercules and I really enjoyed her writing style. I am eager to read more books by this author and in this series.

It was s good to read another contemporary set story from this author. This time it's set collage, which is the environment this author feels really good in and we can see it while devouring the story of the two characters that should never start a relationship with each other.
Nicola is a girl that used to be someone else, she had to change her pans, appearance, and future, her original self was no more - Isabelle is gone, just a faint memory of her coset one. And now she has a master plan - go under the radar, don't show any sign of being special, just an ordinary student, but as it usually happens - those plans NEVER go well, and on her very first day when she got the attention f the boy that she should stay away from... well... happens, right? I love her character, she's strong, and she will fight like a cat when she needs to, but still, she has feelings that will allow readers to fall for her because we need strong girls in our books to show an example.
Jason - is a privileged man, that can do anything in this college and even in the town, coming from a family like his has its pros, but also cons of this kind of life/position. At first, I did not like him, to be honest, but getting more and more into the book - I fell for him as well. He has layers, a lot of them and this is what makes him so special and loveable. He's a bully, that for sure, but while reading we will get so well written origin that gave me chills even, but then we can see how he slowly changes and this is something we as readers love to see.
Once again I was hooked up by Ms. Soars' story, and I know for sure that I will be following her works further. I hope all of the books from her fingers will be as good as this one! Here we have a well-written enemies-to-lovers story, that will please readers' senses. Both main characters are strong, have their aim, and will not back down when cornered - what else can we want? A plot? Yes, please - it was well developed and I really liked how Ms. Soars led us with this story. And the ending... ugh... I need to know what happens next, but it's not cliffy for this couple!

When Alexis recognizes Finn as the boy who put a local boy in a wheelchair permanently, after crashing his Porsche into a convenience store, she kicks him and his friends out of her father's diner. Unfortunately, her father suffers a heart attack right after and passes away, leaving her orphaned. Alexis is then placed in the care of her wealthy grandparents and moved from the poor side of town to the rich side. At her new school, Maverick Prep, she meets Finn again, signaling the start of their love-hate relationship.

The first half of the book was fun and intriguing. The author set up the plot lines for future sequels for each of Finn's friends, all the while using them to further advance the plot for this book. Finn's friends have their unique Bad Boy flaws, but not in a way that makes them irritating. The mystery behind the shady dealings of the elite class of Triton Cove was woven into the plot in such a manner that added to the romance between Alexis and Finn. It really took the saying, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," to a whole new level.

The love-hate relationship between Alexis and Finn was atomic. The chemistry between these two characters was off the charts and described in high detail throughout the book. It was the perfect blend of physical and mental angst.

Wasn't a fan of the use of mental health issues as a plot driver, but overall a very well executed, angst filled romance. Highly recommended for readers who enjoy the enemies to lovers trope.

Spice Rating 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dark Rating 😈😈😈😈

Holy sh1t balls on a stick! 😱 This book was a lot to unpack, not only because it’s thiiiiiick 😏 But the drama was constant and never ending.

Flirting with Disaster is like a giant buffet of enemies to lovers and I want to fill my plate with every one! All these couples are so chaotic it’s making my head spin and I want more.

Michelle tore my heart out right from the beginning, then proceeded to stomp on it repeatedly throughout the novel, it was quite the emotional rollarcoaster. I instantly felt a connection to Lexi, she is so likeable it’s easy to feel for her in the situations that arise. She has a fierceness to her that Finn definitely brings out. Their darkness complimented one another.

I put this book down so many times just to pick it back up 2 seconds later. I loved the little crossover mentioned between Maverick Prep and Olympus U. I’m all for swing characters from the other book in this series and vice versa. Michelle said she couldn’t write a dark book! I call her bluff 😏 but damn you for ending it the way you did. I want more and I want it now…………. Please 😘

WOW--this was so juicy!! Plot twists and big reveals galore; my head is still spinning after that conclusion, to say nothing of that cliffhanger--OMFG.

This is a seriously spicy, hate-to-love/enemies-to-lovers romance set in a world steeped in mystery, murder, betrayal, and more. Alexis and Finn are explosive: their sexual tension/banter/chemistry is addictive and their personalities seem to be divinely matched. I absolutely loved the twist about the darkness residing inside Alexis (avoiding spoilers here) and Finn's complete adoration of her regardless.

