Follow the journey of quirky June and her best friend, Allie, as they navigate their senior year of high school. June has never had a boyfriend and wants a date to the winter formal, but she has high standards, thanks to her mother's checkered past. Allie is a member of the popular crowd at school though June will never understand how as Allie is a kind-hearted Christian girl, as is June. But those popular kids, June calls, 'the Charmings,' are anything but charming. A new guy, named Noble, comes to Battle Ground High school, and has eyes for June, although the mean girl, Bridgett, has her eyes set on him. Out of her jealousy, she enlists the "prince of the Charming's," aka Clay Cooley, to do her bidding. This includes taking June out of the picture and charming her so she stays out of Bridgett's way. Will you be on Team Clay or Team Noble? It might surprise you. Come along and see how God works in mysterious ways, changes hearts, and works all things for the good of those who love Him.
4.5 stars, rounding up to 5 stars. I wish I could have read this book in high school and I will definitely be remembering this one for when my daughters get older. It’s a great, appropriate rom-com for teenagers! I’d say 16 and up! This book kind of gave me Sixteen Candles vibes - where the popular guy picks the not popular girl!
Some of my favorite things: -loved the Princess Diaries and Dirty Dancing references! Two of my favorite movies. -multiple POVs -the friendship between June and Allie and overcoming trials
Some of the things I found relatable: -June experience being bullied at school -June wishing she had a mother who could give scriptural advice (my hearttt❤️) -June made some “bad” decisions in the book, but would end up praying and turning things around. Her faith and reliance on God made this a contemporary book I wouldn’t mind my daughters reading
I think this book would be a great read for any Christian mother and daughter to read together as a fun little book club! It would lead to great conversation, especially for dating and the purpose of dating! And boundaries! Highly recommend!
I seriously adore June! And her BFF Allie. June is so much like me in her clumsy, quirky ways. I love the way Hattie made this book so cute and funny but incorporated truths about Jesus that I know I sure needed reminding of.
It very much had the vibes of “She’s All That” with some “A Walk to Remember” thrown in. I’m also and a huge fan of the Royal family so I loved the nods to that. If you like YA Christian romance with no spice, definitely check this book out! I’m looking forward to reading the next book focusing more on Allie!
What a “charming” read this was! This “royal” gem from author Hattie Wade left me swooning and rooting for true love.
June Royal Glessing is in her final year of high school and the world is full of possibilities. She’s quirky, artistic, fun, and a set designer for the Theater Club. June has a heart of gold and is nothing like the snobby, popular “Charmings” clique at school. She’s a lover of lists and knows just what qualities she wants her future boyfriend to have.
So, when the prince of the Charmings, the handsome, tan, smooth-talking, Theater-Club-acting, baseball-playing Clay Cooley, begins to show an interest in her, June is caught off guard. Is it possible for her to fall for Clay or does God have someone else in store for her? And when betrayal and heartbreak strike, will she be able to find it in her heart to forgive?
Run to Him is filled with so much creativity, nostalgia, and genuine faith-filled moments. It was an easy 5-star read for me. I adored the 90s and early 2000s references sprinkled throughout. The book tells a heartwarming story of blossoming love, heartbreak, hope, and healing. Hattie Wade does an incredible job of weaving faith in the Lord, surrendering to His plan, and seeking His will for the future into the plot in a way that is natural and inspiring.
This is such the cutest book! I love that Hattie is a total Christian author and not afraid to share her faith in her books. I love the characters she has created and the story was flawless! I loved that there was a journey for each character and so much growth as individuals and together.
Physical Intimacy PG13 1-2 Sweet kisses and make outs but not too descriptive.
⚾️ Love triangle 👑 Faith-filled 🎭 Multiple POV’s ⚾️ Highschool sweetheart 👑 Rivals to lovers 🎭 She falls first he falls harder
I enjoyed this book! This was such a sweet-wholesome read! love that you see some of the Christian characters and the others who are non-Christians interact with the subject of Christianity. You get to see the struggle between the two and how they get through the story together and eventually help each other. One of my favorite parts of the book is that June prays over her love interest. Another thing I loved about this book is that it has multiple POVs! While the male characters’ POVs could have been expanded, the author does a fantastic job tackling serious issues like grief, single-parent struggles, and self-love genuinely. I also loved the sweet romantic scenes between the characters. I enjoyed seeing the characters develop page by page.
June Royal is not your average girl… she enjoys old cars, working on the set design for theater, and loves anything royalty-related. She is a senior in high school and she loves the Lord. She has to work in the theater room with Clay Cooley, her enemy since middle school, he is one of the popular boys in the school and June likes to call them the “The Charmings”. Through the first day of her senior year, you get to meet Mr. Kristianson or Noble. She thinks Noble is also a rival because he just transferred from a different school and is now working on set design with her. Her best friend eventually tells her to forgive them and give one of them a chance. So she has to figure out how to deal with both guys while also maybe falling for them?
