Bombshell Brides #3

Mail Order Vow

Rate this book

We meet for the first time on a windswept cliff at 8am.

In twenty-four hours, we’ll marry.

I know it doesn’t look good–being a mail order bride. But I’m not doing this for money or anything gross. The truth is… I’m lonely.

I’m tired of being the forgotten sister; the bookish, plain one who never gets a second look. And my groom-to-be? He won’t stop staring.

But the burly lighthouse keeper is scarred and gruff. He barely speaks, and when he does, it sends shivers down my spine.

Can I really do this? Can I marry a man I just met?

And after feeling his possessive touch… could I ever walk away?

Mail Order Vow is a short and steamy instalove story, starring a grumpy lighthouse keeper and the bride he’d cross oceans for.

This was really cute!

Jessica and Murray are both searching for love and decide to sign up to the Mail Order Bride/Husband organization in hope to meet their soulmate. The story starts with Jessica who's packed all of her belonging in her small car to go to the lighthouse, where the twenty-four hour rendezvous with Murray is supposed to take place. She doesn't know what he looks like and vice versa. When she arrives, she is caught off guard by his scary looks and grumpy demeanor.

Murray is a type of heroes that I love to see in a romance story. He was scarred with a milky eye, his shyness came off as grumpiness and his behavior was endearing. His physique was tall, burly and weathered. I just loved reading his perspective as he felt so hopeful and worried that Jessica would decide to leave him at the end of the twenty-four hour 'date'. He had some insecurities that he had to fight against but overall, he was able to get out of his comfort zone and get closer to Jessica. The fact that he was so hopeful and full of love, wanting a little family really melted my heart.

Let’s face it, with my glasses and my freckles and my limp, mousy hair, no one was ever going to pick me from a photo. I’m not a complete disaster to look at, but my older sisters definitely got all the good genes.-Jessica

Then there was Jessica, a shy and sort of mousy young woman who complemented Murray very well. She didn't particularly think she was pretty, especially compared to her sisters who often took the spotlight. Something that I found really nice was how she definitely appeared to be average but that to Murray she was absolutely perfect. It just goes to show that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I thought it was really cute. She was sweet and considerate towards Murray.

I always thought I’d make a good husband, if only someone would give me a chance.-Murray

They were adorable together. When one was too scared to take the steps, the other would engage, and so on. Their dynamic was great. I almost wish this novella had been a full length novel. The setting at the lighthouse was nice and I thought there could've been so much to develop on from the characters' backstories to even the shores and the lighthouse's history.

Would I recommend this novella? Definitely the best novella out of the Bombshell Brides series so far. It had a little bit more depth to it, the characters were agreeable and their romance heartwarming.

**Note that I do not rate novellas and full-length books by the same standards**

Bearded, big, recluse, husky, manly man, virgin or very devoted/ celibate. Love these heroes. Maybe not the big belly part but the rest of it.

checks ALLLL the boxes!!❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️

What a winner!!! A tasty little morsel of a romance but one that manages to still pack in the heart, steam and soul?! Be still my swooning heart!!

This little novella had everything I love:

1. dual virgins✔️
2. Big, BURLY, scarred hero✔️
3. Sweet, shy, innocent heroine✔️
4.Both yearning for each other, but unsure of the other? ✔️
5 💯 SAFE✔️

This was scrumptious!!! No others, no cheating or abuse of any kind. HEA with epilogue years out

Can't get much more average than this. it's an insta- love (VERY VERY instant...as in they're in love before knowing each other for 24 hours or having one single real full conversation. How is that romantic? that's not love, that's lust...). both are described a bit ugly but totally thinking the other is hot, so good for them.
I think this is supposed be a super spicy Novela? but it's not. it's just your average spice novella. The writing is average, the story is average, the characters are average, and the love story is a bit non-existant considering they both claim to love one another before truly knowing each other at ALL.
I read this in about an hour. At least it lets me cross off the MMC is a virgin bingo square.

What a fun Cassie Mint!!

This is a short, sweet (but also hot) Mail Order Bride romance!
Murray is a scarred and lonely 40 years old trying to find love. He comes across bookworm Jessica at a Mail Order Bride agency and agrees to tie the knot with her.

