The fifth book in The Jerry McNeal series has Jerry and his ghostly K-9 companion heading to Michigan to visit Max and discover what – if any – secrets are hiding in Lighthouse County Park.

Port Hope, the sleepy town that rests along the coast of Lake Huron, is the last place one would expect to find a dead body – much less a body that so closely resembles the one Jerry and Gunter uncovered in Tennessee.

Is the redhead spirit that visits Max in her dreams simply a wayward ghost that haunts Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse? Or, will Jerry, Max and Gunter, discover a truth too frightening to be labeled a mere coincidence?

Better and better.

I have enjoyed this series from the beginning. They're a pretty quick read, they're fun and exciting, and who wouldn't love to have a ghostly former K-9 police dog as a friend and protector? Jerry is a former Marine and police officer who can see and talk to ghosts. Now he travels the country helping ghosts find peace. So far, most of the ghosts have been victims of murder who need Jerry's and Gunter's help finding their burial sites so the families can finally have some answers and peace. In this book, Jerry and Gunter travel to see Max, a young girl who sees ghosts. Now she and her mother are terribly afraid because Max is not only seeing a ghost who is hurting her, but the ghost keeps telling her that she needs Max to make Jerry come and help her NOW. I have really enjoyed this series and I can tell you that they just keep getting better as the author seems to be getting a better picture of Jerry, Gunter and Max. I hope this series doesn't end any time soon because I'm getting a real kick out of reading them. They have been so much fun and I will be reading all of them until there aren't any more to read.

This may be the best one. He meets Max and her mother. Port Hope is a small town that Jerry falls in love with.

RECOMMENDED

"Port Hope" is the 5th book of the series and continues
Jerry McNeal's story. If you have started the series I know
that you will not stop until the end.

One Note
In the story Jerry helps an injured man by using the mans
belt as a tourniquet and has Max loosen the belt.

“I need you to loosen the belt just a bit.”

Currant medical practice is to NOT loosen a tourniquet after application, but to note the time.
The TQ is only removed at the Hospital.

I couldn't contact the author but I wanted to provide the
correct information. Please do your own research.
Every home and car should have a TQ. IMHO

Port Hope by Sherry A. Burton

Port Hope is a story of a young lady that took a chance to go visit as many lighthouses as she could. Trouble was, she didn't tell any one where she was going.

Jerry has been called to help a woman in another state by a mother and daughter. He goes to meet them in Michigan.

The characters in this story are great to read about. The plot leaves you unsure of how things will go, but at the end, you will love the story. I cannot wait to read #6 in this series!

This Series is Perfection

It's been a long time since I was so immersed in a series! Can't wait for the next one, and I will be so disappointed when I reach the last one! In the last book Jerry found the body of an old "girlfriend" who told him he needed to go see Max, the young woman I girl he had been communicating with who lived in Michigan. That it was very important that he do this! So Jerry starts out from his family reunion in NC to go to Michigan, where he finds another murder he has to solve with Max's help! On to the next book!

Ghosts…more than they seem

We finally met Max! Gunter has a new love and a new friend. Max has developed her gift already and it sets Jerry on a path to meet her and maybe finding a serial killer. Jerry and his former supervisor pull some strings again and Jerry and Max find the ghost and help bring her closure. The ending with the family connection was tense and fascinating. I loved the part about puppies and how there was a dangerous element to the ghostly world. Ready for the next adventure!

Jerry McNeal and Gunter are on the trail and on the hunt helping people and ghosts along the way. This series continues to keep me interested as Ms. Burton keeps the action and dialogue taut and spot on with nothing wasted. Book 5 has Jerry helping Max (Maxine, a young girl seeing a ghost) and resolving a four-year mystery. As I move to book 6, I look forward to whatever Jerry and Gunter get up to next.

Be prepared to binge!

Loving these books! The author has produced engaging characters and storylines. My only regret is that the series is ongoing, and each book picks up exactly where the prior left off. While not a bad thing in and of itself, if the series isn't finished, we wind up waiting and watching for the next installment! Worth the wait though, I will certainly be watching.

