This book was written by my uncle and godfather Lewis Lind who is my mother's brother.
Lew Lind was a prisoner of War in the second world war and this is his personal story during the Battle of Crete.
He made many friends in Crete and after the war, he paid them a visit and he was treated as royalty.
I attended his funeral in either 1997 or 1998 and it was held in the chapel at Garden Island Naval Dockyard - his friends from Crete attended also.
He was a gentleman and a hero.

A glimpse into an often forgotten front of WWII. It served well to reinforce the true expanse of suffering the war inflicted, so many harrowing ordeals packed into a 6 year span. Always good to tap into a first hand account too.
