A fun little read/listen, perfect for St. Paddy's holiday.
Plum Lucky (#13.5) features Grandma Mazur who got lucky and found a giant bag of money by the sidewalk. The following day, Grandma is missing but left an Atlantic City casino brochure in her room. Meanwhile, Diesel is pursuing an escaped felon, a little man in green pants who lost a giant bag of money!
Although this is a novella, a 0.5 book you still get the humor, crazies, and a full cast. 🍀💰🌈

Book Review
4 of 5 stars to Plum Lucky, one of four "in-between" novellas in the "Stephanie Plum" mystery series, written in 2008 by Janet Evanovich. As if she didn't have enough already going on, Evanovich released several short books in between the various series she'd been writing, this time linking together Stephanie and Diesel, from one of her other book series. And as if Stephanie didn't have enough going on with Ranger and Morelli, now she's lusting after a possible ghost man. Well... so are we all, so are we all...
Atlantic City becomes the focus in this holiday edition where Stephanie's tracking down her crazy grandmother. The antics with Lula are fantastic. Add in a few other core characters and you've got the usual ride. I like these because they are shorter, easier to read in full in about 2 hours. It's humor and wicked fun wrapped up in memorable characters. Less about the mystery and suspense, more about the laughs. It's a nice break, but I do prefer the longer mysteries.

This non-review is a shoutout to all of you who read not only for a specific season, but for individual holidays as well. I am not one of you. In fact . . . .
I do, however, have an addiction to whatever crack Janet Evanovich has put in this Stephanie Plum series which includes even these “between the numbers” filler books. If you are looking for a quick read to commemorate St. Paddy’s (because you best not be out super-spreading in some bar just to drink a green beer), this is a decent waste of you time ; )

You know you're in trouble when you need to keep someone with bail money close by.
I have a feeling I'm going to love this idea!
So, this short story is absolutely hilarious. Grandma Mazur finds a bag of money and goes missing. Diesel is involved since he's in every half book, and he is quickly rising to become my favorite of Stephanie's men.
"I am NOT an Everest kind of guy. Everest is cold. And when you get tired of looking at rock, you can look at more rock... I'm more of a tropical breezes and palm trees swaying man."
I'm a tropical breezes and palm trees swaying girl! And, I hate cold and rocks too! It's a match made in heaven.
There is also a guy who thinks he's a leprechaun and may or may not be able to talk to animals. Of course these animals sometimes lead him in the wrong direction. Like the doberman who convinced him that he was having trouble with invisibility because he was wearing clothes. This turned into a little naked man running around and freaking everyone out. Doberman's are such jerks!
We only get minor appearances from Ranger and Morelli, but they are hilarious as well.
Morelli: "I hear there's a car burning in your parking lot."
"It's not mine. My car was blown up and burned at the multiplex."
"Do I need to know any gory details?"
"No. Everything's under control. Diesel taped a garbage bag over the broken window, and the firebomb only singed the carpet a little."
"Great," Morelli said. And he disconnected.
"He take that okay?" Diesel asked.
"I could hear him chewing Rolaids."
Poor Morelli! He's getting too old for this shit.

A horse in an apartment? Who would do something so crazy? Only Stephanie Plum. Love this book!

In this book sexy Diesel is back and in search of a leprechaun. Or maybe he’s just a little guy who speaks with a fake Irish accent and thinks he’s a leprechaun. 🤷🏼♀️🍀Meanwhile Grandma Mazur has found the leprechaun’s pot of gold (or bag of cash) and heads to the casinos. (Where else?) 🤣

Honestly, try not to read in bed with your sweetie asleep next to you. There is no way to keep from busting out laughing.. and not just once!!

