Good to the Last Death #8

It's a Hard-Knock Midlife

Rate this book
Midlife is supposed to be messy, but this is a full-on catastrophic crisis.

Just when I thought life might be getting back to normal—normal being a relative word—I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Marriage proposal from the Grim Reaper? Yes.

Beautiful healthy baby? Yes.

Friends and family safe? Yes.

Ghost of my worst enemy sitting on my front porch? OMG. Yep.

With the ghostly world imploding around me, I’m going to need more than superglue to repair it.

Question? Am I willing to do what has to be done?

Answer? I’m about to find out.

To say forty has been an eventful year is an understatement.

On the contrary, it’s turning out to be a seriously hard-knock midlife.

I have followed this series from the beginning and I have to admire Robyn Peterman and her enthusiastic imagination. Never have I read anything so irreverently hilarious as the tales she writes. The snark and sarcasm being the pluses they are, adding in some of the hysterical phrases that comes from who knows where added in to some of the southern expressions just make this book complete. Daisy and Gideon are cleaning up another mess or a fine kettle of fish to use a phrase, and the crew have another 5 members that will have you either gagging or rolling and sometimes both at the same time. No spoilers per the usual but know this, you will regret it if you pass this one by.

It’s a Hard-Knock Midlife
Good to the Last Death, Book 8

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue this amazing series.

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: LV-CC Public Library
Dates Read: 3/16/23 - 3/18/23
Stars: 4
Narrator(s): Jessica Almasy

The Characters:

Daisy:
Gideon:
All of their friends and family plus the addition of 4 delightful drag queens

The Story:

We start this story right where we left off in book 7 with a sad and bittersweet goodbye but we are soon overwhelmed by the delightful yet ominous appearance of 4 decapitated drag queens who happen to be very powerful indeed. This is as usual a fun and slightly terrifying romp through the supernatural world and I enjoyed every moment of it. I am not so patiently waiting for Daisy’s next adventure.

Eight books in and I still cannot get enough of this series! Robyn Peterman introduced us to some new and funny characters, as well as giving us plenty of the characters that we already know and love. And let's just say, she knows how to toss in a plot twist that you won't see coming!

Wow another wonderful and hilarious book by Robyn Peterman.

Hard to believe that It's a Hard-Knock Midlife is the 8th book in the Good to the Last Death series. I really think this was the best one but I say that after every book I read in the series. It was an emotional rollercoaster of emotions for me. I laughed so hard but I did shed a few tears and that is when I know what an exceptional author Robyn Peterman is...she can having you crying in one chapter and laughing out loud in the next. The book flowed flawlessly and pulled you into the story.

Daisy, Gideon and the gang are back. So much action and some new characters that OMG I laughed so hard when I finally figured out who they were before the story told me. I would really like to know how Robyn Peterman comes up with the characters because they are perfection.

Only problem I need the next book now! Did I say I love this book and series...because I do...it is amazing

If you haven't read this series I suggest you run to your nearest bookstore, library, or computer and get this series. You will laugh your butt off.
Highly recommend!

I have never read a series where I want to bookmark and highlight and make so many notes with so many quotable words and sentences in all my life. Every word is a joy to read. I was so excited to see Daisy and Gideon again. And dying to know what they were going to do with their little problem. We got to visit all our favorite people again and we got to meet a few new friends. Tory was a mystery. I can't wait to hear more from her in the next book. I'm intrigued with her story. My favorite people we met, as I'm sure lots of peoples were, is the Queens. Absolute gold those guys. Love them to pieces. Literally love every word they say. They were quite the surprise. I'm soooo looking forward to more of them in the next book! As always I laughed until I cried, I just cried, and I highlighted almost the entire book. Reading this series brings me such joy and cleanses my soul. I also tend to go back and use the quotes I highlight in real life so its a huge win and I enjoy them greatly. I can't wait for more!!!

You Light Up My Midlife Crisis (Good to the Last Death, #5) is so updside down and inside out. I Love it! I can't get enough of crazy that is absolutely fantabulous. This divine, original and oh so quirky tale is a great story of Daisy whose live is absolutey weird, zany and full of mayhem and madness. It is a Paranormal Women's Fiction that had me laughing so hard and sobbing at others. Daisy's life is absolutely bonkers she rides by the seat of her pants and hopes for the best with her eyes closed, she loves the grim reaper, her dad is an Archangel and has many other friends with weird titles. I love that Robyn's humour knows no bounds and you never know what she comes up with.
Robyn and the other group of authors that have banded together to bring brilliance of women over 40 a new lease on life. Hail the Fab 13, you should look them up you are going to love their work.

In her humorous yet snarky trademark, this author once again managed to entertain and still poke fun at important life lessons. Let’s face it, we all have issues with separating our personal emotions from duties that demand us to be non biased. In todays world, emotions fly untethered, and we all stand to gain from a reminder to just “ be kind”…no matter who it is.
This book is filled with relatable characters, all of them playing integral parts in forming this wonderful tale. Even if you are not following every book in this series, it is not hard to get hooked in. This skilled storyteller ensures you have enough backstory to have a complete experience. A great addition to my bookshelf! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

Hilariously Read

The characters in this book are hilarious. Candy Vargo, Jennifer & Tim just by themselves leave you rolling on the floor laughing every time they speak. Add in the mayhem that the four queens brought into this book and well I have no new way to describe just how wildly funny this book was. In addition, to how hilarious it was there were serious moments as well and a puzzle that must be solved by The Angel of Mercy/death counselor which all of humanity relies on her figuring it out. Quite the read and best in series to date. But like with all of Robyn Peterman's series each new book in a series is better that the previous which is amazing that she has the ability to improve on perfection.