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 5/5 stars! I loved this book so much and highly recommend it!! June is a little quirky and Clay is super popular and dreamy. When their opposite lives fall into each other, you can help but root for them. There are SO many great one-liners in this novel! The author brings God into the story and makes you feel, think and re-evaluate your own life while enjoying the story. June’s best friend Allie is so wonderful (book #2 is about her!!!) and accepts June for all she is. June’s mom is a bit of a mess- but one of my favorite quotes from the book is (when talking about her mom) “I journal daily, ‘Lord, help me accept that she has done the best she can’” I pray my girls have that much patience and forgiveness for me.
A few of my fav moments: 👑 first softball game 👑 all the royal references … every single one 😂😂 👑Diet Coke 👑 noble bringing june a dc to class 😍 👑 Clay’s letterman jacket (takes me back!) 👑 Allie’s friendship! Is everything!! 👑 first kiss 🔥🔥🔥 👑 senior trip ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 👑 running in the rain
I am so impressed, Hattie Wade is now on my “auto read” list! Friends I flew through this book, not wanting to put it down, while simultaneously, hoping it wouldn’t end.
This book just completely surprised me and I absolutely loved it. It has been a while since I've read a romance that took place in high school, honestly because it has been harder for me to connect to them as I get older. BUT, this one got me from the very start and I was 100 percent invested on how June Royal's story was going to play out.
"Charming" is a perfect way to describe this book. As well as swoony, inspiring, fun, emotional...I could go on, Run to Him has it all. Wade did such a beautiful job with June's story. She even threw in a bit of a love triangle there, which isn't my favorite trope, but you know, she made it work for me in this story. The back and forth with Clay and Noble has you invested and reading to the end to see the romance that wins it all. And it is so, so satisfying when you find out.
From the softball games, and training, to kisses in the street, theater school scenes, paint room outing, rainy emotional breakdown...I could go on...you are thrown in for such a great read that will sweep you away. This is one you will want to pick up! Don't miss out on a fabulous and swoony read from Hattie Wade!

June, a quirky and artistic high school senior, pours her heart into set design for the theater club and loves making lists—including one for her dream boyfriend. When Clay, a popular and charming classmate, unexpectedly shows interest, June is torn between excitement and doubt, struggling with her own sense of worth. But things take a dramatic turn when Noble, a new student, arrives and also shows interest in her. With emotions running high and tensions escalating, June must navigate secrets, heartbreak, and the ultimate question—who does God want for her?
This was a fun and quick read. Hattie does a great job of weaving Christian elements into the story, making it both uplifting and relatable. June’s struggles and desires are portrayed in a way that resonates with anyone striving to live a godly life. The faith aspect feels natural, adding depth to the characters and their journeys.
Considering this is her debut novel, I was really impressed by the potential of her writing. While there are a few areas that could use some refinement, it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the book. I see so much potential in her voice, and I am excited to see how she continues to grow and shine in future works!
If you need a sign to read this book, consider this it. Hattie took a cute rom-com style book and added incredibly important faith themes to make this book go from being a good story to a great one! June is quirky and fun and loves Jesus above all else, but has difficulty opening her heart to others. Clay is your average sporty playboy type guy...or is he? Noble seems like her dream guy, but will June choose him in the end? With fake dating, a love triangle and a good spiritual theme of trusting God when things seem to be out of our control and running to Him when others fail us, this book will have you laughing and crying. I can't wait to read Allie's story next!

I have absolutely enjoyed this gem from Hattie Wade! It was sweet, funny, charming and full of God’s love throughout!
I loved June! She was so spunky and witty! She was so easy to relate to and she loved Diet Coke, which made me love her even more!
The love triangle between Clay and Noble left me guessing how the story would end! And I wasn’t disappointed!
There were several hidden 90s and ‘00 references that I loved and reminded me of my high school years! The Paint Room scene and the Drive-in Movie scene were so sweet and swoony! You will have to read to understand why!
You won’t regret picking this book up! I’ve found me a new author friend in Hattie Wade!
**This is Book 1 in the He Redeems series! Book 2 “Rely on Him” will come out in April 2023!**
Best quotes: “Shine God’s light. Shine his light through your words and actions.”
