Work Sucks #1

How to Shower with your Boss

Rate this book
He calls her sweetheart . And not in an endearing way.

El’s new boss Sin is insanely attractive, wildly inappropriate, and a huge jerk.

In a moment of desperation after losing her job, boyfriend, and apartment, 22-year-old El Williams accepts a new position at VAC Agencies, a secret intelligence organization, as a personal assistant. Even after being forewarned of Sin’s sarcastic remarks and lack of accountability, she finds his rude behaviour even more unpredictable than described.
Sin doesn’t want her around… at all.

How can you do your job when your boss hates you?

They are complete opposites. The way Sin voices his arrogant opinion (typically using curse words) at any given moment shocks her. But is there something to admire about his confidence? El is so used to being quiet and polite, to the point of complacency. Sin’s confrontational attitude is almost refreshing.

When it isn’t annoying, that is.

She can’t quit. After everything she’s lost, she needs something to go right. Will she be able to find a way to work with Sin and earn his trust?

Is she only sticking around for the money or is Sin the wake-up call she’s been needing?

Trigger A sense of humor is required. This is part one of an opposites attract, workplace romance novella series and is approximately a 1.5-2 hour read. This story contains coarse language and inappropriate humor recommended for a 16+ audience.

Hi everyone!

I'm a cat lady, anime lover, and Pepsi addict!

I'm definitely the type of person who becomes way too invested in the world and characters that live in books! When I finish a great series (ex. Tigers Curse, Six of Crows) I literally don't know what to do with myself.

A great and terrible feeling that I keep wanting again and again!

I strive to write the type of stories that I personally love reading. My focus is on building believable relationships between characters and using action in the best ways possible to keep you hooked!

My first 2 books in my trilogy are available on Amazon (and Kindle Unlimited!)

Why, as a society, do we have to lie so much?

this is a fun little novella/short story that’s just the beginning I suppose of a duet or maybe an ongoing series about a girl who is at a low point in life and starts working with a grumpy guy. I don’t want to say much else because it may spoil things. Just know there’s no spice in this book, but there is building of a possible romance? I don’t know where it’s headed honestly, but I enjoyed this and downloaded book two immediately afterward so that’s a good sign.

Honestly I'm just so confused. I wouldn't consider this a short story as that would imply it's complete. This felt like someone ripped the beginning chapters out of a book and then left it at that, I wouldn't even call it a cliff hanger. It genuinely feels like I'm missing the rest of the book. The premise is interesting and I would like to read more but it stopped so abruptly I was in disbelief and I see no news on a continuation/second book. What was the point of publishing this?

Booktok made this seem so promising, but there’s no spice or romance 😒 all it has is a couple of really annoying men.

I'm was put off from this story from the moment she walked into the apartment. The woman degradation and unessissary and sexism is so evident it made me not enjoy the beginning. And near the end it got a little better but not by much and while the character banter would be cute and witty but again sexism toward women wasn't so front and center. The way the author handled the initial break-up wasn't well done and she and Dylans interactions were boarder line ridiculous to the point I almost DNF'd this book hopefully with the next one we get better content....

I liked it. It read as an introduction into a story, or like the first few chapters of a book, and it left me hooked. It's a fun read, something you don't need to take seriously, the characters are a bit over the top, but that makes it fun. Like in the movies. It's basically reading a TV rom-com.

It's obvious that it is written by a beginner author, and probably not edited professionally, but the story itself makes up for this. The characters show promise, and the relationships they develop do not feel fake.

I was looking for a quick distraction for a couple of hours and I was sucked in fast. This Novella was amazing! I found it on Kindle Unlimited, and it is going on my To Buy list so I can keep a copy when I need a quick, fun escape.

El and Sin make my heart just flutter. The underlying chemistry they have is undeniable - even if they don't see it themselves. I love a cute nerdy heroine pairing with an undeniable Alpha male. I can't wait to see what happens next.

This has potential. It’s a bit choppy and fast paced. Especially towards the end. It the writing and emotion is there. You can feel the wrong vibe with Dylan. You feel the animosity / entitlement from Sin. I wish there was more details to make it coherent. And more backbone from El.

I honestly don’t even know what inspired my 3 am, sleep-deprived brain to pick this book up.
Also, calling it a book is GENEROUS.
Like other reviewers have mentioned, it’s not even a short story because that would imply it’s complete. This is almost like reading four chapters in a book, and the next four chapters are somewhere else.

Not to even get started on the plot… which is nonexistent.

This was my first time reading something from this author. I saw a blurb for the book on Tic Tok and immediately downloaded it on KU. Definitely worth the read. A short novella but fun and witty. The writing was well done and the characters were fun. Cant wait for the next installment!

I liked the idea of this book, but it ends so abruptly… it didn’t feel like there was much plot building and fell flat for me. I didn’t like the characters enough to want to continue… there was no chance to really know them…

TikTok recommended and advertised. Quirky easy read, absolutely no spice, just drama.

It was a quick easy read to kick off 2023. I do feel like it ended abruptly, I know it’s a short novella with two more installments, but I wish it would have ended a little differently maybe.

great quick read

I enjoyed this book, so much happens in such a short period of time.
The storyline was very intriguing, enjoyed the mystery and the ‘what would happen next’ aspect to it.
Over a great quick read

These are debut Novellas self published by a young author and I just want to say Good 👏 On 👏 Her 👏.

Her ideas are great. Her story line intrigued me. The problem I have with Novellas is they need to have an ending. These all were a continuation with no ending or resolution for the characters.

With a bit of editing, polishing and mentorship, she will write a great full length book one day. Go girl 👏