Love thy enemy or it will bite you in the butt big time. Daisy learns that lesson the hard way. Plus has a few new visitors (now life long friends) spice things up along the way. & She does it all with Love!
All of the quips and lines from the Queens are Hilarious and Fabulous! Their humorous jokes and regal advice had me laughing, turning the page and not wanting the book to end. I would love to see this book as a movie.
Robyn does it again. Her character Daisy brings the love to each and every friend she meets along the way. Love triumphs over Hate. I felt the love pouring out of this book. Love, laughs & a drag show boot camp are wrapped up in a sequin wrap dress, paired with rhinestone stiletto heels, and knocking midlife on it’s padded rear.

This series keeps getting better! Daisy and the gang are back and it's an emotional rollercoaster. The beginning brought me to tears. The middle made me laugh so hard I choked. The end made me want to curse the author and left me anxious for the next one. There are some new characters that are zany and wonderful. There's also a new character that I am already completely invested in. That is Ms. Peterman's gift. I'm never disappointed when I pick up one of her books.

Well, Robyn Peterman has done it again. It’s a Hard Knock Midlife is a Triumph. Just when the good guys win and everything is lovely, then it explodes. Daisy is with the love of her immortal life, they have the most wonderful baby in the universe, her siblings are wonderful and her parents are together in eternity. You would think that everything was peachy, and it is until the bad guy shows up again. Another wonderful tale of Daisy the Death Counselor/The Angel of Mercy and her immortal and mortal friends and family (including some new faces) as they tackle another issue with the hereafter.

Action, romance, humor – this book has it all! I love our new characters (especially the fabulous four), and I hope they return. The rest of our zany crew is back, and ready to take on the world to protect those they love.

You knew Daisy’s decision was NOT going to end well, but you can’t really fault the decision made under times of stress, anger, and sadness. A whirlwind of sequins, make up, and fabulousness just add sparkle to an already amazing storyline.

I’m looking forward to the next book, and how the team will need to deal with the fallout of the kidnapping.

Oh, my! This book starts with Daisy making a decision that had me saying "Don't do it, Daisy! Uh-oh!" Of course, Daisy doesn't listen to a humble reader so the shenanigans begin.
Absolutely love the 5 new characters! The jokes the 4 told were hysterical. Their advice was spot on! Gran's boot camp had me giggling.
I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next, both with Daisy's dilemma that is unleashed at the end and with Tory.
I read an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

I absolutely love this series. I have always loved the family aspect in these books. It's not all about blood, it's also the friends that become closer than any family member could.

I know this is my go to saying, but how does Robyn come up with all of this?? She's hilarious!! Her mind boggles my mind! LOL

Just read the series...You won't regret it!

What’s not to love about this series?!? There are all the zany characters and the crazy dialogue. This book kept me in stitches throughout the whole thing. I couldn’t put it down.

We were introduced to a few new characters and OMG, they were something lol. I hope we get to see them again. The ending made me want to dig right into the next book. Unfortunately I have to wait for it.

Peterman’s ability to mix constant humor with deep emotions gets me every time! This book is no exception. The beginning about broke my heart but meeting the four horseman changed the vibe and left me giggling over and over. I love the characters and all thier quirks. Foul mouthed candy, super sweet Tim grams all the hearts and the rest of the side characters just add so much to this story! Loved every minute of this read!

Only Robyn Peterman can make you go from tears to laughing like a hyena to wanting to reach into the book to shake a character in the matter of minutes! Literally can't explain you'll just have to jump in whole heartily from book 1. To say I wasn't prepared to be angry at Daisy for saying no (understandable but dang it). Can't wait for more!

Oh my Grim! I didn't realize that the wonder if a hysterical super gluing heroine and her sidekicks would still be going this strong. I flipping love Daisy and all of the gals with rollercoaster antics. The story kept me entertained & in stitches. This is part of the series and really should be read after the others for the best enjoyment.

It’s not a good sign when the ghost of Zadkiel shows up on Diasy’s porch. All the usual hilarity ensues, and I loved meeting the queens. A fabulous series and a fun, laugh out loud read that I devoured in one sitting. I received an advance readers copy of this book and I am leaving a voluntary review.

Absolutely Brilliant! I am a long time reader and fan of Robyn’s books. This series has been a joy to follow. Robyn’s wit and amazing ability to come up with some of the most outrageously funny and twisted lines keeps me coming back for more!. Robyn continues to keep Daisy’s story interesting and unpredictable. Definitely needs to be on your list of must read!

A fast-paced and fun story, with so much heart. Every single character in this series is absolute perfection and each new addition adds just the right spice. I can't wait to see if Daisy gets her happily ever after, and some peace.

I loved this book by Robyn Peterman. As usual with her books, I stayed up way too late reading. Even dead Zadkiel is giving Daisy trouble. Somehow he has blocked the ghosts from her. She also has the four horsemen to contend with. Can she figure out everything before Armageddon happens?

Oh My F-ing Gosh this book is so dang funny. I love the four horse queers. I love Daisy and Gideon, it's a shame this series has to end at all. All the characters are hilarious, Candy is my favorite. I like all the snarkiness, sarcasm and cussing. Robyn is one of the best author's out there and I hope she writes more and more books.
