Written in film days, but gave me a lot of good information on how to compose and set up pictures to be great. How to manipulate settings (aperture, shutter speed) and control exposure and white balance for certain effects instead of letting camera control it and move to full manual settings. He said limiting yourself to one picture of something makes you deliberately create your picture so you get the best of your skills. With digital we can be extra sloppy, then; maybe taking fewer pictures is agreat idea. Liked his philosophy of "making" pictures as a reflection of the relationship between subject and photographer.

I was trying to pair down my book collection and of the older outdated ones that I had in my collection, this one was the most tempting to read. Even though it talked about shooting with film, a lot of the information is still relevant today and it had a joyful energy about photography in general.

One line said something about not being worried about if the photos don't all turn out perfectly as planned but that it is just important to make sure that you get out there and take them in general. If you do that, things will improve and you'll enjoy the craft/hobby a lot more.