The Jerry McNeal series book 5

This story keeps getting better and better.
Max needs Jerrys help, there is a ghost that has hurt Max, and Jerry needs to have a talk with that ghost, of course Gunter will protect Max.
Jerry has driven to Port Hope, Michigan. This book was even more enjoyable because i live in Michigan. How the author writes about Michigan and the deer makes me Smile. I Love Lake Huron, and the Sanilac area.

Amazing

I enjoy reading about the supernatural and when you throw in a ghost dog, well you had me hooked. I started reading this series on Saturday, today is Monday and I am now on to book 6. This series is very enjoyable and each book builds upon the last flowing along keeping your interest. I must add that I m glad you listened to your mother and kept the ghost dog in. Thank you

The best one yet

The hero is beginning to shape up. It is not just about recovery, nor about mending fences. His own power and resources are building as he learns to trust himself and to let in others.
This serial killer may be finally approaching the end of his mission on earth!

Growl

This series gets cuter with each book. Clever and witty, it has a very homey and good hearted feel to it. All ways like a story with a dog in it. Books are relatively short so easy to do in a day. Sometimes you want something light. Not all stories need to be " War and Peace". Some just need to have a dog.

Jerry, Max and Gunter don't again

These stories are refreshing. There's no off colored language, improper behavior. Even the ghost is polite. And yes, Jerry did prevent a couple of possible trouble spots. Max was able to convince her Mom there really are spirits. They were able to tell the family where their loved one was. Great job. Thank you.

Okay!

Our hero Jerry McNeal certainly gets around and he has many fans and people who believe in him to get the job done. This time and last, Jerry ponders if this guy is a serial killer. If so I fear he has many more places to search and plenty of states. Can't wait to see what comes next. Thanks Mrs Burton.

Another keeper

Another spirit needs help from Jerry and Gunter, but makes a judgement error by trying to intimidate Max into helping her. New characters are introduced who make cause future problems. Great, fast read that keeps me reading on. Can hardly wait to finish the next one. Started it already, but as usual, can't finish it yet, but will get it done tomorrow.

These books just get better!

Like a serial series, this book starts up right where the last one left off. We finally get to meet Jerry's helper, the young girl, Max, in person. Jerry and Gunter are on the case, helping out a young girl and her mother, the tortured spirit of a woman, and anyone else who needs help along the way. I only want to read more!

Book 5 is awesome!

I can’t believe I had never heard of this series. Jerry McNeal and his ghostly K-9 just gets better and better with each book. I love all his characters and that he doesn’t use them and forget them, but instead turn up in future books. Highly recommend this series.

The Jerry McNeal series is a very good story, I’m really liking the series the more I’m reading it, Jerry and his ghostly K-9 Gunter are a good team. These books are relatively quick reads, which I like. I devour each book and move onto the next in the series immediately after finishing the book. I have had a few laugh out loud moments with both the human and dog actions.

Love These Stories

I love the length of these stories and how fast paced they are. There’s almost no repetition of past stories retelling. Love the Max character and hope she turns up in future books, I highly recommend this series. It’s possible to read the books out of sequence but it’s best to start at the beginning.

Jerry travels to where Max lives so that he can help her with the problem spirit that originally invades her dreams but is now appearing and physically hurting her.
This new event is really looking like a serial murderer is on the prowl and Jerry who still has his association with the police through his Boss, can hopefully gain a little more info than he would be able to without his help.

I am hooked on this series. Right off the bat I am suggesting to give this series a try.

I love how Sherry writes the story you kinda feel like you are part of the story (quiet side kick).

The way she writes (my opinion) makes you wonder if things will work out. Most times that would have me dropping the first book and never picking the next book up.

Teach the children and help find the resting places of the ghostly.

What a crazy thing to try solving the dreams of Max but it's really another murder to solve! But the ghostly dog has other ideas besides his guard duty, something about a female dog in heat! Can he have puppies? will we ever know....

A well written short story with the resolution happening in the next novel.

Jerry and Gunther team up with Max and make a terrifying discovery. Gotta wait for the next novel to find out how it comes together at the end.

I love this series. German Shepherd spirit and a main character that is trying to help spirits find closer is wonderful. I have enjoyed all the characters introduced to us and look forward to the next installment. Great reads for someone that has just had knee surgery, it has brightened my day.