As the title indicates, and without a familial link to the Emerald Isle, Stephanie celebrates St. Patrick’s Day! (And as the title also suggests for anyone living in New Jersey…getting lucky involves the lights, the sounds, and the sleaze of Atlantic City.)
Grandma Mazur finds a bag full of money – a cool mil, to be exact. But Snuggy O’Connor, a vertically-challenged Polish-American guy who thinks he’s a leprechaun, claims it as his pot ‘o gold. And Snuggy is an “unmentionable,” or a guy with weird powers that the mysterious Diesel has to corral. Trying to spend that money before it disappears, Grandma buys a Winnebago and takes off for AC. Diesel and Steph team up to catch Grandma and Snuggy, and they bring Connie and Lula along for support.
And why does Snuggy need his pot ‘o gold? He needs it to save Doug. And that’s a horse of a different color. But the real problem? The money really belongs to the elderly, screw-loose gangster, Lou Delvina. Yikes!
This was a fun, well-structured, hilarious caper. We’re back to the exploding cars and double entendres. Any story with Grandma Mazur Gone Wild is bound to be a trip. It’s more an adventure and less of a mystery, but it was fast-paced, easy to follow, and exciting with every page. I also thought this was Diesel at his best. He shows off more talents for trickery, disappearing and removing undergarments that didn’t seem evident in the prior two novels. I guess I like him better than I thought. Still not in the Ranger/Morelli discussion, but I feel like I should move onto the Lizzie and Diesel series. Should I?
Lots of side quests for the other characters, too. I liked how Delvina developed in the course of the novel. A real baddie, but you can’t have a straight villain in these things. He’s gotta be quirky and weird and a little icky. Yep, that’s him. Amazing that this all fit in just 170 pages!
And that brings me to the end of the Stephanie Plum saga. This was the last one! Feeling a little lost. But I checked in with Alex Evanovich,, who told me SP #32 is on the way, with a pub date TBD. Hurry it up!
And kudos again to the great Lorelei King for another great audiobook!

I’ve already said this… I am not a fan of these In-Between Novellas. They simply don’t fit. It almost feel like the author said “Let me write a little something, I could use the cash for a new extension on the house.” Stephanie and her parade of characters are present, and always entertaining. But the supernatural, special ability people don’t work for me.
It’s St-Patty’s Day and Grandma Mazur found a bag of cash at the end of a rainbow. That’s all she’s been waiting for, and she hits the road. Stephanie has to track her and the money down to Atlantic City. She has the help of Lula, Connie and Diesel, who happens to be after the leprauchaun wannabe who stole the bag-o-money in the first place from a toadlike mobster.
What’s next, the Easter Bunny???

The between the numbers books are lighter versions of the Plum novels. This one features Diesel -- the alien? as do the others. Having him in the story adds a new dimension as he definitely has some unusual skills. I do not enjoy him as much as I do Morelli and Ranger, though.
It was entertaining to read about Stephanie visiting Atlantic City with Connie, Lulu, Grandma Mazur and some other quirky characters. A fun read!

The mob boss was great the rest of the book not so much. To be honest, while this was amusing and still entertained the whole thing felt a little lazy and half-assed.

January 24, 2008I love the Stephanie Plum books, but these "between the numbers" books haven't thrilled me as much, although this is probably the best of the three so far (Visions of Sugar Plums; Plum Lovin'.) It's rather like eating the crumbs of Stephanie's favorite Tastee Cakes, but us diehard fans will take what we can get until Fearless Fourteen comes out in June. So far, these books have been centered around holidays: Christmas, Valentine's Day, and now St. Patrick's Day. Grandma Mazur takes off with a duffel bag that she found on the street. It's full of money, and she's convinced she's found the leprechaun's pot of gold and it's hers to keep. But the "leprechaun" wants his money back, and so do the gangsters he stole it from. Grandma takes off for Atlantic City, so Stephanie, Lula and Connie take off after her. Diesel shows up too; he's looking for the leprechaun. The scene with Lula causing a 'distraction' in the casino was priceless, as anyone who's familiar with that character can imagine. At well under 200 pages, it's a very quick, very enjoyable read that will leave fans hungry for more. 01/08 Stacy Alesi, AKA The BookBitch

So I know I’m a bit biased but I love this book. This is because I love Diesel. I only gave this 4 stars because I need it to be longer. I know this is the in between so it’s not supposed to be long but I love the laughs that happen when Steph and Diesel get together. He is an unmentionable and he gets into a lot of shenanigans. And that’s just fine with me.

This was my first Janet Evanovich book and I have to say I'm not a big fan. I had high expectations because I had heard from a lot of different people that her books are great, but this one didn't live up to the hype! The book was a quick read and got me laughing a few times, but it was TOO ridiculous in my opinion. Will I try another Evanovich some day? Probably...but next time I'll be at the pool giving it only 1/2 of my attention!!!