I immediately vibed with Maverick Prep and found myself fascinated by this cast of characters. I'm super excited for Halsey and Cameron's story in the next installment and really intrigued to learn more about each of these kids! I think these books will be perfect for fans of the Crescent City series.

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions expressed above are entirely my own.

Oh my gosh I am a HUGE fan of enemies to lovers and lets just say that the hate that Alexis felt towards Finn started off from the very beginning of the book and was INTENSE! There is definitely more to them both and I adored being able to peel back the layers and get to know them, especially through all of the twists and turns of the book!

All in all, I love Michelle Hercules' books and was so excited for this release, and for good reason, because this was awesome! A genuinely interesting read with tons of emotions and some INTENSE chemistry. I was hooked for the beginning and like that this was a standalone, but interconnected throughout the entire series. Can't wait for the next one!

PS: Thank you Michelle Hercules and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

I really enjoyed this story… it’s full of mystery and love and friendship.

The story begins with the tragic death if Alexis’s father which makes her move with her grandparents and therefore change school and her entire life.

She meets Finn and their story begins…and I will admit that it’s a very cute and lovely 🥰.

I really liked Alexis as a character - she’s young yes but very strong with an impressive personality and … a twist 😏 won’t say more so I won’t spoil but I will admit that I liked the ‘twist’ 😉.

Finn really surprised me - he’s our own rich spoiled brat but at the end he’s there for her in an amazing way - loved him.

But… what I loved about the book more is the mystery which I’m sure we’ll learn a lot more as we meet the other guys stories.

Really excited for Cameron’s story …

Absolutely amazing! Another all-consuming, thrilling read involving the filthy gods of Triton Cove!

This book focuses on Finn Novak and Alexis Walker. At first glance the two couldn’t be more different, but as they start to spend more time together, they soon discover they have more in common than they ever could have imagined. Both Finn and Alexis have skeletons in their closets and dark secrets they’d rather not reveal. However, one by one those secrets are exposed and connections are made, and it soon becomes clear the two will need to work together if they want to bring down the demons in this town.

There were so many twists and turns in this novel, making it a fast-paced, exciting read that was next to impossible to put down! I am absolutely loving this series so far and I’m beyond excited for Cameron and Halsey’s story next!!

Can I just say, mind blown? The way that Hercules implemented the twists within this bully romance is something that was just everything. I loved the concept and how Alexis is such a spitfire. She gives as good as she gets and doesn't care at all about who she offends. Add Finn into her world and things get insane. There are so many epic twists in this story that I could not put it down. The complexity of it all, how things tie into each other was just wow. There are so many factors that come into play and lay the groundwork for what is to come within this series too. But Alexis and Finn, they are pure magic together. I have so many questions for the next book and I am dying to get my hands on it!

The story is exhilarating and full of twist and turns that it totally keeps you hooked from the very beginning until the very end. Wow! Where do I start?! After reading the novella prequel to this series about Jason and Isabelle I was excited to see what Finn's story would be about.
This story was dark, mysterious and full of mind blowing secrets.
Alexis and Finn had tonnes of chemistry and their interactions were electric.
There were so many twists and turns and reveals that I wasn't expecting.
I'm intrigued to know what is going to happen with Finn's friends and their future relationships. There were a lot of hints and unanswered questions with them and its making me excited for their stories.
This series is definitely going to become one of my favourites!

Flirting With Disaster is definitely going in my top ten books of the year. I loved every minute reading this. This is a chunker of a book but it doesn’t feel like it at all. I could not put this down. This book had everything in it, all the drama! (Which I love by the way).

Alexis and Finn were everything! This was a classic enemies to lovers book. I think going in blind with this one would be best. There’s so much that happens plot wise and mysteries to unfold. This is Michelle’s darkest book in my opinion and I can not wait for the next book in this series.

I couldn’t put this book down till I finished it. It was so good. Finn is a filthy rich senior at Maverick Prep and Alexis is the diner rat who witnessed Finn’s car accident a year ago. This is an enemy to friends to lovers book. They hate one another yet they are attracted to each other. There is steamy romance, mystery and lots of twists and turns to the story. Can’t wait till Cameron and Halsey’s book come out.