“June’s heart is beautiful. The thing is, I want to be the one to protect her heart.” 💗
“I know you’re scared and you have every right to be, but God is working! Don’t ignore him!” Run to him (not run to a romantic partner) it means run to God. 💗💗
This is a new to me Author and I absolutely LOVED this story! I cannot wait to read book 2 in this series. This is a Christian romance between 2 “friends by association.” Although FMC, June doesn’t really care for Clay. She actually doesn’t care for the whole “charming” group. The popular crowd. Then all of a sudden Clay starts talking to her and showing interest in her. I was so pleasantly surprised with this story. I got to see so much personal and spiritual growth woven throughout this one. It was so incredibly sweet. Hattie did an amazing job with this story. I thought the timeline was so well done also. Y’all go check this one out! 🥹🩷

Run to Him is a beautiful story of first love, heartbreak, forgiveness, healing, and surrendering control to God. Witnessing June write her standards list and then wrestle between her heart, her mind, and her desire to do God’s will was both so sweet and heart wrenching! But as June finds out, God’s plans are rarely what we think they will be, and they’re always redemptive and beautiful in the end 🤍
This is the first book I have read with such youngest characters, and I adored it! I wish there were books like this when I was younger. Such a sweet message. Young girl looking for love and finding it in the popular boy, but only after realizing how important her faith is to her. Very young read and appropriate for a teenager, sweet, hopeful and glorified God.
This was a wonderful book! Loved getting to know June, Clay, Noble, and Allie. They are characters you root for and want them to get their happy ending. Hattie Wade did a great job of weaving Jesus’ love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness throughout the book.
Couldn’t put this book down! Has everything - love triangle, friendship, drama…all of this while showing beautiful examples of Godly friendships and relationships!
I’m so glad to discover @hattiewadeauthor! I felt very nostalgic reading this book with all its 90’s and early 2000’s references. ♥️ It was fun escaping adult life for a while and living vicariously through quirky, creative June! I don’t know the words to express how much I loved this book. It’s definitely my favorite 2023 read so far! I spent every spare moment reading it.
It really struck a cord with me, which is funny, because I’m definitely not a 17 year old girl with two cute guys pining after me. 🤣 But, I related so much with June’s struggle to let go of control and list making. There is so much truth in this book along with the sweetest friendships and romance!
I don’t read a lot of YA books, but I will definitely be reading Hattie Wade’s next book that releases in April! I hope word about her books spreads fast, because she is a really talented author!
I couldn't put this book down! Wonderful character development throughout while keeping Christ at the center of this book. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!
So enjoyed this book! It was sweet and personal. I felt connected to the characters and drawn to know what happens next! I finished it in two sittings.
🌶:Light Kissing, No Explicit Descriptions, Chaste Physical Contact ❗️:Mental illness, death of parent/grandparent,child abandonment, postpartum disease
Tropes: Friends to lovers Opposites attract Love Triangle
Are you team Clay or Noble?
This book tells a heartwarming tale of love ,heartbreak, hope, and healing.
First of June is friends with one of the popular kids. But June is different. She's a little quirky(not in a bad way) , with a name like Royal, only prince Charming will do. 😁.
Clay is a (Charming), aka the Prince of the popular kids. He gets roped into getting June out of the way so his ex could get the new boy, aka Noble. I rooted for June and Clay from the start ,I didn't care much for noble or his little gestures (diet Coke) and liked him even less after his reaction to her Halloween outfit idea.
As for Clay ,he wanted June to be herself and loved her for her. When he realized he loved her ,he went all out to get his girl. I adored the pet names he gave her and the forehead kisses. But i overall loved how June wasn't shy about praying for him even if he didn't believe himself. He allowed her to pray for him and didn't try to change her or to puss her faith to the back.
Clay was broken, and I absolutely loved that he found God with just a little push from June ,even if it led to heartbreak. June and Clay's heartbreak broke my heart I cried a few tears. But God showed them that love isn't this perfect man and fancy dates. It's real ,it hurts, and it heals together.
But... they found their happy ever after with God at their center.
I absolutely loved Allie ,but it infuriated me that she couldn't see how cruel Bridgett was.
Favorite scenes: All of the royal references Allie's friendship First softball game Paint room Clay's letterman jacket Rain scene / taking care of each other Dress competition Clay watching June and Allie dance June Confesses her love Running in the rain
I loved the vintage cars ,90's & 2000's references.
This book is for anyone looking for a clean, young adult romance. It has authentic, Christian messages and themes that don’t shy away from the hard stuff. The characters are memorable and the main protagonist, June, is so lovable—you’ll be Team June no matter which guy she chooses.
If you’re looking for a wholesome, hard-to-put-down, and nostalgic (for the older crowd) Christian fiction book, this is it! Perfect for fans of Grease (without the main character changing herself for the love interest) and A Walk to Remember.
And did I mention it’s the first book in a series?
Hattie Wade is a new to me author and she was so good. I wasn’t sure at first because it was YA Romance but this book was soo much more. It had romance and Christian themes and friendship. Forgiveness, love and peace.
