Shows you how to lay out the pattern pieces on the fabric, transfer essential markings and cut with confidence. This work also include a Patternmaker CD that combines pattern drafting software with ready-made computerised pattern collections. The teaching project in each section is illustrated with step-by-step photographs featured at key stages.
I got this book out of the library because I'd seen it on Amazon and I was curious about the pattern maker software. First off - the software works only on windows. This is just a heads up for all you mac users out there. It does work on the windows half of a double booting mac, but it doesn't work on OSX proper.
My biggest disappointment with this book was the pattern selection. There were very few clothing items I would actually wear and the photos frequently featured pieces other than the ones the instructions were for. (For example: I'd love a pattern to sew the shirt the model is wearing in the Flared Skirt photo, but I can barely see how the skirt hangs from her cross legged sitting position.)
Another frustration I had was the fact that there were no yardage estimates in the book itself - you'd have to generate the patterns with your measurements before you could get even the most basic yardage estimate.
I cannot speak to the quality of the resulting patterns because the only projects I would want to make, the tailored shirt and the suit jacket, are far beyond my current beginning sewing ability. If you like the projects in the book than it might be a worthwhile investment, but I'd encourage you to check your library first.
A very interesting style, in fact, there is something unusual https://inlower.com/ in it, which makes it rather difficult to look away from it. I have little experience in combining clothes and I can quite say that it can be combined with this clothes? It will look harmonious.
