When I heard that Paul Michael Kane was writing a book, I got excited. I had known of his immense creative talent with design for years. If his writing talent was anything like that, I knew I was in for a treat. To say that I wasn't disappointed is the understatement of the year. I sat down with the intent to just "check out" Paul's story. When I finished the book a short time later, I was shaking. An absolutely brilliant story, told in a unique and gripping style. It is rare for a writer to be able to completely draw in a reader with a short story. To get that reader invested in the lives and situations of the characters, in just a few words, is hard to do. Well take it from me...Paul Michael Kane does exactly that with The Forgiven. If you are on the fence with whether you should buy this one, trust me, jump off the fence and get it. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait to see what Kane puts out next.

Brilliant and brutal. It’s uncommon for a horror short to be both heartbreaking and uplifting, while still being a dark and terrifying tale, but this one certainly is. The Forgiven is a story that most authors will wish they themselves had written. The best storytellers have an ability to reach deep into our hearts, our minds, and wrench from us emotions we might not even be aware we have and this short does exactly that. Kane’s The Forgiven is a rare story, and one that you’ll not soon forget, if ever.

Never read before a story that is so haunting and yet so emotional and sad at the same time. The author takes you into this story and doesn't let go until the end. The only disadvantage is that the story is over so soon. I really can't wait to read more by the author.

This is a new author and I'm proud to say a friend of mine. The story is one very sad and happy, in the same time and it's totally worth reading, it actually makes you think about your own life and how the decisions you make will influence your path in the afterlife.

This short tale grabbed me from the beginning and held me through the end. It was a ride of emotion, holding me on the edge of my seat to find the outcome. My only disappointment was that it was over too soon! Can't wait to read more from Paul Michael Kane!

Amazing! I read this in one sitting. It resonated with me. It became a part of me. It chilled my very soul. Unbelievable ink in this one. I felt like I was right there going through its beautiful madness.
Each page was beautiful. Each page hit deep within. I had goosebumps rising on my skin. Masterpiece is not a word to describe this one. The word is Immortal. Excellent Job Paul! This is going to reach the stars.

Attention well and truly grabbed!
I read this story as soon as I received it through the post yesterday - by the end of the first paragraph I was already intrigued and wanting to get to the end to find out what happens.
A well known premise of the battle between good and evil but told in a fresh way with some punchy details and a definite relevance for today’s society.
Really enjoyed this and certainly felt satisfied at the conclusion.

The Forgiven by Paul Michael Kane is a fantastic tale, told from an interesting and unusual point of view. The characters may seem familiar at first, but are surprising in unexpected ways. The accompanying illustrations are not only beautiful but they fit the story well.