A delightful read :)

"Mail Order Vow" is the story of Jessica and Murray.

Our big burly scarred lighthouse keeper meets his sweet innocent mail order bride, and sparks fly. It was short and sweet with fade to black scenes.

A grumpy, lonely lighthouse keeper and the mail-order bride he signed up for!!! <3

This was very cute and I adored the whole concept of this story. She arrives to this beautiful manor by the sea and finds her soon-to-be-husband, though they do have 24 hours before any decision is made. So, the story is set during those 24 hours which they want to be 100% sure that they want to go through the marriage. It's obvious they do! Most of Cassie Mint books are insta-love and they love each other since day one and I love that. You won't ever doubt anyone's feelings or love because it's there, written in the pages. Her books are also dual POVs so it's always nice to see both sides during this whole thing.

I highly recommend this one!

This was freaking adorable. Two people ready to love someone. It’s their first time for both of them. I love that this dude is larger and has a belly. And that he’s physically not perfect. Sounds like there’s a huge age gap in there. Since it’s such a short book, that doesn’t really come up too much but it might be close to 20 years between them. He’s close to 40 and she’s 20 (I think).

Super fast story but so much fun.

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Jessica no longer wants to be compared to her perfect sisters, she is aware that she is the nerdy, chubby one and that she is overlooked by pretty much everyone especially men, there is no way that she is going to find love the conventional way wasn’t on the cards for her, but she longs for a family and decides that the unconventional way is the way to go for her. Which is how she finds herself signing to be a mail order bride. She has no idea what to expect when she arrives but what she finds surpasses anything she had imagined. Arriving at a lighthouse wasn’t what she was expecting and when she meets Murray for the first time, she can’t help but be a little intimidated by his size, but the more time that they spend together the more she realizes that this is the man made for her. Can she convince Murray that they belong together?

Murray MacGregor has spent most of his life in hiding after suffering an accident that has left him scarred for life, convinced that no woman would ever look twice at him he had decided to see if a matchmaking website could give him the life that he has always hoped for but would always be out of reach. He never expected an angel, he knew from the minute that he saw her that she had changed everything, but could he make her happy or will he let his head rule his heart and push her away. Is he destined to live his life alone or will he take what is being offered and accept love?

Cassie Mint is one of my favourite authors and she cements that for me with each book she publishes, these two characters just had my heart from the start. Jessica was a shy bookworm who wanted to find her place in the world and be loved and Murray had no idea of his true worth, together theses two made each other whole. A recommended read 4.5*

4.5 stars…If you take this novella at face value for what it is (insta-love, OTT, mail order bride, dual virgins) then you’ll enjoy it. Both really likeable characters, just enough backstory to make them interesting. Its a super fast read, and made me smile.

Cute.

A cute little story. Nothing too special or complicated about it. The best parts are probably that it has a hefty hero who is a virgin. Both things I love.

This is a fast easy steamy read with a growly older man and a much younger shy woman. He's 40 and she is 20. Jessica thinks she is a homely girl, short and plump with straight brown hair and that is why she signed up to be a mail order bride. Murray is a forty year old lighthouse keeper with one good eye and numerous scars on his face and he is so lonely he signed up for a mail order bride. But the minute Murray sees Jessica he wonders what this beautiful young thing could ever see in him. The minute Jessica meets Murray she sees a future for herself she never thought she would have but wonders if this big strong man could ever want plain jane Jessica. This is such a sweet love story with the perfect amount of doubt from these two until they finally talk and realize they both want the same thing. Beautiful, steamy, love story and a quick exciting read.

adorable little novella about finding love at 30/40

This was such a cute, quick love story. A grumpy beastly lighthouse keeper and the shy, bookworm lady who comes to his dark castle near the sea. It was sweet and adorable and I loved devoting a story to those who find a first love later in life.

To all the late bloomers, this is for you!

I love mail-order bride books and this was really sweet! I couldn't help but want our characters to be together forever. Murray and Jessica both had their insecurities and reading about them overcoming them and falling in love was a good time.

I received an arc for an honest review.

Murray. I wrinkle my nose. “Like the eel?”

NO. That would be MORAY. Although, I will point out that I just cannot get behind a hero named Murray unless it's this fella.