I always enjoy these books. In the in between the numbers series, Diesel pops in to help Stephanie. He comes in and out of her life. This time Grandma Mazuer is kidnapped because she unknowingly took a mobster's money. He wants it back so he kidnaps Grandma. Stephanie needs to find the money so she can get her grandma back. Also she helps Diesel to catch Diesel's skip. People think he is a leprechuan and he can turn invisible.

Readers looking for an escape will feel like they hit the jackpot with this novel. All your favorite cast of characters are here and they're taking it on the road. Grandma's gone missing and Stephanie is in charge of finding her, getting her back to the Burg in one piece, and keeping herself alive in the bargain. With the help of Diesel, a little guy who thinks he is a leprechaun, and a lame former racehorse in a Winebago, the laughs are plentiful. This novel was exactly what I needed!

This is a Cozy Mystery, and this is the 13.5 book in the Stephanie Plum series. I laughed so much while reading this book. I love the Plum Series by Janet Evanovich because they are easy and funny reads. I do not feel you have to read this series in order.

this book was funny. I found myself laughing out loud several times at the crazy incidents. That being said, there is a lot of foul language in it. The main character, Stephanie Plum, who's telling the story (first person), doesn't swear, but she lives in Trenton New Jersey. I suppose it wouldn't be realistic if the mobsters she has to interact with in this book *didn't* curse, though. So be fairwarned.
But it was quite funny, complete with a little man of eastern european descent who was convinced he was a leprechan. Add in a crazy gramma, a guy named Diesel, and a horse named Doug, and you can probably guess why. This book starts on St Patrick's day, but it didn't end there. Didn't even end with the use of a rocket launcher to take out a car. And a guy that had been turned into a toad (or at least looked like one). So silly. Not sure I'll try any of the other books, though. It is a rather involved series. This particular book being a 'holidy' book, takes place in between the series.
I understand Katherine Hiegel will be portraying Stephanie in a movie soon. Depending on the rating (if they keep the language, it will be 'R'), I may go see it.

Grandman has lost a bunch and Diesel goes to a card game to make up the difference. Another fun filled novel which I listened to as an audio book which I will recommend. Funny short tale, but I don't like these "in between" books very much. Grandma finds a bag of money and goes to Atlantic City. Too many secondary characters for such a short story.

I love Janet Evanovich and the Stephanie Plum series. Nice short book I read in two evenings. Not as good as the "numbers" series b/c Morelli and Ranger weren't really involved.

This is a short novella about 2-3 hours, about our friend "Stephanie Plum." she's back!! An interesting take in writing, her "in between." book. Written by Janet Evanovich. Plum and Diesel team up to rescue a poor racehorse and Grandma Mazor. They were kidnapped and of all things held for ransom. They are using the ransom as the money grandma found after it was lost by a crazy thief that had actually taken it from the gangster. Make sense?
What's even more funny is that police find evidence of a horse? in an apartment building. Ranger and Moreli are up to their usual antics. I always enjoy those two. This book setting is in Atlantic City, where we find Stephanie tracking down Grandma. Lula and others are along for the ride. Horse Whisperer
OK, so this was undoubtedly entertaining. Between Grandma Mazur, Lula, and Snuggie it's a mess of epic proportions. The unmentionable, Snuggie, that Diesel is tracking is a trip thinking he's a leprechaun and can become invisible.
I like that this one is less "paranormal" than the prior between the numbers books. Stephanie catches a skip and many of the usual shenanigans can be experienced, you know, like cars going 💥boom!💥

OK, so this was undoubtedly entertaining. Between Grandma Mazur, Lula, and Snuggie it's a mess of epic proportions. The unmentionable, Snuggie, that Diesel is tracking is a trip thinking he's a leprechaun and can become invisible.
The day after St. Patrick's Day, I woke up next to Joe Morelli, my almost always boyfriend. Morelli's a Trenton cop, and he makes me look like an amateur when it comes to impure thoughts. Not that he's kinky or weird, more that he's frighteningly healthy.

I like that this one is less "paranormal" than the prior between the numbers books. Stephanie catches a skip and many of the usual shenanigans can be experienced, you know, like cars going 💥boom!💥

Totally loved this. Any time you have Grandma Mazur and Diesel along for the ride, its a winner. Of course, we also have a little man dressed in green, a racehorse and a Winnebago, what a great ride!!
