Well, hello there! Thanks for visiting my author page.
I'm Mr. Jay, and I have the best career on the planet - I get to spend my days creating amazing characters and writing stories about them that, for reasons I can't possibly imagine, people seem to like. So far, I've written books like "Ricky, the Rock that Couldn't Roll," "Tess, the Tin that Wanted to Rock," "Do Pebbles Eat Chili?", "The Masterpiece," "The Bear and the Fern," and a few books that will be coming out soon, such as "Patrick Picklebottom and the Penny Book," "Tyrannosaurus Hex," and others.
But the best part is that in between all of my writing, I get to travel around the country visiting school and meeting the most amazingly awesome kids ever. I read my books and then we discuss what they're about, and I always love hearing how kids interpret the stories that I write and discussing it with them.
I live in New Jersey (yes, by choice), and I have a wife, Amanda, who helps me improve all of my books as I write them, and a daughter named Bria who is the inspiration for many of the stories that I come up with.
I also love hearing from teachers and parents and kids, so please feel free to contact me at jmiletsky@newpaigepress.com.
This book is so beautiful, from the warm comforting illustrations, to the words that tie it all together. A truly perfect book for any parent to read to their child cuddled up in their arms.
A sentiment, a gift book, a message for those who can't write or speak their own – this is a parent talking to a child about how amazing and cherished they are. Each spread is a different hue and involves a different animal, always in parent and child combination, but the end result is an accumulation of bonding, as the speeding lion looks back on the cub and is joyful at it keeping up, as the elephant sees the baby's enthusiasm as a thing to treasure, as a cat watches her kitten juggle lemons… Well-rhymed, and certainly pleasant to look at, this will be sickly sweet and saccharine for some, and the best thing they can think of to give as a present for others. But it certainly doesn't need to be dismissed, whichever side of that divide you might be on. Pretty good, and pretty and good.
This is a sweet story about parents’ love for their kids. I love the use of the word “pretty” - no to mean physically but how the children are on the inside - “pretty sweet,” “pretty kind,” etc. Another great story by this author.
Very nice illustration and our little one loves the story. We’ve read it a few times. There are a few pages that are challenging to read on a phone in a mostly dark room but otherwise we really like it.
Pretty sweet story presenting a parent’s heartfelt love for a child. Littles will love it with it’s pretty rhymes and simply heartwarming, imaginative illustrations. Pretty great Mr. Jay!
I really loved the illustrations and the message Pretty Loved sends. This is a must for every children’s library and an absolute must for a bedtime story for your little ones.
