Between two exams, they spend some time at a rest stop where they could go on a shopping spree. The only problem is that they don't accept money there. If they want to buy something, they have to pay with the points they received at the end of their exams. But then their points will decrease. So they must think wisely and only buy things they might need during the next exam.
You Huo shows everyone that he is not only messing with the system but he is also smart enough to outsmart the system by taking advantage of its loopholes.
When they have to choose which subject exam they will take next, it seems that You Huo makes his choice based on his feeling that the examiner of that subject will be none other than Qin Jiu himself.
The next exam turns out to be a foreign language which Qin Jiu admitted that he chose randomly because he was too lazy to choose from the subjects available. You Huo and his fellow examinees get on a minibus and off they go to the examination site. Which happens to be a small village in the middle of nowhere, near a forest. After they get off the bus and realize, the bus driver just ran away, they talk to the residents of the village, who mysteriously warn them not to go out at night because it's dangerous and don't even open their doors or windows no matter what they hear. Quite creepy.
The dynamics between the MC and the ML are still tense, they have some banter going on as well. Just like You Huo, I'm also annoyed with Qin Jiu at times. He seems to enjoy messing with You Huo for no apparent reason as if he was thinking: "Why not?"
And here comes my favourite part so far. They have to split two rooms between five people. And guess what? No one wants to sleep in the same room as the examiner, so his fellow examinees ask You Huo to make a sacrifice. Which decision Qin Jiu so obviously enjoys. I get it. XD And the system also seems to get it. Otherwise, why would it say something like this?
"Examinees and examiners are forbidden from developing improper relationships. Please reassign the rooms."
Well, the system technically said it no matter whom Qin Jiu wanted to stay in a room with. Meaning that the examiner cannot stay in the same room with the examinees which makes his job more difficult since he has to oversee the exam. But funnily enough, when he decides to sleep on the sofa rather than on the bed, the system lets him stay in the same room as an examinee.
This is one of the most interesting parts so far. I think this exam was really designed well. The listening comprehension part includes listening to a local granny, who talks about something, and then they have to solve exercises related to what she said. Which seems mysterious and weird. But not only that. You Huo finds some connections between the current exam and his previous experiences and draws Qin Jiu's attention to it, while internally trying to figure out how the system controlling everyone works in reality. And he is determined to find out more.
